Switching ROMs - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of switching from Lineage OS to Copperhead OS, but I'm worried about losing the apps and games that I have. I know there is Titanium, but I'd like to keep the ROM as secure as possible, so what is an app or website I can use to keep my apps updated without needing Google Play Services?

[Q] Minimal build

I've had a look in the forums and can't find anything that covers this specific question so am hoping someone can help.
I'm currently running the latest CM12 highly build on a Tab S 8.4 and it's flying along. But there's a nagging annoyance that there are still a load of additional apps there that I don't want, mainly stuff like Play Games,Movies and Music and now I've switched to Outlook and the Gmail App, I don't need the standard email app (although this seems to be built into the CM12 package). But I do want things like the Kindle App, Chrome and, if possible, Maps.
Over the weekend I tried to run with just the CM12 build and then add applications from APKMirror. This worked OK with Kindle but Chrome wouldn't install and my tablet seemed unstable so I reverted to the latest nightly plus the gapps package,
So my question is, has anyone done this - just install the CM11 or CM12 build and then get everything else they want through downloading APKs individually?
Answering my own question I found this Minimal GAPPS which gives you a build that includes pretty much only the App Store from which you can then download the additional Apps you want.
It's not what I really wanted to do but is as close as makes no difference.

IYHO - whats the best setup now for E6853

Hello. A straight question.
Those of you that use the Z5P, what is your current favorite setup? and why?
I'm looking for a rom that gives me some freedoms. to add things like cpu control, ad blocking. but without losing the ability to use apps that fail when they detect root on the device. such as banking apps and some games.
I enjoy the features of having magisk or SuperSU, being able to add a couple of apps that completely change the experience of using my phone. but at the cost of losing security and functionality of apps I may use daily its a hard choice.
I've been looking around for a complete solution to try and get both options. be able to use my phone, with safetynet, google play certified. apps all working without errors of root being found, .. and to have root access for those all important adblocking and cpu management apps that just wont work without root.
Is there such a rom?
Lately I've used that Mrom thats been updated recently. its a very good solid rom (plus its great to see active development on the Z5P forums again). a few small issues, that i'm sure will be fixed over time. but safetynet does not pass, and playstore is not certified, games and apps detect root, even with magisk hide enabled correctly.
i've tried using lineage for a while, smooth. very nice rom. shame though that the visual enhancements for the screen, camera and sound are not available because its only able to be used in stock roms due to those DRM keys sony have hidden away on our devices. so a major function of the phone, being a music device, and a camera, I'd like to keep those features if i can.
What roms / kernels make your Z5 worth keeping.
Thank you for your time.
Pat.

Mi A2 lite with custom ROM question.

Hey, I have a Mi A2 lite with stock android one. But it really CANT multitask. It always kill the apps and restart them, I've tried everything and nothing work. If I change it to another kernel like lineageOS etc, would it fix? Do you have problems with your custom ROM android? For example, you go from YouTube to Facebook without having to reload all apps?

I didn´t find any option on stock Android One nor custom roms to avoid apps to be reloaded, in Miui there are options to keep them for days and more. When I use a vanilla custom rom based and I want to keep certain apps running I ever use the app KeepRunning from Defim developer, you have to set a time and your marked apps will be running there as long as you want.

My old cellphone didn't have that problem, all xiaomis phone kill apps like that? I can't even switch from YouTube to Chrome without reloading, it literally kills the apps and ram stays at 2.5 GB, from 3. I gonna have to buy another phone probably.

No, this is not by the side of phone models, all the newer phones do that, this is hardly introduced from Google as every new Android version is out there.
I had many Xiaomi devices but really so far as supposed to be Android One is not good in various senses like those running Miui.
My last Mi 8 Lite could hold easily 8 and more tasks without any issue and when I want to sure that certain special apps remain alive was as simple as lock it/them in recents, exclude it/them from battery management and maybe disabling Miui optimization feature.
I´m actually using Miui and can keep atleast 5 tasks maybe cause this firmware is not optimized and didn´t come with it.

Non root rom selection/magisk

Hey folks, I've tried a few roms on here and while every one has their perks most I've tried are rooted. Is there any/many roms which are decent (personal preference of course) thay isn't rooted? My main reason is my banking apps along with a slew of other apps still won't load even though I've magisk setup and working perfect, the apps still don't launch properly and crash. Other apps then like Snapchat etc launches perfectly with magisk so I know it's working correctly. So I thought if I had a non rooted rom it might be handier as the stock rom has so much nonsense in it compared to my oneplus 6 that I upgraded from. My note 10+ should be a rocket compared to it.
I have mine rooted with stock rom and have no problems with my banking app

Question banking apps problems

Hi wise guys.
Does anyone know how to fix/avoid the banking apps problems on this device?
Mine is unrooted, like from factory, just full of apps and the MIUI crashes or slows down the phone from time to time (every 15-30minutes for 30s) and sometimes it just reboots for no reason.
Also, is there any bloatwareless ROM like the good EU roms for the mi5s?
It's a shame that xiaomi is adding crapware that screws with the user experience!
Thx
