rollback from Creator's Update on w10m ? - Windows 10 Mobile

Hi I'm using the HP Elite x3 how can I roll the phone back to a build before creators update, and leave it there? I.e. Stop updates.
Thanks

Flash another w10m version, or use WDRT to get the version your device came by factory(should be 14393 or so) and then disable the service wuauserv(windows updates).
14393.1066 and CU are the best builds in my opinion... If you are having problems with CU, just make a hard reset which will allow you to delete some sysapps at start(to do this enter the store and quicly disable automatic app updates, if you don't disable it, it will update some apps that will block the privilege to uninstall them i.e. outlook) or use interop tools to delete what you don't want. Making the hard reset will leave your device with a fresh CU.

Hi @xxJMarian thanks for the tip, this worked . I used WDRT and got back to the build I want, 10.0.14393.953, this was before CU which took away app corner and social integration. Now I have the build I want and DO NOT want CU.
My phone is on airplane mode until I figure out how to prevent it from updating again:
1. I went into the store and turned off auto updates of apps
2. there is no "phone update" option in background tasks for this build...
what should I do next? I would be happy with the x3 for another year if it doesn't update; willing to miss out on patches and security maintenance.

Get interop tools, do all the proper unlocking and disable the service wuausrv using the registry to stop updates. This will also affect the store, since it uses the windows update service aswell. Once you disable the service it won't search for system updates nor apps. What you can try to do is setting it to manual instead of disabling it so it only triggers when you search for updates instead of automatic. The service registry location is HLKM -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services

[XAP] Internet Sharing + Interop Unlock all-in-one for Samsung Phones

As long as your device is unlocked in some way (Developer/Chevron/Other) you can get internet sharing on your Samsung phone.
IMPORTANT: If you updated to 8107 via Zune you may have also updated your phones firmware. If this is the case you will not be able to use this hack. I would suggest rolling back to 7720/7740 and updating via CAB Sender using the cabs in Heathcliff74's thread.
1.) First install the WP Dev Tools and unlock your Samsung phone.
2.) Use Microsoft's Application Deployment Tool to send THIS (Update 8107 use THIS) to your phone. Don't run it, delete after it has been deployed.
3.) Install the Diagnosis app by typing ##634# on the phone keypad.
4.) After the Diagnosis app starts type *#9908# and select 'System Tweaks' press 'Save' then 'Close' and RESTART your phone.
5.) Your phone now has internet sharing and as a bonus is interop unlocked!
6.) (optional) Press the 'thanks' button at the bottom of this post if it worked for you.
PS: You need to have a recent mango firmware on your phone or your diagnosis app and drivers will not be new enough to work.
EDIT: I built the file depoyer using the tools provided by Heathcliff74 so many thanks to him! Also, ADC is built in to this as well so no need to worry about that. I also upped the max number of connections from 3 to 5 devices.
NOTE: If you have internet sharing turned on (active hotspot) you will not be able to deploy XAP's untill it is turned off. Also, as with any xap, you need to have your screen unlocked to deploy this to your phone.
SECOND NOTE: If you can't get any XAP's to deploy try turning ICS on then off again, it may correct some errors.

Yes this works on the Focus S. You will have to download the wireless manager from the samsung section of the marketplace so you can get your 4G back after doing the interop unlock.

What I thought was, maybe there's a problem in deploying the interop XAP, since I was using PHONE7MARKET to deploy the app. I launched again with Microsoft's XAP deployment tool, and it worked this time.

I found the fix for the 8107 update, the following registry tweak needs to be made:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\ICS]
"UserProcGroup"=dword:32
Set the "UserProcGroup" value from "32" to "5" will make IS work fine. Don't forget to reboot your phone.

It looks like I might have found a solution to my problem. I went back and reinstalled the xap for this hack which did create the missing registry entries. However I was still having the data problem. So I starting thinking about how my phone is different from most of the people using this hack and thought to turn off sim security. That seems to have done the trick. I am guessing that with sim security turned on ADC is not doing what its supposed to because the sim card is locked until the OS has fully booted and I put in my pin to unlock it. Since I really dont know what ADC does this is just a guess however I have only had a few minor data issues since turning sim security off. Anyone else out there having data issues should give this a try and let us know if it helps out.

