I'm probably gonna upgrade my tablet at a best buy. I want adoptable storage moreso than I benefit from rooting but ideally I can also root. What is the status right now on marshmallow for this, kingroot still work or no?
I'm actually about to purchase a 705 Motherboard because I'm sick and tired of this AT&T Bull Crap! I have mine rooted on the stock Marshmallow. So I'll be selling my Rooted Motherboard. I'm just done with AT&T's Locked Bootloader.
How were you able to root?
Kingroot didn't work for me

Yeah, we didn't get it right, are you on marshmallow rooted?
No. Lol. I lost root on the upgrade. I can try more ways to root. But I just posted my tablet for sale... If it sells cool, if not I'm picking up a 705W main board for it. I use this in dash on my car so I have to have root.

Ahh yea I was super confused (and had temporary hope)
Yea AT&T should have some people arrested for crimes against humanity. This bootloader/software trickery is awful.
Agreed....even with just root it still isn't enough for me. I need a custom recovery and aftermarket rom. I need performance and ability.

I want to bring my SG2 back in to exchange because I noticed there is " one " dead/stuck pixel, that is colored RED. I just don't like my brand new device starting off being un-perfect. It's two days old.
Is there a way to unroot the phone?
no there is not....thats why i dont root till there is an unroot method
lol, nope. i looked and looked everywhere. could not find it anywhere on the net. my device was stuck in bootloop. after waiting for a while for stock rom to come out, and not seeing any advancement. i decided to purposely brick the device and go exchange it, worked like a charm.
u can wait 2 c if a stock rom comes out within ur 14 day period.

This is why i'm never in a hurry to jump on the root bandwagon until there is a method to go back to stock firmware. Sorry mate.

Although I was thinking the same thing, that's a big gamble to take. Since some people is reporting that Sprint doesn't care if the phone is rooted or not, I'm gonna just go to the sprint store to see if i can just exchange mine even though it's rooted.

They might care now. Problem is Sprint lacks the tools to remove root on this device. So they might have to deny you.

Just don't tell them its rooted.... I guarantee most of the employees won't know the difference....the ones that do probably wouldn't care

Yes there is a way to unroot I believe. Re run the root script and it will un root. We did the same thing for og epic or use odin with stock tar and no more root

yup...they did...lol. They told me I had to return it to stock. Then went on to tell me that they're sure the issues I'm having in regards to losing data etc...is because sprint is updating their towers where I live...I thought this was bs.
But anyway, I left the store, turned on 4g to see if that service was available in my area yet...and boom...it connected.
So maybe he was telling the truth, because just a month ago there was no 4g at all here where I live.
But nevertheless, the stock tar/kernel should be posted today or within the next few days. Apparently bubby..is just about to release it
Hi I just bought an S3 from someone. However the android version is 4.1.9... I dont think its rooted either. Is it a fake? I hope not... Or is there any other way to tell?

Damn Got scammed. Is there a way to root this and unlock it, like this version? If so, can you link me?
How do I unlock it
forget unlocking. i'd be contacting the seller...
Its a fake phone man , contact the seller and demand a refund. Unlocking it and stuff is impossible as these Chinese phones have no development at all , try finding a phone with similar hardware z maybe that will help. .
ah right, I have seen methods to unlock these phones though. I have a giffgaff (O2) sim and it doesnt pick up any bars, I tried my EE sim and it picked it up. I dont think my phone is unlocked, is there a way to unlock it. Iv heard of SRSRoot is that the correct method?

Rooting and unlocking are two different things SRSRoot will probably root it but it won't unlock it.

Get your money back, if you paid with paypal contact the seller first and if he refuses do a charge back. Knock off phone's hardware is almost always terrible, which is why the price is so low. Even if you manage to root and install a custom ROM it will never be the same experience as having the actual S3 :\. Sorry to hear all this man.

Hi guys I was just wondering if any of you guys have note 3 from tmobile... reason I ask is I wanna root without effecting knox security because I would like to keep my jump plan. ..I just wanna be able to debloat this phone and also I would like to use aroma type customization. ..I am used to epic 4G touch being rooted and I learnt so much with that phone I would like to learn note 3... but I don't wanna hurt my plan from tmobile because they actually let me purchase this beautiful phone with no contract and didn't have to pay a full price at once. ... Thanks to anybody that has any answers. ..

Yep--T-Mobile parts out devices and couldn't care less whether the device is modified. All they do is (briefly) inspect hardware, including water sensors, and ensures that it boots. That's it.

Lost is 100% right there, i can totally attest to that.
As far as root method...i used CF-Auto-Root...but if you want to install a custom rom, youre going to HAVE to trip knox and void the warranty, the warranty is usually the samsung warranty you have to fear, but if youre going to t-mobile you will most likely be all set, even then there are way to restore everything.
But i own a Note 3 N900T but i use Straight talk with AT&T Towers.
If youre looking for ONLY root, then that wont help you debloat anything, that will just allow you to run unsigned Apps, but Chainfires autoroot is the only way to go IMHO in that aspect. If you dont understand the differences im almost finished Writing up my Root Q&A
I can't post links due to how rarely I post. However, I searched the G4 on LG's open source website and found this:

You might want to include what it is in the title of the thread so more people see it.
I Dl'd no problem.
This means we're getting close.
Anything you can do with the source code? Or no because we have no access to the bootloader?

This can’t be compiled and flashed onto an actual device without an unlocked bootloader, if that’s what you’re asking...
Exactly what I was asking lol. Wonder how much longer the big V will drag their heels with this one... Its right there in front of us and we can't do anything with it. *sigh*

I may be jumping ship to the S7. I like the G4 but Verizon has neutered this phone to the point where I don't want,to deal.

This is sadly why I jumped to the 6P in November. I never realized how nice it was to be able to mod and customize your phone any way you want, and have actual 100% stable stock Android ROMs.

I had the Note 5 after my G4, then got rid of that for the 6P. I'm 100% happy with my choice, I do miss the outstanding G4 camera though.

I had the note 3 and was going to get the newest one but the SD card and removable battery were deal breakers for me. And with Verizon handicapping the g4 I hate it. Only problem is I'm stuck on the stupid edge plan and can't afford to pay off the g4 and buy a 6p outright.

It will sometime this year, but Verizon in particular is notoriously slow in pushing major Android updates to their customers. There is a good chance big red will be the last major carrier to push it out.

I just signed up for Project Fi and ordered the 6P with 128GB storage. I'm ditching Verizon AND what they did to the great G4. It's a shame, too. It's such an excellent phone, but it's just so... neutered.
Any possibility for a unlocked bootloder in the future?
I'm pretty tempted myself. I also heard that the sprint version will be snapdragon, so that means more development, right?

Unless it comes with a locked bootloader. Hopefully not. If so, Im going to stick eith my s6. That's the reason why I didn't upgrade to s7.

That's kind of where I'm at also. It's pretty much everything I'm looking for in a phone, but if that bootloader's locked, that changes things.

I am, but I'm not ecstatic about it. I wish I could be as excited as I was about the Epic 4G, but it's just not happening. I'm basically getting it because my S4 is just too old.
Hell no! I'm done with Samsung already. I love the phones, but their OS updates are just so sad. Android O is already announced and yet I'm still on MM. I'm just going to wait for the next Pixel phone IMO.
I am on the fence. Been thinking of switching away from Samsung got a little bit, but suppose I should wait and see if the S8 will be worth it over the other android phones out there...
