Hi there,
It is along time I wrote this but no one has answered.
Is that means there is no answer or what?
With my deep thanx
It's unlikely without an original ROM update by the manufacturer.
However, what model etc is it? Do you have a webpage we can look at to get info about it.

It is like this one
Hi there,
In this website u can c what my Medion it look like.
https://www.medionshop.co.uk/?areaI...000000A00004A410A4F713EAE6B87E10000000A00004B
It runs Windows CE net 4.2 .
With my deep thanx
The King - the website you point to indicates it's running
"Microsoft Windows Mobile(TM) 2003".
Are you sure it's running .net? Could you post a screenshot?
As I said before, it's unlikely to be upgradeable without a full rom update from Medion - my father has a medion GPS PDA, and that's running WM2003. Maybe you could grab a rom from another wm2003 Medion and try patching it together, but unlikely!

the king: I might be missing something, but that points to the same device I think. Still says WM2003.

that is my Pocket PC.
Full GPS Navigation System
Satellite Based Positioning (GPS)
Integrated GPS receiver
SD/MMC card reader
Windows® CE 4.2 (based)
With my deep thanx
all the links show that it's already running 2003
windows CE is just the core OS that WM2003 and 2005 and ... is build on
Windows CE 4.2
What I am talking about has these specifications:
Full GPS Navigation System
Satellite Based Positioning (GPS)
Integrated GPS receiver
SD/MMC card reader
Windows® CE 4.2 (based)
With my deep thanx

rather confused

i'm about to buy a new pda+phone but i have some difficulty in choosing
what device to buy : either QTEK2020i or Qtek9090 .......
the main difficulty is due to the Rom of the 9090 beeing 64Mb while that
of the 2020i beeing stated as 128Mb .
is it possible with both phones to upgrade later to windowsmobile2005 due to the difference of the rom.....?
please help i'm planning to buy the device next week.......
the only info about 2005 on those devices have been from imate who say it will never happen
rom is where the os is and the normal rom cant be used for anything
ram is what you want are you sure you dont mean ram ?
less confused
i'meant that if after all i'll buy the 9090 and if the windowsmobile update will be possible ......
{i will buy the ramcard 512Mb card with the phone {seperately}}
i think the rom carries the operating files or not and the largest the rom the
more the upgrade will be possible or not ?
i'm still using my p900 and don't know much about the qtek ..........
also i want to ask where the windows mobile files are installed on rom or on ram inside the phone ....?
finally i choose 9090
ok then i will buy the qtek9090 this week thanks for your help ....... :?
well roms have to be made specialy for a device so
roms made for the device will always fit the rom size
if devices with more rom size will include more stuff then i guess
that rom size matters
if 2005 will ever come for these device i dont know
but then guess you can live without it if you really need to

Royaltek Empus RTW-1000

Is it possible to upgrade Royaltek Empus RTW-1000 http://www.royaltek.com/index.php/content/view/93/5/ to windows mobile 2005???????????
No.
To be able to update the OS on a Windows Mobile device the OEM must provide a ROM image specific for that device.
Since there is no update offered on the OEM site, we must assume it does not exist.
sorry...double post
Hi I found this official ROM for this device:
http://www.mobiltelefonok.hu/aa/rtw1000_rom_upgrade.html
I searched a little (No actual knowledge and skills in anything that has to do with roms )and it looks like an Eten ROM.Can anyone help with ANYTHING that could give a little update update to this low end device?(WM 2003 Ozone). Even 2003se looks like a big update to me now...

Ipaq 3970 to WM 5.0

Hello,
im an old reader of this form, cause im reading it since 2 years, but never tryed to write something.
Now im really interested in this... the upgrade of an ipaq 3970 to WM 5.0.
I know that noone tryed it, cause i really couldnt find anything on interent. But i found that someone update its ipaq 5450.
So the two has the same hardware i think apart the processor (new version) and the wifi.
So... someone can help me or explain me, cause i really cant get nothing until now.
I tryed with the described method for 5450 to update, but the Hima update tool isnt able to connect to my ipaq.
Every help will be appreciated,
thanks,
Tommaso
i've yet to have confirmed anybody ever porting a rom from one device to anohter even if the hardware was somewhat the same
h5450 to WM5
Could you maybe post some more info - links on this upgrade of h5450 to WM5? I'd like to try it. I've done few attaempts which have failed, btu so have others to upgrading to WM2003. But maybe I'm doing something wrong.
please post more info.
Cheers
Y
Uhm... i dont think that here i can write links or something else about a software that sure is warez.
So u can find it easily on p2p channels, but i dont know really if it works. From what is written yes and i can believe this yes, cause i struggled much and i could update my 3970 bluetooth stack to the very last one stack outta there of Broadcomm and make it work. So i suppose that there arent so much differences from pda to pda.
iPAQ 3970 to WM 5.0
Yes, I'm interested in it too!
Can any one guide me how to do it in kitchen ? !
many thanks!
As a user of Familiar Linux on a few different Ipaq devices I can confirm that the 3900 and 5000 series use the same installation file for installing Linux, so it may be possible to 'cross-flash' both these devices, however as always, make sure you have a good OS restore file available.
Actually perhaps the best way to go would be to use the OHH bootloader used in installing Familiar to save a ROM image file before trying any exotic upgrades, might help in any unbricking that may be necessary if things go wrong....

Newer WinCE on old CE "core version" 2.11 device?

Posting this here because a friend thought one of you knowledgeable CE/WinMo guys might be able to give a hand.
I've got an old MobilePro 780 that I really like the keyboard on, but it's pretty close to useless with the Handheld PC Edition v. 3.01 install that's on there now. If at all possible, I'd like to get a newer version on there - anything at all, really. I've got NetBSD installed on it via a CF card right now, but that's pretty limited due to the device's hardware.
The device has a 182MHz MIPSIII CPU, 32M RAM, and 32M flash. It was made in 2000. Does anyone know if there's been a newer ROM made for this device, or if it would even be possible due to BSP packages not existing for newer CE versions, or some such thing? Here is a review of the device, fwiw.
