I found LG's Battery Charging kit BCK-5200 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5C23SV
I haven't bought it but am thinking about buying it along with the phone someday soon. Does anyone have this or something similar? And is it realistic to just have a spare battery, charge that, and then swap batteries whenever appropriate? That way I wouldn't need the charge cord under daily use.
Realistic?

Because I bought the phone specifically because I wanted one with a removable battery, I also purchased the extra battery with charging kit when I purchased the phone. I thought it was always a good idea to have an already charged extra battery just in case the situation arose where I drained my battery and needed an immediate charge and did not have access to a charger and/or did not want to wait for the phone to charge, even with the fast charging.

I bought the cradle and extra battery when I got the phone. I think it's totally worth it and the only way to really use this phone. I hate waiting for my phone to charge so now I just swap batteries on the fly.
For the record, I bought my H918 as a certified refurbished device.
I found that the charger (with a type C outlet to the phone) that came with my phone was delivering a spotty current. The phone also came with one charge cord, with USB C on each end. That was going to be useless to me since all my other power sources were type A.
Since then I bought a set of 3 adapters so I could use all my micro USB cords. As it turns out, none of them are effective and deliver extremely low current and don't allow me to connect to my computer.
No matter, as I'd also ordered a different package of 2 spare batteries and a wall charger for one battery. The guidance said I should let the battery charge a full 12 hours before I swapped it in, so I did that.
Ever since then, my solution has been to just switch out the battery when it's empty, and by then the battery is charged. To clarify, I feel like the battery charges on the wall better than 12 hours empty to full, but even if that was an issue I'd still have another battery, and I'd still have the usual charge cord option.

i find this strange as i use the charging cable that came with my Lg G4 with a micro to C adapter and it charges around 13.5 W

The phone should fully charge in around 2h if fast charging is operational. Do bear in mind that the screen needs to be off for fast charge to work otherwise charging rate drops to 5W
I have the kit and that charges at around 8.5W which was a surprise to me as a similar kit for the G4 averaged half as much

Can anyone tell me why it takes so long to recharge my phone ?
I use a charger cable from my computer (usb) to phone while at work --- then I also use it at home too.
Is it only the wall charger that does it fast ? not USB/laptop/computer ?
Last night it took me 10 hours (phone was on but I didn't touch it for 10 hours - internet/wifi/3g was OFF)
why does it take 10 hours ?
Is something wrong with the phone? battery? or is it the charger ?
USB only has a small amount of current that goes through it. Enough to power small USB devices and no more. I believe it's around 500mAH. But your phone is always drawing power, so the excess is what actually charges your battery. Your wall charger is 1000mAH which means there is plenty of current to charge your battery even with heavy usage.
Tl;dr: USB is weak and 10hrs is normal. Wall charger is much more powerful and faster.

damn thanks for the great reply.
Further more, I was at my friends house once, and he has a black berry (same charger as my SGS3) and he passed me this cord to charge and it honestly charged the entire phone from 5% to 90% in like less than an hour...
not sure wtf this was but is it possible ? is it bad for the phone ? for the battery ?
10 hours is not normal. And the average wall charger that comes with your phone is 750mAH, not 1000. The 1000mAH chargers are quick charge ones.
The fact that the blackberry charger worked well on your S3 tells me that you should get a new charger.
where does one find one of the quick chargers to buy ? (1000mAH)
you can find all sorts of chargers on amazon. you can find inexpensive ones at walmart too. i would recommend buying a samsung charger for your samsung phone. hold onto the one that came with your S3, even if it takes forever to charge. just use it to connect to your pc for file transferring, odin, etc.
Even though charging quickly seems good but if you can afford the time then use the one you already have z charging too quickly affects your battery health negatively , a slow charger will make sure your battery stays healthy for a long time , mind it by slow I mean a 750 mAH one not a faulty one in case yours is faulty .

