How do you protect your phone? - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

I just wanted to know how you guys rock your phone.

Case and tempered glass screen protector

I have a magnet on my dashboard & of course any iron or steel surface is a sticky mount. I even left it on my car top for wiz around the freeways.
The red version is sans any carbon black. This "dye" is what makes the black version have such a short life. The red needs a sometimes, weekly scrubbing.
I also have the Sparin glass, fabulous it is.

Only with the style shell, nothing else

I do not use any protection.

[Review] White Smart Touch Skin

First off thanks to juggamonkey for sharing the link to ebay for this. Smart Touch Skin
I ordered this last Monday and i got it on Saturday for $6. I had only planed on using the front decal as i am sanding my spare and painting it white (Thanks to JuggarMonkey)
The package came with two pieces of paper. Paper one was instructions (this is a dry application) and paper two was the sheet with the stickers.
The application was pretty easy about 5-10 minutes , you could take it back up and realign it as much as i needed with no sticky residue.
Likes :
Easy application
If you mess up you can fix it
Cheap
If your lazy its a nice way to mod your phone
Dislikes:
The edges of the battery cover are not covered and leaves a black edge.
Can feel the ridges when swiping across the screen
Hard to align the lights on the bottom buttons.
All in all i think this was a good buy and would suggest you buy one if you are looking for that thing to have you stand out from the crowd.
Looks sexy! Just ordered one of those decals.
Post yours whenever you get it.

Are you using a screen protector with this as well? I'm using realook screen protector and it makes the touch keys less sensitive. Does this effect them as well?

Diztronic and screen protector

Hey guys just received my matte black diztronic case from amazon! Love it. But like others here have mentioned the zagg HD screen protector doesn't play so nice with this case so I have 2 questions.
1) I am currently using the screen protector that came with the case and the edges don't seem to stay down. And tricks to getting them to lay flat?
2) Do you guys think its necessary to use a screen protector with this case and if so which ones would you guys recommend to use that would fit with this case?
I can post some pics of the case if anyone wants. Have the pebble blue gs3 but I think there's already been quite a few posted.

I don't have my diztronic case yet but maybe you can tuck the screen protector under the case lip?
I would definitely use a screen protector. I've already managed to scratch my screen somehow. Gorilla glass 2 is not scratch proof.

I purchased the Diztronic black matte case with screen protector also. How are your sides not staying down with that screen protector? The included screen protector is a protector that doesn't extend all the way to the edges. I had the same combination on my phone and I had no problems.
I'm now using the Body Glove tpu case with a Reearth screen protector. This combo has been the best so far. Be sure you don't use any wet application screen protectors with a tpu case. They do not play well together and the edges of the screen protector will start to bubble up as the tpu case edges push against the screen protector edges.
Also, most dry application screen protectors for this phone do not extend to the edge of the phone because the edges of the phone curve downward. So if you have a dry application screen protector that extends to the edge, then chances are you will have a problem with the edges staying down as a result of the downward curve of our phone around the edges. There is a company currently manufacturing dry application screen protectors designed to fit the the downward curve of our phones along the edges, however these are currently in pre order.

To be honest I'm not sure why its not staying down. I have bubbles that go to the edge of the screen on the top left and it appears that the whole right edge of the screen protector is not down. Not matter how much I push it down it comes right back up. And I have the protector centered almost perfect on the screen so it shouldn't be because its sloping down because the other side is doing fine so well.
Anyone have any other screen protectors that work with this case? Or even wet ones that don't get close to the edge?

My Clarivue screen protector works fine with the case. It is cut small though, I don't mind it but I know some people do.

Small Screen Protector

Hey guys I'm looking if there's a screen protector that covers just the screen. I'm looking to order a matte black decal to cover the front of the phone around the screen to match my black UAG case (favorite case so far btw, its amazing!!! If you havent tried it your really should. 8th case is the charm? Lol). But right now I have the spigen curved screen protector on and I still want one when I put the from decal on just wondering what you guys would recommend. I'm a little hesitant to put a screen protector over the skin or vice versa. Or is there any skins that include a screen protector??
PS the curved screen protector works awesome with this case. You can't even tell there's one on there and there is no bubbling or edges being pushed up. I will post more about this in the UAG case forum when I get a chance to get some pics and stuff.

