They have to let all the carriers fleece the customers first.
That means it probably won't be put on the LG Developer Bootloader Unlock list until well into December, maybe end of December?

I've posted that link several times. They won't add the LG V30 to that list until after the carrier unlocked versions are released. With the LG G6, was six weeks after the North America carrier unlocked version US997 was released. (May 12-June 29). But right after that, BOOM. Root, TWRP, ROMs.
What a load of crap! Then LG wonders why their mobile department is constantly hemorrhaging money. Lets announce a phone in August and not let people buy it until basically December! Its genius, by the time people can buy it other companies will be announcing their new phone and will overshadow our current offerings, how can it fail?

As long as you make sure on Swappa it's the "right" US998 (NOT U.S.Cellular).
FYI: When the LG G6 official carrier unlocked US997 came our, Amazon was selling it for $50 less than B&H.
So, if it's December 5th, I wonder when the official bootloader unlock will come.

LG releases flagship variants for the "open market", a.k.a. official carrier unlocked versions (SIM card unlocked) which are not sold by carriers and have most all the bands of the carriers.
Furthermore, these open market phones are then placed of the bootloader unlock eligibility list on the LG Developer website. You can request a code to unlock the bootloader of those phones.
There's usually a delay of several weeks between release of the carrier models and the official carrier unlocked versions, to let the carriers fleece their customers. Then there's an additional delay of several weeks before these "open market" models added to the LG bootloader unlock list. No one knows why.
For the V30, will be the US998 (North America) and the H930 (Europe). Yes, U.S.Cellular also sells a US998, but not their model. The one not sold by them.
Is that what you're asking?
Or are you asking if the firmware from those phones can be flashed over a carrier-branded LG V30?

Will hold off for now... saw too many hands on and unboxing videos showing off the Titanium Silver and Platinum Gold models and the black just looks too boring to me... if I'm going to spend around $900 for a phone, it has to make me say wow I want this now, take my money. I'll wait to see how much expansys will ask for an unlocked model... Best Buy in the States currently sells unlocked S6 Edge phones so I guess it's just a matter of time before they get the gold Plus models as well. I've given up on silver... looks like it's only Asia that will get it for now and importing one through ebay is a headache and a risk if something goes wrong with it.

The Note 5 yes, but not necessarily anything else. That could be sooner or later than that. We'd know if Rogers actually updated their updates page EVER.
There is absolutely 0 (ZERO) difference between all the firmwares. They are exactly the same. All the carriers files are there and only your sim will trigger the related CSC install.
So you can install whichever.

No idea. I flashed Bell myself on my Rogers Edge+ without issue. Didn't even have to factory reset.

Yes, T-mobile version would work. Various carriers and retailers are listed if you go to that link.
The problem we were worried about was how to "buy" the open market version (from say, B&H) with this promotion since it ends on December 2 and the US998 phone won't be released until December 5. If "pre-order" counts as a purchase, then it might still work.

Sorry to be that guy, but I read the fine print on LG's website and it mentions that if you get your second phone through a buy one get one free promotion it does not count for the $400 rebate.
However, when I purchased my LG V 30 plus and the second one from T-Mobile over the phone last night the representative told me that I should receive two separate transaction receipts so I'm going to go for it and see if I can get the $400 rebate anyway, since hopefully they both will not appear on the same receipt.

Yeah, I'm actually contemplating just buying a $400 TV in case they are to deny my 2nd V30+ purchase. Better safe than sorry. I'd rather lose out by actually gaining a TV, instead of losing out all together.

So, the current Android version and security update I'm on has issues playing hdr on Netflix (everything has a brownish yellow tint). I've watched an hdr movie rental on Google Play store. Not bad, but can clearly see that it's compressed. YouTube works great. But not Netflix. Seen on many Reddit forums that the issue is resolved in the Jan security patch. Which I'm assuming they may be holding off for us Canadiens for the Oreo update.
But I cannot seem to get any solid information about if it's even planned.
Anyone else stuck with the delayed security update?

Yes US received the Jan 1 security patch. It's reported to fix hdr issues. But no notice of it in Canada. Also the unlocked models are receiving oreo. Beta I think.

No, it's the December patch. Just got it earlier tonight, on both my open market US998 V30+ and my wife's open US998V30. I turned off my phone on my spare V30, to wait to see the update. I want to see if LG Bridge will offer to update it and maybe download KDZ.

I got this update today as well on V30+ unlocked.
But I hear it fixed the hdr. Yet I'm on the Dec 1 patch, and still have hdr issues with Netflix. Maybe because I received it before the fix mine was not included?
The very, very slow Oreo update release for the V30 (H933) is disheartening. Not like this is a surprise, but it’s still frustrating.
I thought it would be out before the end of Jan. Wait and see in 2 days time if that's true I guess.
I don't care about oreo, but considering that this is their "flagship" phone, such late security patches and updates on Canadian model H933 means this will be my first and last lg phone.
My Lg V30 T-Mobile USA is still on October patch. How disappointing.
I don't know why companies these don't just release one world wide model of the phone. It would streamline updates so much easier.

