Hello i installed a nexus 7 in my car not i really dont want to take out my center console because its a huge Pita. But i realise that i now need an otg. I was runninh sound via bluetooth to my radio but the lag os crazy. I have acces to the the end of my charging cable. I was wondering would adding a usb to usb adapter and a usb hub. Would that be consider a usb otg cable. Would i be able to purchase a usb dac and use it. Also could i charge at the same time. I have absolutely no room to fit a audio jack on my tablet. So usb dac is my only option.

You generally need a kernel installing to do as you have said eg elemental x or timurs. Yes, you can then use a usb otg cable to power and host the usb dac.
Hi, I was wondering if anyone has an experience to make a Samsung micro-USB to 3.5mm audio jack adapter to work? Something got into my audio jack socket causing contact issues. I don't have USB headphone, or external audio devices connected by OTG cable -- just plain headphone (or car audio's aux-in) connected to Note 2's usb port using the adapter ... will it work? Do I need an app to drive that?

Thanks -- unfortunately it didn't, but maybe because my USB-3.5mm adapter is too old (from another long dead Samsung phone). I even tried the SoundAbout app (free version) but still no joy. Maybe bluetooth is the solution to my problem but it's one more battery to charge.
Hi all, I have the Nexus 5 and wish to connect the TP-LINK TL-WN722N USB Wifi Adaptor but I am having no success, I purchased a Y Cable to connect it to my phone but when i plug it in nothing happens on screen or no light comes on the Wifi Adaptor, I plugged my charging cable into the other end of the Y Cable but it doesn't charge the phone, I thought my cable must be faulty but i've now used 3 more and all with the same outcome. Is there something i need to do to my phone to get this to work? The port on the phone works fine as it connects to my computer and charges perfectly when i just use a normal cable. If you can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

from doin this on my nexus 7 to use nethunter kali with the wifi adaptor i would say you need a rom and kernel that support usb-charge and host. stock android doesnt support wifi adaptors . u can access and use the adaptor in a linux kali but you cant use it in stock android to say browse the web instead of using on-board wifi chip/card.
edit : Also most of the y-cables you can buy from e-bay dont actually route power to the phone/tablet and to the attached device, the power only goes to phone, i had to make my own charge/host usb cable with a soldering iron and heatshrink tubing. this cable charges the phone/tablet and provides steady power to the attached devices (wifi adaptor, mouse,keyboard,hard-drive) the ones i mention previously from e-bay dont provide enough juice to power the adaptor.
You need a custom kernel with module loading, root and your wifi adaptorĀ“s module, altough my WN723N and a cheap old ethernet adaptor worked out of the box(chroma rom with elementalx kernel)

Hey so I've got a problem where I wanna connect my aux cable via a dongle to my phone, and all I get is a message ''Unsupported USB device''. I tried the USB sourcing thing in the dev options but no luck still. It worked on a Xiaomi with a dongle with no issues, could it be that I have to have the actual Samsung dongle?
Hmm, i also use a aux cable via dongle in my car, and it works without any problems.
It is not a Samsung dongle though.
Looks like the DAC which is in the dongle needs to be recognized by the phone as an audio device...
While Xiaomi phones support dongles without a DAC, Samsung phones only support ones with a DAC inside.
So, the phone needs a dongle with a DAC to output to your car,
The dongle Xiaomi includes with their phones does not have a DAC inside of it.
Makes sense. Xiaomy obviously stil has DAC inside the phone, meanwhile samsung doesn't which means that you need it inside the dongle.
