What about battery backup? Is it have battery drain like Lineage and RR roms?
I found few bugs in this rom. Screenshot is not working (by hotkey Power+VolDown and from power menu), and not work Bluetooth HPF/HSS (hands-free) profile with my carmedia Pioneer DEH-X5900BT and BT speaker Defender (this bug continuous from Lineage OS and RR about 6.0 to 7.1.2). In stock ROM bluetooth is working good

The screenshot is working absolutely fine. There is no problem from the ROM side. As for the hands free Bluetooth, I have never used it so I don't know anything about it. Can take screenshot from any way, working perfectly.

Yes , engineering mode is implemented in this ROM. Try to reflash the ROM it should boot. It has been tested by multiple people.

I have done my best to reduce idle battery drain. Now the battery life you get will be dependant on your usage.
Problem while flashing
Hi , I have now flashed MIUI 8 ROM.
Now , I want to flash this one.
So , I tried to flash eUI 5.9 through SP tools ( which contains TWRP 3.1 also ) , but I am getting this following error .
S_BROM_DOWNLOAD_DA_FAIL ( 2004) . It is complaining that there may be a cable communication problem between flashtool and BootROM.
But , I have tried using various other cables , still it is same problem.
Any idea why is it happening ?

If you have flashed miui, you should have twrp installed. Simply wipe everything except internal storage and flash the ROM. It should work fine. No need to flash anything from sp flash tool.

Hi , thanks a lot for the reply.
Actually , I had flashed yesterday in the same way you have mentioned. It was stuck at the 'Unicorn' symbol.
So, after searching xda , I found out that my stock ROM was not eUI 5.8+ , that might be causing the issue.
So , now , if I directly flash it , will it work ?
Will you fix the Full HD replay bug? Many YouTube video can't play by full HD or 60fps, it's very annoying.

It should, try flashing it without flashing anything else with it. Wipe the normal stuff, and wait for at least 15 minutes before declaring that it doesn't boot.
Nice work, keep up the good work.
Do we need to change to f2fs?

Brom error is the driver problem uninstall the MTK driver then install the other one. I faced the same error solved with installing another driver, IF you don't have enough charge on phone this can happen.
Or you can flash the boot and recovery partition in bootloader mode. then install zip

Hi , I have downloaded the stock ROM and driver from this post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73219945&postcount=272)
As far as I know , I had flashed custom ROM prior to this also , and then it worked ( I mean SP tools ) .
And my phone charge was 80% while trying to flash through SP tools.
So , what might be causing the problem ? Can you please help me ?

Are you using the auth file (auth_sv5.auth) while using sp flash tool ?
Don't flash the twrp recovery with sp flash file, use the stock recovery. After the rom boot completed root the rom install TWRP then install custom rom.
INcase if you need you can use his stock rom and driver

this works for me.
Brom error is 100% driver problem if your cable is good.
you can use bootloader mode to flash rom without twrp.

Update: This ROM requires MM firmware. If you never upgraded to ASUS official MM using the ota or zip from ASUS website, the ROM will not boot on your device. All variants have received MM update as of now except ZE500KG. ZE550KG users can use ZE500KL 's MM OTA to upgrade to MM.
What is Smoothified Stock ROM?
> Its the deodexed, debloated, zipaligned and pre-rooted form of the official asus firmware.
What are the benefits?
> The ROM is derived from stock, hence stable. It is debloated, deodexed and zipaligned, hence FASTER than pure Asus ROM. You will get more free RAM, I expect more than 50% of free RAM when phone is idle.
Which devices are supported?
All variants of Zenfone 2 Laser and Selfie
Z00E
ZE500KL
ZE500KG
Z00L
ZE550KL
ZE600KL
ZE550KG
If there are any other devices similar to Z00L, (like Zenfone Max) they might be supported as well
Z00T
ZE551KL
ZE601KL
ZD551KL (Selfie)
Note: ROM for Z00T group is removed temporarily since many users reported bootloops. Will be updated as I get time.
How to flash?
> You need unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed on your device
> Download the correct ROM file as per your device group
> Put the .zip file in your external sdcard.
> Reboot your phone to "Recovery Mode". [Vol down + Power]
> Wipe cache, dalvik cache and factory reset your device. Wipe system if you had custom ROM installed Try without wiping system first. Wipe system only if it doesn't boot.
> Select the zip file to install.
> Reboot device. First reboot may take upto 30 min. If it takes more than this, don't use the ROM, comment your device details-
-Did you ever upgraded to MM using the office ASUS ota or zip file from ASUS website ?
- Your SKU:
- If possible, provide your system partition size:
-Prevous ROM
-Device model and SoC:
Any issues?
> Mention your device model, chipset (eg MSM8916, MSM8939, etc), SKU, TWRP version, previous ROM and what you wiped.
> Any issues reported without above info will be ignored
> Don't pm your issues, post it here
> Currently, headphone doesn't detect for an variant. You can use SoundAbout app from playstore as a temporary fix.
I am trying hard to fix this.
Update : As per my current findings, I have concluded the issue is due to make_ext4 binary which doesn't retain all sysmlinks from stock system.new.dat. I am trying different versions of the binary to test if this fixes the issue
DOWNLOADS
Edit (19 July) : I am extremely busy. I will provide updates only if it fixes headphone issue. Z00T users, I am sorry I can't provide a working build until I get a Z00T device or an active tester.