Because that would cut out the carriers and make the phones less expensive.
Google basically tried that, and so do a few other direct to consumer OEMs. But in North America, apparently people love going to their carrier stores to get ripped off. There are very few phones Sprint will accept that are not Sprint branded phones (and I'm pretty sure exceptions involve the OEMs like Motorola paying Sprint some money, somehow).
Google has to sell Pixel phones in Verizon stores to get any kind of sales traction. Verizon and T-Mobile make it hard for non-branded phones to work well with VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.
If you could buy the phone from anywhere (and it was the exact same phone), you would buy it off eBay from Chinese dealers. But carriers want their cut. So, they make it difficult. And they want their bloatware put on.

That's not how it works up here with the 933. Non of the phones are branded. And I think at this point any phone from any carrier can be used on any other carrier. What's more is its now not legal to sell sim locked phones here.
Doing the math with the available plans, its basically either a wash or cheaper to get i from the carriers.
We don't get much if anything as far as cheaper plans are concerned if you bring your own phone.
Any of the small amounts of bloatware we get is easily disabled via the system so not a big deal.

Searching right now, they seem to be sold out of both the "mint" and "9/10" LS998 V30+. Yesterday was a VERY good deal.

That's kind of a bad dice roll man, because if the phone was used with a case, the screen is what scratches first.
My buddy just received his.....with the May security patch!!! Back it goes.
Of the two I bought recently my "mint" LS998 V330+ is truly flawless, while my 9/10 LS998 V30+ has a drop ding just north of the volume buttons. Otherwise flawless. With a case (which is necessary with these phones), that ding won't be seen. I must say the seller was honest in grading those two at least.

Does the May security patch prevent the conversion/bootloader unlock? I thought it was the June security patch that has that.

Does the May security patch prevent the conversion/bootloader unlock? I thought it was the June security patch that has that.

Did you test it to see if the patch really does block us on this?
Even if some of these can't be unlocked I'll bet you can get a better price just reselling it as is.

How can they block the bootloader unlock if you can still flash US998 firmware? Does download mode still work?
ack you guys are scaring me here. i'm out of town but will be home sunday to check on my new phone. that would really surprise me that the seller would have these phones on the latest security patch.

Just got a shipping notice on a 6 pro 512/black from verizon pre-order. At the "label created" stage, UPS overnight.

Just checked and the 512 is still showing for sale on my account. This is a verizon business account, btw.
I had originally ordered from Verizon but cancelled because of the locked bootloader, $35 activation fee, and no Pixel buds. I will have to wait an extra 2 weeks from Google but I'm saving money and getting a hopefully unlockable bootloader. As much as I like stock Android, it's missing a ton of features I love on Samsung devices.

You probably already know this, but if I remember correctly you still get the Verizon activation fee if you active your "Google Edition" Pixel 6 with a Verizon account. One reason I switched to AT&T. I can switch phones whenever I feel like it.

Not if you order an unlocked one, but you do get it if you order a Verizon one.

Huh, interesting! When I got my unlocked HTC 10 before I got the Pixel 1, I thought I still had to pay an activation fee to Verizon, before I switched to AT&T.

No, because when you order an unlocked one, all you have to do is throw your SIM in it. You don't even have to notify Verizon. When you purchase a VZW model, Google makes you log into your VZW account, and that's when they get you. BUT, if you're a long time Verizon customer, it doesn't hurt to call them and ask them to waive the fee.

Same here. I originally had a delivery date of 10/28, but now my order page on VZW says "Delivery Date Will Be Updated Soon." Hopefully it still shows up this week.
P6P, 512Gb Black is what I ordered.
Just got my shipping notice for a Stormy Black 128 gb 6 Pro. Being delivered by UPS. I have to check back tomorrow for an updated delivery date, but most likely Wednesday.

I did, and just we are all in the same boat, no CC charges or anything, but what I did notice is that the status changed from processing to Running, I got no idea what running supposed to mean but yeah

Same here. Showing the ship & delivery dates on the same day, 10/28/2021.
I spoke w/one of my local "Team of Experts" associates from T-Mobile earlier this evening.
I was concerned that, even though I'm showing the 10/28 date, the Pixel 6 Pro is now back-ordered until mid-November.
What I was told that the bulk shipment has not arrived at the regional distribution center, but, it was still showing an estimated ship date of 10/28. (No tracking information yet).
Good enough for me. I'd went elsewhere for a carrier-free model, but, no one is matching the trade-in offers. (the full purchase price @ $899 for my Note20)

Yeah, I asked 2 reps, 1 via phone then via T-Force and both assured me that I'll be having it by the 28th, so I guess will have to wait and see

Mine is still showing "preorder" on the order status page with a ship date of 10/28. No changes yet.
But apparently if you just type in the confirmation , last name, and billing zip without logging in, it shows "running" with an estimated delivery date of 10/28.

Got my shipping notice yesterday and it says delivery the 26th or 27th by a company called OnTrac in San DIego. No status yet on the tracking info but it is only coming from Orange county. Still says waiting package- this is so frustraating
