you tube unable to crop to fit - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Recently purchased a note 8 Verizon variant from the local corporate store. Set everything up and phone was working great.
Then I lost it riding my motorcycle at about 80 mph on the freeway, phone was in an otter box case with a glass screen protector. Apperantly those belt clips don't hold the phone that well.
So I put in for an insurance replacement, (had original note 8 for less than a week) got the phone in the mail, new in box, full accessories, everything...I get this one setup and notice the crop to fit option on YouTube isn't available. It was on my original one, I didn't even know about it til I used the app either.
Everything I've tried is not working. I started with a firmware reset, no luck. I've tried different variants of YouTube from APK mirror and nothing.
It's nothing that would make me return the device, I love this phone. My last and only other Samsung phone was a note 4 and I HATED it so much I got rid of it after 3 months. Just want to remedy this issue.
A couple things to point out...
Both devices have been updated to latest VZW firmware, the first note 8 allowed me to use the feature on the updated firmware.
On the current (new) note 8 it automatically shows the video full screen in landscape as you can see logos and video titles, however it's still showing the black bars on the sides, the image fills to the top and bottom sides of the screen, but still has the black bars on both sides, and again no option (icon on screen) to allow it to be cropped to fit the screen (same as Netflix, Hulu, etc) it's EXTREMELY odd to me how two different devices owned in a span of two weeks from the same carrier, and running the same firmware can be missing a feature like this.
Any help is appreciated!!

I am on Verizon also and I too have the same problem. Let me know if you come up with a fix.

If you're good at following directions and navigating your phone, you should try the Non Root version in the 3rd post here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-iytbp-injected-youtube-background-t3560900
This app is fantastic. Laura has added "zoom to fill" which likely works along with "crop to fit" just like the rooted version. If you do give it a go, don't forget to also install the microG add on to login to your YouTube account if you want.

Have you found a way to fix this problem?i have experienced the same issue, it really drives me crazy!

I believe it was an app update that changed how the feature works
From one of the comments, "Now on S8, S8+ and Note8, the "ball" that Samsung has on their Samsung Experience software doesn't work. Because YouTube implemented it on-board inside the app.
I expect Samsung remove this "ball" in future updates... Because now is tottally useless and doesn't work
UPDATE 18:30h : IT'S GONE. Server side change in Samsung software disabled it on youtube."
http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/1...ngs-pinch-zoom-devices-like-galaxy-s8-lg-v30/

Youtube changed it for consistancy from an icon to pinch/spread to zoom in/out.

When you say crop to fit do you mean pinch to zoom the screen so it fills the display? If so I updated the youtube app but I actually hard to restart the phone/app to get the feature to work.

You have to zoom in with 2 fingers like you do with a picture or webpage. It was mentioned in the last YouTube update.