The S3 charger is 1000mAH. I have two of them that came with my phones. And anytime I connect my phone to my computer I can leave it connected for hours and only charge a few percent. This phone just draws a lot of power.

thats interesting because i have 4 samsung chargers. 2 came with my old S2's and 2 came with my 2 S3's. the output on all 4 is 700mAH. i got robbed. of course, connected to a PC the output is max 500. even at that, i still get a better charge than a few percent when connected to a PC for hours.
hey guys, I just got this LG Optimus G pro off of Craigslist, and while I'm sure that the phonewas worth the deal, I just got a few questions.
1.the battery life. I've been using it constantly, and I've managed to get it up to about 75 percent battery. When I check my battery usage,it says that I have about 4 to 5 hours of used before it dies. Is this normal? I'll read the reviews and it said that this thing had an awesome battery. I went ahead and ordered some brand of battery (lemon-something) that came with 2 standard amp batteries and a wall socket battery charger. so do I need these batteries because mine is drained or is that normal?
2. the wall charger. I do not currently have the original manufacturer charger, but I am using a LG branded wall block, with a SamsungUSB. It seems to charge it okay, but when I'll plug it in I've got to tilt it up just a bit, and then it will start charging, even after I let it go. I had some generic Motorola Droid charger plugged up to it, I didn't have to wiggle it around at all, but I had to quit using it because it didn't have enough output voltage to charge the phone. Is this an issue with my charging port, or just not having the original manufacturer charger and charging cable?
thank you so much for any replies and taking time out of your day to help me.

The battery life is awesome on here. Yes, it's probably because of your USB cable. I haven't used anything but the charger my phones have come with for well over a year and all worked perfectly. When it says 4-5 hours of use, that means actually using the phone. Not standby. Not sure how well the 3.1amp ZL batteries perform, but I have the 9300mAh one and I'm loving it. Days on a single charge and comes with a TPU case.

1) Battery life IS awesome. Turn on Quad Core Control in Battery settings to make the most out of your phone.
2) I also bought mine 2nd hand without the original charger. You only have to replace your USB cable coz it's probably worn out. I've used all sorts of chargers (generic car charger, samsung, nokia) and never had a problem with any of them.
I second the idea that at usb cable is bad.Im using a generic ul last for sb cord right now and it charges just fine and the charge will last for a full day or more depending on use
I have noticed that my phone charges super slow. A few times, while only surfing the web, my battery % went down while plugged into a wall charger. With the phone off, it would charge about 1% every 2 minutes. Surfing the web this morning for 15 minutes made absolutely no difference in battery %. I started when it reached 63% and 15 minutes later it was still 63%. I am using my old HTC charger, which was super fast with gs3. I dont know what the deal is. Can anyone do some testing? Screen brightness was at 50% while browsing.
Thanks

What's the amperage of the charger? Might not be enough for the G3 and its monster screen. The charger it comes with (based on what I'm seeing online) is 1.8 Amps.

I'd double-check that if I were you. It should be much higher than that otherwise (as you're seeing ) it would take forever to charge the battery. I believe the Optimus G Pro was 2.1 A so I think the 1.8 A I was seeing online sounds about right for the G3.

Ill doble check after work. I ordered a few new charging cables, one is 22awg charge only and the other is 24awg charge/sync. Maybe getting a few extra chargers would be a good idea. Does it matter if i get anything above 1.8A?
First thing to test would be trying the lg oem wall charger with the stock cable that came in the box. if it still doesn't charge properly then I would do a factory reset. I remember this issue when the N5 first came out and a factory reset fixed it
I got so many cables that in not sure which one came with the phone. I did get 2.1A charger just a bit ago.

I'm using the one from my G Pro (2.1A) and haven't had any problems with this phone or my last. Charge times are great and it's got a nice long cable.
The factory one is 1.8A which means it will take less than 2 hours to go from 0 to 100%. This however is dependent on what the phone is being used for during rid time. I've used a 2.0A charger without issue and both work fast. So if my math is correct to go from 0 to 100% will take ~100 minutes, thus 1.8A => ~30mah is charged per minute.
EDIT:
Also I checked on qualcomms website, and the max input rate SD801 SOC can charge at is 2.0A

I have a lot of issues charging with different cables and USB power sources. The stock cable works best on the stock charger, but also charges very fast on my Asus ultrabook with USB3.0 ports designed for charging.
Using basic cables in my car or on various other chargers/power packs, I get HORRID charge times. Do we need to get special cables or what? I bought a 2-amp charger from Sprint, and that cable also works wonderfully. Though for some reason the stock LG cable + 2.1-amp charger in my car can BARELY increase my battery % while driving. I have GPS and data running the whole time.
What concerns me is when I first bought the phone, it would charge just fine on ALL of my cables and power sources. It's like it got more picky over time, and I fear it's from that janky USB connection. The port seems offset, just as many others have reported here.

