Just that, what are the odds?
An official version. I doubt it. But a LinOS version is possible.
Since Intel dropped x86 support for mobile devices, I don't think Android O would have support on a x86 devices, that includes our Zenfone 2.
However, I might be very wrong.
@SleepingAran I have x86 Android O build on my Android Studio, so we would have something like Lineage OS but i don't think ASUS build official release for ZF2 (there is no Nougat to ZF2 so...)
I'm assuming custom ROM here since we didn't even get official nougat and the idiots at asus are already planning the ZF4 so they don't care about supporting the ZF2 and soon neither will they care about the ZF3
The question is if the current maintainers for the ZF2 will even bother to continue support when Lineage 15 (android O) comes out
Didn't they drop support before nougat? and yet we got it
No way asus will get O on the ZF2, in fact I don't think the ZF3 will get it either
No. They dropped after Nougat.

Running on an emulator is very different from running natively.
Yes they dropped before nougat. The only N we have is LinOS
Asus have announced that ZF3 and ZF4 series will get O by next year.

So say install stock asop Android 6 with Gapps on Asus zenfone 2 with an unlocked bootloader. What has happened to any of all you with your device? Was the os bootlooped or any other issues I need to beware of?
You can say goodbye to your phone...
Marshmallow isn't ready for the Zenfone 2 yet, it has an Intel X86 processor in it, most other phones use ARM...
Do it and you will have a brick...
Actually there is AOSP build of Android 6.0 for this device,
you can find it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/rom-android-surce-project-t3287218
and if stock meant google stock aosp build then i agree with you.
i have not used it so cant say how stable/usable it is atm, however there is also cm13 build as well
Thread closed per OP request.
Now here OnePlus gets an CyanogenMod Rom 14 based on Android N officially and you can flash it. In news we came to know that OnePlus would be giving an update at the end of the year to Android N 7.0/7.1 .
OnePlus earlier combined both Hydrogen OS and Oxygen Os and it was an good decision.
The provided Rom by Cyanogen plays very well with the phone but it might some time disappoint you but we did not notice that happening. Man..y users demanded to the faster update to Android N and many are still waiting but now you can download the ROM and use it. Doest it work fine?

I don't understand. Do you have a question? This is the question and answer forum.

Hi,
I'm really considering buying a P2 to replace my good old 1st gen moto g. At 300 € here in France, it seems like a really good value.
The only things that could hold me back now are system updates and alternate ROM support. I've read on Reddit that as the phone is only available in some parts of Asia and Europe, the developers community could not be that big. So two small questions :
I've read that the nougat update has just been made available. Is there a Lenovo commitment for Android O, too ? Are there regular security updates since the phone is out ?
Speaking of alternate ROM, if I understand correctly there's currently a LineageOS 14.1 basis that works well beside fingerprint reader and notification LED ? Do you know if there is a chance that the P2 could become an officially supported device for lineageOS ?
Thanks for your answer and all your contributions.
They barely released Nougat 7.0 and you're asking for Oreo? Even flagships like S8 will eventually get Android 8 in Q1 2018 given that Google will release the new OS version in Q3 2017. No regular security updates, till Nougat the phone was on MM with Oct 2016 security patch. Hell you can buy other phone till you're waiting for O. IMO Lenovo won't update P2 to Oreo, as at that time the new P3 should be already out and they'll focus on it and forget about the P2. No word for adding official support for Lineage OS, but that doesn't matter as the unofficial builds are working just fine.
Lenovo giving android O ?? only in dreams
but we have Good developers, and if you are looking official - then AICP is there, Lineage we dont have any info on it as our bro said in above post
if you have managed to use MotoG this many years you would like P2 very much and use longer, Only satisfactory thing in this P2 is BATTERY , other than that SAMSUNGS are better ;(
hate to praise samsungs in this forum but they are better if you have good money ..

What's the point of rooting this phone other than using lucky patcher o just can't see it.
What are your essential root apps.

First and most important possibility of Ad blocking - which saves your: time bandwidth and money.
There are some other apps which work only with root but this is beyond this discussion.

I need root for many things. On MM for Xposed, Titanium Backup, Kernel Auditor, DualBoot Patcher, Adblock and more. On Nougat the same arguments without Xposed.

As the dawn of 64-bit processors are on the horizon, how long till our chipset dies?
I'm amazed on how I can run Android Nougat 7.1.2 despite Qualcomm stopped releasing drivers for the chipset (as far as I know. Correct me if I'm wrong). When Android O comes out, will we ever get a full taste on it?

We can not say right now but as you observed that we came from jb to nougat and we might see android o if our devs stays strong and still uses armani without the device they can't do anything as they have to test many things to do for initial bring up of android o lineage/aosp builds
We now have Nougat check unofficial build by HemantBeast.

Is there any developer porting or has it already behaved the ROM MIUI 8.1 for the G5 cedric? If no one dev is porting, how can I start to port this rom?
Does anyone care to port it?
Miui use Android 6.0 and moto g5 use 7.0 you can't port this Rom

Unless You're talking about the patchrom, I believe that MIUI 8 is possible with Android 7.0 (Mi 6 running MIUI 8 released with Android 7.1.1)

- We can't use patchrom because our device doesn't have marshmallow.
- We can't port miui because our device supports 32-bit, devices with miui support 64-bit.
Either way, unless patchrom gets released for nougat, we have no chance.

Isn't cedric's processor 64bit, but motorola uses 32bit android?
Does motorola shipping it with 32bit software limits custom roms to 32bit?
