Hello everybody!
I created a simple mod for LiveView geared towards minimalism lovers. It is based off the most current LV app version, and will be kept up to date as the updates (hopefully) come by.
All feedback will be greatly appreciated. Please leave your comments, notes, advices, etc.
Changelog:
20/07/2011: Initial release, v0.1b
Featuring:
Minimalistic icons for the menu, B&W only
Cleaned up "Choose tiles" menu, now showing all checkboxes in a row
Brand new application icon to fit the theme
Small changes in the app strings
Added more Facebook polling frequencies
Future plans/ideas:
- Adding notification icon to make LV app run in the foreground thus help keep it alive [As soon as I get to know how to do it, since I'm just starting my devving adventure ]
- Bluetooth check and toggle accessible thru app menu
Credits:
- WPZOOM for the icon set
Enjoy!
Place holder.
Also, attaching few screenshots of the app itself.
Nice! Looks awesome! If you can give it a notification icon as well then you might achieve deity status! Once I can find where I've put my LV I'll give this a go!
Good effort!
i like it!
it is pretty similar to a mod i made LONG ago (we both like simple black and white icons ) but yours is way more impressive. reminds me to update mine
Hi,
Thanks for your kind words. Please be kind enough to test the app and provide some feedback, especially about the icons. RSS feed icon seems a bit off for me, I might have to work a little bit more with it. And the smaller interior icons, they still remain unchanged for now.
Thanks!
strage! i, too have not figured out how to solve a small problem with the rss icon. the blacks were dark brown but it was only for the rss...
Hi again,
I'm currently working on that RSS icon. As for the notification icon, this seems way too complex for my current state of knowledge. I thought that it would be as easy as adding a few code lines to xml files, silly me. I need to study android developer guide thoroughly before I can even think about doing it. Way to go. Also, I need a new PC, since even my HTC Dream loads xda forums on browser faster than it, forget about serious development.
If any developer stumbles upon this post and could give me a hint where to start with adding the ongoing notification icon to the app, please do not hesitate to post here or PM me. Any help will be appreciated.
I'm having three weeks off from this monday (holidays finally), but then I'm back for modding
First of all, i know that this is a gravedig.
But i just got my LiveView yesterday, got it cheap and wanted to see what it could.
And therefore, i want to say a big THANK YOU, because you'r app just made my LV see all the plugins i installed!!
Furthermore, the design is great!
Thank you!!
Litlle question, is it easy to change the lv theme?

OMG,GOOD!i'll try for sure,seems very featured!thanks man!
This is compatible with 4.0.4???
why don't try and report?
Slick. 4.0.3 with morfic kernal. Gave u first review on market. Could be marketed towards anyone with a disability also (one hand) but also great with nexus prime because of larger screen and i have good sized hands. I can palm a basketball but laying in bed makes this too easy. No awkward reaching across the screen.
Add a shortcut to go straight into settings. Don't need the more button. More button makes me have to reach over to left side of screen destroying purpose of easiness when I need to edit something in settings.
5star in market

My new nexus comes Tuesday and this will be my first purchase
If backup turns out to be difficult don't worry about it as I'll screenshot my set up and do it manually

Firstly,
What are the best top 10 Paid & Free apps you would recommend/ Would say you could NOT live with-out?
What are the best mods that you currently use/ you would recommend? (i.e theme mods and lock screens, icon mods etc)
Secondly, I bought the nexus as i like to customize! and i have browsed around but failed to find a guide on how to adjust icons on ics on the nexus, im looking to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1493269.
your help is greatly appreciated

The best mods for me come from the Roms themselves. I'm currently running AXI0M Crossbreed (AOKP 4.0.4 Kang/Hybrid), but AOKP build 27 and GummyNex 0.8.1 are also very cool. My three favorite themes are Black Exodus by Nitroz, Amoled Blue, and ICS&Black.
You can use Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher to modify your icons on your homescreen. Also, Desktop Visualizer can do this too!
Any questions, just ask. =]
First welcome to the world of android and welcome to the Galaxy Nexus . Second work your way over to the "Post your screen shot" thread of any forum and have a field day . You will be surprised at what you can do with these phones and set ups people run . I have seen both sides of the fence Apple/Android . In terms of setting up the phone to look the way you want it , in my opinion Android wins hand down everytime . You can keep the screens as minimal as you want or pack the hell out of them with widgets and apps . The sky is the limit and have fun with it . Im not totally knocking Apple they have their place in the world . But to put it in a metaphore : Apple is like a resturant that makes a really kick ass dinner . Android is a buffet that has kickass everything on it that you can pick and choose whatever you want and set it up however you want .

