Hey, this is my first post so please don't destroy me. I just wanted to ask for help. For the past 3-4 months, on every single Rom available here on xda, whenever I open my battery settings the phone freezes then the battery screen opens and it makes the phone freeze. I went to the service center thrice and after they flash the phone, the problem goes away but recurrs after every month no matter which rom I use. I can't visit the service centre. So I was hoping if there is a way to flash the stock image as they do in the service centre. I've tried different roms, factory reset on oxygen os. Nothing helps.
I guess power management chip in phone or load controller in your battery is not functioning. First get a battery from friend and see if its okay, otherwise service center guys may need to look at power management chip. Also why not clean batter contacts on battery and in phone.

If you are still covered by warranty, don't do it. Once you open your phone, warranty will be void.

I think that you have already tried OOS. Take it to the Service Center and insist on a final solution quoting the earlier instances and ask them to check the hardware.

Yesterday my phone froze a few times, today it is dead. Red led is blinking but other than that I can't turn it on.
The phone is rooted and I can't fix it up before taking it to the service centre. Is there going to be a problem with my warranty, will they be able to tell?

If your phone was not updated to 4.1.2 then this is called Sudden Death syndrome which happens in note 2 when it is on 4.1.1. I haven't experienced this but, i heard the only way is to replace the mother board. I think this is a hard brick and hence no one will be able to tell whether your phone was rooted or not.

No, it was not updated. I hope they will fix it properly and I really hope they don't charge me for repair, I don't even know how much it would cost and if it would not be better to just buy a new phone if they don't acknowlege my warranty. So I really hope you are right they won't be able to tell.

I'm sorry I couldn't help more. If you're not able to use Download,Recovery options in your phone then i believe the rooting can't be figured out.
Wither way, just check for this by posting in the below forum.

Oh well, the phone is now on the way to the service. They better not break the screen or something. And here's hoping they don't charge me for their fault in product.

Hi,
i just posted this query in another forum and the answer is you've the warranty you'll not be made to pay for this.
If you're not under warranty, it costs about half of the device cost.
Just let me know whats happens ok?
and also whether you were able to access download or recovery mode?
I have had the One V for almost a year now, my power button was not working and i had it replaced once, but again I'm facing the same issue, i have rooted and phone and installed Ignorance rom, i want to know is there any way that I can give it to Htc because the warranty is void coz i've rooted or any way i can repair it myself.??

You have to get use to that situation cause it's normal and repairs won't help too long For now every ROM for HOV supports sweep2wake and tap2wake additionally, Igonrance have that amazing Lidroid panel with reboot and shutdown action or you can install some apps for such actions
Yeah I've been using Those amazing features until now , but yesterday my battery died.. and i had a really tough time powering my HOV on, and it seems kinda useless to have a powerbutton and not use it..So i was wondering, will the Service Center recognize if I relock my bootloader and flash Ruu again and give it for repairs?

I haven't tried it but some users in different internet communities say that service centers repair their phones under warranty if hardware (not software) is the fault reason. Even if it has been unlocked or rooted. Of course it might depend on country or even on the service center guy mood.
So I guess you may try flashing the appropriate RUU (to restore the stock software as possible) and asking service center to replace the faulty button. And you may ask if this will cost you in advance. =)
Edit: and could you please share your experience if you will try.

Thanks for your reply, I will try it tomorrow and ask the service center about it and will report back surely.
Edit: I got it repaired from HTC, although the service guy was a fool, he just repaired the phone and gave it back, didn't even check bootloader or anything, feels good to have my power button back
My HTC One M8 got bricked while updating to android 4.4.4 (eye experience). According to futuretel, the warranty is only active for three months without a receipt. I tried locating a reliable phone repair shop in Toronto and its been a nightmare. HTC has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The phone still contains my data. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
please note: the power button is broken

Bricked how? Like, it won't turn on at all? I've seen a lot of people on this site say "hard bricked" when it is something that can be fixed with some guidance.
Does it turn on?

There's a lesson here, always keep your receipts. Also if it was broken already then you should have had it replaced. Unless you caused the damage then they won't replace it regardless because you could be the reason why it bricked

He has two posts, which doesn't really tell his experience with rooting and "bricks", but is usually a good indication. I have a feeling he can fix it with some help.
I could be wrong though. No answer on the "will your phone turn on?" yet.
EDIT: no power button. not bricked. hardware issue. should read the whole post instead of having another sip of beer.

No, the phone won't turn on. However, my computer picks up the device (connects then disconnects). I'm heading to a repair shop just now.

Learnt the hard way. The phone was working perfectly fine except for the power button. After the update, the phone was stuck in a boot loop between update symbol and low battery. I pulled out the sd card and now its just showing a flashing red light. I am going to get the power button fixed just now and get the technician to diagnose any other issues.
Did you happen to buy the device with a credit card? This almost always will suffice as a proof of purchase or receipt.
If your phone was in a loop when the battery died, its not bricked.
update
The phone shows up as QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (com 3)
I'm planning on buying another phone (not HTC)

Its technically bricked but there are tools that you could use to fix it, but I doubt you want to take that much effort in fixing it.
So what was the point of this thread? You obviously don't want to fix it. So you just wanted to whine about it? Good luck on your next phone, don't brick that one too.
Pretty sure my m8 is bricked
Hey i sort of hi-jacked this thread , however it relates to my matter. I tried to convert my HTC into google play edition, I s -off, unlocked the boot loader and rooted it. Now for the fun part I went to flash a google m8 rom and BAM boot loaader came up with tampered and not only that the rom didn't work and now the htc boot screen (the white one) has a lock on the bottom and i can't do anything. I can access TWRP and have flashed other roms to it but it keeps denying them and going to the same htc boot screen with that lock symbol. Anyone please help I just got this phone and feel like I should never gotten myself mixed in this modding business lol . Thanks for anyone that can help me resolve this.

The only viable solution I came across is JTAG. Can you please share those tools? Phones shouldn't be bricking when updating on stock
I have had the the bootloop issue just this morning. Not having found much on the internet, I decided to try some stuff out. I have a slightly different problem, the phone "turns on" - the LG Logo appears and the screen goes black, except the "ping" sound Windows makes upon connecting to a device is made, and when I take it out a second "ping" sound is made, thus I know it is switched on. In the device manager on windows, I have found this: Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3). I was wondering, can anything be done to unbrick it, could I flash a KDZ file, or will it just fail? I am not under warranty any more, and I am willing to try anything, including some hardware fixes. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Take it to the service center even if ur out of warranty they can still fix it ... Just tell them that its manufacturing issue and be polite n u might get lucky

So recently I've ordered a new battery for my OnePlus 3, only to stumble upon a baffling issue - when I try to boot my phone or connect it to a power source with the battery swapped, it does nothing except shows a linux penguin logo, bootloader is also inaccessible. Does anyone have any idea what might be the issue?
EDIT:Boots perfectly with the stock battery put back.

If you put back the old battery does it function then?
If not
1. You ****ed up your hardware somehow
2. You might want to try the unbrick guide method 2.

Yes, I connected it just fine. And it does look pretty legit, I've emailed the seller and should receive a new one shortly, if the problem persists the battery is most likely a knock off, though I've no idea what could prevent it from working properly.

AFAIK, no original batteries are available for the OP3/3T in the market or online. It is only available with OnePlus.
So most probably the battery you bought is not original and there is no way of telling how it will behave.
I'm afraid it is made in Japan, Germany or Usa..

No way. It would be made in China though there are some companies there manufacturing better stuff.
Can you provide a link of the website if you bought it online? Or a photo of the battery?
