Hi, just got my Note 10.1 LTE. Should we really use a screen guard?? by the way I hate those.. I never used a screen protector in my Galaxy S - its been 3years without any scratch.
My note 10.1 came with a free screen guard (SuperGuard - Clear for Note 10.1 2014) from my vendor. And I checked documentation for the devce.. didn't find Gorilla Glass mentioned anywhere.. so the question is - should we really use a screen protector for Note 10.1 2014?
Comments and your experience please..
Screen protectors required?
Hi Guys,
Please help with your experience.. do we really need to use the so called 'screen guards' / screen protector film?

Don't bother.
You will be fine without a screen guard.

This was my answer to a similar question on another thread....hope it helps....
My brother has never used any screen protectors on his devices and they all have pristine screens, I on the other hand have a few scratches on my S3 but that's only because I work in an Engineering environment where there are all sorts of materials flying about plus I no longer care tbh and use the phone even with dirty hands.
To be honest considering how much I use my phone its actually done pretty well, I have a 1cm long deep scratch and about 4 really light scratches that are barely noticeable and I've had the phone since release.
If your going to just use it in the house I would say you don't need one but you never know.
P.S. I don't think that really answers your question but still atleast you have something to think about haha

I've seen reviews and spec lists for the 2014 Note around the web that specify that it has Gorilla Glass 3. The Samsung website does not mention the glass at all, but that does not mean it doesn't have it.
I have an HP Touchpad which has Gorilla Glass 1. It never saw a screen protector and it doesn't have a scratch on it.
I do not intend to put a screen protector on my Note.
It has now seen three cases already though. So far I like the Poetic slimline best.

the old 6 of one half a dozen of the other
i agree about the strengths of modern day screens
gorilla glass or not
but i find without a screen the fingerprints are harder to clean as i use mine for drawing etc
i had my P600 with a screen and without a screen and then i put a screen back on
i use Benks screens (anti fingerprints - and it really makes a difference)...... love em.......
if you put on a cheap screen then you wont know what i am talking about
i can understand if people dont use em.....
cheers all and love my P600

There was a long thread on this on AndroidCentral. One person was told by Samsung Technical Support that it had Gorilla Glass 3, and another was told it has a Samsung plated glass that is just as good.
I guess either way it's pretty tough glass. I saw a test on Gorilla Glass 2, it's a lot tougher than any tablet or phone needs.
I am using the xtreme guard screen protector and quite happy with it. I have dropped my tablet couple of times and I am glad I had the screen protector

Screen protectors don't prevent a screen from cracking, they only prevent the screen from scratches.
Never had one on a phone/tablet...and never needed one. They make the screen look crap IMO (unless you're extremely good and make sure there are no air bubbles). But then I still hate them! If it was that vital to have one, Samsung would include one by default.

Not necessarily true. Zagg xtreme shields specifically state that they add impact resistance as do just like glass screen protectors. Tempered glass protectors also do A LOT to increase the chance of your devices screen surviving a fall. Hope this was helpful.

I'm not trying to start an arguement here lol but I honestly dont see how a screen protector can prevent a screen from cracking, what it will do is keep the glass in place when it does crack which is a good thing in such an incident.
I understand however anyone who has used a tempered glass protector will swear by their ability to keep a screen from cracking. I theory they absorb the impact and crack then selves rather than letting your screen crack. Personally they have saved my own devices over a half dozen times. So in practice if certainly seems to work. Some such as MIME Ghost Glass actually are harder and more scratch resistant than Gorilla glass 3 and many believe feel better than their stock screens. While this is all anecdotal and opinion you will find a huge number of people on these forums staunchly defending them. That being said, I have yet to put any screen protector on my Note 2014 as always hope this was helpful.

Order 10.5 " tablet yesterday. Will be get it tomorrow. By going through specifications i realise that this one don't gorilla glass. Does tablet has other kind of scratch resistant protection? As i pay too much on this i have no mood to spend some more money for now for buying scratch guard or tempered glass.
Stop being cheap and get a screen protector. My tablet has gorilla glass and I still put a protector on it. It's not scratch proof only scratch resistant.

A protector is virtually mandatory. Tempered glass is best IMO. Worth the extra few bucks.

Have had my sm-t700 for a lil over 6 months now never used a screen protector and I have zero scratches. I do use the samsung slim case for it so i'm guessing that's helps. I do tend to clean my screen with my shirt or whatever is handy on a daily basis and I swear it looks the same as the day I took it out of it's new box. Must say i'm really impressed.

Screen protectors (especially tempered glass) are like insurance. You may never need them but when/if you do they're irreplaceable. Besides, for 10 bucks or so to protect a $400 tab? Where's the downside?

