Battery percentage? - Moto Z2 Force Questions & Answers

Is there an option to enable the battery percentage in the top right corner?

bring down the notification from the top, tap and hold on the gear icon until system UI tuner is enabled. Then go into settings -> System UI Tuner -> Status bar -> Battery.

That's only in the battery and it's hard to see

The very first item on the battery page in settings is a toggle for battery percentage in the status bar...

Incorrect

I'm on Att and it has battery percent option in battery settings

It looks like some versions don't have the option in Settings/Battery for the full battery percentage in the Status Bar... Stupid carrier variants.

Another question in regards to battery...is there any way to make the status and soft key bars not orange when in battery saver mode? This seems awfully counter intuitive to me, especially on an oled display.

That is default Android behavior. Google chose that color. Google changed them from Orange to red in Oreo.

Interesting. It's almost like Google doesn't want you to have your phone in battery saver mode.

It's been that way since they introduced the battery saver. I believe if you look up old articles people complained about the gaudy orange color scheme. They finally changed it to red in O but I feel they should just have an icon.

It's very gaudy. That's one area that Sony beats the Motorola. I would keep my XZ and z3 compact before that in stamina mode and all that would visibly change is a battery icon in the status bar.

Man I just realized Oreo has the battery % off to the side instead of in the battery. Hope Motorola when they deliver it keeps it.

On Oreo? One of the first things I did when I got this phone was turn it off. I don't think the T-Mobile one had the % displayed out of the box but the AT&T definitely did.

Awaiting delivery of Z Play and not used to Moto Display.

Hi,
Please forgive me if this is a noob question, but I've not found an answer here or elsewhere.
I'm coming from a Galaxy S6 and used the notification light to isolate between emails (Nine, for Exchange), SMS (Chomp), Facebook, Whatsapp, etc - each of which had a different alert tone and colour. Will Moto Display show interactive notifications for these third party services?
Thank you, in advance.

ya defiantly it will
By far the worst thing about Moto Display is that it will make it really difficult to ever buy a phone without again.
It is still, by a wide margin, the best implementation of an active display on any phone. And since it's hardware-aided, no amount of software is able to replicate it on other devices.
It will show you all notifications as they come in and any time you interact with your phone, be that by touching it, lifting it up, bumping the table or simply waving your hand at the phone like a Jedi master. You can then immediately interact with any of them.
You might miss the notification LED for a day or two but I seriously doubt you'll ever look back once you're used to it.
I like it here and there i own moto x pure and the z play, the moto x pure was my first moto phone with moto display, i was to used to the led notifications that when i looked at my phone and didnt see an led blinking i would think theres no notifications and that was an issue, but if i waved my hand over the phone i can see the app icons for notifications, so the issue was not seeing an notification alert at a glance, moto display has breath notification but idk if it just my deviced it dont last very long . Once i get a notification the moto display will breath for a few minutes then just stops.
At the end moto display does its job and it is pretty cool, but i still kinda miss the led here and there.

Thank you, guys. Hopefully there will be a setting which will allow me to keep the notifications active until I clear them.

That i beleive is because Moto X Pure has a LCD display and not an AMOLED screen. The breathing notification worked great on my Original Moto X.
And my Moto Z Play should be delivered tomorrow
So if I have a notification on Moto Display, will it 'breathe' on and off to tell me until I clear the notification, or will it just come on if I wave my hand over or move the phone?

I don't know if it's just me but i never caught my display to light with a old notification. Only when I get new ones or with some kind of movement.

That's a shame. I loved the LED on the Galaxy S6 which would flash a different colour with different notifications, so I could see what was going on from across the room.

No because on the nexus 6 and even the Pixel, when you touch the notification on the lock screen the entire screen would light up full color. NOW the notification stays black and white while you swipe away.

Yeah it was a big thing for ex-moto users. We got used to it and swiping away notifcations in the dark wouldn't light up the entire screen causing the room to light up. PLUS the reasoning for staying black and white was that its' supposed to save battery by not having to fully enable the screen.

with the ambient display or whatever it is you can swipe away whatever notification without waking up your phone to show the entire lockscreen.

That wasn't the original behavior. I'm wondering exactly when it changed. The original ambient display behavior was that if you touched the notification on the lockscreen, the ENTIRE display would turn on including your wallpaper. It doesn't do that NOW but I'm just curious if anyone knows when the change was implemented.

Yes. I'm on O. you can only do it when the initial notification comes in. Once the initial notification disappears it goes to the small icons with no info. THAT part I do no like
it's always worked that way as long as you did nothing other than swipe the notification, at least it always did for me. it was only if it actually registered as a tap that the screen would light up or if you stopped mid swipe.
What I think is cool is that you can now swipe a calendar notification and pick a snooze option!

Remove Status Bar Carrier

I wanna do what it says up there^
Or customize it.
This had been universally easy on Samsung devices and pre-marshmallow... But I've had no luck with any Xposed module yet. Tried the regulars, gravity box, wanam, firefds, x-blast, and a few moto-x modules.
My absolute last option will be to do a regex replacement for anything that says SPRINT but ughhh, that's like killing a squirrel with a 44 magnum.
Anybody able to point me to a more surgical method of this?
...(fear I might be stuck with heinous notification icons and carrier text in the bar until custom ROMs like RR hit the goop)

If you're talking about removing the carrier label you can do that from the settings of the phone
Flat style bar indicators will let you change the text, size and shape of literally every element of your status bar.

Battery percentage on the notification panel

Hi everyone, just got LG G7 from tmobile. I am confused, almost on every picture on the internet I see battery percentage in the top right corner of the screen. In my case in order for me to see battery % I need to pull down the notification panel. Is there a way to fix that? I already went to battery settings and switched on the option to show the battery % in notifications panel. Please help.

If you go into Settings and then Battery, there is a toggle that says "Battery Percentage on status bar".

Ok, I was just messing with it and you are right. It will never show it in the notch but it toggles that option in the notification drop down.
I love the phone, but seriously, what is the point of calling this a second screen if you still have to pull down the notification bar to see the icons?
I hope they add an option for always show icons....

I'm on T-Mobile, and it's showing just fine for me, no pull-down required. Toggling "Battery percentage on status bar" in Settings | Battery toggles it off and on (for me, anyway).
I did a factory reset and now I have the percentage in the notification bar. Perhaps it a bug??
Has to do with display size. Turn it all the way down.

You need to enable two things for this to work.
Go into Settings and then Battery and turn on "Battery percentage on status bar". \
You also need to select Standard from New Second Screen settings.