Damn anton2009. You must have almost the exact set up as I have. I fully agree with all the above.
Hi guys, got it in my hand ! loving it so far ! would you be able to point me into the direction of being able to mod it for custom icons as per my original post? i have downloaded nova launcher, thank you !
I just got my Gnex a few days ago and I highly recommend installing the Gummy ROM. It has several features that would be so hard for me to live without now that I have them! One is if you hold down the power button to bring up the power menu there is an option to disable the soft keys. Not only does it give you full use of the screen, it prevents people from accidentally hitting a button when you hand them your phone to look at something. You can also customize the soft keys in the settings, I can't live without my search key!

OK, before you can just go modding anything, you will have to unlock the bootloader and root your phone. Then you can customize to your hearts content. Right now, without root, the only customizations you can use are the different launchers in the Market and themes made for them, like ADW launcher and it's themes or Go Launcher is another popular one. I suggest reading. Then after that read some more. When you get done reading some more, go read some more. THere are dangers in rooting and flashing roms and themes, but the benefits far outweigh the bad. Don't just go into it blindly though. Make sure you know what rooting is, why you should do it and the risks and rewards involved. Get the most out of your phone with root, but like I said, make sure you read about it and don't just do it or you'll be starting a new thread saying....'Hey, My phone won't boot up, it just plays the bootscreen over and over. HAAALPPP!!!!'
This was my first Android device too. I highly suggest unlocking the bootloader and rooting before you start to customize your device. This is why you got a Nexus right?

i REALLY like this, i think it just needs a few little tweaks and it will potentially forever be my first loaded app after a flash
I find the trigger point for swiping sometimes covering buttons a bit ang gets activated without fully intending. What about maybe making it activate on a triple click, or maybe a double click, with the slide on the second click? Dont know how well they would work, but just some thoughts i had to try to solve that issue.
Ahhh whilst just reloading it i noticed the home double click option, i'll give that a whirl
The other thing is that i woiuld like to be able to make the scrolling bars maybe be a little less themed. I've been checking out some similar programs and i just find the scrolling to not quite be as good on this. I'm thinking if the bars were simplified a bit, it could perhaps help that? or maybe it might be drawing them as an overlay, rather than actually using a full side of the screen for example. I do a lot of coding, but havent done any on android, so i've got some ideas, but just not sure if they would necessarily make much of a difference or not.
I'm just about to reload it now, but i'm just trying to remember if there is any sort of option to add shortcuts/actions etc to tabs, rather than just apps, something else to consider perhaps.
there are people complaining in the play store about it being a home launcher, i dont quite get what they mean, (yes it has the default action for launcher applied), but the way it uses it's backup launcher it really does seem to work "in addition" to the backup launcher. I'm thinking they are talking about screen redraws, but i couldnt get any to happen (maybe needs to be running a while longer)
Anyway overall i LOVE your work, but (and obviously it's the message from the play store comments) i'd love to see it be cut back more if possible, to try to avoid any noticeable impact to the system, and for the people on play (who arent really clarifying what they want i dont think) maybe trying to tweak it's interaction with the fallback launcher (i'm not sure exactly what their issue is as i said, i'm taking a bit of a stab)
:good:
reinstalled it just then and disabled the trigger, and set activation to double click home :good::highfive:
disabled themes as much as i could, i'll give it a spin like this and see how it goes.
Hi Folks,
I am working on a new launcher for Android - visit terrainhome.com to get to the play store link, or search for "terrainhome" in the play store.
It is based on the stock android launcher, but adds the following key features:
1. Really fast device search
2. Sidebar with lightweight, web-powered widgets
3. Badges for unread gmail, messenger and phone
It will only work on phones (no tablet support right now), and with Android 4.1+.
Even though I think that its pretty stable, I would love get your feedback if you see any trouble or if you have any suggestions on how to improve it.

Just tried it, very nice! :good: The Google Now like bar is almost better than the Google one since it has the controls and recent apps (and that we know that Google doesn't get our data xD). A few issues though:
Startup time, on first start there is a black screen for a few seconds until the get started page comes up (and that is also pretty lagging at first)
There could be (a lot) more settings and customization options, since this is a launcher, I would want a 5*4 grid or other animations for instance. Just take a look at nova and you have a lot of work (just kidding)
And could you please call the launcher activity "terrain" and not "launcher" ? I find it really annoying and distracting that most launchers do this (including the Kitkat laumcher).
Other than that, pretty cool and fast launcher, gonna be my daily if you add some more customization (need that 5*4 grid)

Thanks for the feedback! I will look at the startup time, it should not be so high. The activity is called "Terrain", its wierd that its showing it to you as launcher. I want to nail down the sidebar and search before adding 'advanced' launcher features like grid size, but its something that I definitely want to do.
I've been looking for a new launcher for a bit of time now to replace Nova Prime, which I'm getting tired of. Thankfully, I have for this launcher to use. I've been using it now for a bit of time now.