There really are two different cases

I received an email from Samsung earlier this evening about a new case, after my original order was cancelled. Here are the pictures.
Edit: since I'm new, I can't post links to pictures. Your loss. I registered just to post about this.
You can see that they reversed everything so that the camera works better while in the case.
Not knowing a new case was coming, I had ordered the original from Provantage. I received it today.
The old case has the following attributes:
- Camera difficult to use.
- When in shallow typing angle, GT is upside down.
+ When in easel position for watching videos, GT is rightside up.
+ With case open for portrait use, the folded flap gives you a handle for holding if you're right handed.
+ Charging can be done with case almost closed. Just tuck flap inside. This protects the GT glass.
The new case has the following attributes:
+ Camera easier to use.
+ When in shallow typing angle, GT is rightside up.
- When in easel position for watching videos, GT is upside down.
- With case open for portrait use, the flap is on the wrong side for holding if you're right handed and it dangles down.
- Charging has to be done with the case fully open.
Given the above, I prefer the original case.
OK, here is my attempt to post links to pics anyway. If this doesn't work, I give up.
h t t p : / / i51 dot tinypic dot com / 29ddyq8 dot jpg
h t t p : / / i54 dot tinypic dot com / j6ilxs dot jpg
A clarification on holding the GT in portrait mode. I'm right handed, so hold the GT in my left hand, using my right to write, draw or Swype. In this position, I prefer the power switch and volume buttons to be on the right side, so I can use them while holding the GT with my left.
Both case designs are a compromise. Like I said, I prefer the original and will be keeping it.
Reading your post, it seems the "original" that you speak of is the same that everyone else has. You're saying there is a reversed model? If you're referring to the pictures on the Samsung site, they are the same that have always been there, and show what you are presumably talking about the "new" case.
Check out this review which shows the actual case on a Tab, and then the rendering shown on the website (which you also posted)
It shows both, but the one shown on the website is an inaccurate depiction.
@Kevin Gossett - did you even read my post and look at the pictures? Answers to your questions are there.
I did read, and I also looked at the pictures. Do you actually have both cases? If not, then I stand by what I said. There is one version of the case, but what is shown on the Samsung site is an inaccurate picture.
If you do have both versions in hand, then I retract.
Boy, this 5-minute wait thing is really annoying.
To clarify further, here an exact quote from the email that Samsung sent me about my order that was cancelled. Note that it says "different case". Also, the pictures I posted were from that email.
"We recently spoke about the Carrying Cover Case for your tablet, following is a different case, however, very similar to the one you ordered."
No, I do not have both cases in hand. However, I doubt that Samsung would be sending me an email about a "different case" that includes pictures, unless there really was one.
I don't want to argue the point, as I like the case I have and don't really care whether there is a new one. I just wanted to let others know that according to Samsung, there was a different case available that apparently solves the camera issue.

There have been about 6 other threads about this same case and if you look inside these threads you will see this same discussion has come up numerous times regarding design reversal and within these 6 other threads you will also see photos of at least 2 of the "different cases" and will see they are all the same and Samsung's photos are screwed up.
There have been THREE different cases if you use the THREE different part numbers that have so far been seen on Samsung's site.
These are the 3 part numbers (so far) for the same case:
EFC-1B1NBECXAR
EFC-1B1NBEGSTA
EFC-1B1NBEBSTD
I have actually had the first 2 and they were identical despite the incorrect reversed photos on Samsung's site which have ALWAYS been there since the first day the case was listed before it was even released.
Of course it is possible the one you refer to is yet the 4th part number and is different but I doubt it from their previous track record. Samsung's reps know nothing and 90% of the time what they write is wrong. I was on the phone with them for an hour questioning the difference between the first 2 part numbers and they could come up with nothing other than sending me photos of both which were identical and reversed. Eventually I got both ... they were the same.

LOL .. that's a pretty useless photo and is the same one that has been on every web site selling this case since it was first announced.

I did a search of the three models you listed and to my surprise I found two websites carrying the EFC-1B1NBEGSTA model and in the pictures they look to have the camera hole in the opposite side (as in the Samsung picture).

Granted, the two websites are unknown to me and they could be wrong too.
Edit: Even more interesting, the review on the first site mention that the camera ends up on the bottom of the tablet when you put it up to type...

The one I have is the EFC-1B1NBEGSTA. The one I returned as a duplicate was the CXAR. When you stand them "full up" (like a movie screen) the camera is on top, when you use the shallow (typing stand ) position the camera is on the bottom.
All 3 of the cases I listed are identical. Maybe there is a 4th one, who knows. Samsung is using the same photos for all of them.

I see, but did you check the pictures on the the cellularparts.com website? They look like real pictures to me and the camera hole looks covered when the case is closed. Definitely confusing.

Cellularparts.com gets me: The domain www.cellularparts.com which you are trying to access is currently unavailable. This may occur for several reasons -- the name may have changed, or it may have moved to a new location. Please try to access the site later, or contact the site's administrator.
CellularSTORE.COM has the same INCORRECT photo that has been kicking around for weeks. It's the same photos that Samsung sent to me by email. That is the model I have and their photo is obviously wrong. Do you think they take their own pictures? These are all stock photos from Samsung.
123cellularsupply.com doesn't even show it opened, only the stock Samsung closed photo.
CellularpartsUSA.com doesn't have it at all.
Other than all the above, and unless they have YET ANOTHER model they are all identical. Think what you wish (or wish what you think). There would be no way to use this case in those 2 positions and NOT flip the TAB.

