I noticed my screen is getting a little darker at night after 7.1.1. I don't know if this is the expected behavior for the new version or something on my phone.
When 7.0 launched I tried the night mode enabler, didn't like it and uninstalled. Don't know of there is something left on my phone that's causing this.
The best way to test this is manually changing time in the settings.
Hopefully it is feature. It's not nigh mode (or whatever is called when blue light is reduced) but still better for our eyes.
I didn't notice any red tint, the screen just dims a little.

Hello. Since getting my new HTC M8 the other day I noticed that the screen can flicker for a fraction of a second when in the setting menu.
The issue really comes to light when you use a screen filter, I use the app that is literally called screen filter. If you set the app to about 20% and then you go into the settings menu you start seeing microsecond white flashes when backing out of and entering new menus.
Does anyone else experience screen flicker on there M8. I like to know if its my phone thats the problem or the screen filter app. If someone wouldnt mind testing my steps above out, it also helps if you have the screen filter on in a dark room as the flashes become even more pronounced.
Thanks
Has anyone noticed ambient screen mode working differently since the update, or is it just me? With all the talk about better battery life, I thought I'd try keeping ambient mode on to see what kind of battery life I'd get. I didn't regularly use ambient mode before the update, but I did play around with it. Before the update, it seemed that the watch stayed dimly lit (ambient mode) most of the time while wearing it, but bringing my wrist up would make the screen come fully on. Now, it seems like it goes completely off immediately when I drop my wrist, and when I raise it, it lights up dimly in ambient mode, and I actually have to touch it to get the fully-on mode. It does seem to be more sensitive and reliable coming (dimly) on in ambient mode than it is in non-ambient mode, but still, in bright light conditions, it means I actually have to touch it before I can even see it (or use it).
Am I the only one seeing this?
Nothing changed, that's the way it's always worked
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Free mobile app
Are you sure? I don't remember it being that way, and if that were the case, Ambient mode would be BETTER for battery life than regular mode, because the 360 goes off just as fast as regular mode, and won't come fully on unless you actually touch it. When I played around with it before, I'm positive it would come fully-on when I raised my wrist. Now it never will.

Just tried it out and I remember it being different as well. But I now use facer. And some faces do not show when dimmed. You have to manually update that setting in facer or whatever program you are using. But saying that if you tilt your watch away from you further, the face will shut off and for me, when it becomes more horizontal, the face dims on. So, yes, it worked like it did as it first did, but to me is a bit more sensitive to the angles of the watch.
Nevermind. I saw in another thread that someone recommended restarting the 360 after the update. Did that, and now it's working as I remember, where it still comes on fully when I raise my wrist. It was the fact that I actually had to touch it to make it come on fully that was bothering me. Now, it comes on dimly as I start to raise my wrist, and fully when I fully raise my wrist, without the need to touch it. That's as it should be.
I guess the take-away is that if the 360 is doing something weird after the update, restart it.
Hi Guys,
This is my first post so apologies in advance if this is not the correct place to ask this question or if I don't particularly explain the issue I'm having properly.
Something incredibly annoying and frustrating is happening with my display every night. I notice that around 7pm each evening, my phone will go from a nice crisp looking display to one with a yellowish/warm hue. It's as if my blue light filter is on but when I check, it's definitely off. I turn it on and nothing changes with the display, but when I turn it off, the display goes back to how it previously was. I am currently using the adaptive screen settings, auto brightness turned off, and blue light filter turned on with the customer schedule of midnight to 9am. I've also tried turning off blue light filter altogether but still run into this issue. It keeps happening every so often in the same night even after I've "corrected it" using the method of turning on and off the blue light filter.
Is this to be expected with the adaptive screen mode? I love how vivid and bright it is during the day, but despise the yellowish tint at night. Could it be possible that the blue light filter is somehow turning on by itself even when I've turned the feature completely off?
I appreciate any assistance. Samsung tech support was not particularly helpful and told me to go to Costco where I purchased it from and return it.
Thanks,
Cam
Have you tried configuring the color balance in the Display settings?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't tried that yet because I figured it didn't matter what setting I adjust it to as the display would automatically change in the evening anyways.

It's strange that even you already turned off Blue Light Filter, it's still making it dim. I find the dimming helpful since it doesn't strain the eyes at night. You could try reflashing the software for the phone.

I agree, but I would like for it to be turned on later such as 1 hour before I go to bed.
At 7pm PST this evening (about 15 min ago), the screen regained it's yellow tint again. I turned on the blue light filter, then turned it off to get it back to how it was initially previous to 7pm.
The Samsung support rep asked me to factory reset my phone, but that didn't work either. Would that be similar to flashing the software? I can certainly give it a try but was just wondering if the factory reset essentially did the same thing. I'm really not sure what this could be.

It's the custom schedule for the blue filter. You can change it in display settings.

This does not fix it. I have my custom schedule set to enable at 8:00 and disable at 8:01 but it still turns on at 7pm.
Finally figured it out!!! Go to Google Play Books. Open a book and tap the screen to find the letter A. From there go to settings and turn off the night light. Whew! This has been bothering me for months!! Hth!!
I'm having the exact same issue except I've turned off/on the blue light filter a million times and it doesn't fix it.
I also don't have google play books installed so it's not that. I've tried messing with every "display" setting but nothing fixes it.
My phone did this same thing a couple months ago and when I woke up the next morning, the display was back to normal. Now it just did it again but even though its a day later, my display is still all messed up (not as bright and crisp, has a yellowish hue to it).
Anyone got any other ideas or does this sound like some kind of hardware issue?
I had the same problem specially when I go to sleep at my dark bedroom, my phone is Samsung Note 8, and I just found the solution. Turn your phone to the otherside, look at the main Camera, mine has two cameras, a flash, and a rectangle black sensor at the end. I covered this sensor with a thick black paper that I found from a brochure, taped it in place, and Wala ? no more screen dim.
WOW

Hi Guys,
The home screen colour temperature on my Oppo Find X2 changes to yellow (warmer tone) automatically in the evening everyday. Both Nature tone display and eye comfort settings are switched off completely (no schedule has been set as well). The weird part is that the lockscreen's colour temperature is absolutely fine, its when I go to the homescreen I see this issue all through the night. It goes back to normal in the morning. I've tried factory resetting couple of times but it didn't work. My phone is on Coloros 7.1 with June security patch.
My phone screen color changes while using the chrome very ofen. And even while i am typing this in chrome.
And scrolling on oppo website also changes color from warm to cold.
Anyone has answers

You're joking right?
Blue light filter for night viewing.
Try looking under display settings.
For those who have problem with yellow screen in Chrome, try disabling #dynamic-color-gamut in Chrome... chrome://flags and search #dynamic-color-gamut
Hey all
I wonder if it is me who isn't too bright
Just updated from Android 8 to 11 (18.1) and my Moto 5GS is working well though the brightness is very bright. At first it was on adaptive which was all over the place, bright when you wanted it dim, vice versa or would dim/bright at random times.
I have tried to set the various settings and now it's stuck on BRIGHT, burning into your eyes bright. Even when the screen is off you can still see the screen is light up, light grey.
Is that a known issue or have I set a setting wrong somewhere? (Never seen so many options to just dim your screen, much be a Android 11 update)
Thanks for the great work, it's been a while since I rooted and installed new OS on my phone. So it was a bit hard to play around with fastboot, ADB and holding my breath when it rebooted
