So I found out real quick last night while playing with my 6 month old baby that this watch needs some sort of lock. When she was squirming around in my arms the Google Voice commands opened a dozen times and she tried to share some of my notifications and reply with Voice for a couple of text messages. And this was all within the first 15 minutes.
I was wondering if there was anyone else experiencing this and their thoughts. I saw a couple of lock screen apps out there but I was thinking with the Moto 360 it would be really nice if that side button was a lock / unlock button for when you want the watch to remain in the ambient mode and not wake up from screen taps. I know that the button switches the watch to ambient mode but it does not seem to lock the screen from touches. Might be a nice idea for future implementation as I have not used the side button for anything yet as the screen wakes when I lift the watch to my face.
What are your thoughts?
this exact thing happened to me yesterday! I have an 8 month old and the watch just attracted him lol
I don't have a creature, but I too would like for the watch to only activate when I want it to. I want to have to press the button to turn the screen on.
Have you guys tried Showear or Lockable? Both are free but Lockable charges for the pin unlock feature.
I don't want just a screen lock, but a lock that completely keeps the screen turned off until I press the hard button on the side. (To not waste battery when I definitely don't want the screen to turn on by touch and/or accelerometer). Does an app exist for this?

Have you tried to shower with it on?
It thinks the water is you touching it, and it goes crazy!

That is exactly what I am looking for. Something that keeps it in the Ambient mode until I press the side button and locking the touch screen. It seems like an easy enough option because the button really has no other use as you can turn the screen on and off by tilting your hand. So it would probably serve better as a locking button.

I do not shower with a watch on so I have not tried it. I am sure it would go crazy. Another reason for a lock button.
Yea a lock app or something would be nice mine is so sensitive I could sneeze and it turns it on..hope something comes about soon

I have come across an app called Baby Time which locks the watch and only allows a specific swipe gesture of up twice and then down twice. Kinda gets the task done but it would be a lot simpler if it was activated by the button on the Moto 360. Another comment is that it replaces the watch face you have with one created in the app which for some reason does not seem to have an option out of the 24 hour clock. I will use for now but I am hopeful that something better will come along. Also have to start the app by saying "Start Baby TIme"
Lol!

Hello,
is there a way i can disable the screen to turn on with the wrist move ?
This auto screen power on , on wrist move is killing my battery, especially when i'm driving.
I want to switch on the screen only on tapping the screen.
Thanks a lot
I'm pretty sure there's not... yet. The O/S is pretty immature though. I'll bet that before long there will be apps or mods that will allow such basic O/S customization.

I suppose there is not a way to disable the heart meter , pedometer or see what app run on the background and disable it ?
I found the way to disable these. Look in the 360 development forum.
If you find the package that listens for wrist motion, I can take a look at disabling the component that turns it on.
I got a little more info about this last night when I did a logcat on the watch. I'm going to speak with someone more knowledgeable to see what we can do with that info.
You should watch the mods post in the 360 development forum for more info.
A easy solution is the Theater mode.
You can access this setting by swiping down, and once to the left. Now you have to press the button to wake your smartwatch.
The only disadvantage is that your watch is not vibrating anymore when getting new messages.
I hope this will help you.
Isn't this controlled by "Tilt to wake screen". You have to access through the phone.

I'm not 100% sure, since I've had my 360 for less than a week... But seeing the date of this question about tilt to wake was from the end of last year.. It could ha e been implemented since then. You can disable it in the settings from the Android Wear app on you're Android phone.
Go to settings there is an option to turn it off......
Hey guys.
I just contacted Motorola to request some new features be added to the stock ROM (which in my opinion) would be crucial to increasing the functionality and battery levels of the watch.
Don't know if any Motorola Dev's/Engineers are following this site but just in case, I'd love to have these features asap.
Please add more if there is anything I have missed.
1. Have the ability to turn Vibrate OFF while still receiving notifications on the watch
Why ? Because I have my phone in my pocket constantly, and my phone vibrates when a new notification comes up. I dont need my pocket and my wrist vibrating together.
Also, Increase battery life.
2. Need to have the ability to turn off notifications for certain apps. For Example, I want the watch to vibrate when an SMS or Email comes through, but turned off for Messenger, kik, and everything else.
Also, by having this feature, Im sure a developer could write up a small app to install onto the phone which would tell the watch which notifications to vibrate for, and which to just display on the screen.
And again, this will save battery life by turning the vibrate motor off for (in my case) 90% of the notifications coming through.
3. Have a slider to control the level of vibration or the burst of vibration.
Why ? This adds a level of customization to the watch.
Also, I see people complaining that the watch doesn't vibrate enough while in my case, its vibration time is too long. By having the ability to shortening the vibrate time, you also save battery life (if not by much).
By having all 3 features embedded into the ROM, On the average user, it should increase battery life by almost double (if not more).

