I have rooted my phone and have loaded a custom rom onto my Sprint Galaxy s6 but am still somehow unable to switch my phone to a different network. I paid a $200 fee to Sprint to unlock my phone and yet I am unable to switch to another network.
I'm trying to follow the guides on XDA for updating my frequency bands in order to be able to switch to Verizon but am unable to access any hidden menu to obtain my MSL. I've been following this guide here but cannot get QPST to recognize my phone...
Has anyone successfully switched from Sprint? How did you do it? I'm sort of a noob here so any in depth explanation would be appreciated. I'm jut trying to switch from this awful service...

Using the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-i747 version, the method worked however here is the dilemma.
I pre-emptively ordered an unlock code from an unlocking site. However, I stumbled across the above thread this morning and performed the procedure which worked and switched over to T-Mobile Prepaid. Given I heard T-Mobile is "re-farming" their network now, I am getting EDGE speeds. I've tried several different APN settings I've found online however it does not assist at all, when I run SpeedTest it comes up with an almost 500ping with .10mbs down and .10mbs up.
I'm looking to revert the procedure, which I went through the "common sense" method of going back in and doing the procedure to cut the "lock" back "on" however when rebooting the device still picks up the T-Mobile SIM and goes right back to their network, preventing me from accessing the Network Code Screen because I would like to go ahead and enter the unlock code I paid for just to have things done the "legit" method.
Things I've noticed on other forums about this method used. After doing so when you have no sim installed it will come up with a no sim card installed alert however I'm showing full bars even when a sim card is not installed.
One thing I have not tried was to reinstall my StraightTalk sim then performing the procedure to see if that will kick it back, will try later this evening and update this thread to show results.

Here's the issue. I purchased the At&t s3 (SGH-I747) last year. Long story short, I wanted to go to T-Mobile prepaid with the same phone.
I purchased the SIM activation kit for $10, popped my SIM in and it worked!
Before I put the SIM in it though, I paid for an unlock code. I still have the code.
No 'Network Unlock' screen.
No prompt for my unlock code.
I am getting H+ speeds with the at&t s3 on T-Mobile prepaid without doing ANYTHING.
My question is:
Why cant I get to the unlock screen? I have tried to dial "#7465625*638*# for the prompt to popup and NOTHING.
Can someone tell me...
1. Can I flash a T-mobile rom to this phone? (every time i try I get a build.prop error, even after changing the model to the T999 and all that jazz),
so I can't install a T-Mo rom?
2. Do I have to flash a modem/radio or anything else like that?
3. Or, should I just continue to flash At&t Roms with the t-mo prepaid sim?
I have searched for a while now, and noone has my problem. I never expected to just switch sim's and it would work, so ANY help would be appreciated.

If you have signal then why are you trying to use the code? It is unlocked already!
im not an expert but this is what i know from reading a lot:
1.- I installed a t-mobile (t999) rom modified to work in a att s3 (i747), i think you can flash a any rom from the t999 section (i am not sure about this)
2.- Do NOT try to install a modem from t-mobile or you will hard brick your phone.
3.- Thats a good idea, do it and let me know if it works.
I used this files to convert an i747 to a t999 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771021&page=25 (read from post #246) so now i use customs roms for the t999 i did it because where i live do not have good signal, was stuck at edge and with those files now i have 3g signal.
Btw, i am in the $30 prepaid t mo plan.

I've been using Att roms with this s3 and with this t-mo sim, Im getting constant H+ speeds here in Pittsburgh.

What would happen? If I setup a separate ROM slot in TWRP and flash the Verizon software onto my Sprint G2, would it boot? Reason being is I am trying some flashing procedures and want to try running the Verizon ROM, change my MSL to 000000 in DFS, and have it OTA activate onto PagePlus. I've had it work with other phones and wonder if it would work with this one.
No, it would not boot and you may end up with an expensive paper weight. I would not recommend doing that. Yes, with the Boost Mobile Moto G you can flash the Verizon ROM on it and it will boot and fully activate on PagePlus.
You can still change the MSL to 000000 on the Sprint ROM and it will activate on PagePlus with talk and text working. No data, not even 1x. You can then easily program the phone to get 1x data using CDMA workshop or DFS. Getting 3G of course is another story...

I am unsure if my phone is unlocked and can proceed with porting my number over to Metro PCS. Please help me with advice how to proceed. I decided to move my service to Metro PCS since they are now a Tmobile company and after lots of research, I found that I can use my current phone/software as long as it was unlocked. I recently purchased my Galaxy s4 second hand and assumed it was not unlocked. I had immediately rooted it and flashed a new rom (Insane Kitkat 4.4.4). The phone has been working well. I already have requested and have my unlock code from Tmobile.
When I went to the Metro PCS store to port over my number, the phone did not request an unlock code when inserting their Metro PCS sim card (not activated). They said that my phone may already be unlocked or that it may not need to be unlocked since Metro is now owned by T-mobile. They stated that it may work if they go through the entire registration process, port over my number and activate it but that it would be a gamble. If it did not work, then I would not be able to go back and reactivate my sim immediately with Tmobile since it would then be in deactivated status with them.
I tried to find out if it is already unlocked by *#7465625# but my phone will not run this or any other USSD codes to verify. I keep getting errors when trying any USSD codes. A message says 'USSD code running' then "unable to process request".
A friend of mine has an activated Galaxy S4 on Metro PCS and I tried inserting her sim card to prompt for the unlock code but my GS4 just booted normally then showed 'not registered on network'. It did, however, have cellular signal bars. When I inserted my Tmobile sim into her GS4 it did ask for the unlock code normally.
I am at a loss now..
funny, I like to know if there is a way to check carrier unlock status for simcard without having to put a simcard in.

Could the custom rom be suspect?
Maybe need a stock rom to get carriers sorted out, then go to custom roms.

I ended up contacting Tmobile and they stated that the phone showed unlocked status already but I think you are correct. I wasn't aware they could tell me this. It was very fast and super easy to find out.
I have the phone working great on Metro PCS now. USSD codes still failing though...
Hi to all, im new on the forum, i was looking to find a way to unlock my S3 t999 which has the android 4.3 JB, i got a lot of info but it seems that i only Rooted my S3, i found out that there an easy way to do it whit the Service mode but since i have Stock 4.3 its impossible, was looking a way to downgrade to 4.1.1 but probably ill get a brick, so if there any way that i get some help unlocking my device i sure will appreciate it.
After 4.1.2 I think there is no free alternative available (unless your carrier gives unlock codes for free after a certain time period). The best way to unlock your phone would be by contacting your carrier for an unlock code which usually means paying a fee or using a pay service. I would recommend using your carrier because they will offer better support and this would reduce your risk of getting scammed by a online service.

Hi! Where do I begin?! So I have a tmobile s3 T999LTE version. Previously I rooted it because I wanted custom rom on my phone. Then I wanted to sell it so I unrooted it. I had read somewhere that after unrooting I should revert to latest stock firmware which was 4.3...BIG MISTAKE! It's now running on 4.3...LUVUBOH1 and I CAN'T UNLOCK IT! Tmobile had sent me a code which did not work, then I switched to metro pcs and purchased a code off ebay,which was the SAME code tmobile had given me. I now have metro pcs on another phone and when I put in my current sim in s3 it doesn't prompt for code! And no key combos are working due to change in dialer. I am stuck and gave no idea how to fix it. Imei is valid and I'm pretty sure I'm running stock 4

Was the phone running a completely stock rom when you tried to enter the code? How many times did you try to enter the code?