is that mean this rom will work with zooed
Happy to test a clean stock rom i ll be reporting back soon
Currently downloading the ROM. First thing I noticed is the considerable shrinkage of ROM size. Can you tell us, which apps did you remove? At the moment I am using CM13 but willing to give the official ROM a try since Its always much stable than the forever Nightly CyanogenMod. Thanks for your effort.
I got my boot loader unlocked and flashed my Z00L ROM. It's doing great! There are few ASUS apps that are left redundant in /system (apks exist but apps are not installed) I will can remove more apps and shrink the ROM size further.
I need a quick feedback. Does anyone uses asus theme app? I was thinking to remove it as well.
i will try this on my Z00L MSM8916 currently downloading though, i'll keep you posted after i flash it if i will found any bugs thanks anyways for the hardwork :good: and please dont remove asus theme app i'm using it.
EDIT: got it working First boot only takes 15 minutes on mine and its rooted thanks again great job

What about System Updates
Hi i m haing a ZE550kl currently running on CM 13 (6.0.1) , I wanted to ask .. that if i install this [6.0.1] Smoothified Rom, will it support asus updates from system updates .. like the stock asus rom ?
Headset not working here ZE500KL. Overall better than stock one.
edit : tried using SMMI TEST. it says headset not pluged
Thanks,

Most probably no. Asus update app checks and assures that system is not modified. If the system is modified in any way (ROM, recovery or boot.img), it won't show up updates. And as this ROM is deodexd (most probably pre-rooted and busybox installed), updates won't be supported.
BTW thanks a lot for smoothified MM @sziraqui. I was waiting for this version since the release of official MM for Z00LD.
Downloading currently. Will review it soon.
Thanks

I read it, still it's a flashable rom which is pre-rooted which ultimately allows some customization. This is a stock based ROM that I already know, but something better than the Stock Rom is always appreciated.

it's not kernel problem i think, since op only debloat and not touching anything. maybe the app need for headset got disabled i think.

Might be FMservice, fmradio or emusic sort of files got removed from the ROM causing headphones related problem as occured earlier in stock 5.0.2 debloated ROM. Might not be I am true, but this could be a probable reason.
The problem is neither with fmradio or fmservice. Problem occurs after deodexing. I will keep few headset related apps odexed and post an update. Also, did anyone notice lag with asus keyboard?

Any chance of losing IMEI after flashing? How can I backup IMEI?

I don't think so, because you will flash a ROM and not a Firmware. So only system and boot are modified.

If I get bootloop or soft brick it. Can i restore back using backup of Stock ROM taken through your TWRP?

The VERY FIRST THING you must do is a FULL BACKUP with TWRP. Whit this backup you can restore your phone if you get bootloop. And if you softbrick your phone, you can restore it with the ORIGINAL ROM of your phone with QFIL, and then restore your full backup you made first.
So, find original ROM of your phone and keep it in a safe place, make a backup and... let's go!
@ Shreps I think it's necessary to say that arm64 gapps is incompatible.

Thx for your feedback!
About Red Border screen, it's normal, the ROM is built in debug mode until everything is fixed
Do you have RIL/phone/Data/LTE on your variant ?
It's working on K32C36(Chinese version of K5 Plus) only thing I notice now is Gello is FC
and the default DPI is...320? It seems that the system recognize this device as tablet?

Nice
About Gello, you need make a user installation of the APK (use File Explorer, and install /system/app/Gello/Gello.apk) to make it works.
or install and use Chrome
About the DPI, 320 is the right density for the A6020a40 variant (I have) because of it's 1280x720 resolution.
Your variant might have a bigger resolution, you can try to change the Density in Settings/Display/LCD Density and use a bigger one.
Or set 480 in your build.prop
We will check if we can set the right density depending of the variant.
And what about RIL/Data/LTE? Working on your variant too ?
@Shreps I just found a bug! When I lock my screen, it turns black instead of turn off. And another thing: I can't access download mode anymore, so I can't restore the stock rom for now using QFIL, only by TWRP Backup.
EDIT:
Brightness control doen't work too.

This is the kind of things we'll need to know in order to try to make it work best on all devices.
We can introduce a specific init.c that will set variables depending on the device.
In order to do so, send us the result of a adb shell getprop once the rom is fully booted. We'll try to find some specific information to use.

Hello @mauronofrio
But... Your ROMs (CM 14.1, PAC-MAN, Bliss, RR and this- SlimROM) are compatible with version Z2 or Z2_plus?
Because in the Thread write "Z2" while in the folder AndroidFileHost present only the ROM for "Z2 Plus"
I'm confused... Thanks!
z2 and z2 plus are the same phone
@Fedor917 @mauronofrio, can we re-enable long tap please? it's more useful than long press of the fingerprint/home button
separately, does slim rom support substratum/layers or use CMTE? would be great to have a z2 rom that supports substratum, since CMTE app themer engine is still quite buggy ...

