I bought a used HTC One M9, and everything seems to work fine until I try to update it (Its on Android 5.0.2) it looks normal but then goes to this screen (See attached photo). I guess the phone has S-off? I'm not really very good with any of this stuff, if anyone can help me get back to stock so I can get OTA's that'd be great. I tried doing all the research I could but have gotten nowhere. The phone is an unlocked model, I was told it's a developers edition but IDK how to tell the difference. There is no carrier branding so I'm assuming he didn't lie, and that the phone actually is unlocked. If anyone can help it'd be very greatly appreciated, I planned to use this phone as my main phone but I cant use it on almost 3 year old software.

Not to be polemic but, writing: "its still screwed up" don't help at all. Too much links and redirects? Well, write it about. Suggest some own ideas, if you have one.
Maybe you lost THIS.

Recently I dropped my 8525 and now the phone does not work. Everything else seems to work fine though, just can't make/receive calls, texts.
I have tried flashing several ROMs to try and fix the problem. Any ROm without a radio will flash fine. It will freeze if there is a radio in the ROM or I try flashing a radio. I believe there is a hardware break in the radio soldering.
I have bought a new phone and am willing to donate the broken one to anyone who would like to try ROMS on it without worrying about bricking their phone or for any other development use. Not for someone who wants to try to fix it and get a free phone. All I request is you pay for shipping. I am in the US.
I'll take it PM Sent. I got my 8525 jacked at school and i regret it each time i remember it. I just started cooking ROMs for the 8925 and i have a some friends who would like me to cook for 8525 so i can try it out with this device. Btw, i am also in the US in souther California.

I know that there is a chance that I can fix it, but I already bought a new phone. Also I have been flashing ROMs for a while now and don't contribute anything really. I have been trying for a while to make a ROM but to no success. So this can be my way to contribute. But thank you for for your offer.

in my oppinion best contribution is to help others so try it that way...giving up a phone isn't contributing to the comunity...so don't rush
and if you really don't want the phone give it to your cousin, brother, kid, friend, and not to someone somewhere
personally i'm getting into cooking not only because of contributing, but because i need new roms for my artemis and rw6828.and i hopefully will help the guys around...so try doing your best and not tossing around phones
regards

That is a nice thought, but I do not have any hardware circuitry knowledge. So keeping a phone that is broke and breaking it more and then finally throwing it away does not seem like it would be helpful at all. Giving it to someone who does have the knowledge to possibly fix it so they can share the information on how seems a lot more productive.
Hey thanks for the negativity though.
as for giving it to someone I know, no one I know wants a phone that cannot make phone calls.
if possible, u can give it to me...
but oh, us - indo is too long long a way

has anybody asked the dev of safestrap, or even tried it out yet? the locked bootloader is the next big problem, i assume. and as far as i get it the "fire os" is the same on "fire"-devices.

JCASE demonstrated booting unsigned code from USB... so we dont NEED to unlock the bootloader although it would be nice.
What we really need is a custom recovery and a way to boot it.. perhaps JCASE will chime in now that the root is out..
last i saw his signature says he is away for an undetermined amount of time :crying:

lol his sig has said that for an undetermined amount of time
May be we can write custom recovery using dd an then boot it?
I would think anyone that is willing to test unknown methods either has money to burn or a hardware flasher.
Just checked safestrap, no luck.
May be we can port loki. Platform looks similar for me, but offsets is different.

Looks like a few people have been looking into this, but haven't seen much activity recently. Just chiming in to see if there have been any advances on this front? Either progress, or a determination that it's too difficult at this point?

Thanks for answering Happy to hear that people are still trying this. I'm wondering, once Android TV is released, the hardware on this device seems to be pretty powerful and it might be a great experience, if we can figure out how to get it on there.
Good luck, rbox! And thx for the xposed mods
Just be aware that the first thing that will stop working with an unlocked bootloader will be Netflix HD. I don't have Prime so can't comment on that.
You will be limited to 720x480 resolution - 1750kbps.

