My phone(e973) can't detect GPS signal. I tried to flash different ROMs(ICS,JB,CM10.1 ...) but it still doesn't work. I installed GPS Status app to support for getting GPS signal but still can't detect any satellites. I tried to hold my phone and my father's phone(HTC One X) and stood outdoor. the phone of my father detect satellite very quickly while mine is not. 2 days ago, I flashed Liquid Smooth 4.2.2 rom at AT&T Optimus G Box. Now, It shows like in the screenshot.

Pls help! I tried to stand in the sunshine for over 15 minutes, but it is still "looking for GPS location"
I'm having the same issue with my Droid RAZR.

have you tried going back to stock (or latest official) with the KDZ?
Can it see the GLONASS satelites?

No. I can't see any satellites.
any body help me
Since the issue seems pretty specific, I'd go for an RMA, you might have an issue with this phone specificaly.
If you do, don't forget to return to locked/stock/unrooted and remove the traces

I did KDZ to return to 4.0.4 stock and I also made a hard factory reset but the problem still isn't solved.
I'm not sure whether or not it is related to baseband because I heard that the baseband manage radio and GPS signal. Do u have any solutions.

My solution, as I told you, is to return it for an RMA, the Optimus G has a 1 year waranty so it must still be covered since it came out not even a year ago!
Sorry to see this thread this late, but i have some questions:
1.where from did you bought your phone ?
2.was new?second-hand?
3.is your phone a demo/pre-unit?
I'm asking this because i tested alot of demo/pre units and many of those had gps hardware disabled.
In uour case,i'm 99% surr it'd a hardware problem, has nothing to do with the software.

well, a man sold it to me. He've been studying in canada and when he returned for holiday, I bought it from him. It is a second- hand phone because he was using this phone before selling to me..
I don't know wether or not it is a demo but front face and rear face has a LG logo and rear face has the following information:
- LG-E973 FCC ID:ZNFE973
- IC:2703C-E973
- Made in Korea
But when I check IMEI on the Internet, it shows that my phone model is LG E970
2 013287000006856 LGE970 null 101KX001186 20010101 GLOBAL/GLOBAL N N
You should try to contact LG and explain the situation, I'm pretty sure you do have a waranty even if it's second hand.
Only if he has the original invoice and the warranty certificate.if not,i'm afraid there is no good news.
He can talk to the person who sold it and ask if he has them,but....

Are you sure of that? Have you tryed it yourself?
IMHO, as long as the IMEI has not been reported stolen, you can have it serviced. I have done many RMA over the years (I've been working in IT's for more than 10 years) and never once I was asked for the "warranty certificate", and only some times I was asked for an invoice (didn't even needed to be original)
Try it, if it fails, then contact the dude and have him scanned/emailed the things to you.
If you can't even try this out, there's no point trying to solve anything else.
Yeah,i'm sure. But i didn't made myself clear. I asked about papers so he could send the phone to WARRANTY.
Without those papers,it won't be worth the price. Let me tell you why.The mainboard needs special tools to work on.This special tools can be found only at LG or official services.I will look further on the service manual to see if the gps module can be replaced. If it's soldered to the mainboard, without the possibility to be replaced, then he needs the whole mainboard and this will cost about 200 euros as spare.Again, the replacement can only be done in an official service, because the imei will have to be re-writen.
Not to mention the callibration of the screen to work properly on the new mainboard. It is more complicated than it seems my friend, believe me.
I don't know how can you replace components without proper papers, without the warranty certificate. It's the basic in service .
You said it yourself, if you can't prove the origins of the product, how do they know it's not stolen and not out of warranty? The IMEI is registered at the operators, not at LG.
Why don't you just let the OP contact them and explain the issue
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/contact-customer-support
They can check with the serial number to see if the waranty is still valid. Many company does.
And I'm not talking about sending it for repairs at his expenses, but under waranty. As I already stated, many companys can service a device under waranty only with the serial number.
At least in Europe this will not work.
Why?because you need to prove you are the rightful owner of the device.besides,in Europe we 2 yrs warranty and it's stated clearly:in order to benefit the warranty, the product must be shipped in the original box, with all accesories, along with the invoice(or any other payment proof) and the warranty certificate.simple as that.

I've noticed a few days ago that on my G Pad a white spot has appeared on the lower left side of the screen.
I've never seen it and I'm almost sure that is not something there from day one (I would have noticed since then)
Here you can see some photos. It may seems small and hard to spot but if I scroll a page with a white background I can notice it immediately. This happens only with the white, with all the other colors I can't see it.
Do you what it is? A little damage on the screen or some problem that I can resolve with the warranty?

I don't know what it is but my first G Pad did this after about 3 months, had a refund and bought another. That is now, after 4 months use, away being repaired for the same issue. Both had 3 or 4 spots or small patches, as you say, they become obvious when you scroll a mainly white screen but are tricky to photograph.

Wow... What are you going to do? Try with the lg customer service or keep it?
Do you think that maybe a new model (or ours fixed) is going to show the same issue after some time?
I have the same issue! And it's not all: it's the second G Pad with the same issue!
I buy the first, then when I see the the problem I went to an LG service which change the old one with a new, but the new one has the same issue...plus a dead pixel
No I haven't contacted lg regarding this issue, I brought it five months ago. I think am just going to keep it as it nothing too major.

