New "upgraded" screen replacement - LeEco Le Pro3 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey all!
I recently cracked my screen and needed to replace it. Instead of purchasing another gold screen, I decided to purchase the black "AI" edition screen hoping it would work. For those that don't know, LeEco release and AI version of the Pro 3 that has dual rear camera and some extra "smart" software. I guess it's their version of bixbie. Although the screen is very similar and offers the same resolution, the AI screen offers better brightness and color gamut. I can definitely tell the difference and this screen looks like better quality. Not to mention, the black screen looks way better in my opinion. The hardware buttons work, but it looks like the LED is out on the right side... oh well. The home button is also a circle instead of a stupid leeco logo.

That's strange!
First of all this link belongs to standard Le Pro3 screen not the AI edition.
Secondly the AI edition has Le logo as home button too. in addition the AI edition has different dimension than standard eddition; So technically the AI display should not fit the standard eddition body

Hmmm. Well than I have no idea where this screen is from. I assumed it was the AI screen because as far as I'm aware, the AI version is the only version that comes in Black. I'm liking the screen though!

My phone fell out of my pocket onto some concrete over the weekend, and I've already heard back from LeEco support that it's not covered under warranty, nor do they offer screen replacement for payment. I went ahead and ordered this screen from Ali Express after reading your post, so I'm hopeful that I can fix it myself for far less than a 3rd party service center would charge. Can you tell me, though, does the screen come with instructions on how to disassemble the device and install the new screen, or do I need to scour YouTube to find an instructional video? Thanks in advance.

It's pretty easy, but you may need some tools. You can follow this guide: http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/leeco-le-pro-3-teardown/
You can use a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun. I would suggest a suction cup, but you may be able to get away without one: https://www.amazon.com/Disassembly-Suction-Repair-Screen-Opening/dp/B015T58AUW/
And finally, you will need some double sided tape to replace the tape that was on the original screen. Sometimes you can remove the cracked screen without removing the tape, but that is very hard to do. Best thing to do is just apply new tape: https://www.amazon.com/Eco-Fused-Adhesive-Sticker-Phone-Repair/dp/B00BXYWXY8/

Thank you very much!

There are 9 different color variations.
Though my phone is in perfect shape, this is tempting. Better quality screen with 9 different front color? I may get one just for the sake of it.

As always, it got confusing.
There are 'original' and 'add glassfilm' per each color. I assumed add-glassfilm are the ones with removable protective film. But add-glassfim ones are cheaper than original ones. It should be opposite if my assumption is correct.
Also the cable color thing. Linked seller says they are compatible while other sellers say the opposite.

Contacted seller for clarification on 'add glass...' listings and below is the answer:
"friend, original item is original and best quality. other opotion ,force gold Add Glass: it is OEM products, not original item."
Since OP got a black one which does not offer add-glass option, I assume he's got the original one. However, it does not have LeEco logo button which should indicate he's got the OEM one.
Just another Aliexpress confusion as always.

Hmmm. I'm not sure. I think my black one came with a black cable and it works fine. My screen also came with the glass protector even though the item I bought did not say it would come with one. I think he has the listings reversed.

Yes, I got the black original one. Came with a glass protector. Same glass protector that is shipped with the phone. Keep in mind that I originally thought this was the "AI" screen, but a user corrected me on that statement. I have no idea where this screen came from or the specifications of it. I think is is a better quality screen than what was shipped with my phone, but it could just be placebo.

i think the black display comes from cool changer S1, which is very similar to the le pro 3 and has a circle in the home button.

Where did you see it?
They are same size, same color, same home button and same conectors.
So i think this is the coolpad display, there is no black model in le pro 3 catalogue.

Still thiniking the same its a coolpad s1 display.
Width may be differente because of the body design.
It is logical. If you make 2 very similar hardware phones is better for you if they have a lot of common parts.
And in aliexpress i was watching both photos and looks they have same numbers in the back, they look just the same display.
This is le pro 3 display:
And this the coolpad s1 one.
Sorry for my bad english...

FWIW, I ordered a gold screen (the OEM "add glass" version) from the same AliExpress seller as OP, and it just arrived (almost a month after I ordered it) today. I haven't tried installing it yet, but it looks legit, and also came with the glass screen protector, tools, and a suction cup. Hopefully, installation good smoothly tomorrow, and I can stop being annoyed by the cracks on my screen every time I look at my phone!

