No more "Charging Rapidly" and MTP issues after fall - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

One day my phone fell off from my pocket (up to 20cm) while looking for something in the bag. Screen has cracked a bit, but when I came back to home and plugged device into a charger I've noticed that it doesn't charge rapidly, also there are issues with MTP mode, device doesn't detect that it's connected to PC it just charge, so I have to plug it multiple times until it detect that it's connected to a PC. Sometimes device displays on statusbar that it's connected, but switching to MTP mode doesn't work.
For first time I've thought that they changed "charging rapidly" to simple "charging" in beta 8.1, but it appears on both custom and stock ROMs. Device occasionally charge rapidly, so they didn't changed that.
It's like one week since accident. I'm planning to send device to LG for screen replacement, but more and more side effects slowly appearing, like 1px gray line on top screen. It's not a screen bleed, because it slowly disappears.

WEIRD charging issues

This is my girlfriend's phone, so I can't tell for sure if it's been dropped or what have you.
Phone will no longer charge when connected to USB. We have 5 different USB cables and none of them work. I have an extended battery in the phone right now and it's at 26%. Phone seems to work fine aside from the fact that I can't charge it. When USB is connected, the charging light does not turn on. Weirder still, the phone does not show the Status Bar icons or notifications. It's just a plain black strip.
Tried to switch the extended battery back for the stock battery (which isn't charged at all) and of course the phone won't power on or charge still.
And the kicker: when I connect it to my computer via USB, the computer powers off. I'm guessing the faulty part in the phone is trying to draw too much power from the USB and the computer is shutting down to protect itself? Or maybe the PSU just can't hack it and is cutting off?
Seems to me like something must be damaged internally in the Phone but I have no clue what part it is.
My phone (Evo 3D) is charging fine on all cables, even when connected to computer (no shut down).
Evo 4g
Rooted/S-OFF
Jellybread 1.3
Sounds to me sir, like the usb port is borked, its shorting out the power supply,i would stop messing with it before it shorts out the mother board on the phone and send it to someone to replace it,also if you have a voltage meter you can check the port that way to see if it is indeed receiving and/or pushing power.

Battery charging, not charging problems

Hello
Long story short. Yesterday running PA + Lean kernel I sit down to play TURBO. After one and a half hour, I went back and put my phone down and plugged in the cable. It did nothing. I played a bit with moving the cable head plugged in the phone and started charging as AC. Unplugged, see if fast charged was toggled. It wasn't. Plugged back in. Nothing. Somehow, someway, I managed to connect. Was really hard to finish it and flashed back a stock yakjuwx (as my original rom was). Everything nice and good, but now sometimes I get the unrecognized device and have to unplug and plug back. Since than, these are happening:
- when devices is turned off, I plug the cable, the icon with bolt comes up, than switch to charge animation and it does disappear. Pushing the power buttons for a short time, not for long as power on, wakes the phone and displays the animation. Is this normal? or should the animation be displayed constantly.
- phones in battery stats doesn't show "discharging" it shows "not charging". Shouldn't it show "Discharging" when there is no cable plugged in?
- sometimes I got flashes as if is plugged in, the so called "phantom charge". (no, bending the tongue doesn't help).
NFC toggle off on doesn't help either.
Soon I'll send back the phone in warranty, as I bought it it was sent back one time for heavy temperature rised and video recording microphone problem, although they didn't changed anything with the microphone, just the motherboard.
Now I have problems with the sleep too... altough I had always. Here are some pictures attached.
I am affraid about not being able to unroot soon if the usb board goes to sleep... it's a matter of time I think... so any ideas?

[Q] Strange power on issue

I've inherited a HOX which I'm trying to set up for my wife to use. It has a very unusual issue, when plugged in either to a charger or a PC, it shows no indication of charging - i.e. no red LED. On a PC, it intermittently gets picked up as an unknown device - or more correctly 3 unknown devices, maybe mass storage, composite & MTP? Not sure cos it doesn't pick up any device info. As I say it is intermittent which suggests the micro-USB socket might be at fault.
But there is evidence that it is accepting a charge because every 10 minutes or so the phone vibrates and displays the initial start-up screen i.e. white background with HTC logo & it doesn't get past that. It doesn't show the 'Quietly brilliant' screen first like on a regular start-up. The screen stays lit for 3 minutes or so, then it flickers and turns off. Then it turns on again about 10 minutes later and goes through the same cycle. It does this continually when plugged in. I've also tried charging using the 2 end dock contacts and it goes through the same cycle. Also, the battery & board are both warm but not hot.
I've ordered a replacement USB socket which is easy to fit as its not soldered - this might help with PC access.
I've also tried using a variety of button combinations, but the buttons seem to be completely inactive and don't do anything either when it's in the 'on' or 'off' mode.
Any ideas? I've searched and haven't come across anyone else experiencing this issue.
Just realised that the charge port is soldered in place, not just pressure contacts. It's completely detached.
Has anyone replaced a charge port? Got soldering gear but that looks tricky...

charging very slow

I'm having some problems with my wall charger or phone, the battery notification icon doesn't even change when i plug it in. Pluging to the computer works as expected, the icon changes to the charging icon.
I thought the charger was dead so i tried on a friend's zenphone 3, it seems normal on his phone, right on the lock screen it says it is charging (that doesn't happen on my moto z).
I turned off my phone and connected to the wall, the led turned on and it was charging, so it is not completely dead...
Turned the phone on and still no indication it was charging. So i opened the battery status and it says it is charging, it is VERY slow (still at 25% after many minutes) but it says there it is charging.
Unfortunately i couldn't try another charger yet. I haven't modded this phone in any way, still, could it be a software issue? It even got an OTA update yesterday but it didn't solve the problem.
Insert the pin in your device properly or it will charge slowly.

KF wont boot, screen flickers and shows boot logo for a split second then goes black

I was playing around with it, trying to set it up as a makeshift diy control center with an app and then suddenly the screen went black. It had been working perfectly for many years previously although the charging port was always finicky so I'd occasionally have to jiggle the cord to get it to charge (but I think that was due to the cords being too loose).
After extensive troubleshooting I concluded that it won't boot fully. The boot screen shows but in a flash it's gone, like a flicker. The device seems to refuse to allow me to turn it on when external power is connected to it, but if I sneak the charger cord in right as it is booting sometimes it will show me the battery charging animation for when the device is off (not sure what it's called but I've seen it on many devices as a standard feature) and it appears to actually be charging as it went from 84% to 87%. I also tried opening the device up and physically unplugging and then plugging the battery back in but that did the same thing as when holding the button without external power connected.
Is there any way to recover it or is it dead (it's been since 2011 that I have had this bad boy and I don't wanna lose him)?