My bad, I was referring to http://www.cellularstore.com/, no need to take it personally.... I was just pointing those sites seemed to have pictures of the famous case with the opposite hole with the model number you mentioned....
I already ordered one from www.provantage.com because I don't mind that much the camera hole position so yes, "I still think what I wish".....
I'm not taking it personally. It's just the fact that I've had two different models of this case and know the photo is wrong. Plus the "incorrect photo" issue had been covered in at least 2 other threads.

I just received the 2nd order I made (EFC-1B1NBEBSTD) and it is also identical to my first case (EFC-1B1NBEGSTA). The representative told me that these different numbers simply refer to the packaging. The last one I received just came on a ziploc (no packaging). I have tried convincing their representative that the Samsung site is wrong and they should fix it and she didn't understand what I was trying to tell her so I gave up.
Regardless, all the 3 numbers above refer to the same case. I want the inverted one as displayed on the Samsung site but looks like I am S.O.L.
Has anyone gotten the inverted case with the camera hole close to the folding edge (farther from the lock flap)? If so, where did you get it from? What item number was it? And would you like to trade for the original one? I have one still closed here.

Switched to S3, no local search?...

So the only other smartphone I've ever had was a JB iphone 3gs. Had it for three years. I hated the Apple policies but after the JB it wasn't too bad.
I went to to the S3 for the ability to customize but there are some things issues and I think I am going to return it.
One of the big issues is what I think is called Local Search. On my 3GS I had a ton of apps and information stored in notes as well as songs etc etc. If I wanted to find anything I didn't have to thumb all around all I did was go to the search screen and start typing it in and if it was on the phone somewhere it would pop up. As far as I can see I don't have that on my S3.
The other issues are: Its impossible to see in sunlight. Lockscreen notifications aren't the same (could be fixed with apps i'm sure) and the last reason isn't the phones fault: I work construction and need to carry my phone but the S3 is so big it can't fit in my shirt pocket and still be able to button or snap the flap over it. If I put it in my pants pocket it would be crushed by the type of work I do. this isn't a short coming of the phone of course it's a byproduct of how I work.
I love the device I just wish I could see it outside and find my stuff thats on it.
I have three days left to decide to return or keep. Tick Tock
Yeah the low maximum brightness is a definite problem. You'll have to decide if you can live with it.
As far as the local search, that was removed from the US versions due to patent issues. As an alternative, you could install one of the latest Canadian firmwares instead. (Or an AOSP ROM, of course).
I was also disappointed with the screen brightness in sunlight. I previously had a Samsung captivate and it was much brighter in sunlight. I thought they used the same display technology.
But I don't have to use my phone in direct sunlight very often, and other than that I've been very happy with the S3.
Yea.... you can thank Apple for the whole lack of search thing.
If you root your device, you can restore Local Search by installing the GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk linked in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426.

