is there any good ported version available for other phones wich is as good as PIE from paranoid android? Tried some apps from playstore but no one fit my needs, either they have not enough options or are too complicated to adjust
My actual rom got it but i want to use a new rom wich doesn't and i can't live without it ^^

Ok, I decided... I will root my Note2, but I would not like to lose much time in trying all the ROMs and comparing...
What I need is just:
- possibility to change dpi (with LCD resolution for example or in another way): this is my main purpose
- a very fast, stable and battery saving ROM, better light without all the Samsung "social things"... I do not want to risk or wait for updates to solve one problem or another.
Could you please suggest me?
Thank you so much.
You can change dpi on any rom
But there are problems I.e depending what you change it too some features wont fit and look right
Camera
Keyboard
Email
Snote
There is one rom thats light and about 300mb large what has sysrem dpi changed to 280 with all bits looking right
Look in android development section and youll find it cant remember name
If you dont mind loosing spen features and touchwiz extras like quick glance pick up to call and things like that then I would defo recommend p.a rom had paranoid android on my note 1 and loved it

There is an overview over all roms for this phone over at forum(.)xda-developers(.)com/showthread.php?t=1926506
Well you could try the ParanoidAndroid roms (which are CM10's, so no original Sammy software), which allow for DPI changes and a Tablet/Hybrid Tablet mode. There's one in the Android developement section by Utacka who publishes the releases on a nightly basis, there's also one in the Original Android developement section by imilka, those are released on a different schedule.
There is a rom called Hypernote, which is not CM10, but developed from original Samsung software. It has the stock DPI changed to
but... anyway, you are saying that I am going to lose some features like the s-pen...
That is really a pity!
Regarding other things... do you think customized ROMs are better than the really reliable Samsung one?
I am confused... but I got used to my 240dpi on Note1, and everything here seems too big without reasons
Hello, I am loving my Note 2, and I've had it for about a month now. The problem is, I don't like all the changes samsung has made in the stock rom for the phone... And all the pesky bloatware.
The last phone I had was the legendary HTC HD2. (I will never forget it!) I was always up to date with the newest Android version on a phone from the stone age. (Shout out to Tytung and all his amazing work for the HD2!)
So basically I am pretty used to the xda-forums, flashing and having my phone to be exactly how I want it to be. However, I am facing a problem with my picky-ness.
I am looking for a rom with the newest Android version 4.2, because I like the way google meant for the android to be, and I would LOVE it if there were a "clean" Android 4.2 rom for the Note 2. I have found a few of those, but the problem is that I have felt in love with Samsung's S Note-app and the ability to "split screen" (and also a couple of those fancy features, but they are not important). Which leads me to my question:
(tl;dr)
Does it exist a "clean" Android 4.2 rom for the Note 2, which either has the S Note-app and the "split-screen"function included or has an alternative way to implement the app and function into the rom?
Would be a bonus if all the S-pen features were included too, but I guess that would be much to ask.
Thank you for any attention!
Yes same here...I only managed to find a custom stock rom which looks and feels like aosp with the option to remove bloatwares and just leave the spen features.

An alternative option could be to make a flashable zip with all the S Pen apps and features, which would make it easier for everyone. Then my problem would have been solved. A zip that works with most of the roms, you know.
It would also have been easier for developers, as you could leave it as an open choice whether to implement the S Pen apps/features in the rom or not.
I hope someone could answer me whether this is possible or not. Or maybe tell me the chances of it being done. I am no developer myself, but I think this could be a great idea!!

