Transfer Saved Wifi Networks - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Hey folks... For some reason, during the data transfer from my Pixel [1] XL to my Pixel 2 XL, only 3 out of 23 Saved Networks copied over. Sadly, I didn't notice until several hours later when I was done getting the device setup how I wanted it.
I never unlocked the bootloader on the P1XL because I only had it for a month (was a 6P Warranty replacement). So... anyone have any idea of a way to backup/restore the networks from my unrooted P1XL so I can get them to my P2XL. Obviously it's not the end of the world, but it's a pain to need to re-do them at each location over time.
Thanks in advance!

Google Pixel XL No Service

Hi,
I have an issue with my Pixel XL all of a sudden it came up with no services.
I know the SIM is working I but it in another phone and it work without any issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I had the same issue with a Verizon XL and my wife's non-XL when the phone first rolled out last fall. I was able to resolve it go going to setting>more>Network settings reset>reset settings. Seemed to be where the phone was as it happened in a notoriously bad 4G area for Verizon. It happened again (on both phones) when they seamed to be overwhelmed by the changes to the unlimited plan. Same fix, and it has not happened in the months since then. Unfortunely, you'll have to reattach your Bluetooth devices and WiFi connections, but that is of course no big deal.

Advanced exchanges with Google?

Not sure if that's the correct terminology, but...
I've owned my Pixel 2 XL for 9 days. This is actually my second device. My launch day order was returned due to it not charging. I also decided I wanted to wait for the black and white version to come available again. Anyway, loving it except for one issue. My wifi connectivity is crap. It constantly disconnects from whatever network I'm using. I've checked the configuration of my home router and everything is fine. I've tried both 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ but the problem persists. Other devices connected to the same network in the same room have no issues, so it must be my phone.
So my question is, does Google have an advanced exchange program? One where they send you your replacement device then you send them your old phone after receiving it? I know they did this back when I got my Nexus 10, but when I go to my Google account I only see the option to return it. I ask this because I can't be without my phone. Aside from using it for work (they actually pay for half my monthly bill) I'll be traveling this next week for the upcoming holidays and need it for that as well.
For the record, yes I've reset the network settings (multiple times) as well as done a full factory reset - twice (pre and post 8.1 OTA update). But the problem persists.
they do have advanced exchanges, Ive had to use it with my 6p, which I had to exchange twice.
also used it with my Pixel XL.
they do place a hold on a CC for the full amount, so be forewarned.
obviously that is removed once they receive the old phone.
I have always initiated the RMAs thru chat, not the website.

Thanks for the quick reply. I was hoping for this answer. I expected a credit card hold, so this is no issue.

Yes, you can choose either one...I chose advanced exchange and will be sending my old device back
I initiated an advance exchange this morning. My 4 day old phone has areas where the screen doesn't register a touch (like the enter and shift key on the keyboard), so the Google rep just authorized a new phone be sent to me for free. I have something like 15 days to return the old phone before being charged the full amount for both.

Verizon Hotspot hack with Unlimited Data?

Hey there, I'm strongly considering a Pixel 3a XL for my next phone and I'm one of those people still with grandfathered unlimited data from Verizon and I mainly root my phones just to be able to turn it into a hotspot.
Does this hack exist for the Pixel 3a XL? I just did a search and it didn't come up.
Also open to general thoughts coming from an OG Pixel XL.
Thanks!

You'll need the Props Editor module for Magisk. Simply do a search on how to add tethering with the regular commands by using this module. The normal method by changing the build prop don't work past Oreo.

I'm in the same boat as you (old school unlimited) and use a VZW phone for my back up broadband at work, which right now is a Pixel 3a XL. It's rooted with a custom ROM on it and I've been using it quite a bit, no issues at all with VZW doing anything about the data usage.
Your mileage (or data needs...) may vary.

