My family has an old LG G4, it went through a bootloop once and LG repaired it by replacing the motherboard (I saw it with my own eyes). I think it's about to be two years old now. If the bootloop hits us once again, can I just replace the motherboard myself? Will that fix it?
Here is a guide that I can use:
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/LG+G4+Motherboard+Replacement/51202
Note: I did see the LG repair center do this, and the ifixit photos look similar to what they did.
Here is the board that I can buy:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/100...tem-for-LG-G4-H815-Mainboard/32806359520.html
Is it that simple? Just replacing the board will fix it?

Procedure is quite simple, but you need to have proper tools and work carefully..
I've replaced LGG3 mobo recently myself, and it was peace of cake
Since G4 boot loop issue is caused by the motherboard malfunction, replacing it will solve issue.

This question will be controversy...
In few months my G3 warranty will end... My friend who lately send his G3 for repair under warranty got back new G4.
(Maybe they were out of some parts? Doesnt matter....)
Curently I'm thinking about to check, would I also get new G4 instead of repaired G3?
So... Is there any way to damage it without leaving any hints for repair man?
This is fraud. If you want a G4, buy one. If you can't afford one buy something else or keep using your G3.

You could try a few second in the microwave (but not too much)
Edit: BUT REMOVE THE BATTERY

change your way of thinking dude, or you'll end up brutally " damaged " in jail.
Indeed. There is no comparable warranty on your rectum. Your friend was lucky. In addition, he wasn't actively intending to commit fraud. This grinds my gears...

To be honest I really like my G3 Only thing which bother me is overheating.
I will make hardware thermal mod but after warranty end Thought maybe there is a chance to solve it other ways.
Read that G4 CPU better manage thermal problems.

People like you are the reason the majority have to pay more for things such as insurance or extended warranties.
Don't like the phone? Sell it and save up fro something else.
So i recently hard bricked my h810 g4. (backstory post #2)
I was looking into replacing just the motherboard. I came across some cheap ones for t-moblile. Which would be nice because thats the service i use plus they are more rootable. Even it i get a blocked one, If i can get it to boot up i can sell it for parts with proof that it actually works.
Is it possible to swap the motherboard with one from a different carrier?
Also my phone was a beta phone. Serial starts with 503, so im wondering if i can even replace it with another h810.
Any advice would help.
Thanks
Ok. So i recently had the deathly ILAPO infinite loop and power off. supposedly because of a loose connection to a core on the dual core processor.
I have a beta test phone that i bought from craigslist about 6 months ago. So theres no way i am getting a warranty.
They cant even find my imei in their system. Even though its att.
Apparently there is no fix for the h810 models, you can only have it fixed under warranty.
So i found there was hope in one of two fixes. Put my motherboard in the oven (thatonly fixes it for a few hours and theres potential to ruin other components.)
or try to modify one of the tot files to get it to flash on my phone
Well, i got impatient and fired up the ol' hex editor. Got the big core disable from another rom to flash. But long story short my phone is now an extra hard brick. Like a metal brick.
The only screen i can get it to a picture of the battery of i plug it in without a battery.
No boot loader or anything.
Now its time to come to terms with not getting any pictures back and salvage it for what i can.

Edit again: Wait did you say it can fix my current hard brick problem?
Hey guys check this video below even V10 H961N model is beginning to have a bootloop issue like the G4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POr1M3C5ijc
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aT4gTWn4gpM
LG are digging their own graves if this keeps happening no more LG
so what you guys think ?should u buy the V10 or not ?
This thread is only intended as awareness to buy new LG phones rest is your choice
Let me put it this way, Its also like this with the G5. Thankfully there were less reports of it with the V10 and G5, but it is still out there.
buying the v10 is up to the person, if he really wants the phone, and has a way of getting it with a warranty, he should go for it.
Hopefully LG's next line of phones (V10 successor and maybe G6) won't have this issue.
But you can never know with LG.
Unless they actually fix this with next flagships, the G4 will probably be my last LG phone.
Its only begining to start in the V10... G4 that i also sold also had bootloop well atleast i was saved his loss i just hate LG for doing these things i feel sorry for him n feel bad for myself but it aint my fault its LG
im planning to buy a bootloop issue v10 for 70 dollars.do you think i could still make it work?can someone send me a link to fix it

yes thats the only way or unless you flash mooded tot for h815 but not sure if its remporary or permanent when you disable the 2 big cores. theres no TOT for american variants.
My Lg G4 H811 unlocked went into bootloop after one year of usage, i tried hard reset but in vain, than i went for this method described on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM9umec5aeo (since comments were positive for this) involving keeping hot cloth iron/press over motherboard. But after this my phone is dead, I don't know whether the iron did something with motherboard
Now what are options with me, can replacing Just replace EMMC can recover or motherboard needs to be replaced?
Can H815 motheboard be installed on h811?

For the most part the mbs are interchangable. And u do have to replace whole mb. As the problem lies in the big cpus not emmc
So i finally decided to buy a new motherboard for my G4 h815 after bootloops. (It does work again after applying heat to the CPU). But not for long.
I've heard that phones with older serial numbers have this issue but not new ones. So I'm looking at a few motherboards. And since I'm not rich i was thinking of this:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Main-Motherboard-For-LG-G4-H815-32GB-Unlocked-Europe-Version/112902057618?hash=item1a497cae92:g:FB4AAOSw3ZtaJQtb
Do any of you know if it comes with the ORIGINAL cpu and not some chinese ripoff? Also can you recommend a place to buy a new motherboard for good price (and hopefully bootloop free)?
And one more thing, Which serial number should i look for? Atm my bootlooped device S/N starts with 505. Thanks.
Thanks!
i change mine motherboard like this:
505K and is bootlooping
510K and is bootlooping
607K no bootloop
