Flashing a new ROM has no bearing on 4G working.
If the phone isn't intended for your specific region and carrier, it may be impossible to get 4G working.
Battery life will vary drastically from one user to another based on usage patterns, apps, and carrier reception. So nobody can tell what ROM will give the best battery life for you/your friend.

My question is can i flash a modem or something for m8?

Only if the device is s-off

[Q] Which is the best thread and kernal for tmobile g2?

my current radio is 26.06.02.27_m
my current kernel is 2.6.32.21-cyanogenmod-evil
I'm not really having any problem with the kernel just curious if there is something better out there.
My main concern is the radio. I flashed the radio cause I had problems with losing signal at random times in places I usually had perfect coverage. So if there is a radio out now that is working best for t-mobile usa then I would really appreciate anyone helping me out.
*I meant to put radio in the threat title and not thread. Sorry for the mix up.
Well, what kernel you choose depends on what ROM you're currently using, while the radio is independent. So, which ROM are you using?
I'm using a stock rom right now, but have been kind of wanting to flash a gingerbread rom on the phone lately.
The best functionality vs battery life I have seen was using CM7 with perhoots gingerbread kernel. Of course, you're going to have to use profiles on SetCPU, but you can find several posts with good profiles.

Glad to hear it!
Ive been trying to find posts with people advising against radio, or recommending the best fit (or general) radio compatibility with the Canadian Version of the Phone but i'm having no luck,,,
So far are the DHD radio's have the ability to be rolled back without issue?
Are there any specific radios that seem to brick the canadian version of the DHD?
does anyone have a definate answer?!
I think it depends on which rom you are using

Hi,
My radio is 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M and I installed a Stock-rooted Gingerbread ROM.
It came with a radio but I didn't flash it (Mabe I was scared or just wanted to test the ROM first who know...) the fact is since then, my battery life as improved and the radio signal is good enough that I didn't flash it.
(24-32 hours of autonomy with a good use of my device)
Should I think again and flash the new radio anyway ?

Radio (12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M)
I live near Ottawa, but in a lower reception area, and I have been trying radios trying to get a good mix of reception and battery life.
Currently I'm using "Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 - TELUS WWE 1.84.661.1" and the corresponding RIL on Leedroid GB rom. It seems ok for now, but if anyone has tried a bunch of radios and can suggest their own best results for us Canadian desire owners, I would be much appreciated!
a fellow telus dhd owner here in edmonton. i'm using the latest radio (check sig) with g ril on cm7 with great results. i was using hm ril's for a bit and the device had very poor performance (calls cutting in and out, slow gps sat lock, wifi/3g sporadic disconnect/reconnect, etc). all that has been remedied by just flashing a g ril instead of a hm ril.
i think it'd be good to remind everyone that matching your radio and ril to your rom type (i.e. sense vs asop) is also important. from what i've read, use g for asop and hm for sense roms. it sure made a difference for me.
Thank you for the good advice. I switched up to the newest radio and ril and they seem the best for me I am still interested to know what others agree having success with here in Canada

I'm a fairly new user, got my Telus DHD (first Android) in the beginning of april, I live in Montreal, and took the entire phone apart within the first week. Tried a whole bunch of roms, then learned the hard way that Sense roms are like beautiful girls in bars at 2 am, they get you excited at first but then it's all disappointment... Lately I've been playing a lot with cyanogen nightlies, and I've been trying to find the best battery life possible.
So far the best I got was CM7.1 RC1 with Radio_12.35d.60.140f_26.06.03.24_M2 - TELUS WWE 1.84.661.1
That would last me over 35 hours very consistently with heavy use, screen on and lots of data (3G)
I tried pretty much all other radios on the latest nightlies (right now #170) and haven't found anything as good as 26.06.03.24_M2. I am in the process of reflashing that one while on this nightly to see if things will go back to what I had.
When you know your rom (and apps running) are not draining the battery, is the radio/ril the only other variables that affect battery life ? In other words, would the same radio/RIl drain the same regardless of the rom you're using ?
(forgot to mention I flash Alienmind's stuff over that, so I also use LordModUE v6.9.2 kernel and I change the OC to 122min/1.3max and use Brazilianwax (that governor seems so far seems to be the best)

Best Kernel/Radio for Rogers Users!?!?

Currently running kyanROM on my S3 and using the stock AT&T kernel. Battery life is ok, but my wifi and data signals sometime intermittently crap out. Don't want to overclock anything, just looking for great performance and batter life......anyone have any positive experiences with different kernels or radios?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

This is being locked. There is no best kernel or rom combination, it's all personal choice.

Alright. There are sooo many ways you can extend your battery life. But really if your looking for the best rom/kernel, you would really have to read the threads of the specific rom. Really, the only way to find this out if to try new roms or find another person that has tested every single rom (highly unlikely as you might know) and go forth from there. There is always adjusting your voltage if your extreme.

That seems interesting
But which ROM have you used? THIS one?
And how this works? You use mobile internet connection or you somehow managed to boost existing WiFi signal?
