Vibe P1C72 not recognized on USB - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

Hi !
I have a problem with my P1C72, when I plug it to any computer, it is not recognized as a usb device : in Windows it appears as an unknown device, with a code 43 error, and no hardware identification number (shown as USB\UNKNOWN, no VID or PID)
It does this either in recovery, fastboot or normal use.
It charges alright though
At first I thought it was the USB board, so I ordered a new one, and changed it, but the problem stays the same.
So I am wondering, could it be software related ? Some configuration file that got screwed somewhere ?
Or is the USB controler located elsewhere than on the board with the micro USB port ?
Does someone has an idea ?

Thank you rajivshahi for your answer and attention.
I had try all the methods that I find in hole of internet!!
also I tried your suggstted method. I was connect my phone with ans without SIM and memory to each USB port of my (and another) PCs, I changed my USB cable for several times, I also tried Uni_bootloader program and MTTY but they didn't work (because there is no USB connetion with my UNI and my PC)
I just keep crying!!!!!!
Have you tested doing Doc format?
Hope it helps,
If the device is not recognised by PC at the same time as Serial not changing to USB, I would think your USB port is no longer attached as it should and can cause the problem you described. From time to time USB port might still feel and look secure on mainboard, it will even charge the device, however, when it comes to AS and USB connection to PC, it will not connect properly.
That, or your PC USB or motherboard are malfunctioning. Try other USB devices in the same ports.
My PC's USB ports are work properly because as you told enigma1nz, I had test them with another devices
For the DOC format method: there is no USB port for connecting with MTTY!
Soooooo amazing!
(thanks for all your answers)
So, it means there is no way for me
hey,
have you disabled (unckeck) USB connection for ActiveSync/WMDC at PC?
do it now or USB port will not be available for mtty.
also please make sure that you installed XP sync driver under vista incase you're trying from vista.
follow the same -
1. unckeck USB connection for as/wmdc at pc
2. reset the device by pressing reset button
3. set bl mode (if not there already)
4. connect usb cable
5. start mtty ...
Hi Tomal, first I have to say: Thank you for your amazing roms. they are so fast, nice and stable. I'm one of the biiiig fan of your roms.
seconed: yes I was disabled the USB connection and also kill ir from task manager. but my Uni is still deeaaaaaaad
somehow I have a feeling that something is wrong with the usb port in device. may be connection is broken or something...
Hi everyone,
finally I had to send my Universal to doctor! , he says that I can load your device from SD card, and boot up it, (flashing card)
!!
I was wondered! what is flashing card! (load from SD card without any PC!)
Do any one have some information about this method!!!!

Yep, it does look like your device's USB being a culprit.

Version number KOT49H.N5100XXDNH3 IMEI NULL.
my problem is
- i can't connect my note to computer, when i connect the handheld the battery shows red X cross and it wouldnt detect neither wont charging.
- but when the device charged via ac adapter it work fine.
- the device wont recognice sim celluler card "mobile network not available"
nb: all feature and function works fine inclde wifi, bluetooth, etc. (the error just gsm function and connection usb mode with PC)
i have tried this some work but couldnt solved my problem yet.
- i cant rooted my device via odin caused by the device won't detect any usb to my pc. (normal mode or download mode)
- i tried to restore efs by efspro software but not working caused by the device won't detect any usb to my pc.

what i havent try is restoring my efs file with flasher tools like octoplus box. because i dong have that tools. and i think its too expensive to solving my problem of one device with buying flashing tools investment.

Are you using two different cables in testing or are you just moving the charging cable from the adapter? I found uninstalling the windows usb driver and rebooting to reinstall may help detect the device. Some usb ports dont have 500ma output for charging or change to a different port if available. Changing the connection type on the usb status icon to reset and set the type of connection may trigger the usb driver to connect. I think for the most part your windows driver is failing to initiaize and detect your device. Trouble is getting it to reset cleanly and install properly.
Once the device becomes detected, you can perform the steps to restore your device in order to use a sim card.

Thanks for your response,
About the cable is fine to apply for any gadget, but won't work on my Galaxy Note. I have repaired it at unofficial service center and they said there is no problem with the cable nor the usb port
And still, they don't know yet where the trouble is.
is there any possibilities to fix my Galaxy Note in this case? Thank You

Dead USB or?..

Having this odd problem here... anyone experienced anything of the kind? Scenario below:
- given: Zenfone 2/64G, purchased less than a year ago, unrooted, bootloader still locked AFAICT (tried running ASUS official tool, it failed), up-to-date with OTAs, USB debugging on, MTP enabled
- problem: phone works perfectly fine, charges from wall and any computer port, but will NOT connect to a computer over USB
- tried: different cables, including original
- tried: different OS (OSX, Win 8.1, Linux) - under Linux, the device won't even show with `lsusb`
- test: just had a chance to try another phone just like mine on my Win 8.1 - instantly connected and recognized, so both computer/drivers and cable are guaranteed good. the problem is therefore with the phone itself, either hardware or software.
any thoughts? should I just contact ASUS for a replacement, or is there something I might be missing in my settings?
Thanks for whatever tips and apologies if I missed a relevant discussion.