[Q] Yellow Tint ?

I just received my LG G Pad 8.3 from Newegg last night. So far, it's been a great experience. Looks good. I bought a Tab 3 8.0 during a sale at Staples last week, but when I saw the Cyber Monday deal on new egg, I jumped on it.
My question is this : After running a few processor oriented programs ( Antutu stability, etc ) , when I open up a browser tab ( white background or something similar ) I notice a yellow thin line (not a single line, however.. its a little thick) at the top end of the screen ( towards the front camera ). It is much more visible when I use the tablet in landscape mode ( when the screen rotates - and the tint shows up on the left hand side of the tablet ).
Is this normal? I can feel the heat under the screen (it is warm under the tint area) but, the tint is visible and its noticeably yellow. I do not see the blue line as some of you have mentioned on the forums.
I am not sure if this is much of an issue, to require a return. But, I just want to make sure I don't have a tablet which has a screen issue. I noticed it last night while using it after an hour of use, so I think it's visible for the most part (because someone else did not mention it to me )
Does anybody else have this issue ?
Also, compared to the Tab 3 screen, the screen has almost a 30% decrease in brightness. E.g The tab 3 at 50% is equal to the screen brightness of the LG pad at 80%. Lastly, the screen does seem to be pretty warm (color K) in comparison to the Tab 3. I don't know if that is necessarily a bad thing, but I did notice that while doing a side by side comparison of the two tablets.
Any info on the above issue would be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, due to my account being new, xda does not allow me to upload links or images. I've searched around the internet and I've read a couple of posts where people say that once the adhesive or "some other material " eases out on the screen, the tint slowly goes away (possibly a week or so) It is noticeably yellowish (color wise) in comparison to my Galaxy Tab 3. I'll keep on using it for the next week or so and see if the problem persists or declines.
I'll post pictures once my account reaches the link-free level. :good:

I don't see it either.
RMA'ed the device through NewEgg for a replacement. The screen looked very yellowish in comparison to some review videos (posted on youtube). In addition, I wasn't able to ignore the yellow line on the screen while viewing it on white backgrounds.
I'm disappointed with the brightness and color reproduction compared to my Tab 3 8.0, but since I paid a fair price for it (249),I'm keeping the device. I'm hoping the replacement device will be better than the first unit I received through NewEgg. I've read several varying posts on the screen. It seems to me that there are units with an overall yellowish tint on them, whereas others do not have this issue. My desktop monitor (HP zr24w) has pretty good color reproduction, and in comparing my unit to the unit being reviewed on screen, my device had a much much warmer screen overall.
It was very similar to running Flux on my desktop at 3800k. None of the reviews not mention anything about the screen being so warm. Once I receive a replacement, I'll update the thread. If the problem is isolated to certain devices, I'd advise a replacement or return.
Looks like I have the same problem with my G Pad. I have a yellow patch at the top left of the screen and bottom right also.
Seems to come and go depending on usage, so I assume it's heat related?

I don't have a problem with patches, but the colour accuracy of the display is terrible. Here is my G Pad at full brightness vs my full gamut RGB backlit IPS display at 80% brightness....

The photo makes things look vastly worse than the way the human eye perceives the difference, but there is no denying that the cast is significant.

I only had a quick glance at this thread but I too get a yellow tint in the top part of the screen when the tab gets a bit warmer.
Within ten minutes of watching full hd mkv the brightness also throttles down.

Appears to be quite a common issue. Returned my 4th lg pad today for this reason.
Will be gunning for the sammy 8.4...
Great idea by LG, very poor execution
4th one?????
That's just crazy and a shame because else the tab is really nice.
Ok...
I think the "yellow tint" may have something to do with the adhesive. Quite sure the Display is glued to the digitizer. I had may tab on and stressed for a few hours. You can see the discoloration on almost any background. Even black, just couldn't capture it in a photo.
Has anyone had the tint go away after some time?
This is the same tab after sitting in the fridge for around 5 minutes...
I would hence say it is a hardware issue and not software or kernel related as some suggest.