Anyone with data issues try:
Diagnosis > *#32489# > Back > Back (to Phone Control) > [7] Network Control > [1] GFC > [3] Setting Cancellation
Wait for it to say success, then reboot. This fixed all my data connection issues after applying this patch.

Nice work! Good idea to combine the ProvXMLs and include re-running AutoDataConfig.
Works Smoothly. Tested with Samsung Focus 1.3 Mango

If your device is already interop unlocked it will stay that way and no harm will come to you
Awesome, it worked perfectly!
Just wanted to update that one of the forum members found that if one has kept Internet Sharing On and try to deploy XAP file it fails. Read it here
One should turn it off and then deploy XAP files.

You actually don't have the newest firmware. After the Mango update you should get one more update that is a Samsung update for your drivers and it also includes a new diagnosis app. If you don't get this update notification when you connect to Zune you can try sending THIS update package to your phone to get the newest diagnosis app but this is at your own risk and I don't know that internet sharing will work without the newest Samsung driver update.
lol, i did actually have the new firmware, what actually happen, the mango update alone with the new samsung drivers didnt update my old diagnostic app, so all I had to do is uninstall the old diagnostic from my phone, then re type in the ##634# code to reload it and bam Diagnostic ver .0103 was now there. Your suggested helped me figured that out, thanks again.. It now works
any idea whether the new "extra settings" on the Smasung Omnia can be found this way , its gotta be somewhere close , doesnt have to actually even be on the older phones , but I assume with the new firmware it was added , I dont know if the firmware is the same for the newer devices , Samsung deliberately deleted us 1st generation phone users from the newer software for some reason , others have proven its capable of using it
Two things you should know:
- deploying xaps just works if the screen is unlocked!
- internet doesn work on the phone after the xap has been deployed - but there is a solution:
---
I saw "internet connection sharing" in the settings but couldn't enable it because my phone didn't have a internet connection itself.
So don't forget you have to repair your internet settings on the phone! Samsung's official "Netzprofil" app ("network profiles" in english?) did the job for me. I changed to an other operator, afterwards changed again to the correct one and rebooted the phone...

ADC is built in. You have to restart like it says in the directions... So no you don't have to repair your internet settings all you have to do is read the directions. Also the screen has to be unlocked to deploy ANY xap that's just how it is.

Sorry - didn't work for me. After clicking "save" i waited another 10 seconds, clicked "Exit", closed (back button) the diagnosis app and rebooted the phone.
Rebooting means that i switched it off and/but it turned on again automatically because I didn't remove the USB cable...
The screen unlocking hint was just to help unexperienced users (like me). The App Deployment tool just gives an error number if you forget to unlock...
I don't think my post was completely senseless (thinking of users being new to the topic) but...sry for the noise

What phone do you have? Is it a 1st gen phone or 2nd? ADC 'should' fix the internet issues. I don't know why it wouldn't for you.
Can this save you from having to pay extra for Internet sharing if you purchased a Focus S? Or will you still have to call and have it provisioned through att? Thanks.

Yes, if you use this it will get rid of the message that pops up telling you you need a new plan for it. I just tried it on my Focus S. However I would be cautious though, I used to tether my Focus all the time and AT&T caught on and now if I tether at all again they will automatically switch me to a more expensive 4GB tethering plan from my unlimited plan.
And thank you OP, I interop-unlocked my Focus S and it has been a pain getting getting my AT&T settings configured again. I tried all the methods from the interop-unlock guide, with the exception of SIM unlocking my phone and using the Network Profiler app, and none of them would work. I also tried editing the APN but that doesn't give you options for MMS. This xap was the only way I was able to edit RunADC successfully and now everything is perfect. Thanks a lot!

Stop LG/Tmobile system update?

I am running skydragon rom and unfortunately my phone downloaded an LG system update. I did not install it, but i do want to delete it and remove the reminder... Plus it's stopping me from installing some of the LG apps that have been removed...
How can this be accomplished. Thanks.
Wow.. Anybody.
I'm not sure on the location of the update, but for me, I just pulled down the notification panel, long pressed the Update notification, clicked on App Info, then unchecked notifications, clicked ok to confirm, then checked it back on.
That removed the persistent notification for the T-Mobile system update, hasn't shown up since in about 3 days time.
I tried that... It worked for a few hours then it came back.
You can always leave it unchecked, but I'm not sure what other apps use Play Services for their updates or other.
That's my worry. I think a lot of other apps use play services.

