It doesn't Support VoLTE=Video Over LTE Right from the dialer.
As I am a Jio Sim user, I know there is no need of 3rd party app to make video call on my Samsung j7 2016.
I contacted huawei team and they clearly told me that we don't have support for video calling instead you have to use 3rd party app for this.
I purchased Huawei Honor 8 pro skipping One plus 5,
thinking that 30K phone have all and it outstand 1+5 But it lacks in video calling.
Lets hope for future Updates If they provide for that.
Anyone Who Able To Video call from their Jio sim to other Jio number without using 3rd party app, inform please.
Or anyone who will get future update for this.... Please back and inform us.
I raised the same query with the China team and they indicated they shall work on the same.

long time ago, video calls was a must have feature for me. and by "long time ago" i mean maybe 15 years ago back during those feature phone days. as we didn't have "smartphones" but wanted to be able to "see" our loved ones during calls, it's a must have for me. what more, video calls back then costs the same as phone calls.
but these days, not sth i bother since apps can do that and many of us are more data-centric these days.
i guess one parts of the country may not have good mobile data network and hence video calling is still a must have?
Honor said an update is in the works.

Bro it is VILTE if there is support we can do video call , presently no honor device have this support.
The 5X have VoLTE support
What ?? Really VILTE?
I bought last week at a discounted price in amazon.
I never expected this way honor will be lacking.
now I already bought, so will be using it.
I previously used xiaomi devices (redmi 2 prime/MI4/redmi3s prime) which are excellent. Features as well as facilities are better than honor 8 pro.
Only 6gb ram and 128gb memory is the plus point.
let us hope honor may try to rectify their lapses.

Seems like you're missing quite a lot of features of MIUI.
EMUI is more closer to stock Android compared to MIUI.
Agreed that it doesn't have heaps of features like MIUI but you have to understand that MIUI and EMUI are different. Not every feature of other skins will be present.
Reagrding the native video calling, for the time being you can use Google duo app. It's pretty simple and good.
And I don't feel that comparing redmi series with Honor 8 pro is good.

It is meaningless to mention whether to use google duo or not.
And please dont justify the lapses of a premium phone again it is meaning less.
Rather, raise a concern and make it communicated to honor so that they can take some steps to minimize it.

I don't feel there are any serious lapses in honor 8 pro and I feel many others would agree with me.
People using native video calling through dialer is a very niche category.
Even then, this missing thing has been forwarded to the honor team.
But there are other things to improve that are more important.
You may take a look at the post in this forum that mentions the issues to be rectified in future updates.
And can you tell me which other phones other than the redmi series of phones support native video calling?

Every person is not equally expert.
Native vedio calling is used by my mother during calling to my sister who lives 5000 km away, specially when to talk with her little granddson.
Native caller app vedio call is really a very easy solution to them.

I least care for that but even then, I try to be as humble as I can.
And this being a public forum, I am free to reply anyone as you are free to post anything.

Also, I suggest you to read the reviews of the phone before buying so that you get know the features of the phone.

Oh, so there are others too who need the ViLTE feature desperately.
Please visit this link and like and comment, please. Honor guys have also replied to it. Will be helpful and may aware the honor team to take this on priority.

P.S.: They call it NVC (native video calling) by the way.
I have also added this thread link to the honor support page for their lookout.

Mentioning this NVC feature lapse in a premium phone.
They have given me full refund.
Now I am planning to get a mix2 model from xiaomi/vernee/oukitel....
any suggestion ??
my budget is 35k INR.

I actually like HD voice... which uses VoLTE... It's definitely much clearer if both parties have HD voice.

Yep, that is the main feature of VoLTE, way better voice quality. I would think to be fully implemented, everyone needs the new equipment which compatible with VoLTE, which seems to be quite a while.
Fact of the matter is, Verizon advertised the phone as VOLTE, then recently, removed that icon from the Note 4 page, just like they did with the headphones.
Some markets are VoLTE capable now, but you and the person you called must have a supported phone to get HD. It sounds very good. I've heard several T-Mobile customers talk to each other with it.

No benefit, if you ignore the much, MUCH clearer voice quality. Right.
This really wasn't a "help" thread, it was a discussion on when we get volte support. But alright I guess.

No man. It's free. VoLTE is much clear on both sides of the call. I used it on my GS5, my wife also has a GS5 and it was great.
it's not gimmicks to get your money because it's free.
I think the Note 4 should have it in about a month or so. I'd say depends on how popular this phone will be and how bad people will bug VZW to give it to us.