I'm stuck between 4 and Edge

Well... thread says it all guys...
I was set on the edge, but now I'm not so sure. Something inside my mind is giving me doubt. Perhaps it's the lack of support currently. I currently have a Note 3 and I'm very happy with it. I wouldn't upgrade to something else if I didn't have to right now. But having ATT Next, I might as well.
Wife really liked the Edge and she's looking forward to trying something new. We just ordered her one. Should be here in a week or two... but I'm not so sure.
I looked at one in Best buy, and I can say I had no issues holding the phone or whatever people complain about. (I'm a lefty too). Perhaps big hands help. The screen is a cool idea and you can put some of your common apps on the side I suppose, but I have no problem using folders on my main screen.
Has anyone had both and tried it out?
I'm not even sure what I need in response. I've seen plenty of YT vids comparing the two, held them side by side and read the Edge forums to gain an idea. Something is telling me it's just a gimmick like Kindle Fire's 4 cameras.
Personally went with the Note 4 because I felt like the Note 4 Edge was gimmicky, and wasn't sure how well cases would really work on it... In the end, I needed a phone to last a while, so I went with a regular Note 4 with a solid case.
I was set to get the edge on it's debut date. Played around several times at the store. Liked it a lot but changed my mind. The deciding factor: bezels seemed big for my liking. Though that may have been a matter of perception.
I owned the Edge for 2 days and it's a really nice phone, but the edge screen is very gimmicky. After a day it seemed pointless to have it. Also, the battery life seemed worse than my Note 4.
I ended up returning the Edge, getting a Note 4, and pocketing an extra $100.
The Edge is good, but the extra screen just isn't worth the extra $100 in my opinion.
I too drooled over the edge, but passed in the final analysis in favor of the note 4. I am fortunate enough for cost to not be an issue when choosing a handset but I saw the edge quickly being shelved if purchased. 2 issues prevented my purchase as simply another toy, let alone daily driver.
Since the screen edge screen is on the right side the power button is moved to the top. I have years (decades) of using Samsung devices in my left hand and having the power button on my index finger. The move of the button to the top is not ergonomically sound for me.
Second was that some of the application screens would wrap around to the full extent of the edge screen, especially in the touchwiz settings. I found it quite annoying and was not willing to wait for Samsung to first fix it, then get the fix passed through ATT at some future date.
My 2 cents FWIW, but if the wife has one coming play with it and see what you think.
My 2 cents about the keeping my Note 4 is:
Gear VR!
I've got the Note 4 and the Edge right now. Just picked the Edge up today. I do like having my favorite apps on the Edge screen as opposed to taking up space on my home screen. The only time the Edge screen has been an issue so far is taking pictures. The capture button seems very sensitive and I ended up taking 14 pictures of the same thing. The battery life isn't as good as the Note 4. This is to be expected with a 3000mAh battery as opposed to a 3220mAh. If battery life is important to you I would recommend going with the Note 4 or if you plan to use the Gear VR. Also, the screen protector for the Edge doesn't stay on very well due to the curved portion of the screen.

New Pixel C but quality issues

So I received my Pixel C this past Thursday and have been using it. I have noticed some quality issues though now with a weekend of use. I have a gap in the corner by the power button and the screen. Not big enough to fit a finger nail but it will fit 3 posted notes thick in the gap. It runs about 3in down starting at that corner. Another one I ended up noticing just this morning while using it without the keyboard is that when holding it land scape and touching the screen about 3in from the left and 3in up from the bottom the screen makes a clicking noise every time. Just in that one spot. If I move a even a 1/4in any direction but that spot it doesn't happen. I don't even have to push that hard to cause it.
I love everything about this tablet so far but these two things really bug me. What has been the success rate at getting an RMA for things like this? Will they send me a new tablet first and then I can send mine back or do I have to send mine back and be without it for a few days?

IMO the click is a design flaw, every Pixel C I've had (I RMAd mine once) and basically read about has this click.
I'm on my second with the gap between the screen and case below the power button. Not great
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Theses complaints of the tiny gap are pretty nit-picky, IMO.
I work on tons of devices as a part of my day job and you come to accept that there is a certain level of variation in literally everything. Nobody will notice that tiny gap but you and it literally does not affect the function of the device. I've seen plenty of apple products with the same kinds of inconsistencies.
Yes, these devices aren't cheap... but they're not a to be taken for granted either. My Pixel C has these gaps, and I still am enjoying the hell out of it. We are privileged to have such easy access to such awesome things nowadays.
#FirstWorldProblems
@Yadao, it's still a wonderful device, but there's no reason to accept poor build quality where one section does not fit with another. It should be às flush as it is around the rest of the screen. Anything less is faulty.

Hi, can anyone please share to me whats the name of this tablet ro.product.model and ro.product.device ? Thanks!
ro.product.model=Pixel C

Hmmm if other have this gap even after RMA maybe it is not even worth trying then and is just an issue with the power button area.

