so right now, i need to move my n5x photos from my computer to gdrive, but i don't have enough space on it anymore, so i've gotta use gphotos
it says that's your photos won't be compressed if it's under 16MP
N5x has a 12MP sensor, so can anyone confirm that any photo taken by the 5x camera will be uncompressed and won't count towards any storage space

How much Google photos storage did u get with purchase of nexus 5x? Do u still get a 100 GB of photos and Google drive? Thanks
If you set your backup photo quality to "High quality" you get unlimited storage. If you set it to "Original" you get whatever space is available for your account's Google Drive. You do not get any extra Google Drive space for purchasing a Nexus 5X.
Unless you have a google drive promo from elsewhere, buying a nexus 5x does not give you any additional storage. The default is 15GB.
As another user said, If you set your backup photo quality to "High quality" using the google photos app, you get unlimited storage. Photos bigger than 15MP will be reduced in size.
Hi,
Bit of a small issue if you can call it that, just a tad annoying. DNG photos don't display poorly, but certainly not at their max quality. Other apps like lightroom do display the image in full quality/sharpness. However i cannot think of a good reason why G photos would not do that?
G photos recognises this as a RAW image, it just seems a tad dissapointing it isn't showing it in the full glory in my opinion, its locally stored as well obviously. Any ideas on this one? It seems though that capability isn't there.
Attached is a small section of the same photo opened up in the 2 different apps, quite a large difference in them.
Hello
Strange problem with the rear camera:
- when I take a photo, I see the correct thumbnail displayed at the bottom right, but the photo stored in the gallery is still gray
- I can take against videos and selfies without problem. The result is always satisfying.
Same diagnostic when the storage is on external or internal memory
Always the when I deleted cache of Samsung Camera, Open Camera, Samsung Gallery and Google Photos.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
(sorry for my poor english)
Solve !
I had replace samsung by htc in build.prop to resolve a problem with galaxy wear.
This change caused the problem with the rear camera.
I have no more explanation.
thank you for your patience
Have just realised Google photos back up doesn't back up Samsung motion pictures it just backs up as a normal picture is there anyway to fix or retrieve these pictures so that motion pictures work again ? It seems to back up pixel and iPhone motion pictures but shows no love for Samsung and yes I have the motion picture remover option turned off in Google photos which would only save motion pictures as a normal picture.
Hi! I have similar problem with note9.
1. Live photos that made on samsung camera app on android version lower then 9 not recognizable as motion by google photos. So probably backup can also remove it. But backup in full format, download it back to phone and try to play it with samsung gallery. Not sure, but it should keep file as is, without reformatting. This works in this way on my wife's S8+ (still android 8.0)
2. After I got android 9 on my note9, with new samsung camera app, live photos detected as "motion included" in google photos.
But not playable in google photos (same via web), export to video of gif gives an error too.
Full size backup and restore keeps the motion.
Smells like google photos service bug, but looks like google don't care.
Now, when I retested all this behaviour..
Now, when I retested all this behaviour, google photos restore live photos without motion!!!

Using @Simon1511 Lineage OS 20 build for the Samsung Galaxy A52 4G, photos taken on the phone using the default camera app are huge. Every photo taken with the 64 MP back camera is exactly 73.22 MB large, whereas every photo taken with the 32 MP front camera is exactly 47.94 MP large. This problem only affects the aforementioned cameras, the Macro, Depth, and Wide-angle cameras take normal size photos, and every image has a slightly different size, as they should be. I tried using the Open Camera app to see if there was a difference, but no, every photo taken with the 64 MP back camera in this app is exactly 96.22 MB large. I hope a Lineage OS developer can fix this, but currently I am using the Open Camera app over Aperature, the default app, simply because Open Camera let's users choose the size of photos (in MP) they take.
Notice how few settings there are for photos with the default app, vs how many options Open Camera has in the "Photo settings" section of it's settings. Lineage OS developers should add more options, isn't Lineage OS about having more control over your device? Settings aside, I hope they figure out why these photos I take are huge!
Update:
I just noticed that PNG photos I take with Open Camera are normal sizes (~5 times smaller than the JPEG ones, and look even better) and varied, unlike the JPEG ones. Maybe the root of the problem is that the OS doesn't use JPEG compression properly?
