Friends, I am using htc one m8 ul unlocked developer edition in india, and installed S.Rom S.Team-S5.2-X10.5.8.8u, i need to enbale indian 4g bands on my m8 please give good suggestions. thanks.
Typical procedure is to flash another version's radio baseband firmware, which supports the desired bands. This requires s-off, which costs $25 by sunshine app (only working method - firewater doesn't work and hasn't for 2 years, so don't bother trying). May (likely) also need to change CID.
However, there are a couple of important caveats here. First of all, I don't know what (if any) versions of the M8 support LTE Bands 40 and 41. They are not commonly supported bands on this device.
Second, even when the desired bands are supported in firmware, we've seen a lot of cases where devices from another region, still will not work on the local LTE network. Getting 3G is relatively easy, but LTE seems to be much more difficult. No solution that I've seen for this. So the money spent for s-off may end up wasted.
Typically, the best way to ensure full network connectivity, is to purchase a device designed for your specific carrier/region.

How to know which LTE band?
Hi!
I know that this has been talked before, but I could not find anything that works.
I have bought a HTC M8 dual sim in switzerland. Back in Argentina, I tried to make 4G work, and, of course, it doesn't.
I have read that there is some chance to change the band, by the qualcomm.
so.. how do I know which band(S) does my phone have?
Thanks in advance!
I use "LTE Discovery" App. Available on the Play Store.

According to this webpage, it supports LTE bands 3, 7, 8 and 20. And according to list of LTE bands by country on Wiki, Argentina uses LTE band 4. So it makes sense that you don't have LTE.
While radios are typically interchangeable among "regular" GSM M8 versions (s-off required to flash radios); this is not true for the Dual SIM. So while you are correct that band support is software based on the Snapdragon 801, the normal method to change bands is to flash another carrier version's radio. I don't think you have another version's radio to flash. Some folks have modified the the NV values on the CDMA M8 to change band support. But to my knowledge, nobody has gotten this to work on non-CDMA versions of the M8 (the changes just revert themselves after reboot).
I suspect you are out of luck. This is really something you should have researched before buying the phone.

I kind of did. This is an fantastic mobile, besides the LTE detail; and by buying it in europe I've spent less than half of its price in Arg. pitifully.. I need the dual SIM. So, still a win win.
I will try to modify the NV values with QXDM... maybe i still have some luck left.
thanks =D
Hi,
Does the German HTC One M8 has a Multi-band support for american networks?
thx
For T-Mo and AT&T, yes.
For Sprint and Verizon, no.
How can I find out which Version do I have? (I have bought it on ebay)
install adb & fastboot
reboot to fastboot
type " fastboot getvar all " in cmd
post the result after removing serialno and imei
Checked the mid. Bad luck Verizon :/ thanks anyway

Meaning what, the US network you want to use is Verizon?
If so, than you need a Verizon version phone. No way around that, they don't have a GSM based network, its CDMA.
Also, even for AT&T and T-Mob US, a Euro version M8 won't have all the bands needed for LTE. Although, 3G and voice/SMS should work fine.
good
I have the same problem?
siemre I used htc one m8 since 2014 and recently bought another because he had sold it turns out that changing operator in my country, El Salvador.
which it is the company Digicel and using the band 900 Mhz to 4G.
It is to change the m8 and is supposed to be international version but it turns out it's version of att as I can do to release the bands and use it with any operator.
greeting
This is not remotely the same problem. The OP has the German version, want to use it on a US network, possibly a CDMA one (Verizon - although that part is not clear per my comment above).
I'd return the phone, if you can. There is no guarantee you can get LTE 900 MHz running properly on this device. At a minimum, it would cost you $25 US to s-off by sunshine (unless its already s-off), and then you can flash a different radio baseband firmware. Even then, its not a sure thing that it will work on your LTE network. I've seen plenty of cases where phones properly "converted" to the proper band support, still won't work on the desired LTE band.
So the money for s-off may just be wasted (plus the time and effort). Plus, if the phone is not previously modified, you may be voiding whatever return/refund rights you have (if you have any).
I bought a new HTC 10 on ebay and it's the unlocked international version. I didn't realize there is a US unlocked and International variants, I assumed carrier unlocked was an international variant. I'm on Tmobile which aparently uses some band that I'm not able to pick up and therefore I've been relegated to hspa for my data. Quite disappointing.
Can I S-Off and change to either Super CID or the TMobile CID and flash the radio and firmware for T-Mobile and get the phone to pick up the LTE so i can get my high speed data?
I can't find anywhere that tells me if the hardware is the same and that the radio is software configurable and therefore can activate the AWS bands with the correct radio/firmware/ruu or something of the like..
Did I totally blow it buying the int'l version of the 10 unlocked, or can I hack it to run properly on Tmobile LTE?

Yes you can do that. Get S-Off, change your CID and MID and flash US Unlocked.

OK. so I did all that and am now running unlocked us firmware. I think I'm having the LTE reception issues I had read about. flashing the T-Mobile ruu should fix that right?
Ps
Thanks a million for the prompt replies BTW. I've had this phone for a couple minutes and I feel good to finally get things working like they should be.

