Missing features?!! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions & Answers

Ok seriously, there are some features mentioned about the note 8 that somehow are missing on the Verizon model. For example a good one is the wide angle shots! I mean wtf?! Pretty pisst about this one. Wonder what else is missing

What do you mean by wide angle shots? I notice we don't have swipe down for notifications. Or that rebranded system optimizer setting that's always missing. We always end up with the most locked down firmware, but I'm not aware of missing camera modes.

[Q] Camera Touch and Shoot disables after resolution change

It looks like the Touch and Shoot feature disables automatically after the camera resolution is changed. After that, there is no way to get it back other than to clear the camera app's data. I'd like to use Touch & Shoot with a higher resolution, has anyone been able to do this? If not, why doesn't it get re-enabled automatically after I change the resolution back to the default setting? A bit of a let down but hoping someone can offer some advice.

I know this sounds stupid but did you make sure the top and bottom buttons are off the display too? It won't work if they are. You could try one if the camera mods in the dev section maybe they will help.

Where is this option anyway? I've been trying to find it but it's not there.

Camera changes after update 10c

Can someone confirm, when changing the shutter speed to 1 Seconds and up.
On broad daylight the screen isn't blanked up all white anymore?
When I play with the settings in dark environment everything is still working when I look at the pictures, only not visible on the shooter display. Changes under 1\2 seconds are still visible on the screen.
My camara app version is 4.52.34.6

White screen here. Which makes sense as the photo will turn out white as well
And isn't that normal considering the fixed aperture ?

{Request} Disable SRGB setting

Hello,
Just a request, because I'm sure Google will disable it sooner or later anyway. Is there any developer out there or anyone for that matter that would know a way to enable access to the SRGB screen setting or have an ADB command to enter that would disable it? Please let me know if it's possible and as always thank you in advance

settings>magnifying glass in top left corner>type sRGB in the field>change the setting to whatever you want.
works like this for stock software (old pixel xl and my current essential phone).

The only option for color changing is this:
I'm pretty sure sRGB is a secure setting, so it can't be changed via adb or any non-root method.

On the Pixel 2 XL? Sure isn't the case on my stock Pixel XL (I stopped rooting once I got the Nexus 6P). The mode to toggle sRGB is right there in the developer settings under "Running Services" on the XL but completely missing in the 2 XL.
Considering how much people are whining about it, they'll obviously release some sort of update to allow people to disable it.
what the hell is wrong with you people
nothing is wrong with the display
i went in a verizon store today and checked out the XL and I dont see why theres such a fake outrage

It's not that something is really "wrong" with the display. It's that Google for whatever unknown reason decided to tune a high end POLED display to sRGB mode which tends to wash out colors.
Coming from a Note 8, the display is noticeably less sharp. Colors are off from a more saturated Samsung panel. Yellows look dark and angled viewing has blue tints.
It's not bad, it's just different, and a lot of people are noticing it. Many from Android media outlets. Apparently Google has acknowledged the display issues and is going to modify it.

Has anyone with the phone tried looking in some of the activities options which typically have many setting hidden but available to launch from? That's the first place I'm going to check when I have the phone. Either use a launcher with activity ability or install an app:

Installed the app and ran it, it only shows a list for itself and Nova. Long press on itself create shortcut doesn't do anything. Settings, home app doesn't show activity launcher. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it's not compatible with Oreo as the last update was 2015.

Yeah you have to switch to all activities from the top pulldown
On 2nd thought, mine crashed on my N6p on Oreo so it may not be compatible. Try installing Nova Launcher. It comes with activity launcher. I believe you just press and hold somewhere on screen and choose activities.

Can you see sRGB in that app somewhere? I cant. I see developer options but none of the things inside it. Don't know enough to set up the advanced one.

Tap activity at the top and scroll to settings. Open it up and start searching. You can launch the activity by hitting the play button. Some of them may crash but some lead to hidden menus that are not otherwise accessible through normal settings. Like Bandmode (be carefull) or phone info.

Interesting. Im curious, how does that work? What would be scrolling? How would you send it and how would someone viewing it see it? I feel dumb but Ive never heard of this and Im super intrigued.
By "scrolling", is that just like a long screenshot? I would love that sort of native functionality, I've always had to use an app for it...I'm currently on one from the play store called Screen Master...

Yeah, I think that's what the OP is referring to.
Samsung's (at least the Note series, not positive on others) had it built in, where if you take a screenshot there would be a button that says like "scroll down" or something, and it would scroll a page length down, and you could keep doing it. The result being a long image.
Screen Master seems like a nice app for it.
Wish it was just built into the screenshot capture though

I came from a Note and ya I miss scrolling screenshot. I use LongShot now https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.leavjenn.longshot
It works well. I just wish it was directly integrated into the screenshot function.

Fingerprint Camera

I was just wondering if there is any way to see what the fingerprint camera sees. Has this been done yet?

Yes, is a camera. It reads the fingerprint. That's why those pixels turns on and illuminates that area, acting as a flash when you take a picture.
Yes, my question is...there is some MODS to use it such a front camera to take a picture??? it's hide behind the screen, no notch, no hole, no popup camera...it's perfect