I don't think it's a design flaw, as noone would plan for such an issue and mine does not have it at all! What I do have, however, is a nasty yellow splotch in the corner where the charging port is located. Got the RMA confirmation today and while I find Google's customer support in Germany is admirable, I'm not so impressed with the quality control of the Pixel C.
Not sure if this is the best thread to post this in but I didn't really feel it appropriate to start a thread on this.
Based on what I've read everything seems to be working well with the Pixel. I'm considering buying one but I've got one reservation: It uses an Nvidia SoC. I've struck out on multiple tablets using Nvidia chips - TF201 (Tegra 3), TF701 (Tegra 4), Nexus 7 (Tegra 3?) and most recently Nexus 9 (Tegra K1). Each tablet performed extremely well out of the box. I was very pleased for the first few months but eventually the "jank" came in. With the Asus tablets it was blamed on NAND flash speeds and other issues. I don't know what the excuse is for either Nexus' but my 9 stutters harder than my Snapdragon Nexus 7 2013. So far the only tablet to stand the test of time is my 2013 Nexus. The common theme here is Nvidia chips.
I'm looking for some level of assurance or confidence that this tablet won't go the route of my previous tablets with Nvidia chips. Obviously user experience right now doesn't tell me a lot because my tablets ran great for a while. Does anyone have any technical knowledge to clarify the issues with my previous tablets and explain what will keep this one from degrading the same way?
Apologies if this has been discussed in another thread. I tried to find something that answered my question directly.
Mine has started to reboot randomly since there last MM update :-\ will RMA potentially refund if it doesn't go away.
I'm feeling a bit meh about this tablet seems a lack of development going on...might just refund and grab a surface 3 pro.

You don't seem to be the only one suffering from that problem. To be fair, the Surface 3 Pro costs more than twice as much as the Pixel C. However, at some point one has to come to terms with the principle of "you get what you pay for". http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/0...om-reboots-after-the-may-over-the-air-update/
I must've hit the lottery because I got mine in December and I don't have a single issue with it.

Same here, running today Android N preview 3, never had any hardware or quality issues
I have the exact same clicking screen issue on the Pixel C that I received, sounds like it is in the exact same place as well. I contacted Google and they sent out a replacement without any questions and guess what, the replacement has the same problem only even louder, certainly seems like a design flaw and don't know whether I should bother trying for a 3rd unit.
On a side not my first replacement was lost in transit and Google customer service was terrible in dealing with that so hope nobody else gets faced with the same problem
My experience has been similar to most in this thread. I ordered the 64 GB version.
Device 1 - Worked fine initially, and then I noticed the clicking noise/tactile sensation on the left hand side of the device. I contacted Nexus support through chat and was sent a replacement unit no questions asked. When Device 2 arrived I began evaluating the two to decide which to keep. However, suddenly Device 1 began having severe display issues. Namely, the right hand side of the screen started showing a smeared jumble of pixels during boot up. Once booted up if I tapped the right hand side a few times the display would update to the current display then freeze again. This rendered the device unusable. Therefore for better or worse I had to use Device 2.
Device 2 - Out of the box I found Device 2 to have a loud clicking noise near the power led strip. I could actually feel the case flexing/clicking as well. Thankfully after a full charge that noise went away. Of course the left hand side of the device had the same clicking noise as Device 1. I contacted Nexus support over chat, and found them to be much less accommodating this time. I was told that the clicking noise was a part of the design and that it had no affect on the performance/quality of the device. I explained that I had a hard time accepting that considering the first device's touchscreen/display failed me shortly after I noticed the clicking noise. I requested a supervisor/manager contact. Initially the manager towed the same line and refused to do anything for me. I reiterated time after time that a 600$ device should not have case flex/popping noises. Finally I was offered a third replacement with the caveat that it could very well have the same clicking noise. This lead me to believe that the issue is widespread and google doesn't care much to fix it. I accepted the offer for a third device as long as I was assured the device would be NEW and not a REFURB/RETURN.
I'm currently awaiting the arrival of Device 3. I also have a Lenovo Miix 700 (Core m7, 8GB RAM, 256 GB SSD) I picked up from Costco for 799.99 which I am considering. If the third Pixel C has issues I may just stick with the Lenovo.
I also tried the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S, but I found the keyboard/case's two positions to be unacceptable. Neither was comfortable for me, and the 4GB of ram with a core m3 was just not enough power for Windows 10 IMO. A shame considering the fit/finish was exceptional and the display was awesome.
In the end I may end up waiting for a new Surface model which features Type C, or a better Android tablet.
To those of you who have Pixel C units without clicking I an envious because other then that I really like the device. Though I am still puzzled by the lack of GPS/NFC functionality.