Best I can think of would be getting a universal screen protector. Downfall is they aren't going to be as good as the name brand protectors, but pretty much like the cheap generic china made protectors you get off of ebay.
Upside is they usually come with multiple (3-5) sheets that you can cut out your self. Otherwise I was unable to find exactly what your looking for (nor heard of any). Maybe someone else has though, wait and see.

Case, screen protector? Or both?

What do you use. What's your setup? Idk how I feel about using a case and no screen protector. I feel as if it defeats the purpose of protection

Wet Screen Protector, Leather Sleeve
Spigen ultra fit and the screen protector that came with it
The case is too tight and scratch the left top corner. My advice is to keep the case on and never take it off. Or use a soft case like a tpu.

Case took only a few days to get used to and it's worth it. Helps when the materials are soft touch as on the Fusion Hybrid.
The screen protector is nice having the piece of mind but the plastic ones can never be as smooth as glass.

Shellster case for my N5
Hi
I use this shellster case for my N5 and for still I have not used any screen protector on my N5 as it protects my phone completely it does not let the screen to touch surface even when I put it on the table even from the screen behalf...it has a 180 stand view that also makes me comfortable for media viewing in both mode in landscape and portrate and it also ensures the safety of my phone quite well too..so I like this case and would recommend too...the only thing I just need to update in it is to have some protection in the lower end as it is open from their...but that hardly effects as it covers the corners properly...so simply I have a case with a combo of Holster and Kick stand....So I just love it and quite happy with it.....
I was using an extreme guard screen protector...but it was coming up at the corners and looked pretty aesthetically displeasing so I took it off a few days ago.. the bare glass is so nice and smooth to the touch... I think I will let the Gglass do it's job until I have to run into my old nemesis quartz sand when I go to Florida this spring break

I bought a spigen ultra hybrid and was using it until a few days ago and now I'm using no case and spigen screen protector. I love the feel of the nexus 5 without a case.

Yea man, works like a charm. I have my dad using the same set up for his s2 & my husband & I using them for our nexus 5s. Don't wanna jinx anything but phones have been dropped & everything & no marks.

No case, no screen protector.
First we don't need a screen protector, the screen is hard enough to protect from friction.
Second you'll waste the original back of N5, course the touch feeling of any other case cannot be better than the skin like material.
That's my opinion:fingers-crossed:

Actually, the screen can very easily scratch, all it takes is a bit of sand or dust in your pocket. Glass is harder than steel, so keys are not a concern, but most sand is silicon, which is the same hardness as glass, and some sand or dust can even be corundum or diamond, and there is just no way to stop that from scratching any surface.

Ringke slim, no screen protector
I think the case has the same feel as the phone itself, and stays true to the design.
Xtremeguard screen protector + Cruzerlite Bugdroid case.
I might change the screen protector to a glass protector.

DBrand skin questions

I recently stumbled onto the DBrand skin website and I am very impressed! I can actually turn my black 2XL into the white colour I wanted originally!
Do these skins protect the phone if I drop it or is more for just an appearance thing? How long do the skins last on the phone before they start to peel away? Can they be removed without any damage to the phone?
It's basically expensive tape.
I have the black camo version.
I guess it could prevent a scratch, as it's covering the area, but no more than that.
I've used these things on two phones, one for a year, and it never started to peel away. Not even a bit.
They come off cleanly, no adhesive left behind etc.
What I did was get the red dragon skin back piece and installed it. Then I put my phone in a Ringke Fusion case. The skin adds some style, and the Fusion protects from the occasional drop. If you place the back piece right and let it sit overnight before installing the Fusion, you'll have no issues with it coming off. I remove and clean my case once a month or so, and the skin underneath still looks great with no lifting anywhere

I am on my 2nd dbrand skin. My first one was great for 5 months, then one of the corner tabs started to lift and would not stay down even with tacky glue. My 2nd one looks exactly the same as the day I installed it (pristine, and no lifting). If you don't like bulky cases and you aren't constantly dropping your phone, then you will probably love dbrand skins. But they are just big decals, and do not provide the same protection as even the cheapest silicone case. I have dropped my phone on bathroom tile and the dbrand skin looks the same, but I wouldn't be surprised if the frame is slightly dented or cracked underneath. The skin did a fantastic job of hiding any damage. If you decide to purchase a skin, heat the tabs with a hair dryer or heat gun *before* applying it. The instructions tell you to use a heat source after applying it. But also heating them *beforehand* makes them conform and stick better.