I can't vouch for the ruu fixing your lte issues. I've seen mixed reporting around for stuff like this. I would try it and see if it works.

Well, T-mobile has been doing upgrades on the network and there has been a lot of space weather causing power outages and hiccups in other electronic devices. My home WiFi has been connecting and dropping left and right! I too have the T-mobile version of the HTC 10 but I did unlock the SIM and did the full conversion to the North American unlocked developer version and it has been absolutely issue free!! You might want to double check to see if the radios in the International version are using band 12,and band 4 for LTE... I lost my LTE after a long run doing the same thing with the original HTC One M7
I feel your pain

Unfortunately HTC enabled/disabled certain LTE bands in the modem firmware depending on the region. The unlocked international doesn't play nice with T-mobile AWS. Flashing the RUU doesn't change the NV values in the modem, so you'll still be stuck with HSPA for the most part. I'm in AZ, and I can get band 12 and sometimes the non-AWS band 4, but neither are super fast. The snapdragon 820 does support all the necessary bands, they just need to be unlocked. We have the issue that qualcomm has put protection on the LTE firmware, so the old way of using QXDM/QPST doesn't work like it did on the 810 and earlier chipsets. There's some other threads on here that thing a custom kernel might open up the possibility of using the QXDM to edit NV values to unlock the necessary bands.
Hi all, I've been reading a few threads trying to find out if it's possible to enable band 4 on an international version of this phone. I don't have it right now, I'm thinking of buying it. It's quite low on amazon right now, 418$. And only downside is my carrier uses band 4.
So is it truly possible? I've seen some people did it but haven't really specified how.
Thanks a lot!
You're better off just paying a little more for a US unlocked version that has band 4 or buying a carrier specific version. There's been a lot of talk and discussion as to whether bands can be unlocked on the HTC 10, and while there is no final yes or no answer, there does not seem to be a clear guide on how unlock LTE bands at this point, at least not without a completely custom kernel or having to do some highly technical tweaking using a lot of programs. I would highly recommend not purchasing a foreign device in hopes of unlocking bands. Try buying a used device in near or perfect condition instead if you're trying to save a little money.

I will go for the US version or another phone then. Don't want to mess around with yo highly technical things.
Thanks a lot!
I'm in almost the same boat, except I bought what I thought was a US unlocked phone,. and what I received from Swappa was an international. I'm pretty upset because I don't know how likely they'll accept a return. Now if I can add band 4 through some method or other, with a hopefully straightforward (complicated is ok) procedure, then I'd be fine with keeping it.

The closest method I've seen to being able to unlock bands requires a few things: root, TWRP, s-off, and a custom Verizon based rom (Leedroid or Viper).
Essentially, you need a Verizon based rom because the phone is unable to unlock bands through GSM and only able to unlock bands through CDMA, which means Verizon (being a CDMA based wireless operator) would allow this. Once the ROM is loaded, you'd have to use QXDM and DFS tools to change the NV value that would give access to the bands you're looking for (there should be a thread or two on this, one of which is called "Unlock LTE Bands on the HTC 10 forums and another called "[How To] Edit All Networks on ALL M9's" that kind of serves as the foundation regarding most attempts at editing bands.). T
Theoretically, following these steps would allow access to other LTE bands, but I haven't seen anyone post a 100 percent straight forward guide from start to finish that illustrated gaining specific LTE Bands, which leads me to think that there's currently no way to conclusively add LTE bands without a custom kernel built from the ground up. All of the threads kind of stop halfway in their tracks indicating that no one has officially found a way to add LTE bands. Some people have claimed to of done so but have provided no evidence on how they've achieved this or what steps (start to finish) they did to accomplish this. The information is all over the place regarding this, so until someone finalizes a guide that goes through the process start to finish, I would recommend seeing about returning the phone. This phone has also been out for quite some time, so at this point, I don't know if an official method will ever be created to implement other LTE bands.
I don't know how this works through Swappa since I haven't used it personally, but if you can, I'd return the phone.
My phone fully supports LTE,even the sim card i use is 4G compatible, but somehow i'm not able to use it.And yes,i'm in LTE covering area.Any ideas?
Was LTE working for you before?
What I recommend first is to try your sim on another lte capable phone and/or sim with working lte on your phone

How do you know this? There is no M8 version that supports all LTE bands in all regions.Every M8 version supports different LTE bands, based on the region/version (carrier ID).
In particular, if you are using an M8 version intended for another region, it may be difficult of impossible to make it work on LTE on your local carrier's network.

LTE B3 (1800 +).Not sure if it is EU or US
What OS number in bootloader? Does it say s-of or s-off in bootloader?
Assuming it is T-Mob US (which would be more common than T-Mob Europe): As I already said, making LTE work on a device that is intended for another region can be difficult, or even impossible. You would need s-off to "convert" it to EU. S-off (if it isn't already) can only be achieved with sunshine, which costs $25. And it may be money wasted, since a lot of times, we've seen when the M8 is converted to another version, LTE will still not connect to the local carrier's network.

I'm S-Off(written the same way in bootloader). So at least it's worth a shot.