Question Galaxy z fold 3 worth it?

Hey this question mostly guess for the people that have had their phone since launch Has it been worth the money? I was wondering how do u like it? and Is the battery as terrible as every YouTuber makes it seem? I just ordered and I'm so excited
Yes it's worth it!
Biggest downer for me is no e-sim.
Battery life is fine.
And most importantly the camera is FAR better than youtube reviewers are saying.
Again in my experience.
I got it a few days before launch day and have loved it every day since. The big screen is totally worth it! I almost never use the outer screen, just occasionally for things like telling the med reminder app I took my med if my phone is already folded, or camera preview so I can take a more quality selfie with the back cameras (phone open), etc. Battery life is good for me. Speed and storage (larger version) are great, screen quality (on natural not vivid) is great, etc. The T-mobile connection issues suck and I hope they are fixed soon, but not all T-mobile customers have the issue (my friend in another state doesn't). But, the temporary fix helps - I just need them to fix it so it can roam so I'm not worried when traveling anywhere. Finding a good case isn't fun, though. I like the one I have now, but I don't think it would protect it very much from a drop/fall.
I've had it since launch..............believe it or not, I use the outer screen more than the inner one. I have taken it on vacation a couple of times. The most recent trip was to Hawaii back in December. Just before we left, I found a case that had a built-in kickstand and actually added more bulk to the phone than I realized..........well, that made the device cumbersome carrying it around on hikes and to the beach. Sometimes, depending on what shorts I was wearing, I would carry the phone in my left hand while walking around Waikiki just so it wouldn't "weigh" me down. I went back to the slimmer case after I got home. Phone has been out since August, and haven't seen anybody else with the same phone. I thought I would on vacation, but trips to busy airports, shopping malls, etc...........didn't see another person with the ZFold. I know it's expensive but you see big iphones everywhere and those aren't cheap either. I do miss the width of my Note-10+ instead of this slimmer one. Was tempted to do the trade-in for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, but will probably wait to see if the ZFold4 is any better and might upgrade to that. Only problem is, the trade-in value of the ZFold3 will drop by then. I hear the next Fold will have the S-pen and a 5000mah battery, not sure if that is enough to upgrade. Currently, you can get $900 trade-in through Samsung, T-Mobile chat person said I can get $1000 through them..............but will probably hold on to mine for now. I don't do any multiple apps tasks, but probably should try to do more to maximize its use and justify why I got it. The 5G on it, for the most part, isn't great. I was getting the 5G UC symbol a couple of weeks ago and not anymore. There was a software update last week and I think it was a T-mobile update to get rid of that symbol, didn't include the Feb security patch. Currently with the Speedtest app, getting 20.9 download, and 6.57 upload. It was way better than that prior to the update.............thanks T-mobile!

I need to shut up, as I picked up my phone today and it jumped out of my hands. I tried to catch it, but couldn't quite get it as it bounced off my fingers and onto the hardwood floor inner screen face-down. I thought it was a goner when I picked it up and the touch sensors were not working on the inner screen (tried to get to the notification I needed to respond to as I took my med), but I turned the screen off and back on again and it was working fine again. Tested most of the diagnostics in the Samsung Members app and everything was fine. Phew!
The front screen side of the case did slide off a bit in the fall, but it didn't break and slid back on when I picked it up. I do use double-sided tape so it doesn't slide every time I open the phone (don't want to scratch the front screen), but it wasn't enough for the fall.