Pretty neat ideas. I have one id like to add lol. I want to be able to turn off motion detection for the screen. I had this feature on my galaxy gear and it gave me an day and half EXTRA battery with it turned off. We could get similar battery life (3-4 days with average use, custom rom too) if this was disabled. I had to always press the button to turn the screen on to check the time, but notifications still lit the screen up when they came in. Totally worth an extra 24-36 hours of battery . However i like the idea of being able to tap the screen to wake the moto360.
So basically I want motion detection disabled but leave tap to wake on.
Can't you turn off notifications for certain apps in the Android Wear app (mute apps)?

Im not talking about turning off notifications all together.
I was talking about turning off the vibration for certain apps, but still having the notifications pushed to the Moto360 display.
Number 2 can already be done you can go to the Android Wear App in Setting Click Block App Notification then Pick Whatever App u want to mute
Oops didn't see the last comment

I like this idea because sometimes it's hard getting the watch to light up with motion, so turning off that feature for when it does work would be fine.
In my case, I have the phone vibration turned off and rely on the watch to deliver notifications.
My one and only important feature request is the ability to create my own canned response list.
Of course, official support for 3rd party keyboards would be nice as well.
Bluetooth LE Peripheral Mode
I'm not sure if they intend to include Bluetooth LE Peripheral Mode in their Lollipop release. Google chose not to include peripheral mode for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, although it is included with the newer Nexus 6 and 9. But for Android Wear, Peripheral Mode would enable a huge number of new and useful apps, that would significantly improve the usefulness of the watch. The simplest one would be a beacon to help you find your watch when you forgot where you left it, but enabling service solicitation would open a whole new world of applications for the watch.
#1 has worked since day one.
I get a notification, my phone remains silent, the watch vibrates. It's in the AW app settings.
according to me, since the watch has a inbuilt mic, a feature can be added that when someone calls, answer from the watch, just speak that you'll call back later & disconnect. this will be helpful if you are driving... no need to pick the phone ...

Instead of swiping to answer the call, You can just swipe upwards to reject call with similar messages sent automatically

Good list, I have one more. Allow the setting of alarms for only certain days. For example, I would like to be able to set an alarm at 7 PM that goes off only on weekdays and not weekends, as I use this to let me know when I can get into the car pool lane when I am driving back home from work. That alarm is useless on the weekend, so no need for it to be turned on every day.

I am still wondering which watch support Bluetooth peripheral?
As I know LG G watch 5.0.1 do not support it.
if (mBluetoothAdapter.isMultipleAdvertisementSupported()) {
will return false.
on mine the whole notification thing is messed up..
sometimes it will vibrate and pop up when i get a text or email.. but then sometimes it doesnt do anything at all.
hardly ever, does it vibrate when i get a fb IM.. but it pops up and the screen lights up.
maybe they should fix it first before adding anything.

Pretty sure vibration is app dependent. Example, 8sms. You can change the vibration length in the settings. If you set your phone to 1000ms vibration when you get a text your phone AND watch will vibrate for 1000ms(or whatever vibration pattern you set) To further my point I would NEVER feel the vibration of Snapchat updates because it was so short. I'm using xposed(gravity box) to change snapchats vibration length and I feel the notification on my watch and phone every time.
I agree 100% google should have a universal setting to be able to change vibration, notification, and screen light up settings.

