Has anyone changed their screen resolution with adb? If so did you see any noticable battery increase?

So there's a setting inside ROM toolbox under build.prop tweaks. It let's you choose the resolution of the device. So this got me wondering if you can actually change the resolution of a phone or is the resolution of a device a limitation of the phone's screen. I know on computer monitors its really easy to alter the resolution and wasn't sure if a mobile device could function the same way. I tried changing the resolution from 720*1280 to 768*1280. It didn't brick my device but I'm not sure if it actually did anything.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
I don't think you can change the resolution
You can change the DPI but that's about it

our nexus display density default is 320.. while slimrom is set to 245.. just wanna ask does changing the density affects our HD view on our screen?
HD view?
a maguro sent this.
As far as I know and what makes common sense for me, the display density that you set in software only dictates the size of the graphics and has nothing to do with the actual resolution of the display. The driver will still sent 720p graphics to the display, which will still be 720p.
The only thing that might be changed is the quality of certain bitmap graphics that, due to interpolation, might look a little bit worse in certain conditions. But that's unlikely to be noticed in day to day life because of the size of the screen and pixels and the distance from they are being used.
Cheers!
Do somebody know así way to change the screen resolution? There is no such option under screen settings and this is consuming a lot of battery.
Is there any way to change the resolution of the screen from Full HD to just HD to decrease battery drain?
Please test :
from PC with adb.exe
adb shell wm size 720х1520
and next command
adb shell wm density 320
To revert :
adb shell wm size 1080х2280
adb shell wm density 480
Problem
It has a problem. When change resolution battery percentage and other icons appear behind notch and how i fix it.
Also it has screenshot problem

Try with resolution 840x1600 and density 320, you will have a less tall screen (it hides notch)

I've tried 787x1661...it's fully functional and don't give any problem with notification bar
Hi all,
Is there a real autonomy benefit using lower screen resolution ?
I understand that it's easier/faster/less energizing to render less pixels, but I guess there should be an extra work to adapt high resolution screens to lower display.
So, can someone confirm (and maybe quantify...) the gain in batterie life using lower resolution ?
Thanks in advance :good:
Hi guys,
I have been experience some kind of lags when the screen its below 50% brightness level, black colors have an effect like a "curtain" when I do scroll. See the video attached.
