firmwarefile doesn't have 4.2.2, it only has 4.4+
You need 4.2.2. to flash TWRP, using the Loki method. This phone has a locked bootloader so an unsigned kernel cannot normally be flashed, but it allows root with KingRoot.

The process should be the same for the i337 and the i257, as long as you have 4.2.2. I make no guarantees as I cannot backup 4.2.2 to even give myself multiple shots at fixing the phone in case of brick. Most likely, the predesigned boot only works for i337 but the exploit should work for i257.

I don't have the firmware in a flashable. It's still on the phone itself, and I don't know how to back it up.

You have to flash philz recovery and use dr.ketans aroma multi tool to root your phone. There are a lot of guides for the same.
Unfortunately the MK4 Bootloader is a locked one and will not allow you to downgrade it now. Dont try downgrading the bootloader or you might brick your phone.
will give a try, thanks

NO.
It is in the bootloader and there is no way to downgrade the bootloader.
Our XDA devs are working on it.
well after the release of the latest firmware comes the new expectation of rooting the device?
any successors?
for now,you can only flash over rooted 4.4.4

Hi i followed all the steps as mentioned.... but after flashing restarting it is not going past Sony logo, not even the boot animation.
Please help
Hey there Just decided to share my experience. I have a D5503 and I flashed the 14.5.A.0.242 firmware. After this I decided to try to root the device, but since I had no TWRP or Clockwork it seems impossible to root. I lost my bootloader unlock too and no tool or method seems to be able to unlock it. I tried the official sony method, tried from flashtool and other similar programs but nothing seems to work (from cmd it comes up with and error message, some kind like "failed, cannot complete command or smth"). And yes,I've checked and my phone's bootloader CAN be unlocked. Any ideas what must be causing that or I just have to wait for a proper tool/method for root/BL unlocker ?
Hello,
Is there any way to downgrade from lollipop to kit kat? Im using N910PVPU2BOE1 (I bought the cellphone with this update), I'd see post about it and some people say yes and no.
Can you explain me? Or if is possible to unlock the N910P from Sprint by unlockbox, app or similar. I need the note 4 for international use.
PS: I've another N910P with OB7. Can I do a nand backup or similar and put it n the Note 4 with OE1 ? Maybe something like clone the software
IF u r on OE1 build you cant downgrade to KITKAT .
sorry

so what I did was root using odin installed twrp from the playstore and flashed the twrp recovery from the app. once I had recovery I flashed a stock rom from the forum in twrp. that booted up fine then I hooked my phone into the pc and open kies to see if it reconized my phone and it did so I hit the tools tab at the top of the program and clicked on firmware upgrade and initialization and it stared updating my phone back before the oel update

I am not sure if it's a RUU or a TWRP Nandroid Backup (I'm guessing the latter), but I guess you can extract the firmware from it?

There are no 4.16.401.13 modified firmwares or RUUs available AFAIK. It was a small incremental update that apparently wasn't big enough to warrant the effort.
I'm still on 4.16.401.10 and have never felt the need to update. Never even looked into it till now. I wouldn't worry about it.
Edit: xparent Tapatalk doesn't want to do quotes anymore for some reason

Yes, it is safe. You will need an unlocked bootloader to flash it since the zip isn't digitally signed.