In your experience, does it go away with time?
I really loved the tab save for that bit...But if it stays like that forever, well...
It definately seems temperature related. As soon as the tab gets warmer the blotch/tint appears. When the tab cools down it goes away.
I don't know if it is some residual adhesive that has not dried/hardened out during manufacturing.
I still have a few days where I can just give it back, so I will be looking into it.

Such a beautiful device giving us so many problems...4 LGs. I don't think I have it in me to go for a 5th one..
Such a nice tab ruined by the screen. Never ever LG again. Unfortunately bought of private seller who didn't keep receipt (new and sealed) and lg doesn't stand behind their product.
From my experience: HTC - yes, Apple - yes, Samsung - yes, LG - warranty not transferable.
Avoid like a plague.

There is somebody working on that fix for your version now. Probably know something more in a week or so.
That would be nice but still won't be buying LG product again if they don't change their policy of transferring warranty to another end - user as other companies does.
As it looks like a batch of defective units they should respect warranty repair of product that has just been introduced and is well within 2 years warranty

[SPECS] Asus ZenWatch Specifications - Members Thoughts

Hey all
Asus has thrown their hand to the Smartwatch market. This Android Wear device features a curved display similar to that of the Gear S, the specs are not far off either. Its a nice looking watch with a leather strap that is certainly an improvement over some of the plastic straps we've see on some smartwatches. I like this smartwatch better than others, it has nice leather strap, sleek design, curved screen. Only thing that concerns most about these smartwatches is the battery backup , how about these manufacturers implement additional battery in the strap, or some technology which will empower watches using body heat, wrist movement, sunlight etc.
My concern is that is not edge to edge. There is black borders around the display. Will only black watch faces look good then? What do you think?
Skickat från min Nexus 7 via Tapatalk
Personally, I'm considering this over the Moto 360 due to a better fit with Android Wear / Google Now cards and other info. Half of my watches are square anyway so roundness holds no inherent superiority for me.
From a specs perspective though, the review on pocket-lint has this to say:
Unnoticeable to a passing glance, the base of the black frame surrounding the screen allows you to check your heart rate by simply loading the app and then placing your finger on the watch. Seconds later (15 to be precise) the watch delivers your stats for you to see how you're doing.
The nearest experience we can relate it to, is Apple's TouchID Home button on the iPhone 5S. The bio sensor works really well in the ZenWatch.
This is maybe worse than other Android Wear solutions that have the HR sensor on the back bezel against your wrist. But I've heard you basically have to stop and stand still for it to work anyway.
Also IP55 is a bummer...dust tight (not proof) and water resistant to splashing, not sprays, and def not immersion. Moto is what, IP67?
Battery is 369 mah which puts it in the middle of various watches. Screen is AMOLED so that should be helpful if you like dark faces (which I do).
As far as I can tell, there's no always on mode, unless that's part of Android Wear?

Very wrong, I have a galaxy gear 2, gear live, and a gear S.... All of which have ambambient light sensors and tThe gear S even had a UV sensor on top of that to determine if the UV rays at any given time could be dangerous. Anyone that thinks different try to explain the auto brightness adjustment of the display. And you don't believe the UV sensor just say it and I'll post some pics of it in action. I got my Asus zenwatch on order and will be arriving on the 18th but ican't imagine it wouldn't have alight sensor.

Yes there is an always on option in android wear and even a never dim option while charging in the un-lockable developer options. The Qualcomm TOQ had abattery in the band's clap on the under side and it was horrible, I only kept that watch for a week, not being able to change the band's on the bulkiest watch there is was adeal breaker, still was cool for being one of the first ones out though and the charging set up for that was the best I've seen to date, wireless charging with a sleek little case that holds blue tooth headsets and when you push a button the charging pad slowly would raise to a avertical position to accommodate for setting the watch up against it. Very well thought out.... And no screen yet can compare being that they look better in direct sun light than they do in the dark, wish there was a happy medium there.

Anyone that thinks different try to explain the auto brightness adjustment of the display. And you don't believe the UV sensor just say it and I'll post some pics of it in action. I got my Asus zenwatch on order and will be arriving on the 18th but ican't imagine it wouldn't have alight sensor.

