Multitasking gestures not working on Nougat - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

After the update to Nougat, my launcher (Action Launcher) lost the ability to use a gesture to launch multitasking. I waited to see if the app broke after the update, but testing newer versions and other launchers this specific behavior has remained. Other system level actions still work but multitasking is broken, and I was wondering how or even if it is possible to provide the correct access to the app to trigger the action. Thanks in advance.
P. S. I have reset the phone and cleaned cache in two separate occasions without success.

Home button no longer works 5.1 factory

I flashed 5.1 and it's kind of OK (although a few app stopped errors happen) but the home button only works from the task switcher screen. It doesn't work from any app. Tried with Launcher, tried with Nova Launcher. Also, setting Home in Nova Launcher to an app doesn't launch that app. Something eats my home clicks. But what? I do not use a custom keyboard.

You should probably wipe everything and do a fresh install of the latest factory image. From the force closes, it sounds like you flashed all all positions besides data... Or you're having issues with the touchscreen drivers, which is a widely known issue on flo... Look around in the general section, there are about four threads with good information annoy the touchscreen if that's your issue. You could also collect a logcat of the touch fail, limit the output so it's easy to find the error and determine the source of your issue... Just some ideas.

Update Auto Rotation Bug? Sticks in portrait

Update,
It is caused by many different apps, all very useful.
Cycling recent apps ( square key) frees up landscape.
Annoying behavior, a power button screen cycle resets. Anyone else notice this?
It happens in different apps. VZW phone on latest FW.
BTW I am trying to find a rotation helper app that can force 0* and 90* rotation only. Not 270* while 180* is normally excluded. Anyone?
This is missing the mark.

I think it is an incompatibility with many apps.
@aviwdoowks Did you make any progress in getting better screen rotation response? I was using NOVA launcher, and found I hadnt checked off "auto-rotate" under the NOVA settings.

I like notification toggles. It and others do not allow 0* and 90* only auto. But on the Z it is not such a bother as the Maxx.
The bug seems to be nearly all gone. ... I did take the Dec patch. Now I have OTA disabled, on my dash 1
Look at pic, I think it is my favorite UC browser causing the stick!
I Doooo not want to uninstall it.

Issues with some apps after android 10?

Curious if anyone else is experiencing issues with apps after the android 10 update
Specifically 3rd party launchers, and tasker.
launchers cannot display the recent apps screen properly is the main issue I found.
tasker cannot run certain variables because it isnt getting the information it needs. for example, %WIN variable.
anyone else experiencing this? Is this LG's version of android 10, or an android 10 issue in general?
I get the recent thing from nova launcher occasionally. After a restart it is really bad. But it eventually works again and all behaviors return to pre-10.
LG did the most asinine thing with their Android 10 build... they removed the recent apps code from the system and baked it into their stock Home launcher. If you use any launcher other than Home, when you try to open the recent apps, it's actually launching Home and displaying the recent apps that way. The only workaround I've found is to remove Home from power savings so that it's always in memory. Even that isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing.

The home app is responsible for recents and gestures always. I think other companies do exactly the same thing. There's usually a recents provider, which is the stock home app

If that were true, you would not be able to disable the stock launcher, which I have done on many phones with no issue.

