i have lg g3 d855 MM stock, stock kernel. wifi isnt working. my main target is to flash stable costume rom.
so i need unlock bootloader, but that requires root. but root needs internet.
how do i start? root first, unlocking, twrp, and flash rom?
if downgrade to lolipop is required i need guide for that too.
thank you !
You can just search on google "how to root lg g3 d855 marshmallow" or something similar and you'll get different methods, so you can choose!

I was wondering if there was some method for rooting the LG G3 on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). I've searched far and wide on the internet but have found nothing so far. I did see that there were methods for the Nexus devices but nothing for LG.
Would like this as well. I thought I could live a while without root.. Seems like I just can't. :crying:
I think that you can find already rooted lollipop version on the forum.
For now, i nowhere found any root options.

now it's impossible to root lollypop via purpledrake, ioroot or other programs but you can flash a rooted bumped rom.
I'll wait for this.
Same situation here.
Planned to use the pre-rooted lollipop but to use it you need twrp on the phone. To get twrp you need first root. So its a dead end, a points on b and b points back on a, both needing the other present first.....
Maybe if you flash an older kdz, root it with any of the previous methods, then get twrp on the phone and then flash the pre-rooted lollipop. Im just gonna wait for a lollipoproot without twrp needed.

I am on 5.0 and tried purpledrake (since i used it with 4.4.2), but it did not work, i also tried Stump and got an error too. With 5.0 the structure has changed and the methods for KK are different to Lollipop. So far, even with Nexus, the only way to root is through bootloader/kernel.
Hopefully soon we will see a method that can bypass this.
This is the method that works on the d855 by skin1980 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-lollipop-rooted-rom-skin1980-t2936022

Yup, thats the reason why i downgraded it to KK. Downgrade, root and you can install rooted L.

Does that work then? I'm on Lollipop 20a on the D855. If i install the KK kdz, will it make the phone rootable again? I read something to do with the boot loader not reverting back to how it was before lollipop

Use this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
(you can flash almost any KK KDZ, v10x of course, but make sure it's for your device)
Root it with your preferred root method (i prefer Purple Drake)
BUMP it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2900614
Now you can flash the bumped roms you'll like. Just make sure, it's for your device.
lg g3 d855 5.0
Had the bumped 5.0 twrp flashed the wrong superSU so went back to stock took the 5.0 OTA update now searching for root solution, tried purple drake no joy puts it in the mode but fails as expected, so i guess i will also wait

Hi guys I have this doubt is not able to find a solution anywhere. I have an LG g3 v20f without root. I read to apply the root must move to a previous version and install a rom bump and Lilliput, the problem is here, not having the root, you can install a modified recovery? If you like? You can unlock the bootloader having v20f without root? Thanks to all
You have to downgrade to Kitkat, then root it and then you will be able to flash recovery.
And how do I move to kitkat? Need a tool?

Hello, I have the T-Mobile LG G3 D851 and I've been trying to find the best configuration. I came from a Nexus 5 that I would either run stock 5.x or CM 12. The CM12 for LG G3 is great but it doesn't have a good camera.
Anyway, I've come to enjoy the stock firmware that LG puts on these phones. So here's what I want to accomplish, however I feel I cannot find enough information to do it confidently.
I would like the have TWRP installed with Stock Lollipop 20b, with root.
Can I just bump a TWRP image and use flashify or something to flash it? or dd?
I installed the 20b KDZ and rooted using the one click method, and that's how my phone sits currently.
From what I understand I need to downgrade to do something with the boot.img so that I can manually flash 20b with a bumped recovery? I'm not sure what bump really is entirely. Do I need to bump all TWRP images that I install? If bump is required for the G3, do they not come pre bumped?
I know that my first go around, I had flashed TWRP with flashify, then installed CM12 without any issues. So I'm wondering if this is just for stock ROMs or did they do something to the boot in 20b that would stop anything from installing without being bump'd?
I also noticed most of the bump'd threads don't list the d851 so I'm wondering if T-Mobile doesn't require this?
Keep in mind I've searched and read extensively and cannot come up with a clear picture of what to do. I've become too used to Nexus devices it seems :-\

D851 has unlocked bootloader. You don't need bump. Just flash twrp via trwo manager or get the inage and use flashify.

Hi ,
I am new here , I have a lg g3 d852 ( Canadian version ) on rogers network. I am currently on the lolipop 5.0.1 and this sucks. The phone lags and the battery drains quick. I was just wondering if I could get some input on how to install a good rom which is stable , no lag and good battery . I dont want to mess up the phone. I guess i need to back up my data first , then root the phone and then install a new rom. I was thinking just to got back to kitkat 4.4 but is there a better rom right now. any suggestions would be great thanks

Yeah okay... So if you want a new ROM proceed with rooting your device, you have plenty of guides around, since you are on lollipop follow with installing benders autorec (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/apk-flash-twrp-autorec-thanks-to-t3081396), flash TWRP with it, flash new ROM.
Or solution two without installing bedners autorec: restore to kitkat via kdz, root, flash bumped twrp for your device.
For custom ROMs I would recommend you Blisspop. UI interracition is flawless, the moment you click something, you get it, no lag.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-blisspop-v2-0-ls990-t3022685
For stock based ROMs I would recommend you Cloudy. It has laggs on UI same as the stock one, but it's debloated and pretty much better then stock one in my experience.

Happy flashing and best of luck. DO backups! Always!

What have you tried already?
I suggest this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951
If you failed with every root method you found here on xda what you could do is revert to older firmware via kdz, which wont be patched and you will be able to root your device.
revert to stock
hi , i dont know what the stock rom was, when i turned on my lg g3 for the first time , just started to update the android software. I was thinking to downgrade to 4.4 kitkat, but dont you have to root the phone to downgrade.
Any links to downgrade from 5.0.1 lollipop to kitkat 4.4 or 4.2. , so from there i would follow the instructions to root the phone . any suggestions would be great thanks

Hello, has passed a lot of time since my last thread. This time, I'm requesting your help about something that every time I read a related thread turns more complicated.
I just want to know if I can flash CyanogenMod 13 or another custom ROM if I have an LG G4 with official Android Marshmallow V20c (not rooted and with locked bootloader, because I don't know if I can take the risk), because I learned how to root and unlock the bootloader, but for example, CM13 needs a V20a stock ROM and when I flashed that version with LGUP I didn't have signal and com.android.process wasn't working.
I hope you can give me a vision, very easy to understand, because the threads are not very explicit.
Thanks and regards!

As simple as possible: no!
With MM and locked BL you can't get root and you can't install any custom Rom.

You don't understand me. I know how to unlock my bootloader and after that root my phone, but I'm not taking the risk because I flashed the V20A stock ROM to install CM13, but I didn't have cellular signal and because that I didn't try to unlock and root my phone.
Maybe this question is more useful: Can I install CM13 when I have a V20C stock ROM and not the V20A one?
Thanks and regards.
You can flash any custom rom if you have unlocked bootloader and custom recovery e.g. TWRP. Without that things you can't flash anything, because custom roms needs unlocked bootloader.

OK, now I understand that I can flash CM13 over V20C and not necessarily over V20A.
Enviado desde mi LG-H815 mediante Tapatalk
You can flash CM13 on any V20... (V10 being LP, V20 MM) as long as you have a MM base you can flash. However, as said above, you MUST unlock bootloader to flash CM, don't try and flash custom ROM without unlocked bootloader. You can unlock bootloader on any version as long as yours is one of the models with the ability.
