There is a line of code that needs to be changed prior to building AOSP. I have a build where it is working but the feature is a bit buggy itself. Haven't found any other way to enable it.

Proximity sensor?

Searching on the proximity sensor I found these two parameters for the startup.txt:
board-htcrhodium-proximity.on=1 to enable the proximity device (default off)
board-htcrhodium-proximity.wake=1 to wake up the phone on proximity
http://xdandroid.com/wiki/Kernel_boot_command-line_parameters
But I can't get them to work.
Are they really available on FRX07 or NeoFroyo?
Thanks

The prox sensor is not enabled on the hardware level (kernel). Perhaps they will be available soon tho, I think ACL was working on them.

I think that if it's enabled kernel-side(I don't think so) you need to edit keymaps in rootfs to use it
But if it's not used kernel-side then you have to mess with the source

There's some hacking at the rootfs you'd have to do. F22's rootfs allowed you to remap the key to a few different things, but unfortunately he never made a merge request for his code... which wouldn't have been easy, he would've had to change the way he did certain things. His rootfs hasn't been updated in quite some time, so I would not recommend using it. I'm sure you can take his keymap stuff tho and put it into an updated rootfs - with a little bit of manual labor you'll be able to remap the PTT key to a few different things.
See F22's rootfs thread for more info on that.
i should have something to test for the prox sensor this week. Just finished the patch .. To be honest i have no idea when it's actually used or if our userland is ready for it.

kernel done but turns out we need some userland patches.
Wow you're really Johnny on the spot
i dunno if thats good or bad
I thought it was good, but sometimes when I try to make a reference it goes horribly awry.
Looks like this will be saved for gingerbread. Since userland changes need to be made, its not worth it to make em for froyo.
So next release of GB will have it

actually prox is only tested on cdma and the gsm portion needs to be checked. Anyone have a recmodded rom ? or know how to pull dlls? PM me please since i need to double check on some stuff

Double press power button to launch camera

Okay, call me crazy, but I am positive that that shortcut was not present before. I have the latest security patch, no root, no bootloader unlocked, no custom rom. I double pressed it and the camera launched. I don't know if it has to do with hiding the stock Sense Home screen via adb. I don't know what I did. I don't find a setting or anything in the entire system.

It also works on any screen and app. Software number varies, though.
Works with motion launch turned on or off.

Now that you mention it, I remember someone on the Viper10 thread requesting it, and saying it was available on Nexus. I have never owned a Nexus phone myself; only Nexus tablets; but the new Pixel line is certainly intriguing.

It's a nice feature, fastest camera shortcut, imo. Somehow, I am the only one to have it naturally. I asked LlabTooFeR on Twitter and he doesn't know about it, said it could be a "bug".

I have only tried some apps but don't work
Yeah, I read it somewhere, it's one of the effects of disabling the HTC Lockscreen. Having the stock Android Lockscreen enables that double press shortcut.
I have a question too though, does the fingerprint scanner work on the Stock Android Lockscreen?
Question: how do I disable this feature?

Adding Always on display is ridiculous on our phone as the display is not done for it. Ambiant display is already there if you means the screen showing notifications while on black when receiving. For gestures, what do you mean? It has dt2w and that is the only gesture we do have on this device. For ota I already talked about it with him and he don't know if it will come. It is not up to him but it is the rom creator that must do it

so here is the link to camera hal sources https://github.com/omni-zuk/device_z...oid-8.1/camera
all commits are open here and ready for cherry-pick https://github.com/omni-zuk/device_z...0a9787bab45b33 well developers needs to revert this commit because this commit only for omnirom which don;t need project pathmap so reverting it will work for other roms and make hal compatible for other roms without issues.

Rom with always on display?

Does anyone know of a rom that has always on display? I was going to go with codename phoenix but it has been discontinued and I don't know of another one.
Omni has it. Codename Phoenix is still being built, just no dedicated support. It's rock solid loaded with features.
Also, there is a substratum theme that supports it as well.

I believe it works in all the 8.1 Roms as long as you flash the OOS Oreo firmware.
As mentioned apparently you can enable this feature on the 8.1 only.
I use Always on Amoled from the store or glance plus. They both work well.

Probably if you give all the permission and accessibility probably work as we want but i don't want to give every permission to the app im. Waiting for a good rom baked but for now it's ok

Question FaceID for pixel 6 pro?

Hi, i was wondering if its possible to port the face recognition option we used to have on older android versions as a mod on the pixel 6 pro. I believe they used the front camera.
Are there any accuracy problems associated with using front camera?
I just needed a faster option to unlock at work as my hands get kinda dirty and the FP sensor on pixel 6 is sensitive to dust unlike the one on my pixel 3 XL (RIP legend).
If there is a solution that exists already, please forgive my naivety and point me to the thread/discussion for it. Thank you!
I don't think there is currently a solution and I doubt there will be unless Google includes it later.
Can you use smart unlock, with your works WiFi? Or location unlock if it has that?
There were reports that FaceID is in the code, but that it was not used on the P6 because it drains the battery. Since the battery is not great as is, I can see the point. I also wonder how secure it is, as Apple uses dedicated hardware to ensure security (thus the notch), but Google seems to rely on the camera alone -- I assume it's a more secure unlock than the totally inon-secure fake FaceID unlocks on many Chinese phones, like Xiaomi.
On another note, I am trying to use my Garmin watch as a trusted device, but about half the time it doesn't work and the phone would ask for PIN. The trusted device implementation, at least with a watch, is kind of a joke, so I am thinking of disabling it at this point.
I am using Trusted Location. Seems like its working fine. Google 'begs' to have you turn 'on' location function for several of its niceties to work. So security joins the growing pile.

Trusted location is poor security, for many reasons.
Anyone at the location can unlock your phone, so for most of us it's not a solution.

Was about to say this. Wifi/Location unlocking when at work is not a good idea.
There is a reason why we lock our phones, and no human is perfect - you might forget it for a moment, or get distracted - whatever.
If someone doesn't care for security in any way (I am perfect & my phone will 24/7 stay on me, no matter what) then he/she/is doesn't need any sort of security active in the first place.

It can certainly be done, but you'll have to write some of the code for it yourself. There are a number of open source facial recognition packages available that you can leverage for this.

I work in construction and so there's usually no wifi at work. And the location differs almost everyday so that won't be a viable solution as well.

Nononono, wrong approach. You do NOT want to bypass phone security. You want to integrate into it. Android is an open source operating system, just find the code where the 4 included unlock mechanisms are defined (swipe/pattern/pin/password), and add your own in the same way.

Fax cus I'm sure that "don't turn off screen if I'm looking at it" feature uses battery and it's ALWAYS ON when you're on your phone if you turn it on. Face ID only on when you use it, how can that even affect battery ?

But is it a secure lock like Apple's Face-ID or is it a gimmick like on the various Chinese phones, that's more for "entertainment purposes only?"

Yeah but it would only be looking for one thing. Maybe all the battery used on image processing for FaceID adds up over the many unlocks during the course of the day. Thats why i am keen to have it enabled only while I'm at work as the FP works fine in all other circumstances.