Nice to hear that it didn't break. I think I dropped mine (folded) about a month or two after I got it and nothing happened, case protected it.....seems to be very durable device.
For me personally. Its worthed it. I upgraded from my 1 year old iPhone 12 Pro Max. Now i can freely buy accessories without worrying that it wouldn't work(because not all accessories are MFI certified in Indonesia).
And not to forget that the Z Fold 3 when closed is not that wide, thus making it easier for 1 handed use.
Yes and no chance to change it!!!
I have it since the launch. I have also a Iphone 13 pro. I have tried meanwhile s21 and Pixel 6 and Mi11 Ultra. So now a couple of months of using I can only say: Once Fold and forever Fold. Yes it's heavy and bulky. But Yes is the only one TABLET that is good for one hand operation and phone calls and can you carry in pants pocket. And the camera is not super duper but is top, and the battery (SOC Snapdragon) is far better than any other Exynos on the market and on the planet.

So am I! I'll be paying for this phone for the next 2.5 years, so it needs to stay in one piece for a long time to come. My previous phone I had for 5-6 years, but of all it wasn't a folding phone. A friend of mine dropped his Fold 3 on tile and had to get a new front screen protector, but it otherwise survived the fall.

I actually like the bulk of the phone when closed because it makes it easier to hold and carry without dropping it (when I dropped it, it was open to the inner screen), and I'm saying this as a woman with small hands (medium glove size).
Took a look at the fold3 in an at&t store the other day. Looks like they have the first generation bugs squished. By the time I'm ready to buy a new one, I'll probably get the fold 4 or 5.
Love the phone. Love it so much I have a second as a backup in case this one breaks (truth!). I love the ability to use the front screen one handed. I love having that big inner screen when multitasking or reviewing/editing large documents. The only thing I also wish I had was a zoom/macro lens. It doesn't even have to be a nice one, just a passable one. But I don't take many pictures so I usually let that slide.
I've had mine since October 2021 and it's been one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had with a gadget. The display is amazing, it's fast, camera is decent enough, I love tablet mode, like really, really love it. I definitely can't wait for the next generation of foldables because it's just going to get better. It's definitely worth buying now however, if your still having doubts.

I bought the Oppo Find N (foldable) as my backup. It's actually a really awesome phone, with features and design choices that I find better than my Z Fold 3. One thing is it's size, it's fantastic, definitely the better choice on Oppo's side to choose such a wide design. It's even better when you use it in tablet mode as it's aspect ratio is 16:9, which means more apps support it better.
for me i like having the 2 phone factor one big one small, so I am never really bored looking and using it. I find when I am home and chilled i use the big screen more but when i am out and about the small screen, If only they can cut away some of the weight it would be perfect.
It’s just an incredible experience. I have been a loyal Note fan since the first Note, but after owning the Fold 3 I can safely tell you that I won’t go back to a slab phone, even to a Note

I've had a z Fold 3 since the 1st month it came out. Great phone but I ended up pre-ordering the S22 Ultra just to test the waters. Been a note fan since the early days. Just received the S22 ultra this week and it's also a great phone. The integrated s pen and bigger battery has definitely tipped the scales in favor of the S22 ultra so I'll be returning the Fold. I will miss that huge screen though!
Had the phone since february, dropped it once and although the front body dented a little bit, the phone is still working well. Been using the bigger screen for media and the smaller screen for calls and short messages. IDK why some doesn't have e-sim but mine does.
I've had the Fold 3 for around a month now, as I had to replace my Note 9 N960N. I can honestly say that it is the best purchase I have made this year. It is such a good device, I can use it for everything from gaming to media consumption for work. It is truly a very versatile device.
The fact that you can use it as a normal phone and open it up to a tablet for a more completely experience blows my mind every time I use it.
