Open the zip file of there rom and grab the boot.img out of it and flash that in twrp.
Do they do any work on the kernel? Might have to check it out my self. Most ROMs tend to have the sames settings when it comes to the kernel. One of the reasons why I like to compile the roms myself is there are some default settings that just don't seem right to me. CPU default scheduler sucks, same for the IO scheduler and readahead could be higher considering we have 3GB of ram.

I couldnt find any information to help my issue and i have been looking for a while. Months ago i was really trying to OC my phone. No matter what kernel or rom I used I could never get it over the default clock speed. I finally found one rom EVO.ZONE.RED.1.20.11 That would allow me to OC. In setcpu I could go over the default clock speed (i dont know how high off the top of my head). Is there any reason why that one rom allows me to OC but no others do? If so I want to try and duplicate it with other roms. Thanks.
OC ability is determined by the kernel. The ROM you were using had a custom kernel with that feature baked in. if you want to OC just flash a new kernel, but make sure it's compatible with whatever ROM you're using

Yeah... i undersand that. I tried multiple roms and kernels with no luck. Just that one Rom. Trying to figure out why, rather than flash kernel after kernel.

try a netrachy-toastmod Kernel that allows for some overclocking also you might have to disable Perflock By clicking menu then selecting Perflock Disabler if you are using a sense based rom.
Hey Guys
I am using CM7.2 Democracy Final Version but there is no smartassv2 governor there. By default it is set to LILGv2.
Is there any way I can install smartassv2 governor to my ROM???
Thanks.

Is it the latest kernel by px??
What benefit would it do to my ROM??(Is it better than Fire Kernel)
Will I have to install all of my apps again??
It it change appearance and performance??
Are you fuc*ing kidding me? Firekernel is only for ace ...
Lol yea Unless u have ported it
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
Yeah, but i think that he has read the kernel name in the rom info, and the op of rom who has ported from ace, has copied/pasted the changelog without modification, also kernel cannot be ported, at least builded with firekernel source and gio config ..
Yes I am using Democracy that is the Port From Ace and Yes I read the Rom Info and the Kernel Was Fire Kernel. Maybe the person who ported it did not changed it.....
So actually this was not my question

the latest I have...
What benefit would it do to my ROM??
better speed maybe
more governors and frequncies to scale available.
Will I have to install all of my apps again??
no, a wipe isn't needed for kernel.
Will it change appearance and performance??
it will change performance, on a positive way depending on how you scale. but not the appearance.

No.our gio doesn't include "ambient light sensor" hardware by which our device can't change its brightness automatically according to surrounding.neither with any software or app.nor with any hack.
Some usefull info here thanks techies
Hi, I saw that there are some alternatives but none up to date comparison or advice.
I love having stock rom, but I want to overclock it a bit and to have init.d support and int2ext support.
So, for kernel:
- Dust
- Cake
- Sense_fire
which (and what version) is the most stable/the best?
Rom: should I keep stock rom or install a stock-like rom? As for the kernel... Which is the most stable?
Basically I hope to have a rock-solid-like-stock device with a rom that is stock-like and has init.d support and a kernel that supports oc, ext4 (and maybe swap). Is too much to ask?
Last question: to swap or not to swap, that is the question... I red a lot about swap but there are very different opinions and I'm a bit confused. What do you advise?
Thank you very much!

Well, I already saw that and I'm considering your work. But I ask to you (I think you are using your own kernel and rom) is it rock-solid? What does it have better than other roms or kernels (like dust or cake)?
I know that everyone should try things and there are different opinions and so on... But unfortunatly I have to "tweak" a phone that I can't have in my hands for too much time and too much times to try different roms and kernels, and for a rom-change I should also backup and restore everything, because is the primary phone of a friend. So I'm searching about opinions of users that have tried different things to try to find the better one at the first shot

oh okay..yeah i am using my sense_fire_v1 kernel because i dont like OC.and int2ext4+ with 500 mb ext4 and 500 mb swap and my phone is faster than it was on stock kernel.
dust and cake are good but they are old and also drain toomuch battery so i dont use them instead i made new kernels.
edit : Questions should be in Q & A forum.
as you are asking for opinions it's okay but remove that question sign.

Ok, I'll try your kernel+rom... But for swap... What about sd card life? And if I want to use it, I should enable it in any way or is automatically enabled if I have the partition on the sd card?

Hi guys, i have tested so many roms and kernels but now im lookin for nice rom and kernel for battery but still fast. Anyone got some ideas which rom / kernel i have to test? Thank you already and im sorry for my bad english but i hope you understand
omnirom and bluspark
OOS based : xXx w/ Singularity kernel.
Explanation : stock with tweaks, making it better than it is already.
Customs: Dirty Unicorns, Screwd, Omni
Explainations : AOSP-based, really fast and smooth, not bloated with useless stuff.
Kernel settings :
gov > tripndroid or alucard
i/o > deadline with 1024 readahead
tcp algorithm > sociopath
Overall, Flash and Singularity are the best kernels i've tried. (Omni's one is great as well, simple and just works without further tweaking)
