Force closes and Reboots - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

Anyone getting a lot of force closes and reboots? I would say my Pixel 2 XL has rebooted 3 times in the first day with maybe 10 force closes. I wonder if it is my backup data from the Pixel XL (2016). Maybe a clean wipe of everything and start over?

I would definitely do a clean wipe, haven't seen anything like that at all. Mine has been working fine and taking everything I throw at it. Even did substratum themes and it's working great

Ok, will do. Thanks

Upon factory reset I get this, "your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly"

Unlocked bootloader? Normal if that's the case.

everything is 100% stock. I talked to google and they didn't hesitate in sending me a new phone.

Oh no - you corrupted your Pixel! I bet you corrupt little children too.......LOL - sorry to hear about your problems - I haven't seen anything like that and hopefully won't - glad to hear that GOOGLE was so prompt at sending a replacement. Good luck with that -

I had the same thing with mine. It was stock and setup as new device. Even rebooted a couple times when I was on phone calls. Google is shipping out a replacement.

[Q] Camera Force Closing. Tried known fixes.

Hello!
My camera force closes in both portrait and landscape modes. It does not give an error but rather just immediately closes. I do not have lastpass or any password manager. I have cleared cache and now performed a factory reset. The issue remains the same. Do I just need to exchange the phone?
Thanks!

If you've tried factory reset and rebooting and without installing any 3rd party apps that could maybe conflict, return that ish for a new one ASAP!!!
These phones aren't all perfect out the box and especially for first product runs. I'm actually surprised overall there's not more issues with this first product run release! Only issue i've seen besides this is some people getting distorted speakers.
Update
Thanks for the advice. I just finished an online chat with HTC support. We tried safe mode, ran a diagnostic on the camera and performed a different hard reset. No luck. They advised me to return it so I will be doing that today.

problem with keyboard htc one m8

after i update phone to 5.0.1 sometimes i have a problem with keyboard ,randomly they stopped work ,
when i tapping the place and keyboard should appear nothing happens.
after one or two minut going back :/
any experience with this,,
thank guys
i noticed the same thing...i had to reboot the phone few times...
Same issue here!
You can wait till christmas, but nothing works to get your keyboard back..except booting..
Yes same issue here. I've mentioned it not long after the Developer Edition received the OTA.
It's not even something that we can recreate, it's just completely random. It stays that way until a reboot and then it's fine again. Very irritating.

I had a problem with the keyboard lagging which got worse after the lollipop update, I was considering a warranty claim or rooting the phone and then the microphone packed in and the decision was made, I called the network who advised me to send it to HTC for repair which I did, it also had a few sync problems too, I asked the technical support guy about this problem and he said it would have to be reflashed, I sent it to them and they did the work, replacement microphones, replacement receiver, replacement lower board, replacement rubber something or other which I was told is something under the screen, replacement camera and a few others and of course it was flashed, I got it back after 8 days expecting my otherwise brilliant phone to be as it should be as I have come to expect from HTC, I switched it on and did the initial stages of making it work, I let it restore the last backup I made (off the phone with faults) which reported had failed but it started to restore the backed up apps, settings and my contacts, everything restored to how I had it before minus a couple of apps and a few notification settings, I have been using it for 2 days now however the keyboard has not been fixed by flashing it, unless the errors could have been brought in by the restoration? I have experienced the screen freeze and start jumping, jumping to the all open apps page, keyboard lag, keyboard is inaccurate, I went into the EE shop and they said that it should go back to HTC again, I haven't tried to hard reset it and go back to the factory settings and not restore the backup image this time, I've never had any problems with the 3 HTC phones I've owned, it is a good phone otherwise
Damn, I just went back to Dev Edition and sure enough it happened to me. Has this ever been fixed? This is way too annoying for me.
Possible Fix
For what it's worth, I went into App Manager to clear the Sense Input data as suggested by a previous poster (thank you) but did not have a 'Clear Data' button. There was a 'Settings' button though where I was able to turn off HTC Sense Input, after which my Swype keyboard immediately started working again. First time I've been able to resolve this SUPER annoying issue without rebooting the phone. Time will tell if it's a real fix; I'll update this post if not.
Phone is a brand new M8, still on stock 5.0.1

Apps Closing Unexpectedly

I don't know if anyone else is facing this issue but after update, apps close expectedly and it is very very irritating since important data is also lost in some instances. I have reset and cleared cache but nothing has improved.