Any XLTE phone can be compatible with VoLTE, in maybe 2 years most smartphones should be
VolTE just needs an update.. same like G2/S5
the next vzw to get it are the droids from last year. i'm guessing the note 4 will get it before the end of the year. the s5 already has it.
Can i please get some advice? (sorry a bit long but thought i need to provide the background info).
I have been given a Samsung Note 7 as a compensation-related gift by my network operator Vodafone and to cut a very long story short i have almost exhausted all possibilities with Vodafone and Samsung to get it exchanged for a different model or a credit.
I am currently looking at the possibilities of keeping my Note 7 if i feel i can assess (and possibly repair) it privately to confirm the safety implications and any other issues that may come up.
My questions are as follows:
1. Has anyone had success changing the Imei and model number? The reason is to protect myself from network barring and to retain app support. I have a previous Note and can use the imei. My plan was to change the model to G935F that of an S7 Edge. (There are some sites i came across but I wasn’t sure the guides were tested)
2. Can i root it and will i be able to update it regularly from core android?
3. Will the Wifi-calling feature work? Sounds like a small thing but its quite important. I have this feature on my Note 7 already and activated on my account and its very useful to me.
I live in the UK and I am an Engineer by trade. I worked for a cellular phone repair centre a number of years ago that specialised with Samsung and Nokia phones.
Whilst i have some experience and contacts in the industry, my knowledge of the current software/ firmware platforms on the market is limited so i would greatly appreciate any advice you can give.
Thanks in advance
not too sure about how you would transplant the hardcoded iemi number mate... are uk note 7s actually confirmed being banned?
You can root it and from that you can add features from the xposed library that will surely extend the life of your note 7 for years.. by which time the note 8 should be out in some form.
I read on maybe this site, or another, that someone had their Note 7 thinking it was the S7 yet still fully functioning as a Note 7 (Grace UI, etc)

Thanks for info. I'm not sure if they will fully inforce a ban but the procedure for returning the n7's is pretty much the same, minus the fire proof boxes (read into that what you like). I want to see what needs to be put in place if they do.
Any idiots guide for rooting and where to download files would be appreciated.

If you do that would be great.
I'm trying to stoke up some support in the uk to appeal to Samsung to at least reassess the n7's already out there but there's only a few interested. I believe there is more support in the US which may provide a much stronger case.

The official release date in the UK for the Note 7 was next week, October 28th, which ironically was the same date as the Note 2 release, Note Edge release and Galaxy View release, just different years.
Call me crazy, I recognize a pattern here.
I am a serious Note user, so instead of following the crowd I will either consider the LARGE 18.4" Galaxy View or the 6" Curved Screen Huawei Mate 9. Hmmm, Mate, Note?
For some strange reason there aren't many Samsung Stylus Devices available, can't find the Note Pro 12.2 on sale anywhere. Something is definitely up. All I know is I feel sorry for those Pixel, iPhone 7, V20 blinded sheeple.

Samsung can't help because I didn't buy it direct and Vodafone said it was giving to me as a gift and not linked to my account so I need to deal with Samsung. I know this sounds ludicrous but Vodafone are a nightmare and I was ready to book myself into rehab after the effects of previous issues. I could take this up with an ombudsman but it takes time and I'm not sure I have the energy.

The recall is voluntary. Do not believe those people who say your IMEI will be blocked or barred. It will only be blocked if the phone was purchased in a payment plan and You fail to return it. Or if You fail to keep the payments. The recall is absolutely VOLUNTARY. Do not be afraid. Many of us are keeping the phone, because we know the risk is now minimal.
All electronics have the possibility to fail. All batteries have the risk of catching fires. This risk is a lot greater when the device begins their lifecycle. So now the risk is minimal. Samsung did not take "probability" into consideration before sending those replacement phones. Meaning if you had 50 in 2 million to catch fire with the original. Now you had 50+30* of catching fire in the replacement. (*More o Less)
Samsung has a great opportunity to collect data and usage information with us. Otherwise if people panic they will just scrap the Note Series all together.
Good Luck! ?

In short: No you can't change your IMEI, but that is not needed. If you don't want Samsung to directly know that your device is a Note 7, you need to change your device name in build.prop (but to do this you need root) and to deactivate software updates.
But I recommend you to not use the device. Samsung may not release any software updates, and the risk of exploding is still there. Even if the risk is very small, it can happen at any time, and the more time you spend with this device, the bigger is the risk.

Thanks for your reply SaschaHa. I am just weighing up my options while waiting for a reply from Samsung hq. If i was use it I would be after I had assessed it internally.
Although Samsung wont provide updates will I be able to semi - regularly update it manually from stock? Eg nougat 7 was originally in the pipeline for the n7.
Also would wifi - calling get carried over/ integrated in the build?

