Subject pretty much sums it up. Not sure what the heck happened but, for some reason everytime my note 8 sleeps the display time out resets to 10 mins. so if I set the display timeout to 15 or 30 seconds and then let my display time out in 15 or 30 seconds it will but when I wake if up the screen will then not turn off until 10 mins has past. if I check display time out in settings/display it shows 10 mins. WTF. I do not have any tasker type apps or display changing/tweaking apps that I know of or battery opto apps etc.. also i have not yet taken the bluetooth fixing update that vzw is insisting to push on my note 8 as I dont want to inhibit my phones ability to potentially get root/bootloader unlock eventually.

hi i would like to ask 2 questions to see if its possible to do what i want
1. on my iphone it only displays the lock screen for about 5-10 seconds and then the screen goes off by itself if i dont unlock it in time, i would like my desire to do this if possible, i would like my screen set to 30 seconds but got off in about 5 seconds when on lock screen, sorry if this doesn't make any sense
2. keep the screen on permantly for certain apps e.g google maps etc
The lock screen goes off after a set time interval, but I think its longer than 5s, the back light once unlocked can be set to a maximum of 30 mins.

hi i no the lock screen goes off after a set interval but i would like 2 seperate times, lock screen at 5 seconds, normal use at 30 seconds
I am running CM 6.1 Stable, and have been for a while, yet this issue just popped up a few days ago.
I cannot get the phone to auto shutoff the screen when idle. I have it set to 5sec off and 1 sec lock, (down from 30 sec off, 5 sec lock before).
I have looked at the stock settings and all are in order.
The only thing different is I was trying to play with the setting on my Alarm Clock Plus regarding screen setup, but have reverted to original settings and even rebooted several times with no success.
Anyone else having issues with this? Any way to enable screen off again without having to flash a recovery?
It's really killing my battery fast!
Thanks for you help!

In the android display settings, 15 seconds is the least amount of time to turn off display. how is yours set to 5?
In cyanogenmod settings, theres options to tell the lockscreen to kick in after the screen has automatically turned off and when the user has pushed the power (sleep) button. what is your time set to in the android settings? (settings - display - screen timeout)

Um....finding rock, and hiding underneath it!!!
Turns out I am a moron that can't read.....but I swore that I had the display set to 30 sec....It was disabled. I will test again, over the next few days if for some reason it reverts to disabled.
Thanks!

Lol no prob. Happens to the best of us!
Ok so my One V locks its self before the time its set to timeout. I have the timeout time set at 10 mins but ever 5 or 6 seconds if im not touching the screen it goes black and locks its self. Anyone ever had this problem i don't know what to do about it .
try wiping cache,dalvik-cache in recovery. sounds like bad settings save info. once rebooted, reset timeout to the time you want and see if it resolves the issue.
Display time out keeps going back to 30 s. I changed my power modes quite a bit so far. It may be when I turn OFF the battery in the settings dropdown toggle. It calls itself optimizing, when it's turned off. I was able to carefully set options for battery saving with toggle on, and checked that turning ON the battery toggle didn't cause the 30 s reversion.
I need a fixed 10 minute set. I can't stand the 30 s reverting because the fingerprint sensor has been so faulty so far with waking it back up.
Same problem as me, we need to report to samsung to solve in next sw update
Right. Back to 30 s time then off after every other restart. Latest updates too.
well according to settings>device care it says that optimization happens once a day. That's probably why it is happening.
I may disable it. I def recommend that you set an extremely long time (files(Samsung A70s native file manager app)>settings)before it auto delets your files. Like 200 months would be probably ok.
Anyone has the same problem? I think it's stupid approach since we only got 10 second AOD in setting to begin with. This way the battery consumption will be greater for even 1 notification that comes in.
well, how would you want it to get your attention then?
the logic seems to be... if notification then wake the screen, after 10 seconds the set limit kicks in, turns it off, rince and repeat while notifs.
if it would wake up just once and you're not looking at the phone those 10 seconds you have nothing to let you know a notif came in.
try to limit the apps that can show notifications instead, that way it's gonna popup less often? and just leave it always on without the 10 seconds.