Greetings,
I've been around for some time, lurking mostly. And installing a ROM with ICS or JB on my Galaxy W was a wonderful way to innovate. It feels like I'm using a brand new phone, which is awesome.
I have tried Cyanogen mod and Paranoid Android and even the PAC roms. But the issue I run while using them is that my ram seems to be full most of the time, and it's filled with system apps more than my own apps. Which limits the phone seriously. I am almost unable to use Swiftkey for typing online or even messages, since it lags too much the phone.
I plan on keeping a couple of apps like a battery saver, Aviate launcher and occasionally a traffic monitor app like 3g Watchdog.I've been thinking about going back to Gingerbread versions, although new ones seem more enticing with features/apps like Google now.
I'm breaking my question in two parts:
1 - Can a more advanced android version like JB (or maybe KK) help make the system faster and the ram management more efficient? Or should I stick with a rom similar to stock?
2 - What roms do you recommend? Which Kernel? Or should I just face the fact my phone won't be able to comply with my current needs and I should ask Santa for an iPhone?
thanks

Thank you, I'll give it a try on the stable version.
For future reference, and to save the trouble for other people who may come here and need to search the thread:

Thank you very much.
PS: in the mean time I'm open to more suggestions, just in case.
U should also give a try to monster build rev16. Im using it as daily build and its really light weight.

The rom crashes the settings applet everytime I try to change language to Portuguese.
Can't add widgets with aviate launcher (settings crashes)
otherwise seems alright.
What is the current most stable Android Lollipop ROM? Need one that is closest to AOSP and least amount of bugs with things like the Camera etc.
@Ziyan's zmod is a stable basic rom. All 5.1 roms for GN have ~250MB less available RAM than 4.x roms, because of a deficiency with the kernel. The lack of optimization for 5.1 means skippy performance and worse multitasking. So the problem now isn't stability
What exactly is that about deficiency of the kernel @bamtan2?

Apparently the combination of Android 5 and the old 3.0 kernel means the developers must reserve RAM permanently for some features, like the camera. This is called a memory "carveout". The 3.4 kernel would let developers stop wasting that RAM. But making a new kernel is a lot of work...

So that's why all the 5.x ROMs I've tried so far become sluggish in matter of hours
So the best solution would be going back to 4.4?

If ZMOD + whatever tweaks you choose is still too slow for you, then yes, 4.x would be more polished in some ways! But some of the best 4.x ROMs are unfortunately disappearing from the internet even though they work well. Software doesn't "age" the same way hardware does Ideally the old releases would be re-built with the latest security patches and kept online for people to download. Exactly what ROM is best for you is hard to say without a lot of personal testing.
Thanks for a new keyword to google (ZMOD)
GNE is my secondary phone, I'd like to have it around and to be able to count on it should I need it.
I like to have Xposed and even the stock ROM would be totally acceptable then (well, "stock" feature-wise), without any bloat. Any recommendations for 4.4 or 5?
Thanks for the info so far.
I was leaning towards ZMOD, thanks for explaining the kernel issue.

Best bet is to stick with Ziyan
Hi,
I want to install new rom on my Z1C. I don't know exactly what to choose. I've been running on MX V8.50 but then I realised that battery drops fast and it also have Trojan inside. I want to increase my battery life as much as possible and I was wondering about installing KitKat based ROM is it a good idea? If yes then which ROM? I need some advices and I'm also concerned about security on KitKat. Maybe should I stay on 5.1.1? Or look for newer versions? How about Lineage? Is it good for battery?
Hello, I join as I am also looking for a system that will go fast with a good kernel for the maximum overclocking for games and with a small battery, I've tried several systems based on 5.1.1 as well as 7.1 it's hard to choose something, somehow as I used to have phones LG there were many more rums to choose from !! strange because Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact are very good phones

Battery drain is best when controlled by you. Use firewall and app disabler/system manager apps, etc, and control how your battery gets used.
Security is only solved by using latest versions, since you can't add security patch to built rom, so if you're concerned, use latest rom, (for this phone would be AICP or LOS 14 by munjeni. However, some would say that the security issue is way overblown. For sure, if you use your phone to do security sensitive things regularly, (with bank account and personal information, etc), then you want to be wise, but the actual instances of Android phones getting violated because of lack of security patches are pretty few, and also can be controlled by things like firewall, etc.
My suggestion is to test many roms, and if you find one you like, but is lacking in a certain area, find a way to address that issue.
Yes levone1 you're right I agree that the protections are important, thanks to you I will check this AICP is a system based on CM 12.1 (Resurrection Remix - only newer with baiers, etc.)