You only can update it manually if some rom developers port firmwares from other Samsung devices to the Note 7 (if Samsung doesn't release updates). But that mostly is only possible for the same Android version, so there might never be a Nougat rom for Note 7. So then the only possibility to get a newer Android version is to use a AOSP / CM(14) based rom, if a developer created one for the Note 7. But without proper drivers by Samsung, that's difficult. And I think, the most developers are going to use other devices instead of risking a burning N7.

I'm staying factory. I did not disable the 80% battery option because we ran a study and found overcharging to be 1 of 3 factors in starting fires. If Samsung sends the Nougat update, then I will just update. The customs ROMs I'm not a big fan of, because it seem one always looses some cool feature like heart monitor, Samsung Pay or scanner. I got a Note 3 that I plan to use as my flying phone and my Note 7 will be my daily driver

Do you mean 60% battery limitation update? Fyi I spoke with a samsung rep today that had called into one of the stores, he believes there is a kill type update coming to force customers hands. I have the 1st addition (non batt update) so if I was to keep it I would have to root. As mentioned wifi calling is also an issue. Samsungs got a lot to answer for ditching such a great device and one that can be repaired

Unless they have a Sprint Note 7 60% otherwise you can bump up to 80% charge. I recommend you get advise from an Engineer rather than a Sales Rep
I no longer have the pictures but click:
1.- Settings
2.- Device Maintenance
3.- Battery Icon
4.- Advanced Settings Menu
5.- Disable the "Limit maximum charge to 60%" tab

I'm not from the UK however I did purchase the Singapore (Same as UK) version and I'm using it on ATT Mexico.
Please refer to the Voluntary recall at: http://www.samsung.com/us/note7recall/
As of today the recall is only mandatory in Germany. Note 7 is banned on all flights in the US and part of Mexico. The mandatory recall will take time as the Consumer Product Safety Commission has to run a full investigation on the matter

Hello from Singapore then.
I suppose you're keeping your unit then.
Hello,
I just received my phone yesterday and so far so great!I was wondering when will be getting 8.0 if we are.\
When I ordered the phone,I didn't get the choice to pick my storage.I saw that the phone has up to 128gb?I got the 32 and only has 3gb of ram not 4 like what I saw on androidauthority.com
-Yes, this phone will receive Android 8.0, maybe on Christmas, maybe in a few months.
-The phone has 32GB of onboard storage, it has up to 128GB of expandable storage via microSD.
-The BND-L24 only has 3GB of RAM, I don't know why, but the device costs less compared to the 4GB variants. I've seen the other 7X variants with 4GB of RAM cost up to 250 dollars.
Yes
Definitely, without any doubt.
Another info, US got the 3/32 which is priced at 200$, while EU got 4/64 priced at 300€, the reviewer of android authority (the written version) got the EU model
Just got device today impressed so far
I have BND-L21 4GB 64GB UK will be getting 8.0 sure enough soon

Huawei lost credibility with US consumers when they broke promises about updating the Huawei Mate 2 (HAM2)--a promise made at the launch of the phone. After rolling out updates to the phone in other world markets, they told US owners that they weren't getting an update and would have to be content with Jellybean. It took a massive protest on the Internet to shame Huawei into working on and releasing an update to the US model of the HAM2. A lot of us who went through that episode don't rule out that it could happen again. Huawei wants sales in the US market but doesn't want to do the leg work to earn customer goodwill and brand recognition.

A lot of us who went through that episode don't rule out that it could happen again. Huawei wants sales in the US market but doesn't want to do the leg work to earn customer goodwill and brand recognition.

Not complaining, just reminding US buyers about the same promise of an update, made at sales launch, being broken. I'm hoping Huawei won't do that again, especially since they seem to have struck a deal with AT&T to sell the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. Huawei build quality is very good. Just be aware that you can't necessarily rely on promises of OS updates, especially in the US market.

That does seem upsetting, hopefully they won't leave the 7X on Nougat. If not, I'll leave for Motorola or maybe Xiaomi since I've heard they might step into the US market next year.

It's hard to say. Most manufacturers are launching multiple phone models each year and it's hard to predict which ones will attract developer support. The 7X may. It's still not been on the market for very long. Time will tell; if there is no developer interest exhibited in another 10 weeks or so, I wouldn't expect to see it at all.
hi
just ordered the US version.... dont know why they reduced the RAM by a GB for the model here ?
Looks like competition here is too much, so they had to drop the price to 200 hence the reduced GB.
yet... $150 USD additional for 1 GB RAM doesn't make sense at this time. (4GB 300€ vs 3GB 200$ )
My honor 5X sucks and is super slow with the set of apps I typically use, hopefully this solves the problem.
Now just hoping for Lineage 15.1 on this, hopefully soon.