True, sorry I do always forget about all the Samsung range as they aren't all android wear but I take your point.
The way the screen cover to silent function works on my LG G watch R I believe is through multitouch with the palm of your hand rather than any sensors as there aren't any on the watch. Maybe the Asus does the same
App support?
Does anyone knows if Asus has an Android app to compliment the watch (Like the Moto360)? I just returned my Moto to Costco (Yes they have crap load in stock) because I saw the Zen online......
The Moto actually is alright as the battery last all day (after you do a couple of cycle thru when first charged). The Zen watch to be looks more elegant and has some nifty features.

They do and I believe it is called "ASUS ZenWatch Manager", you should be able to find it in the play store.
No WiFi, no GPS, and only IP55 (i.e. unusable for snorkeling) makes this one a loser in my opinion. Plus, heart rate monitor, aside from being a mere gimmick, will most likely be buggy, hence unusable.

Mars (champagne gold) back cover real photos released: delicate CNC cutting, Anodizing and sand blasting process
Not long before, vernee official published a set of photos of Mars’ arc antenna band. This technology has high requirements towards the process of the metal cover and adjustment of antenna signal. As a result, only several models so far has adopted this design. But it is real innovation. Even Apple seems to include the arc antenna band into its coming iPhone 7, to make the whole device more graceful.
Today, Vernee official released another set of real photos of Mars’ metal back (champagne gold version)prototype. From the photos, we can see that the antenna band fits the metal frame pretty well as if they were a unified entity.
3D polishing treatment on the edge of the metal frame
Mars has relatively smaller overall size with slim and thin body, suitable for single handling.
I would say a design fault right of the plate with prototype you have their is position of light and also camera. Move them more centered. Reason if you have a side on impact or dropping on phone will lead to it easily being damaged. Maybe in idea for you guys is to have a protective lens cover on phone just like the old sony k850 has totally protecting it and embedded so if it does get hit only cracking glass.
Or even better like the c905
One thing that should really come back in phones is the old style Xenon flash with LED and also have a back light option. Just some ideas to throw your way

probably you are right.. but now, with less than 8mm of thickness, is almost impossible to emboss camera glass ..
The camera position is in my opinion good as other competitors are doing..
News from Vernee about Mars
Without fear for iPhone 7, vernee begins the presale of Mars with $50 discount
Lately vernee released the breaking news that Mars, its third model, will come with 2 variants. Previously leaked model supposed to carry Helio P20 and 6GB will become Vernee Mars Pro. And it will be released in December with the tentative price of $349.99. However Vernee Mars Pro looks almost the same with Vernee Mars in terms of appearance.
As the normal version, Vernee Mars will carry Helio P10(MT6755) chipset and come with 4GB RAM. Without any fear of the pressure from iPhone 7, vernee will also bring Mars to the market and starts the shipment in September.
Vernee Mars adopts an arc antenna band similar to that of iPhone 7. And its metal back cover also features the same anodizing process of iPhone 7. Thanks to the fine polishing process and delicate color arrangement, Mars looks pretty gorgeous. Finely ground sides and corners also improve Mars’ handling experience to a great degree.
Due to the CNC Nano Injection Molding process, Mars has over 98% metal coverage on the back. It is a truly all metal smartphone.
Different from iPhone 7’s total arc design, vernee Mars adopts another great solution. This difference shows vernee’s unique insights towards the user experience.
Vernee Mars has 5.5 inch display with 1mm super thin bezel. The screen-to-body ratio is nearly 80%. With the dimension of 151.6*73*7.6mm, Mars has relatively slim body, which is almost the same size of many 5 inch smartphones nowadays.
The main specs of Vernee Mars are as follows:
CPU: MT6755, Helio P10
Display: 5.5 inch FHD, In-Cell
RAM: 4GB LCDDR 3
ROM: 32GB eMMC 5.0
Rear camera: 13.0 MP SONY IMX258, PDAF, F/2.0
Front camera: 5.0 MP Samsung S5K5E2
Battery: 3000mAH Li-polymer
OS: Stock Android 6.0
Size: 151.6*73*7.6mm
Vernee Mars is priced at $249.99. And the presale has already started with exclusive $50 discount during the period.
1. You can directly purchase Vernee Mars with $50 discount on specific shops by using the exclusive coupon code “vernee8Mars” :
you can visit www.vernee.cc to apply for $50 coupon code anytime you want.
To be honest if I had the funds Id come out with my own phone as have a lot of ideas for a phone regardless of how thin or think it is. Being thin is not everything.
Mars will come soon..
First 3D rendering from Vernee:
Il Mars si mostra nel primo rendering 3D pubblicato da Vernee:
CPU: MT6755, Helio P10 Display: 5.5 inch FHD, In-Cell RAM: 4GB LGDDR 3