Have you ever figured out the slow charging issue? This is killing me. I love my G3 but I'm really considering selling it.
My phone is plugged up and it showed 19%, somehow it dropped down to 18%.

That wasn't the case with me. The original charger was the only one that can charge at 1.8a. All 2.1a that I got weren't even close. I bought 2 more g2 chargers and 3 kopi wires. Now there no issues. I want to try kopi wall charger. So far, their cords and car chargers are the only that actually work well.
I timed mine the other day and it charges a just over 1% per minute so slightly quicker than my Oneplus One and a fair bit quicker than my M8 all using their own chargers that came with the phones.

No. Simple math, 3000 / 1800 = 1.7. So 1.7 hours is the absolute minimal charging time, without any losses, which you will always have.
Also 80 minutes is simply impossible.

any chance you have something running and beating on the battery while charging and/or a bad charger or dirty charging port?
Well, I just got the phone. I used another charger and still the same issue. Maybe it's just the initial charge that took so long. We will see
I noticed that, but after a charge cycle or two it charged considerably quicker....
My first charge with the stock charger was about that long too. You'll be fine once you get wall/car chargers that are Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 certified.
Try an aftermarket charger, I never even attempted to use the one that came with my phone. I personally use Anker products because they are well built and have 5 year warranties. I now use a QC 2.0 certified Anker and go from 15-80 in a little under an hour.
I had to double-check that my M9 didn't actually come with a QC2-capable charger from VZW/HTC. It charges much, much faster than I'm used to, so fast that I timed it last night. It was down to 19% at 9:45pm when I plugged it in. It was not being used - if anything was running in the background, I don't know, but it would just be normal stuff. I checked it 2 hours later and it was at 100%. I don't know when it reached that either.
I've got a QC2 charger in my Amazon shopping cart but keep thinking I may not need it after all....
What’s the best way to charge the phone to maintain battery health?
1. Will Regular use of Warp charge cause any long term harm to battery?
2. Charging from ~10 to 100 (full charge) or keep it 30% to 70%
Other opinions say that newer batteries don’t need this kind of manual care, the circuitry takes care of it
Any tips?
I've had a lot of phones, cameras, and RC cars with lithium batteries (lithium ion in the first two and lithium polymer in the latter). Done a lot of research, and found out mainly lithium batteries don't like to be full or empty, they don't like heat, nor bring charged too quickly. People can say what they want about new tech, when I use any type of quick charge my phone gets hotter than if I use a normal 2.4a 5v charge.
I've read similar things about 30 to 70 or 80 percent, but that falls into the things I'm not willing to do category. I need my phone full when I leave for the day. And conversely, I don't like having my phone plugged in all night, if I go to bed at 9 it's full by 11 and sitting there at 100% until I wake up. To that end I bought a charger on Amazon for like $10 that shuts off once the phone is full. Sure, it's at like 96 or 97% when I wake up but whatever. Brand is 'Bull', it's white and has two buttons on the top to initiate the charge on either port. Been using it for three months and it works flawlessly.

Or try Battery Charge Limit app, if you are rooted. It lets you set when the charging will stop. Mine stops at 80% and only charges again if it drops below 75%.
I mean you can worry about all this but in reality, how long do you plan to keep the phone? On avg phone batteries lose charging efficiency around 6 months from what I've seen. Also the phones hardware stops charging the batt at 100pct and runs on AC power after that while plugged in.
If you keep it for years and years, this is why they make replacement batteries even for iPhones so just don't worry and keep it charged if that's what you want

I wish they would build that natively into Android. I don't generally root, but that's tempting. My laptop does something similar, desk use mode or something, stops charging at 60% and stays there. My wife's will actually let you set the upper threshold, Dell gaming G series I think.
