Getting confused trying going back to Stock - HTC 10 Questions & Answers
Hey guys,
i have a european HTC 10 with root, stock android 6, s-on and Team Win Recovery Projekt 3.0.2-6. I wanna go to full stock (stock recovery) and update to official Nougat
I googled and found people saying to use RUU. My CID is HTC_034 and I downloaded RUU zip for this CID.
I put it on my root sd card and enter downlaod mdoe wit hvol down and power, confirm with vol up and get a error that something is missing. (Edit: 19 RU_MAIN_VER_FAIL os-version in adnroid-info missing or i)
Did I do something wrong? Or is my dl corrupt?
are there other ways?
Is this way also for stock recovery?
thanks in advance

No need to lock. Did you rename the zip on your SD card ?

yes, i named it to 2PS6IMG. it starts but then gives the error.
I tried it now with RUU for 1.95.401.4 and the same error
Can I skip RUU and go directly to fastboot for twrp backup and stockrecovery?

The ruu will give you stock recovery. With twrp, just flash the latest version after ruu

It took me a while since my internet is slow
So, after dl the right version it worked. I had trouble with my drivers to get fastboot to work but it did in the end. I locked the bootloader after that because the video i followed said so after RUU (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIX94bxx6VM).
Now i think i should have flashed TWRP first to get everything original right? With a locked bootloader it wont work or will it?

You can't get "locked" status without S-Off. You can only get "relocked" status which will show that the bootloader was once unlocked.

If it works after an RUU then there is no need to send it for repairs. It's probably from the ROM you are running or some other software related issue.

I'm aware of that, however that wasn't asked and I was expecting the next question to be about relocked status. Besides, even with s off and locked status ( which I have ) there is still a message on set up regarding the device being a test device anyway

[Q] How to install Android Revolution HD
Hello, I've been recently trying to install few times the Android Revolution HD 10.2 ROM however I always fail. Same happened with previous version. After the ROM installs, i hit reboot and then nothing. It just freezes on the htc logo (with "developer" text) and nothing happens. So my question is, what am I doing wrong? I have no problems with installing ViperOne and all of the non-stock based ROMs. I can't get S-OFF, so I hope it isn't neccessary Please keep in mind that I'm pretty new at using HTC One m8, however I have experience with android.
If you have the HTC__001 cid or any which is WWE/ Europe you can and MUST flash the firmware.zip for 2.22.401.4 ...otherwise it won't boot or many things will be broken...all necessary things can be found in each Rom thread, how to flash things and what you need etc...Also which recovery do you use and did you flashed a few mods or so afterwards?

Now I would have to find out how to do that (after I do that, will I be able to normally downgrade to 4.4.2 or will there be some problems?) There's flashtool for Xperia's, Odin for Samsungs and is there a simillar software for HTC devices (I have something called All-In-One_Kit)? I've seen also something like RUU, but I would need to fix fastboot, as it isn't working after fresh install of Windows. My CID: HTC_032 Recovery: TWRP 2.7.1.0 Kernel: Unknown, the one that comes with ViperOne (Already tried flashing ARHD with elementaX kernel) Current version of firmware: 1.54.401.5

Yea arhd is like stock Rom and yea nothing special about it
Hahaha aww man, do you not read what each ROM does before installing it so you know beforehand what you're getting yourself into?
Nah, I didn't. I saw many people were using it so I thought it must be good, but it isn't (no special features). I often see people who aren't able to get arhd working...but I really don't know why..the normal cwm recovery doesn't work as it should...use instead twrp or Philz...both are working foo and with Philz backup and restore is working where in twrp most of the m8 are having problems :/ I really don't have problems to install a custom Rom. I got the phone, tried it one day stock, wanted to get a custom Rom, unlocked boot loader flashed custom recovery and afterwards Rom and elementalx kernel...without problems.. few months later was able to do s-off with sunshine and after that most things where again easier mr.loverlover said: Nah, I didn't. Can't flash rooms anymore
Hi, I've been a happy user of Mustaavalkosta CyanogenMod 11 custom room till the day when I had to flash that boot.img 'cause my DHD stopped booting. I looked for adb and HTC drivers, tried many but none worked. Then I read somewhere that you can use a PD98IMG.zip, insert the boot.img in it and flash it using 4EXT Recovery. Did that, now each time I try to flash a room, I get this message: "set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed E:Error in /sdcard/cm-11-20141020-UNOFFICIAL-ace.zip (Status 7) Installation aborted" Is there a way to recover my device?
Status 7 means incompatible recovery

I have had the last security update pending for the last 2 months but haven't installed it since i couldn't be bothered to flash stock recovery. So i suppose i won't get around flashing stock recovery if i want the OTA marshmellow update correct? and will i stay rooted after the update?
No you will have to flash the stock recovery, & there is a way of achieving root via the statement approach in this threathttp://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-stock-unlocked-developer-sense-7-t3262894 ---------- Post added at 05:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:34 PM ---------- John3:16Godislove said: No you will have to flash the stock recovery, & there is a way of achieving root via the statement approach in this threathttp://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/rom-stock-unlocked-developer-sense-7-t3262894 Click to expand... Click to collapse Unlock your bootloader via htcdev.com (instructions are given there as well as the method) Flash the latest unofficial TWRP recovery in fastboot Then either flash the latest SuperSU.zip or the ROM of your choice (most HTC 10 ROMs come pre-rooted) with TWRP
Google should be pushing Assistant out to all android devices, regardless of root status now. I've got it on my HTC 10 running Nougat and I haven't done anything.