And Vernee just released a close-up video of Mars (not just a rendering.. but real device now!)
Vernee Mars could the world's most narrow 5.5 inch smartphone !
Since Samsung took the lead in manufacturing big-screen smartphones, more and more smartphone makers started to enlarge the screen size of their products.
Nowadays, most smartphones are sized between 5.0 to 6.0 inches, and 5.5 inch smartphones are the majority.
Large-size screen brings better displaying effects of the multimedia contents.
Meanwhile, with bigger screens, people can manage more things, which increases the diversified demands of people towards smartphones.
However, every coin has two sides. Even though large size screen brings so much convenience, it confronts us with the problem of awful single-handed operation.
With the development of smartphones, we want our smartphones thinner, lighter and more powerful.
But due to the restrictions of current technology, we can do very little to improve the status quo. That’s why not many smartphone makers focus their attention on the aspect.
It’s always vernee’s insistence to improve the user experience on the details.
Below comparison will give you some insights of how good the design is.
To bring better single hand experience, we make the body of Mars more compact, with the dimensions of 151.6*73*7.6mm.

Gearbest.
Daily use is very good, no lags, all operations are smooth.
The only "issue" is related to fingerprint, not very accurate even if i store up to 5 times my fingers in the available slots.
Btw, battery seems to be astounding, more than 8 hours of Screen On Time [emoji33] mixed use wifi and 4g, with automatic brightness (no localization and no wifi search in background).
Now i'm checking battery capacity with USB amperemether..
Stay tuned

Screen brightness - NITS - Sunlight readability *** UPDATED ***

EDIT #2 10/18/2016:
Initial tests aren't looking terrible but aren't great either.
No mention of reflectivity that I've seen yet. This is the other important factor we need to look for.

Brightness, however, is more middle-of-the-road, and more than once we found ourselves wishing we could crank the display up brighter while out in early afternoon sunlight – the Pixel XL is still visible enough, but a slightly brighter screen would sure help with usability.

The quad HD Super AMOLED display on the Pixel XL is gorgeous. Google claims its wide color gamut covers 91 percent of the Adobe RGB color range, and you can really see the richness of colors. It’s bright and easy to see outdoors, though it doesn’t get quite as crazy-bright in direct sunlight as the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.

We recorded the Pixel XL's max brightness at 393 nits, which is a good deal less than the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (530 nits), though still better than some other Android flagships including the HTC 10 (371 nits) and LG G5 (354 nits).

Maximum brightness when displaying an all-white image is usually an issue with AMOLED panels, and that’s no exception on the Pixel XL. Brightness is below 400 nits here, and there is no sunlight brightness mode that gives this a boost above 500 nits, which is something Samsung provides on their AMOLED-laden Galaxy S7 series. Viewing in strong outdoor lighting is still possible, as AMOLED brightness isn’t directly tied to full-white brightness, but it’s not as good as top-end LCDs or the best AMOLEDs I’ve tested.

http://www.androidcentral.com/google-pixel
The Pixels' screens are a big step beyond the previous generation, coming close to matching the quality of Samsung's latest phones. Even under the bright sunlight of southern China, I had no problem using the Pixel XL outdoors. (And the display looked fantastic in the comparatively gloomy UK.) The smaller Pixel's screen is equally bright, though it doesn't quite match that of the Galaxy S7 in subjective outdoor tests.

The Pixel XL's 5.5" Quad HD Super AMOLED display is excellent. It offers adequate brightness outdoors, the superb viewing angles we've come to expect of AMOLED displays, and vivid contrast. Google also hasn't tuned the display to rigid color accuracy, instead seeming to end up somewhere between the typical oversaturation of, say, Samsung, and the highly-calibrated iPhone. Comparing to a Galaxy S7 edge in the "basic" mode, which is exceptionally accurate, the Pixel XL clearly provides more saturation of colors to give them the "pop" factor that most other OEMs using AMOLED displays do.