Hello, i am newbie here. kind of wired but can someone just port Samsung messages and keyboard app for op5t? or is there anyway i can get them? Or may be Samsung Based Rom. Help Appreciated.
WHAT??? Nobody wants this Bloatware stuff.
This is the reason peoople buy oneplus. Cant imagine that you want touchwizz on such a clean phone like oneplus 5t.

Not actually the **** touchwiz. Just the apps basically like messages and keyboard
Obviously everyone has a different opinion, but most would agree including myself that both the Samsung Keyboard and Messages app are not as good as either GBoard or the Messages app that come supplied with the OP5T, give them chance and I am sure you will appreciate this for yourself.

Touchwiz has a typical lag in it which samsung could never get rid of and its carrying on with their flagship phones on the other hand OOS is absolutely free of any kind of lags and a combination of latest snapdragon cpu and 6 or 8gb ram makes oneplus 5t a very unique phone, keep using it and in a very short time you will completely forget samsung, hope this helps, cheers.
I can understand if you want Samsung keyboard. But I think SwiftKey is better tho. But what's special about Samsung messages?

Can't you direct download the apk from Google?
How often you use SMS tho? Bcs here in my country, people rarely use that anymore.
The gallery app from samsung is miles ahead compared to OnePlus

SMS is still the most used messeging in the States as to where things like whatsapp and other messengers are not really used outside of children. The average person in the states still sends thousands of SMS a month.
As for the question. Instead of people giving their pointless opinions how about answering the question.
You cant get those apps. OEM apps like that need the OEM framework to work and that is only on their devices.

That's alot. If you are looking for apps to try. I would suggest Android Messages (rcs support) or these 2 apps from among my fav dev Luke Klinker, Pulse SMS : has both phone and web interface. Or EvolveSMS.
I know it isn't what you asked for but give the Mood SMS app a try. The ability to schedule, add GIFs and other items is amazing.

You can't install that on a non Samsung Framework phone. So that won't work.
I would also love a proper port of the samsung keyboard. It's imo miles better then any other keyboard. Still miss it from my Note 3.
Come on devs its 2022 and no one succeed to PORT Samsung apps for One plus
Hi,
Like many of you, few weeks ago I received the Oxygen 10 update on my OnePlus 5T (received it OTA, didn't do it manaully).
Needless to say that this update is full of bugs.
What is most important to me is the call recording, which is worthless now.
BUT, I'm not here to complain, I think the OnePlus support/feedback forums are flooded enough with bugs of this version.
All I'm interested to know is whether OnePlus is working on fixes for the OnePlus 5T?
Does anyone know if they're going to release a fix update anytime soon?
Because if not- I might flash the previous stable 9.0.11 ROM, which will cause me to perform a factory reset, which I'm not thrilled about, so I don't want to do it for nothing.
When I asked this in OnePlus forums I was redirected to:
Oxygen 10 mega-thread, which is kind of pointless because it contains hunderds of pages of people complaining and no one answers
OnePlus Software Maintenance Schedule, also provides no answers
Oxygen FAQ, mentions expected release by mid-July, which obviously didn't happen
I know most people have no idea, but maybe someone have some inside information, will be great to share.
Thanks

This phone is outdated. It has been 3 years . What else do you expect ?
It will come when it comes . That's what's meant for outdated phones.
OnePlus only delivers software os update for 2 years and security patch upto 3 years.
There's no point in arguing about bugs or asking about update.
If you need bugless try custom roms , way better.
Or buy a new phone from another company. That's the only way .

I know it's been 3 years and they don't have to provide software updates, but OnePlus chose to give this update, the least they can do is provide an update without as many bugs.
I didn't ask for this update, I received it OTA, I would probably be just fine with Oxygen 9.0.11, which I might return to if they won't push some fixes anytime soon.
If they pushed this buggy update just to make people buy a new phone- thats a dirty move.
As for buying a new phone, I'm currently waiting for upcoming releases, so I'll keep using my 5T in the meantime, but these bugs are super annoying.. Like, why, why push the last update for 5T with so many bugs, seriously, minimal QA, really disappointing.

I'll disappoint you, RAM usage is "****ty" on ALL android devices, it's philosophy of Linux which serves as base for androids. "Free ram is wasted ram" that's it...
All is not the bug there

Actually, inoperational call recording on Android 10 is not a bug but a deliberate choice not to allow people record their calls, and IMO evil one, by Google.

Same.
It's not allowed in my country, but you can easily activate it using jOnePlus Tools.
It worked great until the last update. Now it's activated but all the recordings has weird voice like you said. Except when using headphones, then I hear myself well, but not the other side.

A10 now is a waste . .
Cos many people who sent their phone to repair with A10 , got it back with A9.
The official site still doesn't have A10 .
Means A10 isn't worth flashing.