I have.
Hi,
I've had my M9 for a couple of weeks now, and slowly getting it to work how I want it to. One thing nagging me is this weird issue I have with waking the device from sleep.
I have tried to disable all the gesture/smart wake features (double tap the screen, etc). The issue I'm having seems to relate to the light and/or proximity sensor. It seems (and I haven't been able to find any info on this, online or on the phone) that there is a feature which will enable the device to wake up when being picked up or taken out of my pocket. This doesn't always work, but sometimes it does. When I pull my phone from my pocket, it will sometimes wake up. When I glide my finger over the front camera & light sensor, it will sometimes wake up. This is a minor annoyance, as I would like to only be able to wake my device by hitting the power button.
It gets really annoying when these 'gesture' wakes start to interfere with the power button wake. For example (and this is happening more often than not), when I pull my phone out of my pocket, the phone is off, then I hit the power button once, and the phone still doesn't wake. Hitting the power button a second time will wake the device. It seems to me that the smart waking is some how interfering with the manual waking.
Is anyone else seeing this behavior?
Any suggestions for a solution?
Thanks a lot for any help.
This is really odd considering the M9 doesn't support air gestures. Sorry, I have no solution, but is it possible you may have installed an app that may be causing this?
I would think two button push would be the normal, otherwise you could accidentally hit it once and turn the screen on. Do you have Ambient display and pocket detection all turned off ?
Gravity Screen in the play store gives you total control of all that stuff
That for the replies guys.
Clsa, there is no way to disable ambient display & pocket detect because those features do not exist on the M9 (at least... Not that I have found). That's what is bugging me.
I don't think the 2 button press is normal. I've never had to do it on previous phones.
Fernand - not sure if it is another app causing it. I think I have no extra apps installed compared to my last phone.
I just tried Gravity Screen, and it seems to just give me the ability to enable all the features I want to disable.
Any other suggestions?

Settings / Display & Gestures / Ambient display (Wake screen when device is picked up or notifications arrive)
Pocket Detection is part of some Rom Tweaks (insertcoin & viperOne if i remember right)
Hi again, that option is not available on my phone. Do you see it on your M9?
I don't have a custom ROM. Not rooted either.

Yes I have it, but I'm on LeeDroid right now. He adds so much stuff i forget whats "custom" and whats stock
Got the same issue
The power button will ignore the first push while standing by for a long time. Thought it might be caused by apps like greentify?
Hi Ducati, is that a fact or is that just how you understand it? Seems strange that that would be intentional. But it definitely seems to be the case.
I do not have greenify installed either.
Do you get similar behaviour on your One?
After a bit more testing. I can confirm that there are some sort of air gestures on this device. I can wave my finger in front of the front light sensor/camera, and the device will wake.
This doesn't happen all the time, I am not always able to reproduce this. But right now, it is happening. Can anyone else reproduce this?
http://somevid.com/N1OnU8JS
I have the same issue on my M9. Glad I found this thread. Thought my power button was defective.
I can't activate any gestures by waving my hand.
I think it's happening mostly when waking from deep sleep.
I know it's an old thread, but I just installed CyanogenMod 12.1 and I guess my google-fu is rusty. I find that if I hit the power button in quick succession (double click) it turns off the phone. Anyone know how I can stop this?
By quick succession I mean multiple times within 20 seconds
HI everyone...
Got a bit of an odd one here, hoping someone can help.
For some reason, when the screen on my Sprint S6 is off, any SMS notifications get cut off (or I don't get them at all). I am expecting both an audio and/or vibration notification. If I turn my screen on, I will get the full notification as expected.
I thought maybe this was a problem with the DOZE settings, but I disabled YAATA from Battery Optimization, and it didn't fix anything.
Then I thought maybe it was a YAATA problem, so I went back to the standard built-in SMS app. Same results... either a cut-off, or no, notification when the screen is off, and a full notification when the screen is on.
Anyone have any suggestions on something else I could look at?
(For the record, I'm running stock, non-rooted Sprint S6...)
Much appreciated!
OK, after this has bothered me for MONTHS... I post here, and then figure it out.
I also have Glimpse Notifications installed on my phone. I just opened the app, and saw the following:
"Android Marshmallow sometimes cuts off notification sounds when the display turns on. In this case select Delay Screen On in the Extras menu."
... which, oddly enough fixed it.
I'll leave this here rather than delete it in case it helps others in the future.
