My Pixel XL is having a problem with the mic and in ear speaker( not sure if it is because i put it in the bathroom the other day and got some water leaked in)
Current status is that when I turn on the phone, the mic works fine( phone call, whatsapp recording and regular recording ) However, after a while all those problems come out again, people just cant hear what I said during a phone call , mic cannot record.
Anyone know how to fix it other than factory reset?
Thanks

Hey,
I originally had my HTC Desire rooted but recently I reverted back to stock (Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed). Since then, I'm having some problems hearing the other person when I make or receive a call but they can hear me fine. The front speak does work because when I dial a number or listen to music, sound comes out of it. But during a call, I have to switch to loud speaker to hear! I've even rooted the phone again, flashed several different ROMS, reset factory settings, changed to CM7/r2 Hboot and updated the radio to the latest (32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.23) and yet the problem still persists!
Does anyone have any idea what the cause of it maybe and a solution?
Cheers,
Daniel
Well the in-call sounds come out of the front speaker.
On the Desire, all music and sounds come out of the rear speaker, as do phone calls when in loudspeaker mode.
It must be something wrong with your front speaker.

Yeah you're right. It's okay, it's still under warranty. I'll just take it back to the shop! thanks!
Wanted to ask if anybody else is having dropped calls?
Using the headset included in the box and another one that I have that I know works the call kept cutting out after 5 minutes or so and then the call hanging if I did not wake up the screen.
I thought it was a phone issue obviously, but if I leave the screen on and play around with it, then the phone call does not hang.....
Also if the sound cut out and before the call was dropped, if I wokeup the screen then we could hear each other again.
Has anyone else got this issue? I am on the original Three firmware v1.26.xxx, handset was sim locked but now sim unlocked.....
And since then I have tried calling with just the speakerphone and the call did not drop, not used the phone for long or with the speaker near my ear as I usually use a headset.
Thanks.
Bump, someone must have used the headset and made a long 10 minute+ call?
Using without a headset and the speakerphone the call has not dropped.
I only use a bluetooth headset but i don't seem to have problems with it (and i realy talk alot at the phone).
Just FYI this does not happen anymore for me after installing the 1.28 update from Three..... Still waiting on the other updates for other fixes!
OK so I just got a note 3 updates to 5.0 then went to metro pcs to activate it. So here's the problem. When I make a call, I can hear them fine but they can't hear me other then while I'm on speaker. I then tried using the voice recorder to make sure it's not a microphone issue and it could hear me just fine from 4feet away, so can see voice. So after much research here's the things I've tried.
1 restart
2 put small pin in microphone to clear dust bunnies
3 pull Sim card and clean it and use compressed air to clean slot
4 factory reset
5 boot In safe mode and make call (caller could not hear me but i coukd hear them)
6 turn off Bluetooth
7 wipe cashe
8 made sure I wasn't stuck in headphone mode
9 played with all call setting ie noise reduction volume boost (nothing worked)
Anyone have any ideas?? One thing that I found weird was that I can hear myself during the call like I was on the other phone talking to myself if that makes sense.....I'm hoping someone can help me
Oh and obviously it's a tmobile phone that I unlocked and activated at metro.
Im guessing your screwed if you have this issue?

I had this issue as well with my tmobile note 3. I could only be heard when on speakerphone. I researched and many folks said the issue is with the little flap of rubber that guards the entrance to the microphone by where you normally speak. I carefully took my phone apart (don't do unless you watch plenty of videos to know what needs to be disconnected and how) and I used a toothpick to (very) gently rub away small bits of debris around the entrance to the microphone. Then I put it back together and still had the problem, so I don't think taking it apart worked.
I rooted the phone and installed cyanogenmod with android 5.1, my microphone just started working. I'm on android 6.0.1 now and still have a working microphone in calls and voice recorder.
Hello,
have a problem with my HTC 10 when I make standard call there is no any problems, but when I switch call to loudspeaker people tell that they can't hear me, phone usually lie on the desk during this calls.
Is this hardware issue, or software? I use Viper ROM. This phone have two microphones right, which one is used with loud speaker call?
Hello, the same speaker like without Loudspeakermode. Try another ROM at first Stockrom, shouldn't help this i recommend to contact your seller.
speaker no matter if phone is at the ear or call is in "speaker" mode works without any problem,
my problem is with microphone but only on "speaker" mode because then other side can't hear me.
to resolve it, I've bored out the microphone hole on the bottom of the case enough to make sure the mic is fully exposed and that appears to have done the trick.
I cant figure out why this is happening but when i am in the call on speakerphone the phone will sometimes just turn off speaker and revert to the phone earpiece but the software still thinks its in speaker mode thus the only way to go back to speaker is to change the audio to handset first then reenable speaker.. this can sometimes happen several times withing a single call. I also have an android wear watch that is paired via bluetooth which i though may be the culprit but i have noticed it even when my watch is dead... anyone else?
Having same issue when connected to Bluetooth in my car. It will change output and I have to manually put it on phone headset then back. Sometimes it will just drop a call all together. Usually 6 minutes approx into the call. I am on Verizon 7.1.1. NMF260. Anyone else still having these issues on most recent update as I am.
Yeah I noticed it to. Thought it was my Android wear watch so I turned off gestures thinking the wrist movements were switching the output. I haven't had a chance to retest.

I am going to resurrect this thread because I'm having the same issue and it's one of the most infuriating things ever. To have my private conversation suddenly switch to speakerphone, or to be in the car and have it switch from car speakers to speakerphone is frustrating beyond words!
I have the issue as well. Sometimes it happens when another calls comes in or when a notification comes in, but also happens randomly. Pixel 2, Android 9.

Odd bug, any mention of it on the bug tracker?
