Error 7 when attempting to flash ROM - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

I'm trying to replace the stock ROM on my phone in an attempt to find out if another ROM has fixed a set of really annoying bugs present in stock. My phone is running the latest OTA from OnePlus (ONEPLUS A3000_16_170610).
I've followed the following steps:
Flash the latest versions of TWRP and SuperSU. Reboot several times.
Disable lockscreen security.
Boot to recovery and do a full backup.
Reboot and copy new ROM and Gapps to /sdcard.
Reboot to recovery.
Wipe dalvik, system, data, and cache.
Attempt to install the ROM. At this point, I get the following error:
Code:
Checking for MODEM build time-stamp 2017-06-27 21:43:31
assert failed: op3.verify_modem("2017-06-27 21:43:31") == "1"
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/RR-N-v5.8.4-20170806-oneplus3-Official.zip'
This example is using the latest Resurrection Remix ROM, but I've also gotten the exact same error from the latest LineageOS.
What's wrong?

[Q] problems with flashing ARHD, what's going wrong?

first time posting here, and it's my first time trying to root my phone.
i used the toolkit, and that went without any problems. the phone was rooted and unlocked, and I downloaded CWM.
After I dl'ed CWM, I downloaded the ROM Android Revolution HD. There were two files I downloaded, the actual rom itself, and the firmware that comes alongside with it. They are both zip files, and I placed them both into my phone's storage.
I booted CWM, and chose to flash the actual ROM first. That worked fine, and I thought I should flash the firmware as well. Some error came up, and it said it was aborted. No big deal, so I reboot, and it shows the screen of the phone trying to boot for at least 30 minutes.
I restart my phone, and then I flash the ROM again. Tried it again, and I'm going to leave it attempting to boot into the ROM over night.
If I wake up with this problem still, what is a method to work around this?
okay it seems that i can not restore my phone back to the factory settings, and I can't connect to a mobile network.
the phone does now boot into android revolution HD, but I just need to figure out why I can't get on a mobile network
Welcome kyro- okay usually ARHD has 2 files and one is the ROM itself and the other may be the Superwipe file, they are both .zip files but perhaps you are confusing the Superwipe file with a firmware file (I am going from memory here so bear with me)
If this is the case go into CWM again and flash the Superwipe FIRST then flash the Rom file.
I am hoping it's something simple like this.
Just a suggestion
LL13-
i wish it was that simple, but i seem to have messed my firmware up in some way. everything else works fine, except for the radio. Baseband version is unknown at the moment, after wiping data cache system battery and using the super wipe as well.
from the website, here are the three links to download from
Firmware package
Flash it in recovery by selecting "apply update.zip from /sdcard"
Firmware package contains newest radio and bootloader for 4.0.x ROMs
Android Revolution HD 4.0.0

Super Wipe Lite
This script will erase and format your system and cache partition using EXT4 file-system
It will also wipe /data partition, but /data/media (virtual SD card) will be untouched

when i flash it in recovery mode, this is the error
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "maguro" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "maguro"
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

so i can't connect to a mobile network until this is properly installed i'm assuming.

FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT4_ zip - ERROR

I recently tried to flash JellyMIUI_3.1.11_v2 custom rom on my HTC Desire HD.
Install instructions suggest to install FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT4_ zip from sd card.
When attempting to intall full wipe i get the following error:
-Model ID - HTC Ace
-Ok to proceed
Now preparing for a clean install of any EXT4 ROM
Please be patient
1st boot may take a few minutes
-Formatting Data
-Formatting System
E: Error in /sdcard/FULL_WIPE_1.5_EXT_.zip
(status 1)
Installation aborted
Does anyone know why I would be getting this error or how to fix?
Despite this error I am still able to install the JellyMIUI_3.1.11_v2 custom rom although GPS does not work (not sure if this related)

I does not even use that wipe script... just go to recovery and select "wipe everything except sdcard".. and then flash the rom.. works perfectly
GPS does not work: Check whether autorotation working or not
if it does not, flash the stock rom first before flashing jellymiui rom..
if it does, then the problem maybe lies on the hardware(attenna problem) or need a gps.conf fix..

I had that same problem when I used CWM recovery. I switched to TWRP and everything was ok. You could try that

[solved] Cant update to new CM rom?