Hi,
I am planning to buy Xperia t2 ultra dual.I liked its design and UI very much. But my doubt is regarding its screen.I have searched internet for many days just to find out about whether T2 ultra has gorilla glass or not.
I just want to know whether it has gorilla glass or any other. Is xperia T2 ultra's huge screen resistant to scratches? I hope its users can give me a satisfying reply.
If its not scratch resistant then how do you guys protect it from scratches?
I have also read someone saying that it is a fragile mobile not able to withstand tough handling,is it true?
How was your experience using T2 ultra?
It would be very helpful if you can give me a satisfying reply.
Hello,
Screen is not fully scratch resistant but it is fine. You can buy tempered glass for this device which helps to prevent and complete protection frim scratches and screen bricks.
Cost is only $2/3. There are some back panel protection glasses are also available in market, stop scratches on back panel.
I am using it since first day.
Full protection
Thank you , But just one more doubt
Sir, thank you for your reply.I just want to know whether it has gorilla glass or
Ofcourse It has corning Gorilla glass 3(Damage resistance glass) .
No it does not has a gorilla glass protection. That's why we use a tempered glass screenguard. It offers the same protection as gorilla glass

Oh thats confusing.!!
Sir, you see one of the member is saying it has gorilla glass and you are saying it doesn't?
This is the main problem i faced when i decided to buy this phone. Some say it has gorilla glass while others say it doesnt. So what is true?? I contacted customer care (Sony India) and it seems even they are not sure.Has anyone had any experience with the scratch resistant capabilities of T2 ultra's screen?
PS: I think sony should mention about the screen in their product description
Dude, in 1 line : don't worry about screen protection, it has and additionally u can use tempered glass without any touch performance issue. Buy or not its your desire
In current, Gorilla glass is not a mark to choose a device, it was in past years.

Hi, does the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite use Corning Gorilla Glass? There are multiple sources that it does, and multiple sources that it doesn't.

I have no idea. But I didn't have a screen protector and my screen got scratched in the first week of use (I took good care of it). It has a couple minor scratches. I found them when installing the protector. They are super tiny. I'm unable to see them with unless you reflect the light in the precise spot. Although, the scratch is there.

Thanks for reply. My protector should be delivered to me tomorrow but I was just wondering if it was even needed. My previous phone was Nexus 5. I've had it for almost 4 years and I am still surprised that it didn't collect any scratches.

My previous phona was a nexus 5, too! Died due to failure of the power button. Although, it always wore a screen protector. Better safe than sorry
From what I've read from various sites is that the Mi A2 has Gorilla Glass 3, few mention the Lite only has tempered glass. Best bet to get a screen protector, just in case
I'm also not sure but I do use my A2 Lite without case or screen protector and the screen hasn't had any scratches yet (month or so)
I have already tried a OnePlus 8 pro protector, but that protector is just ever so slightly too tall and not wide enough. It is 6.78" after all...
Does anybody have any ideas on what I can try next, so we can find a solution to this screen protector situation... I like the look of curved, but I absolutely hate the hassle it causes with screen protectors.
Does anybody have any suggestions... I'm willing to buy and try until we find one that works.
WHY put a protector over Gorilla Glass Victus?
I gave up screen protectors!

Because some of us like to use a protector, and the glass will eventually scratch... Especially the oleophobic coating. If you don't have anything constructive to add, then why bother. Go and be happy with your phone without a protector....

Bailed out on protectors back in the Oneplus 7T days and rapidly realized I was wasting my time with a protector. Never used one and my 8T and zero scratches over the last year. Hope the tech only gets better, so I for one see no reason for it. But.. This is an opinion.

Exactly! I'm tempted with every phone to add a screen protector but Gorilla Glass Victus is also said to surpass Gorilla Glass 6 in terms of durability. Corning states that Victus is two times more scratch-resistant than Gorilla Glass 6 and up to four times scratch-resistant than competitors.

I REALLY AM LOOKING FOR A GLASS SCREEN PROTECTOR, I PREFER THEM. SO WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP INTERUPTING THE THREAD WITH YOUR PREFERENCES.
I have 2 on the way, Super sheildz glass and a basic tpu from amazin. Considering how scratched even the glass protectors get, and I do not kick my phones around, I want to be able to sell it mint and You cannot do that if it doesn't have a case and screen on it from day one.
I get top buck for my phones because of that. Your MMV but it's a cheap investment. IntelliGlass has been sold and that was my fave so no screens from them and I'll be damned if I'll pay 40$ for one from Spigen even if it's the best, ill wait till it's half off.
There will be more entries into the market but it's limited right now. I'll post back on how it goes.
There seems to be a problem with the fingerprint reader not working when a glass screen protector is fitted, the one i fitted to my Pro was absolutely rubbish and pinged off so i didnt get to see the problem but the Spigen on i put on my wifes 6 means her fingerprint scanner doesn't work correctly now.

This. I don't see any scratches on my 2 year old 4 XL. Screen protectors were a pain in the ass to apply in the old days when the screens were flat. But now, not only the screen is curved as fuᴄk, but there's also that on-screen fingerprint reader that is already not great. Over my dead body am I dealing with the nightmare that would be a screen protector on this thing.

I get it bro... Is using the finger print unlock important to you? Every glass protector I've seen (on Amazon) the title either says "doesn't support finger print reader" or the reviews say that. Since your phone already has glass screen (please don't tell at me for saying that ) would you consider one of those plastic screen protectors? That's what I'm thinking about getting. Yes I'm answering your question.
Also you spelled interrupting wrong. You forgot the second R.
