Help restoring EFS from Partitions Backup & Restore - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I backed up all my partitions including EFS using Partitions Backup & Restore but I can't seem to restore them in TWRP or ODIN. The backups are in tar.gz format and I tried using the tar.gz as well as the .tar inside it.
Is there any way to make a TWRP or preferably ODIN flashable backup from the backup files?

How to extract app data with Titanium backup and TWRP backups

Apparently TWRP saves its backups in a different format. it's a collection of files instead of one. I don't know how to extract data from these backups using TBP. Can someone link me to a guide or give advice? Thanks friends.
Go into the menu with titanium backup and will be able to extract app data (special backup / restore). Don't think you have an option for any files but it's easier then restoring a nandroid.

[Q] CWM/TWRP Backup

Hey, what does those recoveries backup?
I mean - System data/User data..
I just made a ZIP backup with CWM (6.0.2.3) and it's only 312MB (~430MB Unzipped),
and when I used TWRP I remember it was ~920MB (.win files).
In the TWRP backup there are cache, data, recovery, efs, system and boot files,
and in the CWM there are only system and boot.
I only need system backup because I backup the apps I need with TiBa.
(Is there anything else that I should backup?)

the Clockwork backup is a complete image of the phone. the recovery partition, boot partition, apps, and data. you could load a ROM onto your phone and have it not work to your liking and turn around and use the Clockwork recovery to reload the saved image and be exactly back where you were before the ROM got loaded.
on the other hand, about the best app to backup other apps and data is Titanium Backup. they don't get much better than that app for backing up your phone and having as many ways to accomplish that task as you could ask for.
Weird..
TWRP made a complete backup and it's 900MB,
and in the CWM backup ZIP there is only system.tar and boot.img.
TiBa backups only apps (and their data), doesn't it?
I need a backup of my ROM..
TWRP's backup is the ROM and the apps, and CWM's backup is the ROM only?

No CWM backs up everything it always has done.

Use this version of EFS pro, newer versions don't play nicely with our phones
If you make a standard nandroid backup, but skip the data backup, you can restore your EFS anytime.

Hi,
Of course you can use GalaxSim Unlock to restore your EFS backup. The backups made by other tools for this device will contaion the same data. By default, it will restore the EFS folder. If you check "advanced mode" in settings, you can chose to restore the whole partition.
Unfortunately, I've had a look at your data : you seem to have lost your stock EFS data (I suppose you IMEI might be wrong). Unfortunately if you don't have a backup made before you lost it, you can't do much to restore your imei.

How to restore EFS backup in IMG file format?

Hi, I just flashed AICP and found that the VoLTE is missing. I've an EFS partition backup taken with TWRP earlier. But that file is an IMG file. When I try to restore that IMG file using TWRP it asks for the correct partition to restore. All I can see are:
Boot
Recovery
System image
Vendor image
Firmware (image)
Splash
Could someone please say to which partition should I restore it?

Your efs backup should be named something like efs.emmc.win

Nope, the file name is efs_backup.img . How to restore it?
Could someone please help? I found tutorials only to backup EFS partition using TWRP. Didn't find any for restoration. At least someone please post the link to it? Googling didn't give any results.
I've already asked this on XDA before, but no one replied me. Here's the link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...te-problems-custom-roms-t3744291/post77703907
If the EFS in IMG file format can't be restored then what's the point of backing up the EFS using TWRP? I always QPST the ZUI ROM whenever I switch to a different ROM. This time I don't have my PC with me, that's why I'm asking this. If we can't restore this using TWRP then at least please confirm it. Then I will wait until I get my PC.

Efs Backup created through twrp contains .win format and you can recover only if it's in that format. Or if you are damn sure that you have created backup through twrp then find that version of twrp and then try to restore.
You dont have to flash the file, you have to restore it using twrp
Make a backup of your current efs through twrp
You will find it in the internal memory in twrp folder
Go into the folder, keep going in till you find the img file of your current backup, replace it with the previous backup.
Then boot into twrp md go into restore, you will find the option to restore the efs partition