Need a help flashing stock ROM

Hi, I got this bugger for way too big price (40 bucks for non-working piece of garbage), but I needed it because nobody helped me with reflashing original Nexus 7 I botched up while flashing (can't even get to fastboot mode).
I need to resurrect it from death. Apparently, somebody was tinkering inside, one antenne lead is broken, USB port seems replaced with very wrong one (it fits, it sits, but clearly it is not original) and the main, biggest problem is that the OS is corrupted.
All I keep getting is Google logo, can't boot into normal mode, can't boot into recovery mode. Can get to fastboot interface though. But there is one problem - the USB debugging was never activated, so when I plug it into computer in fastboot mode, all I get is "Unknown USB device (device descriptor request failed)". When I try to manually install Universal Naked Driver, it keeps *****ing about wrong driver version or not compatible hardware. What I have to do to get it working except sending it to Asus and pay 5 times the tablet's price to get it fixed?
It was going to be replacement for that botched Nexus 7, but now it seems that it will cost way more...
Have you not tried the Nexus Root Toolkit by Wugfresh? I reckon you should give it a try good luck.
Yeah, that came around my mind too, but there is one problem. USB debugging was never turned on and now when I plug in the tablet, it shows in device manager as Unknown USB device (device descriptor request failed). And because there is no working communication (it doesn't show up as tablet), I cannot ADB DEVICES it, returns me empty list.

USB debugging on/off is relevant only in ADB mode and has no impact whatsoever in fastboot mode. Please boot it in fastboot mode, connect to PC and quote USB device descriptor number from device manager.
If it is 18D1:4EE0 then you have to resolve driver issues on your PC
If it is 0000:000x then you have to fix hardware problem in your Nexus
I posted more info in this and this thread.
USB Device Tree Viewer shows it as vid_0000&pid_0002, so there is hardware problem with the tablet.
So, if I understand it correctly, it can be caused either by badly seated cable or bad USB port. Sice the one that is there is clearly changed for the wrong one, I will try to order proper one and see what will it do.
By the way, I already tried to reseat the ribbon cable, no luck there.

LG G7 EMW (Brazil - Claro) USB does not work, but charging and EDL mode do

Hi all.
I have a wonderful LG G7 (model G710EMW from Brazil carrier Claro).
Recently I've tried to connect it to my new car audio system that supports Android Auto and it didn't work as expected. Long story short, I've discovered that USB does not work on my phone.
Charging works alright, but anything that requires an USB connection simply does not work.
When I connect my phone to my PC, the phone starts charging, never shows the "USB connection" notification icon and the PC does not recognize anything. The phone also does not allow me to choose the kind of USB connection that is to be used (you know, MTP and the other options). When connected to PC through USB cable it displays exactly the same behaviour as if it was connected to a regular charger.
I have tried different cables, being two LG original USB-C to USB-A cables, an USB-C to USB-A from Xiaomi and a generic brand USB-C to USB-A charging and data cable. All of them show the same behaviour.
I did soft reset my phone, thinking maybe some app I downloaded could be interfering, but it also did not change anything. Also hard-reset, but no change either.
I've already tried replacing the circuit board with the USB plug but that also didn't change anything.
The only time USB works is in EDL mode, which shows expected behaviour. PC recognizes the "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3)" port and with QFIL I can navigate through partitions and stuff seems to work.
I would try installing a different ROM, but as I would need to cross-flash to unlock bootloader (default ROM does not enter fastboot) I am stuck on the USB issue now.
Has anyone seen something like this? Any suggestions to what I could try?

Hi bro, i'm from brazil too, have you tried reinstall usb drivers? have you tried on another pc? If you are using Windows 10, check on Windows update if its not blocking the drivers

I did try on another two different computers, all on Windows 10, and none of them recognized the phone except when the phone was in EDL mode.
I haven't tried installing drivers for the phone, before when it worked I never had to manually install anything for the PC to recognize my phone.
I'll give that a go, thanks!

Just to let you know, I could not find the USB driver for regular usage of the phone connected to the PC. What I found was drivers to use the phone with ADB and drivers for EDL mode.
I got to test the phone on a Linux Manjaro installation and there the computer also did not recognize any new device with "lsusb" command, whereas using a working LG G7 ThinQ the output of "lsusb" was:
Code:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1004:61f9 LG Electronics, Inc. Optimus (Various Models) MTP Mode
Note: the working phone had the USB connectivity option set to "Charge only" (or something like that, my phone is in Portuguese).