The following commit tries to fix this problem:
https://github.com/SlimRoms/device_oneplus_oneplus3/commit/5d692e32436fa0617c32318238fbfa8e926ae7a1
After ROM compile, data still doesn't come back after wifi disconnect but comes on after turning airplane mode on & off. Only benefit is that you don't have to restart your device to get data on. But problem is not 100% fixed.
Note: any Dev with a complete fix for this, let me know. this is my daily driver.

hm never used anything above marshmallow for this device. Just assumed anything above MM will be unstable. Just use latest twrp - wipe system/cache/data. clean flash, all should work I guess.
I've just tried it and data is not working whether connection type I am using, but I had to go back on Cr droid:/

I've tried the air plane workaround but it didn't work out.
No I didn't downgrade but it is a good suggestion, so I should flash a twrp zui version
first the flash slim rom? knid of a pain in the ass if I don't keep the rom as a daily driver.
Any more detailed feedback on this rom?

Its also recommend to upgrade to stock nougat first instead of flashing a nougat rom directly due to firmeware related things like baseband etc. so..

Have you managed to flash the rom with data working? Only issue I had in the past was Wi-Fi not working, fixed long ago. I'm guessing this issue has something to do with flashing rom from a Nougat base/rom (different drivers etc). In past devices i had to flash modem/bootloader for MM to get stuff working with MM Custom Roms. Not sure about about this device, never upgraded beyond MM.
If anyone tested this update & everything works let me know. If there's still issues, I'll remove the links.
Testing right now
Everything seems to be fine, flash with darkmoon kelner 4.1
Except Wifi/data but after turning on airplane mode and turning of, data works

You'll be fine with that
so, just flashed this rom onto a castor. everything works fine so far .. flashed rom - > gapps (full) -> magisk (latest beta)
file explorer bugged yes, but just install another one from playstore
videos works ( mx player played mkv and avi file) netflix and youtube .. no problems
musik is a bit loud but on the other hand videos are a bit low ^^
hotspot working, but without data there is no use to it anyway
ouh one big hit, if you format your sdcard into shared space (internal memory) you are unable to get into twrp
sometimes the tab seems a bit slow with graphics and/or animations (on playstore) , but that's nothing heartbreaking
yeah, love it so far .. looking forward to a castor build with mobile data support
@opendata,
Download link not working. Takes me to transfer.sh site but will not allow to download. Can you put up a mirror?
Edit: dis-regard. link working now...
Battery charges very fast and last long.. much better that N RRrom.
Clock wont move in center even i try.. annoying

yeah for me it says 7 days .. can't be right .. gonna check this out
hmm my sdcard says android uses 120gb space
i'm still on aicp, do i must use flashtool with stock rom??? i'm afraid to use it, i dont like idea of back to stock 6.0.1 (never used flashtool before) and again unlock, flash twrp and flash custom can brick device
you can flash it via twrp, no problem.
you don't need to going back to stock oO , just go twrp wipe everything and then flash the rom
so i'll try i thought your build is like builds from rcstar6679 that need using flashtool with stock before flash custom
i know it is rude to ask and i'm sorry, but is there any progress with LOS for castor?
Hi, I am currently on RR Nougat 7.1.2 . Is it necessary to do a full wipe (cache, dalvik, data, system) ?
What happens to sd card used as internal memory?
yes you should do a full wipe, no dirty flash from 7 to 8
it seems that the card gets miscalculated .. doubled size and then android takes half of it oO kind of strange but the same error is on carbon rom, so
it is a oreo error.
Seems like the download link is not working. Anyone got a mirror?
better use the carbon ROM, this Build here is more than outdated and it seems the project is abandoned. So your only choice is Carbon

The download link works just keep trying. For whatever reason the file host is a bit flaky, but will work if you continue to try.
This is no different then any other ROM opendata releases. The updates come when he has time. On RR Rom we got updates every 4-6 weeks, a little premature to call it dead, he does have other things going on like we all do and hobbies like this take the back seat.
Well, it isn't premature to take a conclusion when he doesn't even answer a simple Question since a month. The download link is DEAD, the file got deleted. So no, there is at this point no other
choice .. Stock / RR Final or Carbon Oreo. btw. this rom was based on LOS not RR. And it is nearly two releases behind.
I for myself still waiting for a new update here for castor (not windy), coz I really hope that a LoS Build would be running more than perfect on this tablet. but i think we will have to wait until
the next year when oreo is out of beta.
Sorry for not answering recently, i am really busy. I should have more free time near end of december which is about the time rr will be released (i will move to that) in the meantime i recommend people go to carbon.

Hi. I think you must upgrade your TWRP. Download from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/android-rom-ota/files/TWRP_Recovery/
Flash the newest built, I recommend the July 29, 2018 built, you won't find the same error 7 or 6 again (no need to remove assert etc).*