Hi all I've this issue too someone have solved?
I have this exact issue. It started after the update to B183 firmware. I've checked all the battery saving settings, did a soft and hard reset, but the issue still lingers. I've called Honor support line and they asked me to hard reset the phone, but I told them that I've already did that. They asked me to take the phone to a repair center but I live in a island and the center is on the mainland.
Ive had an Honor 8 before and had no issues whatsoever with any updates. Honor dropped the ball on this one.
If you can rollback, that will be the best decision

Don't use any custom theme or font.
Also set your screen size to normal.
I too had this problem and did a factory reset. The issue persisted even after the hard reset but was gone in a day.
I guess give it time to settle down.

Screen Flashing When Locked

My screen flashes when the screen locks. It does this for a bit and then just randomly stops doing it, until it starts again. I've contacted Google and they won't let me do an RMA saying it's a known issue and should be fixed in a coming update. Anyway else have this issue?

Well hopefully. Thanks.
Well I'm running the April update and the flashing issue returned today again. Still no fix. Ugh.
Mine started doing it after the April update. I started uninstalling a bunch of apps (like rotation control) thinking it was causing the issue. But nope...

Not happening all the time. Does it for like 10 mins then stops for a week or two before randomly doing it again.
It's infuriating, as people keep thinking I'm taking their photo. Anyone heard anything more about a fix?
Long discussion in Pixel product forum. No fix helped yet. I have heard that Google isn't allowing replacements because of the flashing; which hopefully means that they are working on a fix.
We'll have a new security update in a few days - I have everything crossed!
My XL started doing it today. Think I updated yesterday to the 5 May patch.
Just rebooted and it stopped. But I'm sure it will return

Same here... Good so far.
Any updates on this? Still good on P beta? I have a brand new 2 xl (Literally 5 days old) and just started experiencing this today. Should I just wait for P to release or should I go back to the verizon store and get a replacement?
I just picked up the XL 2 yesterday and my screen started flashing today. Called Google support and they said it is a software issue and that they are working on a fix for it and will roll it out in an update. Seems rather strange they've heard about this for 6 months and still no update as of yet. My bet is that this "fix" is Android p.

Oneplus 5T suddenly lagging

Hi, so i've been using the Oneplus 5T for a year and just recently it started having issues with lag, making the phone unusable. I tried installing different roms without success(Oxygen OS Open Beta 23, Lineage OS 16, and Oxygen OS 5.1.4) and i have no idea what is causing it. This issue began while i was on the OOS beta 23 and it wasn't rooted, it just started behaving that way suddenly i didn't drop it or anything, also the screen blinks and start doing weird things sometimes. Did anyone had this issue? And what can be causing it? Thanks
Link to a video of my problem: https://youtu.be/17LOiftTf8w
Found the issue. Apparently it's caused by google play services, if i clear the data of the app the phone works fine and as soon as i install something from the store it starts lagging again
I always have this issue after finishing a clean setup on oxygen os beta. One restart for me solves and never returns.

What the hell is that lag issue seriously ??
I was thinking to flash a custom kernel and ROM but would it solve the issue ?
And the issue is completely random as well.
I have the exact same issue. Starts when i download something from playstore, open camera after a while or transfer big files e.g transferring data through oneplus switch. I have tried everything i could and didnt help. Upgrades, downgrades, root, trimming storage, clearing cache etc. Nothing is helping. If anyone finds a solution please tell me too. Really frustrated ?
The problem occured on official ROM but it comes back even on Lineage OS 16 (official too).
Do you think it could be a hardware issue ? If not, how come this problem happens even when flashing an other ROM ?

I had the same issue 2 months ago, I tried everything to fix the problem even did hard reset using oneplus' official program and it didn't work.
I came to a conclusion that it's a hardware issue so I sent my phone to repair and one week later I got my phone back fixed.
I recommend you to do the same if you still have warranty, the whole process took only one week. The customer service is really good.

Maybe try to reset your phone by using MsmDownloadTool, if that doesn't fix your problem then it must be a hardware issue.

The problem is that (not only i lost the warranty) but i'm not from the USA and sending them the phone is kind of hard and expensive, to the point that i think buying a new phone is cheaper. I reached to support anyways but i'm still waiting for a response after 3 days. What did they change on your phone?

I don't know what did they replace I didn't get any information about that. The screen is the same though they didn't change it, my guesses are either it's the motherboard or the motherboard to screen connector (it's called main flex I think, you can get on for about 3$)
