Just wondering if anyone else has run into this with the "Warm" flavored mods. When I go to check my voice mail, I will input my password, and the phone simply asks me to input my password again. It just repeats this after every time I input it. It hasn't changed at all, it's the same password as it always had been.
I went from Warm 2.2 which had the problem, to MIUI which was fine, and now I'm using Warm Z and the same problem exists.

Yes, and it is answered in each of the Z ROM threads. It is a known problem
Go into Settings > Sound > Audible Touch tones and set it to long
Thanks man, 150 pages is a lot to go through when someone here can tell you from experience
Thanks again!

Not a problem. So you know for the future, known problems are usually in the first 2 posts of the ROM thread.
Ahh, duly noted. Thanks again!
OK guys, before I rant at Google, does anyone else's phone do this?
I tap the little mic icon on the keyboard and speak. It gets the first three or four words, but every word after that is just a name from my contacts.
If I switch it to US English it works fine but I have to talk with an American accent to get it to recognise my speech.
I've reported it Here. Please star it if you want Google to resolve the issue.

Second attempt with tv on mute and it worked perfectly.

Mine is set to English UK and I don't even know some of the words it thinks I am saying.
Don't even think it is english
you guys just have to learn the correct way to speak English

Try more than a few words as it only seems to glitch badly after the first sentence. Try talking to it like Duarte does and mine just chucks out a list of assorted forenames and surnames.
Annoying as I could talk to the old version like I was having a conversation.
I've reported it Here. Please start it if you want Google to resolve the issue.
Yeah absolutely, after more than a few words it seems to massively prioritise contact entries.
For example, "It's so cool" became "Richard Poole", which although a similar sound at the end (and a compliment for Mr. Poole) didn't seme remotely connected. And every word after were combinations of contact names. I find I have to keep doing short sentences/sentence fragments at a time, which appears to ruin the point of speech-to-text.
Luckily I'm not a big fan of talking at my phone. Hence Siri not being a selling point on the 4S for me.
It's a bit hit or miss but I'm not getting any contact names appearing.

I'm finding my galaxy nexus much worse at recognising my voice than my HD2 running gingerbread was. I'd say with that I got about a 95% accuracy rate vs the Galaxy Nexus getting maybe 50% if that.

I'm having no issues with the voice recognition at all. No contact names coming up, even after several sentences. I think it's more accurate too (for my voice, anyway), though it still gets it wrong sometimes!
Being able to dictate punctuation is very cool.
I had a little try with the speech to text and it was pretty poor. I hadn't put my contacts in yet but I was on wifi. It got most of the words wrong and lagged quite a lot. I'll test it a bit more extensively once I get my replacement phone
My Galaxy S was far better at recognising my accent.
Can someone else test this, I think it is a bug..
click voice button and say 'text [someones name on your contact list]'
When the screen pops up to enter a text message there is no way of inputting any text.
Ive had no problems with lagging it works ok for me when using for google search for the odd couple of words, but trying to dictate a sentence i've never got 100% accuracy.
I'm from saaarf laaandun no one has a clue what I say most of the time
So talk to text has no chance

for me some times its excellent and sometimes its useless and i get loads of contacts names that sound nothing like what i have said like some of you.
If there is any background noise at all i usually find it doesnt know what im saying. Some words for me it just wont pick up no matter how many times i try... the one that comes to mind is 'sure' it always comes up with 'so' lol.
Does the speech to text feature require WiFi or a data conection to work? I don't have the Nexus yet.
Didn't want to open a new thread so I asked here.

It does on mine?
I'm also finding it works perfectly so far, even a long text message came out without any issues
i just tested this with 3 or 4 rather long sentences. I have a pretty weird accent (mix of Southern, central and northern regional English) and it never once matched anything i said to a contact.
it messed a few words up (understandably), but i'm not experiencing this particular bug.
Hello all,
I have an issue that I could really use some input on.
I am currently unable to send a txt message and can't figure out why, but this is what I did.
I went into Phone Testing settings (the #*#* command) and only really looked around. I checked the other band options but put it back to GSM/CDMA auto. I also looked at the Select Bands option and am not sure what it was set to before, but I just chose Auto.
After I did that I am now unable to send txt messages and can't think of anything else I may have done to mess it up. Handscent nor the stock txt app will send, it just fails immediately.
I otherwise have a strong signal and full data connectivity. I tried a baseband restore as well as reinstalling the kernel and that has not restored my sms.
I didn't change any settings in APN and even restored it to default.
I'm using Team KANG milestone 2 and Franco Kernel 14 on WIND in Canada. Everything was working just fine before all of this.
Thanks for the help!
rAy
UPDATE: I also did a CWM restore of a backup I did only an hour or so before this happened and when things were working fine and now I'm getting panic prompts for 'google.process.gapps'. Ideas??
UPDATE 2: Judging from other posts in his thread it COULD be related to the Franco Kernel, he just upped a fix for something. Going to try flashing the old one and then to the newest to see if that helps.
UPDATE 3: It did not, still can't send txt.
I remember reading a post like this before, don't remember if it was fixed or not
Type *#*#4636#*#* in your dialer. Press phone info. Scroll down to smsc and then press refresh then update. See if that works. Otherwise you can manually enter that number. Search for the smsc # for your carrier.