I was able to find the best spot to do the 2nd init, and it seemed to be working, but unfortunately I'm having some problems getting TWRP to actually display even though I'm doing exactly the same thing I did with clockwork. Luckily it's a long weekend, so I should have some time to debug it.

Summer only has a couple of weeks left... I also hope we can crack the bootloafer or at least get boot strap or something similar working, but I am not going to hold my breath. I AM very happy with how well it is working though, especially as an xbmc/kodi box! Hope we can get the mic button working in kodi.
I just got my Verizon (910v) note 4, and I want to unlock the bootloader, but it is running CQE1 as well as the may 2017 security patch, and I want to make sure it is safe to follow the downgrade and unlock.
***UPDATE***
According to @DesertRatBiggs it is possible to downgrade and unlock your bootloader on CQE1. here is a link to the thread.

Me, too. I'm very curious to know if this stock baseband has been unlocked ... or if we (and the countless others in our specific situation) will simply never be able to fully unleash these powerful Note 4 Beasts like we'd like. (I'd sure pay some cash for the privilege...)

If I had any money I could pay I would be more than willing to do so, unfortunately I could not afford it right now.
In my current situation my screen gets very hot(not sure if it is supposed to) and so I would really like to flash a Note 7 port so I could scale down my resolution to 1080p to see if that helps with the heat. I know no one asked I just figured that if I made my situation known maybe someone could/would help me/us out.
BTW I got mine second hand, but it is in fantastic shape. Also the indicator under the battery show no signs of water damage. I say this because I know water damage can definitely cause heat problems
Is there anyone that knows anything that could help us?
In the general section it looks as though it has already been confirmed as doable... check this link and if it helps give me a thanks.

Thank you very much I will check it out!
But I didn't see anything about cqe1
Does anyone know?
I just realized I misspoke in my last comment. I want to know if unlocking your bootloader is safe on cqe1. please guys are really need to know.
As it turns out...YES! can downgrade and unlock you bootloader safely. At least as far as I understand, i have not yet tried it BUT in the thread which i have linked in the OP @DesertRatBiggs was kind enough to confirm that it can indeed be done. I will try it tonight and give you my results. I encourage anyone who benefits from @DesertRatBiggs information to give him thanks.

No but you can downgrade to bpa1 and run the gauntlet
Look, I know I tried and failed miserably to get something going for the previous first generation Revvl, and I probably let a whole lot of people down... but after my recent successes with the Orbic Wonder and Vortex Synq, I couldn't help but try and take this on because it's too tempting
Like before, I don't have this phone myself (I'm on Verizon now), but if anyone has one and wants to see if we can get something going let me know and we can work together. Even if we can only get root access and maybe a custom recovery, that would still be better than nothing. Since my last attempt at the Revvl line I've learned a few new things and have a couple more tricks up my sleeve. I can't guarantee anything obviously, but if anyone wants to give it a shot we can certainly do so. I'm personally down for Round 2 at this point if any of you out there are
I found a couple at a local pawn shop for cheap. If you think you can get Majisk on them, I'll pick one up!

Depends how cheap, because there's no guarantee I'll be able to get Magisk on them. Not sure how the odds will be. If you're talking like $20 cheap then yeah go for it, even if it fails you can have a backup device to screw around with. Any significant amount of money, don't risk it.
Help
Anyone knows how to solve this
Is this dead?
I realize it's been a hot minute since this thread was active, but I have this device and if there was a way I could get it rooted it would be greatly appreciated

Oh it's actually never been there and here's a picture right here actually when I actually try to run it in bootloader mode and I've tried to unlock the device with that company and they said it was but it's still locked
Oh yeah, I know how to resolve that. Connect the device using a USB cable to your PC. Make sure the phone is off. Then hold all buttons on your phone until you get a blue warning screen. From here, follow the on-screen instructions to unlock the bootloader. From THEN, the lock is fully disabled.
