It's not as simple as which headphones are good. It matters what you want from your headphones. What's more important, bass vs. highs? Do you require an inline remote and mic?
Need good bass? Probably want something with a dynamic driver.
Are highs most important? Balanced-armature is what you're looking for.
This is all a simplified answer, but every good pair of IEMs has different characteristics suited to different genres of music.

A very useful review
This is really very useful and a clear review with lots of pics. Currently I am using Soundmagic ES18 (in-ear) and just want to upgrade to on-ear or over-the-ear headphone. I came to this decision because I happen to listen on my friends Sony MDR-XB400 headphone. I feel the base was really good and smooth. When I asked for a feedback about the headphone (Since he is using it for more than 6 months) and he said it will be even better if you use Over-the-ear headphone. I searched for over-the-ear and finally decided to go for the Sennheiser HD 202 II headphone (Since my budget is Rs 2000).
I got to read your review and I am already a user of SoundMagic so I am curious to know about this SoundMagic P21 headphone. So do you know about the Sony MDR-XB400 and the Sennheiser HD 202 II headphone..? If so then which one will you recommend. Is it possible for you to compare all these three. Sorry for too many questions.
Thanks in advance,
-Yuva.

Don't have those headphones, but know they are tuned for extra bass, better for hip-hop and EDM. P21 is more balanced with just a little bass boost, more for a general all genre listening, maybe better for vocal tracks and more detailed listening. So, not really in the same category.

Finally!!! They made E80 available on Mod Edit: Affiliate referral sales link removed. in 3 colors: gun metal, gold, and red!!!
What about soundmagic e50 review, I'm waiting for your review, after that I'll make my decision to buy anyone out of two.

Sorry, no plans for E50 review. E80 is only $7 more and it's supposed to have a better sound quality.

How is bass in sm80 compared to brainwavz s1 and can it be increased to basshead level after applying eq?

Oh no, it's nowhere near basshead quantity, we are talking about reference neutral quantity/quality. Even with EQ you will not have enough rumble in sub-bass.
NIce review!
I bought E80 about two month ago and I am satisfied with it but as I was hoping to be blown away by the sound of these iem,it was not the case. Now I considering to buy audio technica ath m50x, how they will perform compared to e80? Please advise..
Can any one comment on the performance of these with mobile phones? Will devices like Nexus 6P or OnePlus 3 power these sufficiently?
A lot better ! I owned the m50x , the sound is really clear with a lot of bass

I still highly recommend it, not just for the fantastic sound quality, but also great build quality. These in-ear really last!
Guys, I bought the US HTC 10, so it came with no headphones.
Which ones do you recommend? I'm really interested in the Sennheiser CX 5.00 but I'm not sure if they're going to take advantage of the DAC. WHat other recommendatios do you have?
Thanks in advance.
I got the HTC "hi-res" earphones as I'm in Europe. They're very good for a bundled pair and I thought they were too bassy but then I set up a audio profile for them listening to frequencies and they sound fine. That function actually works!
I haven't listened to the cx 5.00 for a while but as far as direct experience on the HTC 10, I'm pleased with
-Sony EX650ap, same price range, quite a nice, refined sound.
-Sennheiser HD25 i-ii, sounds just lovely, get deafeningly loud but twice the price and not an iem...
-UE 700 really takes advantage of the dac, so maybe another dual driver like the Xiaomi Hybrid or One More?
This phone is even able to drive my HD600s to acceptable levels. I'm tempted to hang on to my Tidal hi-fi account after the trial ends.
Original ones...
Sent from quite brutal hTc 10 ..
The original earphones are very good for a bundled earphone but aren't really anything special in the grand scheme of things. Those Sennheisers will probably be a decent upgrade. Otherwise, there are plenty of options available online; the HifiMan RE-400 was just on sale for $60, the Shozy Zero can commonly be found for the same price and offers a bassier alternative. The Xiaomi Pistons earphones are also very good and extremely cheap, the Pistons 3 go for around $15 whilst the triple driver hybrid "pro" model is around $25, both are an absolute steal.
I've got some Bose Soundlink over ear headphones and the sound is immense...
Shure SE215
Klipsch X10
Too bad we didn't get aptx HD for those times when I can't use wired cans.
Sony MDR7506 with 24 bit flac of Miles Davis' Kind of Blue.
I'm using the B&O H7, which sound great too me. Was using the Beats Studio 2 before that. The sound quality was decent but it was lacking deep bass.
HTC has always seem to nail it in the audio department.
Sennheiser m2
Wired. No Bluetooth.
Still have to finish burn in with the original htc in ear but I already don't like them, too bassy! I do really love the Zero Audio carbo tenore, they are worth a lot more than the price they're asking for!
AF45m By Audiofly with Vyper4Android FX... Sound Is Very Very Good
Just paid $20 for Xiaomi In-ear Hybrid Earphones Pro. Triple drivers and they sound great!
I use Westone W40. All cool)
I'm using my old HTC8 Harmon Kardon ear buds for mobile use and Sennheiser Momentum 2 over the ear, corded headphones for home use. Both sound nice with this phone but the Sennheisers are my favorite. Being a decent set of over the ear headphones with a lower impedance, means this phone has more than enough power to get them sounding nice without a stand alone amp. I listen to a wide variety of music but they do a good job. Real comfortable and nice build quailty

