Just wait and see. No ETAs. You should try to build it yourself and you can see that it is not easy thing to do.
So please be patience. There are people already working hard to get it even to boot.

Having the same or simialiar SoC doesn't mean that the ROMs can be built identically. Just wait. Anyway early builds will be not stable enough to be used on a daily basis. So keep patient and wait for a normal(stable rom)

Android Oreo Roadmap'ish Post
Ok, so obviously many of you want to know about Oreo. The short version is that it will be quite a while. If you are expecting "weeks", revise your perception now.
There are lots of things that need to happen before Oreo is more than a dream for the vast majority of crDroid users. Since we optimize and customize from the LOS base, we can't even do anything yet. Roughly, this is how I expect things will go:
-----
1) LOS has to have a functioning base.
2) LOS needs to release device trees for O.
2a) For device trees we maintain (which are typically only on devices we own), we can look at and pull from their Gerrit experimentally. We will not do this for devices we do not own.
2b) For devices we don't own (what I refer to as "legacy devices"), the LOS DTs need to be fully up to date and functioning. Fair warning - these devices will definitely take longer to release than devices we own. It's a fact of life you'll just have to deal with.
3) LOS needs to release kernels for O. Some exceptions to kernels can be made; for instance I use ElementalX on my Pixel/XL builds. By and large, LOS needs a kernel for us to build any device.
4) There need to be gapps packages released for O (Open or Beans, but there has to be a package). Maybe nothing has to be done for these; maybe something does, we don't know yet.
5) We need to internally test for stability and full functionality.
6) At that point, we will release late beta / early release candidates for the public to test for bugs. Again, these releases will be for devices we own. Others will come only after we have gotten these stable and fully released.
7) We will have released the first crDroid builds at that point. Note they will be very near stock LOS. I'm 100% sure +Pranav Vashi will work some optimization magic like he always does, and maybe even add some features, so it won't be pure LOS, but it will be close.
8) Gradually, and selectively, we can start adding crDroid specific features. We will go slow. We do not want to just throw everything and the kitchen sink at it, because some features from N may not work on O, or may only half-way work. Heck, we have features now that don't fully work (I'm looking at you, ambient display). IMHO, and I believe I speak for our devs, we don't want to go crazy adding ALL THE THINGS immediately.
-----
Once crDroid as a whole is about where we want it, and fully operational / mostly bug free on our devices, only then we will start to branch out to other devices, assuming LOS has the device trees and kernels released for them.
If your device does NOT have a LOS device tree and kernel for O, and won't be getting it, chances are very good that support for your device will be dropped, unless you come up with a dedicated maintainer with the device that is willing to take on that project.
Chances are solid that we will be dropping a fair amount of devices. Some maintainers aren't even producing N builds like they should. With the first Oreo releases, we'll be culling the deadwood from the team.
Things you, as our community, should NOT do:
a) Do NOT request ETAs. Just don't. We don't know. We will let you know when we do. I'll even try to keep you up to date on internal progress, of which there is zero right now because we have to wait on LOS.
b) Do NOT request additional devices, unless your request comes with a maintainer. No maintainer, no devices will be added at this time.
c) Do NOT request feature additions yet. The temptation is strong, but let us get our feet wet, and get the base + what features we deem most important running well first. After that maybe we'll entertain these things.
Things you, as our community, should do:
Be patient. That's it. Thank you in advance for that.
Best,
The crDroid Team

Well, the title says it all. (well, most of it)
Do you think our phone can handle the new android "L" Update? I mean we know the basic sacrifices we have to take to have a newer OS than ICS: No bluetooth head set support...also our CPU doesn't support NEON instructions. Aside from that it runs KitKat amazingly well! I mean its really smooth! I can remember when we first got KitKat on our Cappi. @bubor Compiled Omni ROM 4.4.1. It was so cool but so unstable! But then Came along android 4.4.2 and bubor fixed the tegra 2 support issue. After that leap of faith we now have a very very smooth, stable, and fast KitKat! So enough of me ranting on and on about how far and good our phone is, do you think theres any life and if its worth it to port 'L" when it debuts? Or will the new android "L" 5.0 have new libs so no more ROMs?
Also if you want the new android "L" 5.0 apps see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796019
-Reserved-
Future post updates
Based on what we know now, I'd say the Cappy will run L. Don't have to worry about system libs as those are compiled from source with the instructions you specify. Main question is what changes in SurfaceFlinger / MediaServer, but based on what we know I don't think there'd be problems. Screencasting might not work, but that's not a big problem I think.
Little nitpick: Those are NEON instructions, not threads.