I have got the same issue. One white spot in the middle of screen and four spots on a corner. I noticed them after 3-4 months after the purchase. Frankly, I am going to wait a few weeks before contacting LG service. Maybe someone has already discussed the problem with lg customer service?

I sent my G Pad to store where I buy it. Them have sent it to an LG center.....after two months my G Pad came back with a only a firmware reset, because for LG the problem doesn't exist or it's not enough to be repaired...
I've had a similar issue and within 2 weeks the Tab came back with a new screen - without the bright spot, without thin blue line and without any lightbleeding.

My G Pad was away for this problem for about 10 days and has come back without the white spots on screen. There's no obvious sign of how they do the repair (good!) - paperwork says replacement display.
This was in the UK, it was about 4 months old and I contacted the retailer who contacted LG, who agreed the repair (I had to send photos) and arranged for a courier to take it to the repair centre. The new panel seems to be a bit pink but maybe the old one was too !
Oh well, the new, replaced display has a dead pixel too. It looks really tiny, almost as it is just one pixel, so I don't think the retailer will repair it Honestly, I won't go buy any other LG device in the future.
I don't know if I'll buy another LG product in the future, but I'll keep in my mind this bad experience...
I tried to bring my Gpad to a LG Repair Center. I hope that the defect will be resolved

Is there a future forecast for custom ROM support for the LG G4. I'm thinking about buying the G4, but I'm not sure. The custom ROM community for the G3 is great. Do you guys think that in about a year or so the G4 custom ROM community is also very active?
Only few variants of G4 got bootloader unlocked for now. The rest are having to stay with stock ROMs. If you want to customize your phone consider buying a G4 variant that can get bootloader unlocked. Or get a Nexus
Yeap same here im also g3 user but now g4 with locked bootloader in g3 i flash every roms

how about locked bootloader for 70% of the variants and loosing warranty for the other 30%.
i never unlocked my bootloader on S3/Note1/4 but i could install ROMS even with the less open Exynos phones has better support that this locked down, horrible DPI, fantastic camera, average battery G4. of course this is my mistake for trying out a LG phone, should have waited a month and got the Note 5 or simply went with S6 Edge.
I don't think it's a mistake to have chosen a LG phone. In my opinion, it's a very good phone with two issues: two high resolution (no one needs a higher resolution on a 5,5 inch phone than Full HD in my opinion) and therefore a weak battery...but besides, I think it's great. And hey, CM exists though and that's just not that bad at all.
How can I be sure that the bought - or yet to buy - LG G4 is bootloader unlocked? I'm thinking about buying the G4 at a web-shop in the Netherlands. I contacted the technical department of the web-shop and they told be that most of the models are bootloader unlocked. But they gave no guaranty. They said it is impossible to look at the model number beforehand.
Is there a site available where you can check the model number if it is bootloader unlocked or not.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks my man. I did see you're recommendations, but thing the is that the phone's mentioned by you are far more expensive compared to the G4. There is a offer where you can buy the phone for € 359,- and you get a voucher worth of € 75,- that you can use at the bigger warehouses here in the Netherlands. So that's kind of a no-brainer compared to the purchase price of the Note 5 or Nexus 6p.
The only thing that's keeping me worried is the custom ROM community. Some people mentioned that if the bootloader is unlocked you're free to flash custom ROMs. But how interested is it for programmers to invest there time in the G4?
i dont know what a voucher is lol and googled it got nothing
anyway the boot-loader thing is really annoying and LG is giving no promises about it so its not promising to get an unlockabale version
i have h815p and whatever customization I do on stock it can never be compared to custom kernel and rom
so you must be sure of the model you buy to be unlock able
Good luck

Voucher is just like a coupon.
My G4 was given Free to me by LG USA MOBILE on the LG G4 Trial. I received the device on May 22, 2015. Its one week before its started selling here in the US.
I am a die-hard LG Fan.
This device has been running this sudden bootloop issue till sometime after New Year 2016 it can never boot up again. Its Stucked on LG logo. I never thought this could happened to my beloved G4. Called LG USA was told this is a free phone so no fix. I was so pissed. The accessories I brought are all useless. Those leather backcovers cases batteries and charger.
Since LG not going to fix for me. I decide to bake the main board on my Oven.
Instructions
1.Disassembled your G4 and remove your main board. (Check YouTube for instructions)
2. Turn on your Oven and pre heat to 385 degree F.
3. Place your main board on the Aluminium foil stand onto a cooking sheet or aluminum foil with the EMI shield Up.
4. Once Oven has reached the desired temperature, place it into the Oven and bake it for 7 minutes.
5. When time up, leave the Oven door opened and the it stand or cool down for at least 60 minutes. Do not touch it or move or eat it. Patient.
6. Finally, reassemble your G4 and pray that the LED start blinking.
Seriously ...Credits go to @csjneek who provides the link and videos.
@Skedgy sky who have me the idea of doing this fix.
@johnyute who give me the audacity to bake it since he uses the heatgun method.