Apparently many people have said that you can disable the updates by getting into the hidden menu by typing this in the dialer: 3845#*851#
Click on WLAN Test
Go to OTA
Disable
Unfortunately this didn't work for me. I hope it works for you. I accidentally downloaded the LG update as well, but for some reason the update notification is still there. super annoying!

If your rooted, you can use a root explorer and delete the update.zip file in the /cache folder. That will take care of any auto update when you reboot your phone.
Since I'm running stock, I also froze the following apps with Titanium Backup:
App Updates 4.20.100
ConfigUpdater 4.4.2-940549
LGSetupWizard 4.3.020
Update Center 4.20.100
I get a notice once in a while when I go to wifi, but I noticed that the update is no longer downloaded to the /cache folder after freezing the apps above.

Ativ SE - Windows 10 Mobile - Windows Insider working without hacks!

I was informed I should also post this here as I made a post on Reddit about this find and wanted to share it with others. I have an Ativ SE and we all know as of recently it was not able to get Windows 10 Mobile via Inside without registry hacks to fingerprint the phone as the Lumia Icon.
During my endeavors I was able to get W10M on the phone and up until recently had held off doing a factory reset as the original thread states not to without losing core apps. Well after the .71 update I had to factory reset the phone but it did not lose any core apps. So that was a plus however I did lose my registry hacks *expected* obviously. I tried to re add this via the Root registry tool but never had any luck however something happened today that really made me happy. I received an update for the Insider app and had the option to select "Production" as an option. After selecting I was immediately given the option for .107 update.
This is not an option apparently if you are already on 8.1 however so I believe you must be on W10M. This has been tested to work even after factory resets just resign up as normal.
http://imgur.com/a/R7HoR - Screenshots
On a side note. I am not 100% positive if you need developer mode enabled however if the option is not there enable it.
I don't think it's possible to get wm10 without OEM update. Aaaaand I don't think SE will get wm10 from 8.1 via Insider. It looks like "Production" ring is available on any wm10 phone.
IMHO

It may be an option on any phone for what its worth after the factory reset you lose your registry hacks that gets you in the fast ring regardless. So having production ring available is nice, it means factory resetting the phone is no longer an issue.

This is true, but it does open some things up. If we could get our hands on an 8.1 rom (opposed to the 8.0 gdr3 that's available for this phone), a rom could be made for users to easily upgrade to 10. I'm looking into a solution with your tools. For example, you can make another version of your 8.1.1 rom for the Ativ S that has DeviceTargetingInfo configured as a Lumia, then the user only needs to install Windows Insider to update to 10, hard reset, install Windows Insider and set it for Production. This way, users can get to wm10 without needing to interop unlock.
You can also now get the 8.1 -> 10 upgrade without needing to hard reset. Just make the mods to change the mfg/model name in the registry and let things update as normal. I did this myself. The bonus here is that my registry edits were preserved through the update, so my wireless tethering support stayed.

Anyone knows how to stop automatic updates on win10 mobile to stay on build 1607 ?

I have a 640xl and the phone is really bad on the creator's update due to too many bugs. I want to remain on the anniversary update build 1607 which was perfect. anyone knows of a registry hack to do so ?
You could change the device details in registry tree HKLM – SYSTEM – PLATFORM -DeviceTargetingInfo to
any model with dual sim which will stay on 1607. I guess Lumia 735 should work.
Back up your details though, in case you want to change back.

Now it shows only updates on the anniversary update branch

Both of which you mentioned don't stop it completely. I need to do it at a package level and I need to find someone who knows what packages they are. Thank you for your help though
There are two packages for the Software-Update:
com.wssyncmidm
com.samsung.app.fotaclient
If the update is already downloaded you will have to wipe the /cache-partition in the recovery as soon as possible. Before that turn off the Auto-Update in the Developer-Options