I would love nothing more than to have the latest crispiest android.
but honestly i think that .. THAT will require more developers for our phone.. i mean while i agree that we have a decen no of custom roms.
but i still think that all the pressure is mainly on bubor ... if only we could have more people.
Also i still think that development for the 4.4.x should finish before we continue on to higher upgrades.
there are still alot of bugs and we could certainly use a lil more people contributing to help out...
While i love the idea of a new upgrade i am honestly VERY VERY Satisfied with kitkat it looks good and feels smoother that ever.
while implementation of ART may help . . i think that we have already maxed out our device

Very true, I'm loving the KitKat Roms for our Cappy Glide. I'm personally using ART now with the latest CM 4.4.4 Rom Bubor makes. I'm very thankful that Bubor puts so much work into this old but still useful phone. I'm wanting to become more involved in helping where I can here. I can only do thorough testing though, I don't know how to develop roms or apps... yet. Maybe someday I'll learn.

The reason people are telling you you can't compare, other than outright respect for the Dev, is that no two circumstances are the same. Applications, processors, solder, climate, age of battery, perception of lag/fragmention, reception, etc. Tons of things go into this. If you and I both sat next to each other, and did clean flashes, no gapps, both of our devices would behave differently with identical use. What is butter smooth for me, may be a janky mess for another. My SD card has worked with every last AOSP build out so far that I've tried. Many others report it's still broken. The best advice is to flash and test on your own device, under your own conditions, and let that guide you.

Oh paranoid android will come to our device alright! It just won't be supported for more than like an update like always. Everytime I switch to PA they abandon it. Funniest part is they usually JUST released it to. Extremely hard pass from me, but don't let ME stop you. Just don't tell me I didn't warn you when they cease development very quickly.

Lmao you're right though I'm not falling for the hype anymore. It seems they just do it for likes , shares and donations cuz for the like the last few years they'll announced a new version when the next Android os drops then after a build or 2 they go missing again for a whole year or 2 and leave us in the dust I'm good!
yeah i stayed away as its not guaranteed to be updated all the time
my go to custom ROMs are AOSIP or Havoc but neither are developing for P6 I think. But Proton does look like it could be good also.
Agree with the commenters here; Paranoid Android is no longer reputable (and hasn't been in many years). ProtonAOSP, Lineage, AOSIP, and a bunch of other mainstream ROMs will officially support the P6 so it is absolutely not worth messing with PA.
I'd like to add "but" the more developers working on the P6P the better for everyone, even if one group's stuff isn't up to snuff. At least, as long as they share information when appropriate, which the best developers do, in my opinion.

Yeah, development on the P5 was severely lacking but on the P6 and the P6P many more people have it in their hands. Unfortunately, I don't root any longer but I like to see the tweaks and new stuff the devs come up with. (I actually rooted my P5 and loaded a rom before rolling it back before I sent it in for trade-in) Specifically kernel tweaks which are usually drastically needed. Nonetheless, it's a good start as you say.

Of the various ROMs available for the OP 9 Pro that are running A13, what's everyone's favorite and why? Currently looking at StagOS, PixelExtender, and Paranoid Android, but not really sure what the respective pros and cons of each are.
Oficial Beta 2
I havent tried any of the A13 custom roms since im waiting on some features to get added. But i have tried the A12 versions and my favorite so far is the blissRom. Its has the most features that I am looking for and I had the least amount of problems on that rom.

Hi, of course, I've been using beta 2 since launch and I come from beta 1, just so far I haven't noticed any problems, zero. I got tired of trying out custom roms, several of them, and I never had a lack of bugs, in addition to problems with excessive battery consumption. Anyway, after trying several different roms, definitely the best and least problematic and the original to use daily. (but attention, I'm just curious and I like to fiddle around on the phone, I'll always try it again, just because I like doing these things, it's like a hobby for me)

Stock Rom I spend the day listening to music on YouTube or Spotify (always with the screen off) I get home around 5 pm always with more than 50%. Custom Roms always under 30%.
