Alright. There are sooo many ways you can extend your battery life. But really if your looking for the best rom/kernel, you would really have to read the threads of the specific rom. Really, the only way to find this out if to try new roms or find another person that has tested every single rom (highly unlikely as you might know) and go forth from there. There is always adjusting your voltage if your extreme.

I would like to have a kernel that will give me good performance but great battery life! What do you guys suggest and post some screenshots of your battery life with the kernel please!
theres no point in these kind of threads. read the kernel threads and general/q&a, you'll find out why.

Stock. More performance means less battery and/or stability and vice versa. Stock was already built to be the median between the three.

That's kind of the same as asking for a 400HP engine that has the fuel efficiency of 5 liter per 100 km.
Hello xda-developers.
My name's Mirko and I from Italy. It's my first time that I post in this beautiful forum of all kind of developers
I have Galaxy Nexus (GSM. Italian version) with Android 4.1.1 stock. My small questions are:
- I suffer from short battery life, it's better change kernel or ROM?
- If it's better change kernel, what you can recommend to me and why?
- If it's better change ROM, what you can recommend to me and why?
At the moment only these are my questions.
Thanks for all answer.. It's my first time that I unlock bootloader and root my device (I have to do it), and I'm a full newbie of modding
Thanks thanks and thanks, this forum is the best.. Keep on the fantastic work and congratulation to all modder, staff and all!
P.s. sorry for my bad english
Best Regards.

Before you do any of the stated you need to find out weather your phone is gsm or cdma because you CANNOT put a CDMA on a GSM phone or the other way around.
Kernels affect battery life. I recommend Franco kernel or Lean kernel
Roms affect user interface (the OS operating System on the phone) - I recommend for a starting stable rom Cyanogen (its what MOST roms are based off of) then if you want to tweak your phone more I recommend CodeNamedDroid or ParanoidAndroid. (these are the three that I use the most)
also i would recommend this thread about battery life http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1599025
i hope my english has not confused you. Dont be surprised if noone else responds to you in this page, they have a bad habit of doing this.

Thanks for you answer, friend

Franco's has horrible battery life...
paranoidandroid with trinity is the best imo
Yes, custom kernels can improve battery life if you're willing to trade in a little performance. Can't have both at the same time.

What would you guys consider the best rom is, in terms performance and battery life?
I've tried most of the ROMs and to be honest with you, I've noticed a minimal difference in battery life between them, if any. Just use ktoonsez's kernel and you'll have good battery life.
All of them.
Since no one uses the phone exactly as you do, nor has the same signal strength as you, only you can be the judge.
We don't do "Best ROM/kernel" threads because of that. Everyone will say the one they are using is the best.
Hello,
I'm looking for the most stable ROM with the Best Battery Life.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. Tell me what you use that gives you the best battery life!
.
Thanks
try them all out, find which one your device likes best. every device is diffetent and reacts differently with different roms. there is no "best". i have a feeling that you will want to try different kernels too, since thats whatll play a role in battery life. start experimenting. for my device, its rasbean jelly rom with the trinity kernel.
its the kernel that has a more significancy when it comes to battery life.

Okay, then what is the best Rom/Kernel Combo that you guys have been using? I just want to know a few examples so I can try them, because there are wayyyyyy tooo many ROMS to try out, haha
I have flashed multiple ROMs but can't find one to suit my usage. I know about the extended battery , have had them on other phones in the past. But I'm just looking the software aspect. What roms due fellow flashers recommend for a heavy user that has the best battery consumption? Thanks for your time.

I find LiquidSmooth with BMS kernel provides a pretty good battery life. I'm not sure how you use your phone throughout the day, so i'm not sure if it's what you are looking for