Hey there. I used these instructions: https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-3a-xl/how-to/how-to-root-pixel-3a-3a-xl-twrp-t3928868
However now with COVID, my speeds are down and I think I read something about VZ being able to tell the difference between data from the phone and data from wifi tethered devices and throttling the hotspot data. That's what I'm investigating now.
I used to be able to stream 2-4 HD streams no problem and now I'm struggling to keep up with just one.
I'm in the same boat as you. Thanks for bringing this question up.

Where to buy an unlocked Pixel 3a XL these days?

So I finally cracked my screen and the digitizer is starting to glitch a little bit. I do the root and add Wifi Hotspot trick because I have grandfathered Verizon unlimited data, and I love this phone, no complaints except maybe the storage space. I also travel internationally to a specific country once per year and always purchase a SIM card for the month I stay there and it's worked great the last three years.
I've checked on Amazon and a lot of the reviews for "unlocked" Pixel 3a XLs say it's actually carrier locked to Verizon.
Also, I haven't updated my OS with OTA, just been lazy. Will devices that have taken updates still be rootable?
Finally, am I being myopic? Are there other Pixels or non-carrier specific, unlocked phones which I should be looking at ?
Thanks!
Been a while but I bought this one in late january from amazon and it was not locked to google in fact it currently running rooted los

Question Queastions

So I have had my pixel pro 6 now since may. About a month ago i dropped it and the screen cracked just the front anyhow I called up the people who insure my phone. ( so that I don't get people in trouble I'm going to leave certain names out of here I don't want no one to lose their job because of me or something like that). I them took I took my phone to a place where they can change the screen while you're waiting. they changed the screen for me and then when I got home in the rear camera wasn't working so I took it back to them and they said no problem we'll fix it. Here's the cool part. Part of the fix of the camera was going to be the replacement of the motherboard. Jokingly I told the guy hey get me a Google motherboard so I can get root. He said he didn't know if he could do something like that. But that there were two or three different variants for the motherboard. It was a Sunday afternoon so the guy told me he'd have to wait till the next day to order the part and that he would get back to me then. Well he didn't call me the next day but he did call me a few days later. He told me they could get me a generic board for my pixel. They wanted to make sure that's what I wanted. I said absolutely. I told him if they had different boards for different carriers than I wanted the generic one.
So I picked up my phone a few days later I get it home I go and unlock developer settings. Then I go into developer settings and sure as **** the OEM unlock I can toggle it back and forth. So I'm assuming now that I can unlock bootloader on it this Google pixel pro 6...
okay now with all that said. It has been a long time since my Nexus 6 ( the last phone I had with bootloader unlock) ( my last rooted phone). I like to be extremely careful when it comes to my phone cuz I really can't afford to buy new ones left and right.
I updated the phone to Android 12 or 12( sq3a . 220705.003.a3 ). Should I update it to 13 before unlocking the bootloader or should I unlock the bootloader from 12 where I'm at now.
Is there anything special I got to do to root this thing or just follow the guides because it used to be a Verizon variant of the pixel pro 6.
As of right now it's only had an inactive SIM card in it and I updated it over Wi-Fi and it doesn't even have my phone number in it yet. I haven't even signed into my Google account yet with it. It's completely like a brand new phone never it hasn't touched the Verizon network at all.
Will I have issues unlocking the bootloader and then rooting because it used to be a Verizon phone.
What's the difference between a Verizon Google pixel pro 6 and a Google Google pixel pro 6.
I'm sorry if I'm all over the place here and scattered. I just I got so many different questions and Im hoping somebody can answer some of them for me..
Unlock the bootloader since you can, then flash Android 13 to BOTH slots. Installing the factory image using ADB and fastboot rather than using the Google online tool is arguably a better option here as it flashes to both slots.
To root it, you'll need the boot image from the factory package - the other reason not to use Google's online tool for this - and a copy of Magisk. Copy both to a phone and use Magisk to patch the boot image. Then move the boot image back to the PC and flash the boot image using ADB and fastboot.
You should have no issues with the process as the motherboard isn't Verizon. I do believe however that the Google devices only have sub-6 5G and don't have Verizon mmWave 5G. You may encounter decreased performance though in my experience with an AT&T P6P on a Verizon MVNO network that hasn't been the case.