Question Nova launcher Problems and floating windows and other bugs

Hi I have a new poco F3 8/256gb and it comes with Miui 12.0.2 but I have problems with nova launcher, the buttons recent app doesn´t work and only shows a blanck screen without any of the app. I tried with Apex launcher with the same resul. Then the icon for floating windows only apears on the control center icon and not on recent app, so the usability is very poor. Another problem I have is the bar of gesture on the botton of the screen sometime disapears and sometimes not. I search on the net and a tried, developer option miui optimitation with no positive results, hope Xiaomi release a new update soon.
It's a problem with poco launcher that broke recent apps if you install another launcher.
See here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...12-2-2-4-eu-version-android-11.4215795/page-2
I have installed the new version and it's ok now for me with Microsoft launcher
It's not miui, it's android 11. when i was using mi9t with PE, no third party launchers work really well. lawnchair and shady launcher do release their alpha versions and it's usable, not perfect, but, yeah, usable.
Lawnchair Alpha doesn't work, it's the same problem. The moment you enable Lawnchair gestures are disabled.
I had the same issue on my F3 with Nova Launcher
Thanks to @stevejc, I just installed Poco Launcher v2.20.1.26 and got back the recent apps in Nova !
But I have also lost floating windows !
thanks to @stevejc for his answer I update the poco launcher and my nova works perfect but I still have no floating window options in a recent panel. anyone can help me with this?
The only working tip is to use the quick settings button for each app.
I don't have also the icon in recent panel too.
Full gestures don't seem to work for me if I use custom launcher only traditional Dock navigation bar works. Even if you still insist using full gestures restart brings back old navigation. However I tried this app it seems to make full gestures work? Restart old navigation does still return but we can continue use full gestures. Can anyone confirm? If it works more than just me I might buy it.
Pls ignore the app I recommended. When it works it works but it can suddenly stop working. I am going back to poco launcher until there is a fix or someone recommend a working gesture app.
I installed FNG for gestures with poco launcher

sorry I can´t confirm because a I use the poco launcher now
I got a reply frm an xda developer. He develop gesture app for earlier androids. He said he can't help us. So I am guessing other gestures might not fully work either?
Guys more of you need to submit feedback / bugs complain I get the feeling xiaomi will not fix the full gesture with custom launcher issue. This their respond despite telling them oneplus has no issue with nova on android 11. I got a oneplus 7t pro.
Hi I'm using microsoft launcher and the app my gesture and it'working.
You can turn off or not the nav bar with setup gesture on miui setup page.

You have any issue of it suddenly stop working? I did. Its same with all others I tried they can suddenly stop working if I don't have 3 dot at bottom it be an issue. Mygesture suddenly stop working according to app accessibility stop responding I need to restart. Turning accessibility on off for it didn't work only restart did.
You need to avoid stop the app in recent apps screen (first icon).
Also I give the app the Start automatically authorization and no battery optimisation.
I have the same problem if I kill the app but with the previous settings it's OK.
I can hide the nav bar, only after reboot they come again.
To hide them add gesture in Miui settings

Question Screen taps missed

am I the only one that feels this?
happened with the Nov, Dec and Jan patch.
after you traverse from one screen to another ( same app, different apps, app to home screen ) there's no immediate tap registration on the screen, is like ... it gets registered like 500 millisecond ( half a second ) after the transition happens.
am I the only one noticing this?
despite what I try ( increased sensitivity, etc ) nothing changes.
feedback?
thoughts?
things to try if I'm not crazy?
I have also the same issue any suggestions for this so please reply. Thanks in advance.

Are you using a third-party launcher like Nova Launcher and navigating with gestures?
If yes, this incredibly annoying delay has been an issue since Android 11 and is present on several devices running Android 11 or higher. Even Nova made an official statement that there's nothing they can do about it.
For now, the only 'fix' is to use the stock launcher (with all its limitations) unfortunately

omg ... amazing.
so I guess I'll learn to unfortunately live with this nonsense delay.
I will not lose double tap to lock screen from nova
I had same issue with Nova. I solved it through:
a) Using Navbar instead of gestures
b) Hide navbar (using fabricated overlays)
c) Using FNG (from play store) to handle gestures
However, for (b) you must be rooted and you will need a Magisk module with a startup (service.sh) script which generates the overlays at boot time. On the january build, fabricated overlays are removed at every boot!
I have now absolutely no issues any more with 'missed' screen taps. Also the annoying white screen flash which sometimes occur when using Nova is totally gone for me.
too bad everything needs to be done rooted.
I'm not rooting for now