Let's hope the fix is permanent, it should be.
We are lucky because g4 is one of the easiest phone to disassemble. So this fix should be easy to do.

This probably won't be a permanent fix. I have used this same method on desktop graphics cards. Basically the same theory applies and which the heat will "reseat" the improper flash memory in hopes that the device will return to its normal function.
Mind you, much like the use of this in fixing graphic cards, PlayStation 3's, etc. there is a high chance of failure. It really should only be used as a last ditch effort in terms of trying to fix electronics. Sometimes it's better to simply pay a professional be it LG Out-of-Warranty service, or a 3rd party repair company who has the tools needed to proper desolder / resolder flash memory chips.

You are correct, but i I'm thinking there must be a very very small point of loose soldering because it's being triggered only by heat expansion. Maybe there is a chance that by melting a bit too create a bond.
Well I'm just guessing here. My2c

Just an update, I decide to disassembled the G4 including the heatsink. I dipped the contacts between the SD808 and the logic board with a conductive wire glue. Since the heatsink already removed, I also applied some Artic Cooling MX-3 thermal compound on the chipsets. Will keep this thread posted.

Worked for me also (I assume not for a long time, but nice to be able to backup a few things). H811 Serial starting 507, manufacture date 7/2015, hw 1.0
I used to do this on a Dell Inspiron GeForce video card that was plagued with a similar problem.
"Baking" the video card in the oven would make it function again for up to a year.
There were shops that were offering a service to re-flow the video card professionally for ~50-60$.
I am sure they could do the same for the G4 but IMHO ATM we don't have enough exact information about what it causing the bootloop.
For a G4 that is out of warranty, paying 60$ to have it brought back to life seems reasonable.

Everything worked normally for a few hours, but it didn't even last the night (less than 8 hours total uptime). It wouldn't even show the LG Logo at first, but after switching the battery it did again - back to the original bootloop behavior.
Hello,
so my device died (bootloop) on 5th dec, got it back today after warranty.
I sent in a rooted 5.1 lollipop (bootloader locked) and got the same thing back with mm 6.0
IMEI same, serial number, same.
Repair report:
http://i.imgur.com/xwU33uZ.jpg
They claim to have changed the main pcb, wouldn't the IMEI have changed then?!
There's even a dedicated "IMEI Nr." and "IMEI Nr. New" field on the report...
Does anybody have a clue what they actually did? Did they replace the motherboard and put "my old" IMEI in there?
Is there any way to check what 'serial number' the new mainboard has had before? Sticker behind the battery still sais 506....
I sent back a Canadian G4 for repair 2 times. After the second repair I still had the same phone both times it was rooted on lollipop a d came back with marshmallow.. I have no idea what they do but whatever it was they didn't do it right the first time.

Mhh, thanks for the info. I was hoping to get a new motherboard with a new serial number (610 is the newest i think?) since i haven't read much about bootlooping issues with those recent ones...
But then, they also could start bootlooping in a few months from now.. who knows.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader on my repaired device, but when the "repair" might just be temporarily and the phone is still vulnerable to this issue i wonder if thats a good idea.
But then, some ppl got their phones "repaired" with bootloader unlocked?! Meh. Decisions decicions.

If they have replaced the whole motherboard your IMEI must have changed and you would have had new sticker behind the battery with new SNxxx. My guess is that they may have found cheaper way of repairing bootlooped LG G4 and instead of replacing the motherboard they might be just replacing the affected components or just re-soldering the old ones. Generally LG issued repair guidelines to their repair centers to keep the costs down and just to replace what is only a must to replace.

Thanks, yeah it's just a folder with stock LG settings shortcuts...
Something else, on the repair status it sais the used replacement part (logic board) is "EBR81224301" - and i found it here in this online shop https://north.pl/karta/plyta-glowna-do-smartfona--ebr81224301-,1C9-XK-CL2S-X36.html
Since my repaired phone has the same IMEI and S/N as before, i have no idea what production date this replacement part has.
Maybe a kind soul with a S/N 6xx (609, 610) wants to dissassemble his phone and take a picture of what part-number their main logic board has?

You're right, that's why im curious. As the repair report shows, changed main board, EBR81224301 replacement part.
Perhaps like this
But that doesn't fit the repair report either as the replacement part is seemingly the whole main circuit.
If you would like to raise that with LG I would suggest doing it. If they said they replaced the motherboard (which they didn't as you IMEI hasn't changed) then I would doubt if they did anything else apart from maybe re-soldering the components and that would make their repair report false. I would understand LG that they don't want to spend anymore money on this bootloop disaster with LG G4 but they have to ensure that they provide the best service to the customer which from my LG bootloop repair experience is a lot to be desired...
They do the same thing in the US too. When I sent my phone in for repair, it also came back with same IMEI, serial, and everything, but the repair report stated that they replaced the motherboard. Since all my data was gone and the phone is working fine again, I assume that's what they did. They probably have some tool to set the IMEI number back to the one of the original board's to make the whole process as smooth as possible.
Yep, same as me..report says they swap motherboard but when do the checking, everything is same.
