IMEI Issues - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Issue: Flashing a ROM results in my IMEI displaying as 0.
Steps I took before the problem:
Started with phone on latest OTA update
1. Unlocked Bootloader.
2. Installed custom ROM.
3. Wanted to go back to stock -> flashed stock 6.0.1 firmware.
4. Updated stock via OTAs, soft-bricked phone.
5. Used a guide with some qualcomm tools to recover phone.
6. Installed a custom ROM and IMEI was 0.
7. Installed same stock firmware (6.0.1) from step 3 and it is working fine - not updating for now.
The IMEI now shows up properly in the settings on 6.0.1 and everything seems to be working fine.
I would like to know if there is a way to either upgrade to the lastest stock firmware without bricking my phone.
Thank you!

Yep, everything is working fine now that I'm back on 6.0.1 stock firmware. I'll experiment tonight and tomorrow with some custom roms to see what happens.

I had similar problems, I flashed us 7.1.1 stock and all is ok. I think you must have nougat bootloader for fix imei on custom 7.1 roms, so flash stock 7.1 before flashing custom roms

Do you have a link for the 7.1.1 stock image?

I flashed this STOCK ROM on my 1635-02 EU version. Works fine.

Thank you so much for your help. I'm now on the latest 7.1.1 stock firmware (September 1st update) with Magisk 14.3 and safetynet passing.

Does installing a TWRP Backup also affect phone Firmware?

Hello guys,
following situation:
Long time I had a 4.4.something Rom installed. Before I flashed a custom Lollipop rom, I followed the advice to just go back to stock and let it update to Lollipop so that the firmware will be updated accordingly and I won't run into problems when flashing a Lollipop Custom Rom. Everything worked fine. Now I had to send my phone to HTC for display repair and just to make sure they won't nag about the custom Rom I reflashed some older stock rom via TWRP backup I found here, I think it was a 4.0 or so. The question is, does this also affect my phones firmware or is it still on the current newest level? So when I get it back, would I need to update to stock Lollipop again before flashing a custom rom or can I go for it straight away?

It won't affect your firmware.
Okay thanks, so Firmware should still be up to date and I can flash a Lollipop Custom Rom. I don't know what they do at HTC repair, if they only reset it or if they also update it, well I'll see.

installing revolution HD w/ twrp?

hi guys - so i tried to install the revolution rom on my recently unlocked m9 and it'd only boot to the bootloader or download.
i found some threads back from 2012 that said twrp wouldn't install the rev rom, but suspect it's out of date - it seemed to work fine.
is there some magic here? i tried to flash my firmware to the version matching the rom (3.35.401.12) and got a code 10 failure in adb. my current firmware is 3.10.605.7. doesn't flashing the rom update the firmware too? or do i need to successfully flash the rom prior?
should i use a different recovery? twrp launched the rev aroma installer and all seemed to go perfectly smoothly... no problems came up until reboot brought me right back to bootloader.
the aroma install says it might boot loop a couple times, but i booted to bootloader 5+ times before giving up and going back to a deodexed stock vzw rom.
any help is greatly appreciated - i'm hoping to get up to marshmallow before calling it good enough and moving on.
Flashing the rom doesnt update the firmware. S-on makes sure of that.
You must be on the base firmware for the rom to take. You need the vzw marshmallow ota update before you can flash a marshmallow based rom.

What if i want to get back to stock?

Hello XDA just had a question I wanted to clear up. I've had my z play -02 variant for a while now and I'm currently running lineage is 15.0. Just wanted to know if there is a way to get back to complete stock? I know the bootloader can't be locked, but is there a way to regain stock and still get motos ota's? Or is it impossible to get ota's after you've unlocked the bootloader?
OTA is working on unlocked device with STOCK ROM.
Try to flash STOCK ROM via fastboot or RSD tool.
Warning: do not try to flash MM version, OTA update from MM to N cause hard brick.
Try to flash latest 7.1.1 STOCK. I used this stock rom https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=889964283620757667 on my 1635-02 RETEU dualsim version.

Thank you!
When I try to flash it, rsd tool doesn't recognize my phone (probably because I'm in Windows 10) what's the command to flash it via fastboot?
you must be in bootloader mode for flashing.
maybe you do not have important drivers installed. I am using - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
look at this before installing drivers https://www.howtogeek.com/167723/ho...8.1-so-that-you-can-install-unsigned-drivers/
adb commands are different for each version of stock rom, because stock roms have different files to flash.
sorry for my english.

Hello,
I have extreme problems with flashing STOCK marshmallow on this tablet. I bought it with rooted stock lollipop. Then I upgraded to Ressurectionremix nougat - worked like a charm.
Then I decided to upgrade to stock marshmallow. In bootloader i've got CSC code ROM. Sice im from slovakia i downloaded from sammobile firmware T805XXU1CPL1_T805OXX1CPK1_XSK and T805XXU1CPH5_T805OXX1CPI1_XSK and T805XXU1CPL1_T805OXX1CPK1_ROM. I tried flashing all 3 of them, but after flashing, only samsung logo flashes and sometimes it vibrates. Also it is hot to touch. Wich MM should I use. Or is there somewhere debloated zip ?

As you've flashed a non stock rom you will have to factory reset before or after flashing the stock firmware.

Unfortunately many of the "how to" guides don't tell you that. Had the same problem on my SM-T700 and even a factory reset and wipe cache didn't solve the problem. I flashed TWRP and then it booted normally. Then I flashed stock recovery to get it back to completely stock.

Flash stock rom, downgrade and root

Hi, first time posting here. If doing it wrong sorry.
Rooted my s9+, flashed soldier rom. All ok.
Want to go back and use stock UK H3G rom [downloaded from sammobile] (to use substratum themes).
Backuped EFS
If i flash stock rom (from 9.0 to 8.0) using odin will I be able to root without waiting for bootloader to unlock and downgrading wont be a issue?
Hope you can help me with that.
Thanks!