Actually I have solved the mystery!
What I apparently did was delete my SMSC number in the Phone Testing menu by hitting 'Update' next to the box... so I'd advise anyone else not to do it either lol.
I found the code needed for WIND in Canada too in case anyone finds themselves in this situation.
You need to re-enter the SMSC Carrier number. For WIND Mobile Canada, SMSC is 16135009000
Android requires you to enter this info in Hex.
Hex = 07916131059000F0
In the dialpad enter *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone information
Scroll down to SMSC field, enter 07916131059000F0 and done. Then reboot

You can find the code to other networks with a search here at XDA, just remember that you apparently need to convert to HEX first.

PS: I think I was writing mine as you wrote yours, but thanks for the reply El Daddy! That would have saved me if I wasn't so impatient lol

Not really a bug. The carrier doesn't expect people to know how to go into the service menu and change it themselves. People really shouldn't be randomly hitting buttons that they don't understand what it will do.. Google could have designed the UI better also. It's kind of a huge mess of a design.

Did you even read what I posted? I'll quote: "It apparently wipes the SMSC number as soon as you enter the hidden phone settings...". Now, that's not randomly hitting buttons is it? Just viewing a settings menu shouldn't wipe a setting (and, it hasn't before for me on gingerbread, froyo or eclair) so I'd call that a bug.

That is not true. It only removes the SMSC if you touch the update button. I have been in that menu a lot and have never had it randomly delete my SMSC settings.

But, I could say that is not true. I didn't touch anything other than the network mode (changing from WCDMA Preferred or GSM auto (PRL)) yet mine got wiped. Just 'cause it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it isn't a bug!
How sure are you that you didn't hit update? It's not intuitive that you are not supposed to do it so you might have done it without thinking. Also, I noticed a lot of tutorials online that tell people to hit update when they shouldn't be doing that.
This is the first I've ever read of this as the most likely cause was that button. Just re-read the first post and there might be a bug in the kernel? Or maybe it's just an Orange thing, but didn't think there was much difference between the different versions of yakju**.

I'm pretty damn sure I didn't touch that button. I wasn't going anywhere near that setting until I went in the second time after noting I couldn't send texts. I think one thing that should be sorted is the requirement to enter the SMSC in HEX format, that wasn't required on my desire.
SMSC code for AT&T US
The SMSC code for carrier AT&T US is: 07913121139418F0
Once you put the SMSC code in, click update, then refresh and your all set. NO REBOOT / RESTART needed.

The "Find my device" voice, "I´m Here" spontaniously activates on my Moto G 5G Plus from time to time. I have deactivated "Find my device" in settings, but it stil comes on, quite loudly, even though the phone is set on silent. It can be quite annoying, especially if it does it in the middle of a meeting. Does enyone have an explanation and a solution?

I don't think so, but I can't rule it out. But the strange thing is, “Find my device" is deactivated. But a change of login is probably a good idea. I presume it is my Google account you are refering to.

Yep.
Go to myaccount.google.com/security
Change your password and use a minimum of 8 characters with at least 1 of each: upper case, lower case, number, special character. You can make it easy by substituting characters or numbers for letters in a word: automobile becomes @Ut0mOb!l3
Turn on 2 step verification. Recommend you use your phone number as it's less likely that someone can intercept your texts, vs have access to your email if they already have your password
Next go to myaccount.google.com/device-activity and sign out any devices you don't recognize
Thanks for your detailed reply. By the time I read it, I had been through all the steps. Change of password, signouts and check for unauthorized activity. I couldn't find any, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see - unless others have better ideas.
