Hi Guys,
I have noticed this kind of thread in some of the other devices, so created one for the xz1 compact.
I really am waiting to get this device.
I had z3c and loved it due to its size and battery life. No other phone came close to it.
But unfortunately, xz1 compact is announced but not available in India anywhere.
Even sony has no information when and if it will be available in India.
So, guys, anyone with any information regarding this, please post it on here.
It will help me and some others also as well.
Thanks.
Sony has not launched any recent compact version in India, Z5 Compact, X compact have not been made available in India. I even contacted Sony for knowing about X Compact's India lauch which the service executives were not aware of.
My guess is they ll not launch XZ1 compact either.

So I'm looking for a nice 5 to 5.2" phone to fill the hole my xperia z3 compact left in my heart! Does anyone have this variant of the zuk z2? Is it rocking a more stable rom? I know MWC is just around the corner. Looking for a little help deciding. Thanks!

There is no such thing as international version. There are Chinese aka ZUK Z2 and Indian aka Lenovo Z2 Plus.
The stock ZUI is a big mess and not very polished, although it's frequently updated. There is official stable Nougat available.
Other than that, there is a great support for this device from the custom ROM devs, probably 2nd most popular SD820 Chinese phone after Mi5.
For the price it goes for, there's nothing else that even comes near it. The base Mi5 costs around 40 bucks more (3/32).
Now if you're coming from Z3 compact, you'll notice a difference, since this device (zuk z2) is as big as the original Xperia Z. I've came from Moto X 2013 and even after months I can still notice it's a bit larger than I was used to. Other than that, it's a great device.

I've bought my device on Banggood for 169$ with use of coupons. Shipment to my country (Poland) took about 20 days. Installing TWRP is "easy-peasy" and from this you have open way to installing various roms. If you won't like ZUI you can try official MOKEE rom (which gives more AOSP expreience with great battery life). I've flashed ZUI based on Nougat debloated by user Francko76 and installed Action Launcher 3. Works great as my daily driver and by the end of day (with my usage) I still have about 20% battery left. As I know, most frequent issues with this device are antenna and usb port.
Hi everyone, I'd like to share with you a video review I've made of the best compact devices of 2017, if not the best, our Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact. I've owned the device for awhile before making this real-life review and I also had the previous 2 versions, the Z3C and Z5C.

Enjoy, thanks for watching & Happy Holidays!
Anyone have this phone yet? Was thinking of getting it as a Sony compact line alternative. Want to ditch my Sony phone cause it keeps overheating... Does the Aquos have that issue? Also are there any custom roms available for it?
Today came 50.1.A.10.51 firmware. I downloaded Germany for XA2 with XperiFirm and checked its build.prop. What got me confused are this two lines:
Code:
ro.product.name=nile
ro.product.device=nile
As far as I know XA2 codename is "Pioneer", right? So why i build.prop it's called "nile"? Nile is it's codename on Sony's GitHub as well...
Anyone has any idea?
Got it, it's platform. But still strange. XZ devices have their own names in build.prop and here is platform name...
Pioneer is the device, while nile is the platform, which also includes discovery (xa2 ultra)
By the way, when I do getprop ro.product.name and ro.product.device I get H3223 for both which is what I've got
Yep. Now i know. It just made me confused that both XA2 and Ultra (Plus probably too) have platform name and XZ2, Compact and Premium have it's own name each (even if it's the same platform, at least for XZ2 and Compact).

Hey! You remember you from z2
Yea. Still have Z2. And here I'm only visiting. As I like to know what kind software I'm uploading I check at least one per platform. And seeing "nils" when I was expecting to see "pioneer" got me really confused...
Even if I would buy new Xperia it would be Ultra, but just got Mi Max 2. Other are to small for me.
And it's Sony's fault. If they wouldn't create Z Ultra than... I would get Galaxy Note 2 LTE and would blame Samsung for my "condition"
Hej, i was thinking of buying a used xperia Z1 compact, or a Z2 etc, an older Sony xperia.
I read some guides that explain you can install android 8 or even 9 on them, is this reliable? Obviously, a Z1 or Z2 or anything that old will be having an older android OS, limiting the phone to various apps and features.
By installing/modding a Z1 compact with android 9, would i get all the modern features that a 'modern' phone would have, that is equipped with Oreo or Pie?
Also, the Z1 compact can be rooted/modded to have 120fps/4k video recording already since 2014, will one get this functionality by installing android 8 or 9?
https://www.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-and-z1-compact-get-4k-and-120-fps-video-recording/
Found the below guides for installing a newer android, but these guides seem not so great?

Those phones can be had rather cheap used, and i really like those phones. Have one with a shattered screen, but fixing that would be more costly then getting another one used.
Also, another question, a Z2 which screen doesnt respond sometimes to touch, is that generally a software or hardware problem?
Thanks alot for the input! :highfive:
