Just got an XA1 Ultra.... before that had a G4, which regularly stated link speeds of 433Mbps, same for my LG tab and my wife's S7 shows 866Mbps...so here I am with my XA1 getting only 135Mbps....??? Why would that be? It can't actually be a hardware limitation, can it?
Help please. I, too, have such a very small speed problem
, - - - z5 it shows 433 megabytes.

Hi,
Anyone here using Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360 before buying Sony Xperia M?
If you did so, the signal reception is better than Galaxy Y, isn't it? I was thinking to buy a Xperia M.
You should get one bro... Im loving it... way better than my galaxy s2 except for the camera.., im also missing the amoled screen but if your jumping from galaxy y to Xperia m, youll like the display better.. Though my galaxy s2 is a beast I still prefer the 4hours+ screen time of my m over the 2hours+ screen on time of my s2 and the fact that it can match the gpu performance of the overclocked mali400 in my s2 without any overclocking means my Xperia m will be a keeper :sly:
And to answer your question, yes it is... Internet speeds seems even better than when I had a galaxy y

Ohh! Galaxy Y is a very low end device and has very low specs but xperia M is a powerful budget phone
All features are excellent no problems in network or speakers. the camera has some problems at low lights though

worst signal strength in xperia m dual. right now there is one another android phone model - alcatel one touch 918N near me that I'm using as Wi Fi modem . this xperia m dual I bought for 14000 rupees and its not even catching bsnl 3g signal. catches 3G only at terrace. but this cheap phone alcatel one touch bought for lesser than half of price of xperia m dual (6000 rupees only) is catching full 3G that I'm using as wi fi modem right now. shame on Sony. in India micromax or alcatel phones or samsung are best and all people should buy other phones but never buy Sony The robbers phone. total waste according to price. phones like xperia are so high priced but they work like China made phones whose costs are 2000 to 3000 rupees. but just because of the Sony tag they selling it for above 10 thousand price. I know...... everyone have their own choice. They have their rights to use any brand they want.
I have bought Xperia E1 dual instead of Xperia M and I admitted that the signal strength is better than my young brother's Galaxy Y Neo.

It will lead to hard brick...
What I can say is make sure that your phone software is always updated.
Or you can try some extreme mods out of xda-developers (Google for it).

I found some xperia basebands (radios) or you can say modem but they didn't worked on xperia m dual. failed to flash. may be compatibility issues because those posts were from 2012 and xmd was released in 2013.

So I'm looking for a nice 5 to 5.2" phone to fill the hole my xperia z3 compact left in my heart! Does anyone have this variant of the zuk z2? Is it rocking a more stable rom? I know MWC is just around the corner. Looking for a little help deciding. Thanks!

There is no such thing as international version. There are Chinese aka ZUK Z2 and Indian aka Lenovo Z2 Plus.
The stock ZUI is a big mess and not very polished, although it's frequently updated. There is official stable Nougat available.
Other than that, there is a great support for this device from the custom ROM devs, probably 2nd most popular SD820 Chinese phone after Mi5.
For the price it goes for, there's nothing else that even comes near it. The base Mi5 costs around 40 bucks more (3/32).
Now if you're coming from Z3 compact, you'll notice a difference, since this device (zuk z2) is as big as the original Xperia Z. I've came from Moto X 2013 and even after months I can still notice it's a bit larger than I was used to. Other than that, it's a great device.

I've bought my device on Banggood for 169$ with use of coupons. Shipment to my country (Poland) took about 20 days. Installing TWRP is "easy-peasy" and from this you have open way to installing various roms. If you won't like ZUI you can try official MOKEE rom (which gives more AOSP expreience with great battery life). I've flashed ZUI based on Nougat debloated by user Francko76 and installed Action Launcher 3. Works great as my daily driver and by the end of day (with my usage) I still have about 20% battery left. As I know, most frequent issues with this device are antenna and usb port.
I bought the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) a year ago and to this day I think it is the perfect phone. I waxed poetic about it for several thousand words on my blog today.
In 2018, we saw the A3, A5 and A7 replaced with the A8, a device falling between the A5 and A7 of last year. But what about the A3? To start with, it wasn’t even released in all parts of the world, and now it’s been shelved completely. I know the argument, that there simply aren’t enough takers for a compact device, but boy would it have been lovely to see the line progress and improve with time, while keeping the same dimensions.
What do you guys think? Did you want to see an update to the A3 as much as I did? Which phone will you update to if your A3 were to stop functioning today?
Nice blog post (I used GSMArena like you with common settings). I agree on you. This phone is (nearly) perfect and it is really a shame that no brand understand the need for a compact smartphone.
Unfortunately, it is not perfect for me since I really like/need notification LED. Another default is the lack of B28 (LTE, used in France) unlike A5 or S8.
So if I had to use another phone, it would be the S8 (I don't use fingerprint) because of notification LED & B28.
But for now I don't need B28 and for notification LED replacement, I use an app called "Glimpse notifications" (with recurring notifications every 30 seconds without much battery drain). So I'll use this A3 until I find a deal on S8.
Hello!
So I love BIG phones...which you probably guessed since I use the Z3 Tablet Compact as my phone.
Still I would like to have some newer tech on my phone, like MUCH better camera than the very bad ones on my Z3. No my phone is not my main camera but its nice to have something better. Also with built in flash (for flashlight usage). Not to mention more internal space and OLED screen.
Sadly there are no phones that can replace my Z3 and make me 100% happy since these days all phones have what I like to call the hotdog form factor.
My ideal phone would be like my old Mediapad X2 format and size with smaller bezels and newer hardware...but for now, this skinny form factor trend continues so looks like the best I could do for now is the 7.2" Mate 20x.
Has anyone gone from a Z3 to the Mate 20x?
I will be using it with AT&T and going for the L29 version. Likely will add some Squaretrade warranty when buying from Amazon.
Some recent feedback from the phone owners would be nice. One thing that got me holding back (aside from still hoping someone bringing a big 16:9 or 16:10 phone) is the fact that there is a Huawei 30...so I was wondering if a 30x is not too far off from being announced.
Thanks!
I still miss my old zenfone 3 ultra, but only phone who was getting close to it is my m20x... But really dont like 19:9... Miss the 16:9 a lot.