The Pixel XL’s 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen (with a VR-ready 2560 x 1440 pixels) is absolutely gorgeous. Colors pop without being oversaturated, blacks are darker than Darth Vader’s soul, viewing angles are delicious, and it’s bright enough to read in direct sunlight. While the Pixel doesn’t have the best screens on a smartphone, they’re adequate or better than adequate. And I think you may find this to be a theme throughout this review. In many aspects, the Pixel is “safe” in terms of hardware. Like many phones, it’s not the best in direct sunlight, but this phone gets brighter than the Moto Z for example. It’s more than enough to get the job done, though. I was happy with the colors and vibrance of the display when watching videos and playing games.

Looks like it is AMOLED, so the screen brightness mod should work on it.
That's a good start.
Looking for that info as well. "Can I see the screen on a sunny day with sunglasses" is my gold standard. Most Sammy's are good with that, but would love a google phone again.
I would love a Samsung phone again.
But there is no AOSP/CM love for even the international bootloader unlocked Samsung.

Well for the international bootloader unlocked Samsung devices they use samsungs exynos processors and Samsung will not release source code for there processors so developers cant create kernels needed for AOSP/CM Roms! So don't say there is no love for AOSP/CM on Samsung devices! :highfive:

Who said it has the same panel of Note 7? Do you have a reliable source?
Yeah, I'm sure it's a Samsung panel like all the other phones with AMOLED.
But I kind of doubt it's a Note 7 specific panel.
And even if it is, it won't have the Samsung "Automatic High Brightness" feature that kicks up brightness to eye frying levels, since that is a firmware/software feature.
But there is an app on the Play Store which does something simliar to the Samsung High Brightness thing. Only works on some AMOLED displays:
High Brightness Mode Widget
I've never tried it but will do so if I ever get a Pixel (still debating due to the huge bezel size).
I would say it could be similar to the note 7 panel but def not the same one since the note 7 was 5.7 and the pixel xl is 5.5
doh, good point. hahah
I compared note 7 photo at max brightness with my 6p on high brightness mode with the same photo and the note 7 was still a tad bit brighter.
Nevertheless.... High brightness mode does come in handy on occasion when out in the sun
To my eyes, the 6P at 100% manual brightness was about 80-85% of manual brightness on the Note7; however, the 6P with the kernel driven high brightness enabled was in fact brighter than the Note7 at 100% manual brightness. But the Note7 punches right back with the "video enhancement" option enabled and when in gallery apps, or when its high auto brightness mode kicks in which would make it yet again brighter than the 6P.
The 6P can be manually forced (via kernel) at any time to be brighter than the Note7. The Note7 can only get brighter in video applications, or when driven by the auto brightness in high ambient light conditions or in sunlight.
Where the Note7 also really pulls ahead though, is outdoor visibility specifically due to its lack of reflection from the quality of the display glass itself... puts it into a class of its own which is where this difference becomes extremely noticeable out in the sun.

Panels can be produced at different sizes. The galaxy s7 and s7 edge use the exact same panel at a different size.

Here's my "real life" perspective on the 2 XL rather than an article from someone who gets paid / free product for their 'opinions'.
Phone Specs Comparison *the pic ratio they used is a bit off making the 2 XL look much larger than the 6P. It isn't.

Good job! The pictures with different backgrounds don't really show anything since they're different images. The white images correspond to exactly what I found comparing my 6P side-by-side with five different P2XL's on display at different Verizon stores (screen much brighter overall and not much difference in any blue-shifting). I compared the same wallpapers side-by-side and did note that the P2XL's were a little less vibrant but that, we know now, is being negated by an upcoming patch.