They're definitely becoming renowned for it, which is great because I think most manufacturers see it as an afterthought. The bundled Hi-Res earphones are so freakin' good.
is here someone from Taiwan, who may be interested in helping me to buy the HTC Hi-Res Audio Earphones in the HTC store?
if so please contact me priv.
thx in advance
Using a pair of Audiotechnica ATH M50X with it. Its awesome!!!
to big to me, I like small earphones, and those original form HTC are very good to me, but can't bay it anywhere.
Hello guys. Having used LG V20 and Soundmagic E10C, i always admired the audio quality. I purchased LG G7 recently and used it with E10C earphones thinking that stock earphones are crap. However out of curiosity i hooked up the stock earphones and voila these are even better than Soundmagic E10C. Crystal clear highs, better balance, more spacious and resolving earphones.
I wonder are there any better earphones that can be paired with this mobile to get the best out of it? around 100$ range or little higher. Ordered Massdrop Sennheiser HD6xx but for portability, love to listen to in-ear earphones.
Please suggest. Also love to see audiophile review of these stock earbuds.
Charan
The stock in ears are small, comfortable and are great quality, for something bundled. But it's only meant as a backup hands-free pair, really.
They served well while I waited two weeks to get the TRN V80 from china. I don't care for a neutral monitor style character and these IEMs tick all the boxes for me, clear treble, defined bass, textured mids. At 30$ these chinese IEMs make everything else look overpriced. There are neutral chi-fi IEMs for the audiophile and musician crowd as well.
And the G7 drives them as well as anything short of a tube amp. Very happy with the combo.

You can go for soundmagic e80c if you want to feel the DAC inbuilt... It is great combination. However, no bass like sony
Stocks are about the same quality as those from the G4 or even a bit lower. Decent and since I rarely used earphones on the G4 I was OK with them.
However, because of the DAC in the G7 I decided to buy a pair of better ones. For now, on my shortlist I have Fiio FH01, F9 and F9Pro. Mostly because of accessibility in Romania, don't feel like ordering from Amazon because of potential warranty issue so I'd buy from a good local store. I briefly considered Sennheiser Momentum but I think I'll get one of those Fiio, probably FH01.
I have KZ ZS5 and TinAudio T2. Both are very good earphones for the price. T2 are neutral, ZS5 are little V signature. But not much.

Buy Superlux HD681/668B if you want big ones (not neutral, highs are somewhat detailed, but the whole treble is somewhat overboosted, mids are V-shaped but very detailed and the bass is detailed depending on what song you listen to), if you want earbuds buy Tin Audio T2 or KZ AS10 or ZS10 (ZS10 contacts died in a week, idk what happened)... Biggest impedance headphone here is 668B, 56Ω, and they will use high-impedance mode...

I think it is more like 668B... But I am not sure... 668B has less bass, but cleaner highs, 681 has more extended bass, but unclear (not sibilant highs) and more detailed, 681 Evo has more bass and has typical Superlux 681 signature other than that... And it is closed, so it may give you better isolation...

Great choice...
You could also check out Tin Audio T2, RevoNext QT2, KZ ZS10, AS10 and SoundMagic E10... Most neutral are T2's, but they lack subbass and have extremely neutral sound, which is a bit boring... KZ are extremely fun, but a bit bright pair of earbuds... QT2 are Harman-based earbuds with a bit of a bass boost and highs boost...

Lol... You should buy AKG K702 if you're in EU, it is like 110€ on German Amazon... You'll get almost flat sound, if not a bit bright, with great sense of realism and huge soundstage... Almost natural in every sense... Not as natural as Senn HD800, Audeze LCD2, or Stax SR009, but no headphones sound like those headphones... And they are over 1000$, which is an overkill... K702 are great midrange audiophile headphones...

Great recommendations. As I am new in this world of budget audiophiles I was wondering if all earphones have to be in-ear to be good. Because some earphones are not comfortable for me if they enter too much inside my ear. Instead shape like AirPods are less intrusive.
Are there good budget earphones which are not in-ear or it is a mandatory characteristic to make good sound?

If you don't like In-Ears earphones, you just have to look for Earbuds & Semi-In-Ears like QianYun Qian69, VE Monk, MEMT T5, MoonDrop Nameless. Best sound quality is first two. Look for review for models and choose, but maybe Qian69 is best choise from theese.