Oh I remember considering the zeonfone although dont recall why I didnt get one in the end. So you can imagine, coming from even bigger phones like the Mediapad X2 and the Z3 Tablet Compact...going to a smaller (thanks to the lame aspect ratio) phone is worrying me.
Guess I will just get one and test drive it before I sell my Z3
Looking at Z3 tablet form factor, ideal upgrade for you would be Mediapad M5 8. https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9092&idPhone2=6633
Maybe M6 is also coming soon.
Also consider this for taking calls on the go. https://consumer.huawei.com/sg/wearables/talkband-b5/
I have had various large phablets and tablets that I used as a phone as well, such as the Dell Streak (remember that one!), Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, Huawei MediaPad X1, X2, M2, M3, M5 8.4, Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Xiaomi Mi Max 3.
Recently I switched from my MediaPad M5 8.4 LTE to, briefly a Samsung Galaxy Note9, and now a Huawei Mate 20X.
The main reasons were that the M5 was getting slow and had this annoying Huawei memory cleanup app that I could not get rid off, it did not have dual SIM plus sufficient storage and it was just not comfortable to use as a camera and the camera sucks as well.
I still have the M5 but ever since I got the 20X i do not use the M5 anymore, not even at home on the couch.
I would like to have root but on the other hand I don't really miss much without it. I use Nova Launcher with different themes and I can change fonts with an app from Google Play. And I save a lot of time by not having to mess with custom ROM's etc.
The battery life of the 20X is awesome and it fits my hands fine, although I prefer it would be lighter.
And I wish they would offer the international version with 256GB as well.
I was watching movies on my Mediapad M3 8.4. I am selling it and getting the Mate 20 X.
Is anyone switching from a bigger tablet to a Mate 20 X and or prefer watching movies on Mate 20 X? Is it big enough to watch streaming content?

I too had pretty much same devices as you. starting from dell streak( it was one of a kind in looks in those days), galaxy note 1, mega 6.3, mediapad x1, x2, m3, xiaomi mix, honor note 10, mate 20x.
with mediapad x2, i always wished it to have lesser non screen area. i think 20x fits screen and size part pretty well.
Hi,
Running AIMark (search for it im Play Store, I'm not allowed yet to post links) which also Anandtech uses for ML/DNN benchmarking gives me in Android 9 ca. 7800 points, only half of the score as when running it on another Moto Z2 device still with Android 8.0 where the score is almost 14000!
The benchmark uses the Snapdragon Neural Processing Engine (SNPE) for ML interference which can support DSP/GPU(?) acceleration. Without the required libraries from Qualcomm only the CPU cores will be used, which of course is slower.
The score for Moto Z(1) is with 13500 almost the same as for the Z2 what makes sense as both Hexagon DSPs 680/682 are quite similar. A newer 845 I tested (Sony, Android 9, Hexagon 685) has a score of ca. 19000.
In the Anandtech article (I can't link) the scores of LG V30 (835) vs. S9 (845) are similar in the same way. But a Pixel 2 XL, presumely without the Hexagon/DSP hardware support libraries looks really bad there.
Could somebody with an Android 9 upgraded Z2 try out the benchmark and tell me his/her score? This Chinese app wants access to calls and media (Maybe it only collects device name/IMEI etc. for statistics/ranking but who knows?) so be careful when you use it with your everyday phone.
If this is not a specific problem of my device then I guess the SNPE acceleration suffered a major regression for the Z2 (835) in Android 9 or some libs for hardware acceleration are missing .
Can someone else confirm this?
Thanks, M.