The colors are different, but I would say more natural than washed out. I'll know more tomorrow when I take some pics outside, download some music, do some signal strength and wifi testing...
I was in a hurry to get these pics up for those worried about the blue tint when viewed at angles, and difference in color saturation, since the display seems to be the biggest deal breaker for many.
Nothing has made me think "I'm sending this thing back"...
Of course I've only had it about an hour, and haven't even switched the sim over yet.
It is slightly thinner side to side, but he display is higher and the screen kinda wraps around making it look like it's a solid piece of glass around the phone. Kinda hard to describe. Daylight pics will hopefully show this.
I can't even see any blue tint on the last few angled pics.
Screen just looks perfect for me
Let us know if you notice any burn-in. I wasn't worried about blue tint on angles as much as I was about that and the less vivid display. I waste spend almost an hour a day on Dice with Buddies and would hate to see dice imprinted on the display permanently :silly:
Thanks @Az Biker for the first looks!
Yeah I'm not seeing any blue tint at all.
Maybe you got a good one? Or all the blue tint ones are the bad ones.
Not sure at this point, lol.

The only time I see a blue shift is if the screen is all white. WHO has an all white wallpaper? And it's minimal at best. Pics to come.

IDK who uses white wallpapers, but apparently the is a big enough demand for several different white substratum themes. **Shudders violently**. Not that I'm looking for a new phone but could some of your future pictures have a lighter background, I wouldn't mind seeing the phones side by side in their entirety. TIA.
Have decided I'm not a fan of rounded screen corners and I hope the trend of tall, narrow, 18:9 phones die a quick and horrible death.

That's been the design standard for the a majority, if not, all of the flagships for 2017. 18:9/no 3.5mm might be the standard for a while longer, even going into the 2019, I bet.
White background, blue tint

Here's the 2 XL with the stock white wallpaper from above, and two 45-degree angles'
Blue shift hasn't be a bother to me yet. Colors are fine too, unless you're comparing side by side. I work with color calibrated monitors for a few hours a day and the P2XL looks fine. I'm more worried about screen burn in though. Luckily Google RMA is pretty easy.
Long live the P2XL ?
thank you for providing these pictures !
i have a request, could you please try to use a solid dark greyish (material) wallpaper on both and take pictures for us ?
would like to see if the pixel 2xl comes with any sort of banding !
i am aware of the many complaints about the (srgb pale looking colors) and the blue hue but neither of those would bug me, the screen is gorgeous.
the only thing i would be worried about is the banding (those ugly lines that appear /are visible when you have a solid background , e.g some dark grey /grey material substratum theme, and go to settings you will see those lines.)
i had that issue with my Moto Nexus 6 it was like that out of the package, did not use it for more than 3 months and went for the 6p (which i currently own and has no banding.)

Thank you. I hate to be a PITA, but what I was looking for was a side by side with the 6P under bright light so I could compare the Pixel to a known quantity. All I'm really getting an image of is the screens.
Like I said though, I'm not planning on getting a new phone any time soon (if I get the 6P battery death anytime soon and don't opt for battery replacement, I'd probably get the OP 5). I tend to use them until they suffer some sort of hardware failure that renders them useless as a phone, so it's not that big of a deal - enjoy your weekend.

Oh man, thanks for reminding me of that god-awful decision . I'm one of those people that prefers my headphones wired, and uses the Jack to connect to my sound system
@Az Biker have you checked for any burn-in issues yet?
This from an Android Central reporter has me a bit concerned
I have also seen videos where people report no burn-in as of yet...so maybe it is batch related?

I was waiting a few days to let this thing have a chance to get burn in before reporting on it.
I see ZERO evidence of burn in at all. I'll attach a grey background pic (like the online reviewers are using)...
The way I see it, IF it were to get screen burn in or artifacts remained on the display, it's just a warranty replacement for a new 2 XL.... win-win (always look for that silver lining)

I took comparison shots with same grey background,in bright artificial light, and outside in direct sunlight. with angles. Let me know if these aren't what you're looking for.
6P left, 2 XL right, Inside, normal lighting, solid grey background (brightness about 70%)

The 2 XL comes with a charging port 3.5mm adapter
There 's a pic of the accessories that come with the device in the OP.

Thanks for the bright light comparison pics. Those top and bottom bezels on the Pixel are ones I wished the 6P had, only "complaint" I have with the Nexus. Just really dislike that 18:9 screen.
Saw the adapter in the OP, unfortunately I occasionally have my phone charging while using the headphone jack. I am assuming that it is not an adapter that does both at once, if they even make those yet.

I originally hated 18 9 when it came out, but I love how huge this phone is, yet how small it is. It's the same size as my OnePlus 5, but has a 10% larger display, less bezels AND front facing speakers.