Hi, I got a notice on CM updater that there was an 10.2 update so I dloaded it and let CM do its thing. Upon reboot everything seemed a little squirrley so I decided I was just going to do a clean flash.
Booted into recovery, wiped everything, but now every rom I try to flash gives me "set metadata recursive: some changes failed. Error executing updater binary n zip [path]" no matter what I try?
Any clue as to what is going on here?
edit: I can get in and out of recovery. I can push via adb. Also wiped via fastboot -w.
thx
EDIT: ended up getting everything back to stock and starting over. Thanks for looking.
Try updating your recovery (CWM/TWRP) to the latest.
Sent from Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G @ CM11
updated to latest TWRP.
I'm getting errors about it being unable to mount /sdcard when I attempt to flash...
Ok it turned out I installed an older version of TWRP.
Flashed 2.6.3.2
When I attempt to flash a new rom I get this:
updating partition details.......
Full SELinux support is present
E: Failed to decrypt data
Formatting Cache using make_ext4fs fucntion.
Updating partition details...
E: Failed to wipe dalvik
Updating partition details...
Error flashing zip /sdcard/cm-11 nighty blah blah
Updating partition details...

Am I screwed at this point? Do I need to revert everything back to original somehow? Kind of lost here at the moment.
thx

(Solved) L310: rooted but unable to install CM12.1 - Error-Message included

Hi,
after giving 4.4.2-StockROM a (long) try, I wanted to install [SM-T31X][5.1.1] CyanogenMod 12.1 unofficial build (by tohenk).
I followed the instruction for TWRP-Installation and the one for CM12.1 by tohenk.
Doing so, I installed TWRP via Odin 3.09 (successful).
To root the T310, I had to install the zip "ROOT_SGT3_8.0.zip". (also successful)
Reentering TWRP to flash the CM12.1-zip, I selected the file from internal SD-Card, getting a warning that the file shall not be compatible - having had the same with the root-zip, i swiped to install.
Resulting in the error (got a screenshot, but can't link it - to few posts):
"Can't install this package on top of incompatible data. Please try another package or run a factory reset.
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/fw/cm-12.1-20151018-UNOFFICIAL-lt01wifi.zip'
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/fw/cm-12.1-20151018-UNOFFICIAL-lt01wifi.zip"
... as offered by TWRP, i reset the Dalvik-Cache, rebooted. All Apps have been reinitialized, rebooted again into TWRP, getting the same Error.
So I installed philz_touch_6.08.9-lt01wifi.zip - but getting the same Error...
At the moment, I'm stucked with rooted StockROM...
..what did I miss?
(thanks for any help)

Edit:
Found the error:
prepareing the Flash-Procedure, I did a "factory reset" from within StockROM-Settings.
After performing a Factory-Reset out of PhilzTouch and wiping Dalvik-Cache (without rebooting the GT3 after Wiping), I was capable to install the CM12.1-zip, which runs perfectly fine now...
(somewhere it should be mentioned "do the factory reset from recovery, not from within ROM"
tohenk: you did a wonderful Job on the CM12.1-ROM! Thank you!!
I'm having the same issue.... so I installed Philz_touch_6.19.3 but I still can't flash any of the ROM's for T310...
Do you have any suggestions?
My tablet start up to SAMSUNG TAB 3 logo and stuck there...

Question Working TWRP but can't install ROM

TWRP 3.7.0_12-0 is installed on slot A and B and remains after rebooting. With ADB I can push files to the sdcard and I can see them under install but I'm not able to install a ROM (error message without any details).
I think something with the partitions isn't ok but I don't know what and how to repair this. In addition to the partitions you can see on the screenshot of the Backup part there are VBMeta System and Super partitions with 0 MB.
Which partitions should be mounted? Only Data is mounted, USB Storage also isn't mounted.
Please post a screenshot of the error message, and say the procedure that you've used, to install TWRP and to try and install the ROM.
I think, I tried everything possible to install again crDroid. So I don't know for sure, which way I installed TWRP (most probably with ADB sideload).
Installing the ROM
- push crDroid.zip /sdcard within TWRP (but not in the sideload modus)
- same with NikGapps an Magisk
- flash crDroid in TWRP
Maybe I didn't see before - today I got the nmessage ERROR: 1
- I'll try to fix this with the help of this article https://www.droidwin.com/fix-twrp-error-1/ but I don't know how to find out the firmware installed in twrp?
Update:
I could install Magisk without problems. Flashing crDroid stops then with: Error applying update: 7 (ErrorCode:: kInstallDeviceOpenError)
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
